Hi guys, I've unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP and although it sticks a SuperSU app on the phone, it doesn't actually root it like its supposed to...
Can someone point in the direction of a tutorial to root through adb/fastboot please.....or offer me a fix/solution....please.
Hi eskimosound, it's easy download the superuserSU zip file from the net...just Google it.
You want the 2.7. version because the 2.8 one is buggy....once downloaded just boot into recovery and install it from there...easy when you know how!! Good luck with S-Off, Sunshine wants you to relock the bootloader......after all that effort you put in!!!
Lol

im useing ota 2.3.4 and ive tried everything to root the nexus one universal,z4,gingerbreak i have the bootloader unlocked but it will not root however gingerbreak did install su i thought my G2X was a trip this thing is giveing me more grey hair somew one have a solution
I had this problem and just managed to figure it out today (through the power of google). Superboot, oneclick and gingerbreak all don't work for 2.3.4 as of right now, so you have to use the PASSIMG method to flash an older version and root from there.
I found a good guide, but given that I've been a lurker for the past couple years as opposed to a regular poster, I can't link it. In lieu of a link, I suggest a search query such as "root 2.3.4 nd1razor"
Your bootloader is unlocked. No need for all that crap. Put the su zip on your sd card. Flash custom recovery via fastboot. Boot directly into the new recovery. And flash the su.zip from the recovery. You're rooted. The end.
you just need to flash custom recovery via fast boot or rom manager.then you can flash custom roms (which mostly have root along with tweaks) via recovery

I also unlocked the bootloader!
I put this ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1084726
But I still do not have root permissions ... Why?
You have them, but probably don't know how to use them. How do you check for them?
How did you put the ROM? Did you flash custom recovery?
Yes, i flash recovery-RA-passion-v2.2.1.img
Now my rom is: MIUI-1.9.16
The strange thing is that I managed to install the rom and recovery without having root permissions
Not strange. You don't need root. You have unlocked bootloader......

Thanks, you're very kind!
How do for get root permissions ?
The ROM includes them. When you're inside the ROM, you have root.
You are right !!!!! I just had to change the parameters with superuser
thanks
P.S.: Sorry for my ignorance
I know there are stickies but I am still unsure of where to start.
My phone is stock ICS + Sense 3.6
I want to root it so I can install root only apps. Further down the road I want to install CM9 or another rom.
I rooted my Desire with unrewoked last year, which was really easy, but for the Incredible I can't figure out where to start.
I am not sure if the stickies apply to ICS as well?
Help please

You are in uncharted waters my friend. ICS/Sense 3.6 introduced a new HBOOT 2.02.0002. Your only hope is that the Downgrade script that uses 'tacoroot' exploit stills works. Here is the link if you want to give it a shot and then report back on your success or failure.

The way I rooted mine was firstly unlock the bootloader via HTCdev, then flashed 4ext recovery via fastboot. I was then able to flash Superuser via recovery and finally installed Busybox from the market

Thanks for this post. I forgot that this was an option because so many people dismiss this option because they don't want HTC knowing that they unlocked their phone.

if you pushed root via recovery you aren't temp rooted you're rooted. and while s-off has been announced for this phone, it hasn't been released yet.

I unlocked via HTC Dev, then Pushed Recovery over the One-Click Toolkit and installed SU per Recovery...
but there Stands now TEMP Rooted...
Can i change to PERM Root?
Uhhhh flash a ROM and call it a day. To be honest for 90% of us S-Off isn't a huge deal since it doesn't really open any note doors. I'd rather have current source code for the kernel then S-Off

How is it indicating temp root? Root with that method is permanent.
allright, forget the S-Off...
But i want a Perm Root... can i change?!
With S-ON i have to Flash the Boot.img allways per ADB, isnt it?!
What makes you think you only have temp root?
and you don't have to flash boot img with fastboot anymore. just flash in recovery
I'm Feard that someday my Root is Gone...
Thats why i want a Perm Root
Just tell me How i get a PERM Root

if you reboot and you still have root it's permanent, unless you accept an OTA update.
is it normal that flashing the Kernel in Aroma (Trickdroid) Takes longer than 10 minutes?!
No. Aroma probably locked up. Happens a lot
right
Restarted and now Working
Guys, I wanna thank you so much that i can allways trust of your response
Thanks
hope someone can help.i have a vzn dev ed thats bootloader unlock and rooted on 4.4.2 but every time i turn off the phone and turn it back on root is gone and i would have to root again. if anyone can help me out it would be great. thanks in advance for any help

i flash recovery twrp with moto toolkit the first time and it work but when i reboot i would lose root.then i try towelroot it would give me root again but if i reboot i would lose root. anyway to solve this would be great. thanks in advance
If you can boot into recovery (twrp) just flash the su zip, if you search the forums or Google you will find a link
You used a toolkit to flash recovery and root the phone? In the time it took to download and get the toolkit ready, you probably could have downloaded mfastboot, recovery, and a superuser zip and had all of them flashed and no issues.

If you are using a tool kit, I have to ask.. Have you visited Moto's web site, requested the unlock code for your phone, and actually used it (mfastboot oem unlock uniquecode)?
If you have a developer edtion, consider this... Don't use the tool kit, instead...
Install Android Platform Tools, ADB, mFastboot and the Moto drivers by following -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/ADB.htm
Root by following -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/moto-x-qa/step-step-instructions-unlocking-t2649738 however, since it was written some time ago, get and use the newest TWRP from -> http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/ghost and get the newest SuperSU from -> http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu and copy it to the /SDCard in your phone (or just download it from the browser on your phone so its in /sdcard/download folder before you start)... Use these versions when following that process.
If you already got your unlock code from Moto's web site and used it, then you can skip step 1.
And step 5 should be started with the phone UNPLUGGED.
thanks for all the reply. i have it unlock by Moto's web site with the code.i have twrp 2711 and everything flash fine. i flash with the new su 2.0 in twrp2.7.1.1 it said flash successful but when it boots up i still have no root. i use rsd lite and flash Google Play Edition 4.4.2, by Q9Nap where the rom is already rooted. root work fine until i reboot i would lose root again.thanks in advance for any and all the help

Did you ever try to downgrade to 4.4 and use something like slapmymoto or MotoWpNoMo or something before?
Either way, based on the past seeing similar symptoms.. I would consider downloading the stock verizon 4.4.2 SBF and then follow Option 5 at -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/MotoX-ReturnToStock.html to get back to stock, then try TWRP and SuperSU again. (and yes there are a few lines/commands repeated there, that is intentional)
Heard of this another time....but can't find the thread. All signs for that person was bootloader unlocked and write protection still enabled.
Hi Guys I have been searching info for rooting HTC one M7 and version as title says.
Many Thanks
You didn`t bother to use the search field at all now, did you?
Get latest SuperSU flashable ZIP file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053 and flash it in a custom recovery, like TWRP or CWM.
Option 1: use sunshine ($25) to s-off your device. It will unlock your bootloader as well. Then install a custom recovery, make a nandroid backup before rooting the device, then flash supersu. You're rooted.
Option 2: unlock bootloader through htcdev website, install custom recovery, flash supersu.

You cannot go wrong with Sunshine. It does some compatibility test first to make sure it works on your device. If everything is fine then the payment prompt pops up. I also used it as firewater didn't work on my device and didn't regret it. $25 is a fair price towards the developers I think. :good:
