if you pushed root via recovery you aren't temp rooted you're rooted. and while s-off has been announced for this phone, it hasn't been released yet.

I unlocked via HTC Dev, then Pushed Recovery over the One-Click Toolkit and installed SU per Recovery...
but there Stands now TEMP Rooted...
Can i change to PERM Root?

Uhhhh flash a ROM and call it a day. To be honest for 90% of us S-Off isn't a huge deal since it doesn't really open any note doors. I'd rather have current source code for the kernel then S-Off

How is it indicating temp root? Root with that method is permanent.

allright, forget the S-Off...
But i want a Perm Root... can i change?!
With S-ON i have to Flash the Boot.img allways per ADB, isnt it?!

What makes you think you only have temp root?
and you don't have to flash boot img with fastboot anymore. just flash in recovery

I'm Feard that someday my Root is Gone...
Thats why i want a Perm Root

Just tell me How i get a PERM Root

if you reboot and you still have root it's permanent, unless you accept an OTA update.

is it normal that flashing the Kernel in Aroma (Trickdroid) Takes longer than 10 minutes?!

No. Aroma probably locked up. Happens a lot

right
Restarted and now Working
Guys, I wanna thank you so much that i can allways trust of your response
Thanks

If you have Hboot 1.16.000 (which you do if you're phone is manufactured after May 2011 or you've accepted the OTA update) none of the above options would work.
The only option is unlocking the Hboot, so that you can install a custom recovery and a custom rom (pre-rooted):

How to temp root?
Hi all, is there any guide for temp root? Most of what I've read about temp roots were posted around April 2011. I'm running stock HTC 2.3.3 and I want to get temproot in order to run Titanium Backup before attempting the HBOOT 1.16 downgrade. I can manually back up my Angry Birds saves, but not the other saves since I don't know the file structure.
I've tried psneuter and GingerBreak 1.2, both didn't work.

Zergrush works, just don't reboot.
Hi, thanks for that, zergRush did work for shell root. Nand is still locked though, so I cannot install su or busybox in /system/bin, so Titanium Backup is still no go for me (no root access in TB).
Any other ideas?

Zergrush does work on 1.16 hboot and lower, download doomlords easy rooting toolkit, edit the batchfile to comment out the reboot line and run it.

Thanks nonverbose. I tried it and while there were no error messages, Titanium Backup still wouldn't work. Something about su not having full access. My SD card was automatically unmounted too, and when I mounted it again from Settings -> SD Card and Storage, I lost the root. I did manage to get Root Explorer to work, so I can manually copy out my savegames.

I can't obtain root on vivid?

I have unlocked the bootloader and flashed the CWM with the All-in-one-tool-kit. I am on stock and I want to remain on stock but I want to have root access so I can just get rid of all the bloat. I have gone through the all in one tool kit and ran the perm root and still nothing. Also went into CWM and went to developer and chose install su and superuser and still no luck.
What am I doing wrong exactly?
Have you posted in the all in one thread?
I rooted mine with WCX recovery didn't have any problems very easy to do....

Hey Why do you want to remain on STOCK???
If you would like to go full fledge on your phone with custom ROMS, OC , ROOT. Look for my thread here :

You will not regret!!!!!! Because I did the same, I have root access, my phone is OC and a sexy DarkRaider customer ROM with Beats enabled, Swype to unlock and many more features!!!!!
Check it out, this might help you!!!!!
Make sure you have the HTC drivers installed, and HTC sync uninstalled.
You shouldn't have any issues, just make sure to follow every excruciating fine detail to the letter.
I ended up following the instructions here and got root. Running stock OTA Bell ICS with unlocked bootloader and root. Still S-ON.

I know about that method. Just haven't had the need to S-OFF yet. I'm going to be travelling later this summer so I'll just let the dust settle with the ICS update first and then deal with S-OFF so I can use another provider's SIM.

Hey, S OFF is just needed to make sure that if you install custom ROM so that the kernels get flashed properly, it is not gonna affect anything else.
I have my Vivid fully Sim unlocked, rooted, S OFF and with Dark Raider Rom with Kozmick kernel OC at 1.4ghz with Swype to wake and its awesome!!
Just posted, felt like all who has vivid needs to get the full fledge of it!!!!!
gotta fix root on it. For now, download SU from here\
http://downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip
put it on your external sd card. flash it in recovery.

you can Root, install custom recovery and flash roms
S-Off means you can install RUU from different country, regardless of the Carrier and Region
you dont even need S-Off if you want to Root, Recovery, and flash ROMs
Aha, so 100% i can root phone with both metods methods? Revone and forgot the name of second one?

Those are not rooting methods but s-off methods.
No root exploit is needed for this phone. Just unlock via htcdev, flash custom recovery, flash rooted rom.

[Q] Root After OTA

Hey Guys,
I just got a MotoX from Sprint. The Girl behind the counter started the OTA without my knowledge, and I couldn't shut it down. I'm wondering if there is anything I can do now to revert back or gain root.
I'm on 139.13.1.ghost_sprint.Sprint.en.US.
I check the rooting thread but didn't seem to find anyone who was in the same boat as I was.
Your SOL

You will need to flash a custom recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2458449
Then you will need to flash via recovery SuperSU or equivalent super usr app and binary.
http://download.chainfire.eu/351/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.65.zip?retrieve_file=1
To flash it place the file on your phone, load up recovery and select it.

I've flashed TWRP, the recovery doesn't seem to be working though. I have to use adb to boot into recovery (selecting it from fastboot doesn't do anything but boot into the standard starting open). It just states "No Command" with an android on its back.
EDIT: Yep I'm an idiot. power to boot nornmaly. up is select. AND THERE IS ROOT. Awesome Dark9781. You're a life saver.

Is it really worth rooting?

Seems like the root methods mentioned on the forums are dangerous. Now.. I love a good rooted phone. But why couldn't I Just odin twrp and flash a SU update zip? Is it only because the bootloader is locked? Why can't I unlock the bootloader and odin twrp and SU#?? Any help is greatly appreciated.
-Matthew
Unless you are on an old rom, the only option to get root would be to get another phone. This phone will never again have root.
Still on Lollipop here, phone still blows.

Yes bootloader lock inhibits from directly flashing anything if ure on lolipop u can inject root with the modified system image. And having root is the onlything that makes the 991 worth keeping if i couldnt have root then out the door it goes. Also root is all you get no twrp clockwork mod nothin again due to locked bootloader

Yea the only root method for us is 1st lolipop only zv6 firmware which isnt mentiond any where. 2nd due to locked bl and no workaround like loki or bump for g2 and g3 it stops us from gaining root that way. Plus if im not mistaken all the root methods on previous g series have been done throught adb one clicks or stump root. But on g4 only way is to replace the system partition with one that has root injected. Its really not that bad. Im lazy and copy and paste all commands. But in the end we still only have root. With minimal system r/w acsses.
Now i may be wrong but last i heard this was only method.

Quoted for truth. Holy sh*t.
I like this phone, but I'm SOOO ready to move on. I think I'm going to try the Note 7 this year.... But only if and when they announce root has been achieved on the Note 7. I'm on ZV6 rooted, and I'd rather have root than the latest and greatest OS so LG can keep MM and N. Don't need it if I gotta give up root.
