I've just flashed my XZ1C to the newest Customized UK firmware with US OEM.sin (for fingerprint sensor) without flashing /data.
Everything is OK until I go to the settings APP...

I don't know it's caused by the newest firmware it self or it's because I didn't flash /data ?.
Any ideas about it?

Factory reset might fix it, but most likely a complete reflash, wiping data. This has been reported before on the thread, happens when you try to mix-and-match firmwares.
The following won't be news to people more experienced than I, but I managed at one point to get my phone into what I presume is a bootloop. Waiting for the right moment, and then connecting it in flash mode to the computer allowed me to use Xperia Companion to reinstall the current firmware correctly. I'm glad that Sony provides this functionality in its PC/Mac software. Perhaps in first backing up just what you need through Xperia Companion, then doing a software repair (reset/flash), and then restoring your (minimal) data would do the trick. I know how annoying these little anomalies can be, I had the weird experience of having GBoard reinstall itself on every reboot until I "fixed" the installation as I outlined above. Good luck!

Thanks for reply!
I'll try to do factory reset the phone. But I'm still wondering why this will cause the Settings APP to work like this ?
I had the problem when i first flashed the german 8.49. I had the same weird menus and txt because i had the origianl us oem. i reflashed w/ complete custom de (I don't have tmobile) and everything is back to normal. Also, I got the ota update to the current version. I assumed the problems were because the us oem was outdated, but maybe not.

Okey so basically my problem is that when I boot my SGS the notification bar force closes right after I've entered my pin-code. This problem appeared after updating the firmware to 2.3.3 through Kies. I've also rooted the phone (CF root).
Thanks for the help in advance
How did you upgrade and what did you do? By any accident you didnt apply a theme right? Just stock with wipe and cf root. Nothing more. No old settings or backups?

You must do a factory reset from the Settings menu and your problem will be solved. Make sure you back up your personal data
Cheers !!
Thanks for help! I did factory reset with CWM and now working like charm.
I got the JVB installer from samfirmware.com and followed the step to install from that website. After install, it just fine. Then, I applied the CF-root to restore titanium backup. Just restore user apps with data. Also successed.
But after reboot, I got this error:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So, i don't have statusbar after closed the alert message.
Then reflash back to stock JVB. Look like fine. Reboot and apply CF-root. Again... I got the status bar force close. Reflash back to stock JVB and then after reboot, I got it again.
Now..back to Froyo XWJS8 and criskelo. What your advice so that I can get the JVB gingerbread running fine and I can restore my titanium backup?
Well, only one advice actually. Dont restore apps from froyo on GB. Or at least not all of them?
Maybe do 10, reboot. Fine, next batch etc. You might find the culprit that way I guess.
Hey guys.
So I recently (few days ago) bought my Xperia SP (5302) EU-Global Version. I've updated it to the last 12.1.A.1.207 stock build and I wanted to root I but I noticed something strange that happen 2-3 times and I wanna ask if it's something common for the model or should I return it for a repair before I root the phone.
So basically what's happening is, when the phone is under load in very rear cases (3 times in 7-8 days) the screen will start dimming but not like when you power it off. It will start getting darker, the app icons will get almost black and after it finishes loading the task everything returns it's original color again. It basically shifts it's color tone to some really dark tone, like when you're adding some effect to a picture. Sorry, English is not my native language so I can't explain it better but if you have experienced it you, would'll know what I'm talking about.
So basically this is the question: Is this something common for the Xperia SP and I can safely root the phone, or it's just my phone and I must send it for a repair/replacement.
Thanks in advance!
You could try to reset it with Flashtool. It seems like a hardware issue but the reflash it to rule software out..

Thanks alot!
Another question.
When I bought my phone it boot up in Chinese or Japanese (not really sure) and then it had alot of apps with Japanese or Chinese characters that I disabled and I'm not really sure if that's the Global version of the software. So if I reinstall the stock ROM and I have to return it for a repair they may notice that the ROM is not the same as the one that was shipped with. Do you guys have the same apps on the Global version?
Here are the apps

}
Then you have to use Flashtool (see my thread in General) to flash a ftf file that does not come with that bloatware

it's not a hardware issue...it's a common bug on .205, .207

Hello friends, I am from Latin America, I have the SM-305G device, the phone is bought from a telephone company, I had problems with FRP, I used ODIN, downloading the combination software, but the error is always the same: please get the approval to use factory binaries (pit), I have downloaded the pit file from a server, it has not worked, also extracted through MIRACLE BOX, but the problem persists always, I also used the Z3x tool, but I did not get results, now I come here to that can give me a hand and thus be able to solve this.

1/ the device must be unlocked.
2/TWRP does not work 100% in Android 12 and restoring from Android 11 to 12 will cause problems assuming that the backup is possible.

Were you able to find a fix for this problem. Had updated it to MIUI13 (India) a month back but had suddenly started rebooting immediately when data or wifi is turned on.

yeah the annoying fix called the factory reset. I didn't find any other fix for this.
Been trying to root my XZ1 compact for a while now. Never knew it'd be this complicated tbh compared to other Android phones like Samsung or OnePlus. I'm following j4nn's guide, but I'm stuck on step 2 where I can't find an older firmare on XperiFirm (all 3 UK firmwares are on pie). I've already bricked my Z5 compact which is stuck in bootloop, can't afford to brick another Sony phone.
Does anyone know where I can find an Oreo firmware to downgrade in order to proceed to the next step?
If it's in a bootloop, then it's not bricked. You probably need to format one of the partitions, maybe data, and/or re-flash matching partitions. I'd just start over from a stock rom for the Z5c (there was no XZ5)
For the XZ1, check out this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...int-wi-fi-calling-step-by-step-guide.4502093/
Where eparr has a link for an Oreo firmware (he needs to root before modding the OEM partition).
Good luck!

Might sound odd but where is the actual link to the firmware? All thats attached is an apk file and pdf's.
Did you look through the PDFs? They're how-to guides, which include a link to the firmware.
> Download the XZ1-Compact_MetroPCS_VoLTE+Pie+FP.zip (5.2GB).

So I've been trying to flash a stock rom that I downloaded for the Z5c using Newflasher. However everytime I try to it keeps giving me this error:

Is your phone in flash mode? I think it should be a blue light that you get after plugging in while holding the volume down(? might be up) button.
You could also try a different usb port on the computer (try without a hub) and make sure you have the right drivers installed.
But either way, that error is likely a PC software one. Though it does depend on what the phone is able of doing, which you haven't said.
