Been trying to root my XZ1 compact for a while now. Never knew it'd be this complicated tbh compared to other Android phones like Samsung or OnePlus. I'm following j4nn's guide, but I'm stuck on step 2 where I can't find an older firmare on XperiFirm (all 3 UK firmwares are on pie). I've already bricked my Z5 compact which is stuck in bootloop, can't afford to brick another Sony phone.
Does anyone know where I can find an Oreo firmware to downgrade in order to proceed to the next step?
If it's in a bootloop, then it's not bricked. You probably need to format one of the partitions, maybe data, and/or re-flash matching partitions. I'd just start over from a stock rom for the Z5c (there was no XZ5)
For the XZ1, check out this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...int-wi-fi-calling-step-by-step-guide.4502093/
Where eparr has a link for an Oreo firmware (he needs to root before modding the OEM partition).
Good luck!

Might sound odd but where is the actual link to the firmware? All thats attached is an apk file and pdf's.
Did you look through the PDFs? They're how-to guides, which include a link to the firmware.

So I've been trying to flash a stock rom that I downloaded for the Z5c using Newflasher. However everytime I try to it keeps giving me this error:

Is your phone in flash mode? I think it should be a blue light that you get after plugging in while holding the volume down(? might be up) button.
You could also try a different usb port on the computer (try without a hub) and make sure you have the right drivers installed.
But either way, that error is likely a PC software one. Though it does depend on what the phone is able of doing, which you haven't said.

I think your model number is k50a40. Follow this guide for flash TWRP recovery.

I've installed the latest stable firmware by SP Flash (K50-T5_USR_ST1614_5.294.1_1604011150_mp1V2.39_CN) but now I was reading about that the Marshmallow roms need to be flashed with patched boot image for custom recoveries. I've just found S422_Patched_boot.img (I hope that file is all what I need). Could sb explain me how to do this?? The next move will be gapps/root and finally try to fix IMEI on my yellow but I am stuck...

I don't know flashing patched boot.img is required to flash custom recovery. I flashed custom recovery directly without flashing patched boot image and it working well.
OK I did it. If u have K30-T5 (MarshalRom 6.0) it will works. Instruction below.
1. Copie K50-T5_PATCHED_BOOT_1621_DEV.RAR file to your device
2 Flash TWRP 3.x via SP Flash
3. Enter to the installed Recovery Mode
4. Choose instal that file what I've wrote above
5. Swipe to confirm Flash
6. Reboot system
I want to fix my IMEI now. I'd like to use SN Writer but I don't know which file MD1DB, and APDB should I select on Marshmallow.

I don't know it's caused by the newest firmware it self or it's because I didn't flash /data ?.
Any ideas about it?

Factory reset might fix it, but most likely a complete reflash, wiping data. This has been reported before on the thread, happens when you try to mix-and-match firmwares.
The following won't be news to people more experienced than I, but I managed at one point to get my phone into what I presume is a bootloop. Waiting for the right moment, and then connecting it in flash mode to the computer allowed me to use Xperia Companion to reinstall the current firmware correctly. I'm glad that Sony provides this functionality in its PC/Mac software. Perhaps in first backing up just what you need through Xperia Companion, then doing a software repair (reset/flash), and then restoring your (minimal) data would do the trick. I know how annoying these little anomalies can be, I had the weird experience of having GBoard reinstall itself on every reboot until I "fixed" the installation as I outlined above. Good luck!

Thanks for reply!
I'll try to do factory reset the phone. But I'm still wondering why this will cause the Settings APP to work like this ?
I had the problem when i first flashed the german 8.49. I had the same weird menus and txt because i had the origianl us oem. i reflashed w/ complete custom de (I don't have tmobile) and everything is back to normal. Also, I got the ota update to the current version. I assumed the problems were because the us oem was outdated, but maybe not.
I tried to root my phone and failed. The phone is stuck on trying to boot up. I have tried to download the firmware files and recover but keep getting an error with it. I have no idea what to do from here and feel so stupid for doing this.
Exact model of the phone SM950F/DS. the phone is also unlocked to all networks

Can anyone help
..
The firmware you trying to flash is to old. I could bet, you are already on Oreo firmware. That firmware you try to flash is an old nougat firmware with old boatloader. And you can't downgrade the bootloader. That's the reason why the flash process failed.
Use the latest available Oreo firmware for your country.
Edit:
And don't select re-partition in Odin!

Are you using the latest Odin when trying to flash the filmware? (Needed for Oero)
The rooting function properly failed and has locked your device into Downloading Mode. You could try and take your device to a Samsung Service Center. They maybe able to help you.

<<<PLEASE>>> I need help. "Nand writer start" and does nothing else
Hello everyone, I have a problem, if you can help me, I want to put the rom stock of android 8 but when I put the 4 odin files it stays in "Nand writer start" and does nothing else. I have flashed many phones but never I had this problem. The mobile is not rooted or anything strange, it has the factory Android 9 ROM.
I have tried odin 3.09,3.10 and 3.10.7 and the problem persists.
What can happen?? :crying::crying:

I'm assuming you're trying to downgrade to a version with a lower bootloader version/number, which you can't do
You can only downgrade to the version with the same bootloader number.
So I can't downgrade to the android version 8?
did you tried with another tool?

Yes. I tried with odin 3.09,3.10 ,3.10.7, 3.13 and another ROMs the sammobile :crying:
The bootloader is locked in Pie after each OS update to prevent us from downgrading the OS on our devices.
Could this be the solution?

read up all about downgrading bootloaders( its not possible). check what your phone currently has then check what youre flashing. the 5th character (number) starting from the right when checking firmware build is the BL revision.
u can flash an equal or greater build. not a lower one.
also only 3.11.x and 3.13.x and future odin versions work on note 9 to flash firmware files.
in the picture u posted, your issue is the odin build.( ure using and old 3.09.x build)
while rooting might alow you to flash a custom rom(oem unlock is the 1 step to rooting) that is oreo based, not sure why one would want to do this. Q is just around the corner and keeping devices up to date now a days should be paramount.
Thank you very much.
I tried this to unlock the OEM and it forces you to format the smartphone completely, it doesn't work.
