Hi. I'm currently using SM-N950F/DS in South Korea with CSC XSA.
There's no Korean CSC in SM-N950F/DS
I want to know which CSCs support LTE CA (Carrier Aggregation) and VoLTE (Voice Over LTE).
Like my case, I want to get the answer from who live in a country which does not have a CSC in SM-N950F/DS.
I tried XSA, OPS, BOG, SFR, O2U.
As I tried, these CSCs support VoLTE in South Korea.
But XSA and OPS does not support LTE CA in South Korea.
BOG, SFR, and O2U has a problem of loosing signal in South Korean network. (LTE Band1 (2100MHz), LTE Band5 (850MHz), LTE Band7 (2600MHz))
Thanks.
which carrier are you using in South Korea? SK Telecom, kt Olleh, or LG U+ ?
If you're already rooted/ KNOX tripped, just flash the correct Korean carrier's CSC. I can make a zip for you if you need it.

With out rooting have you accessed the menu through dialer?
Nougat. Only. May not work with oreo.....
From phone dialer
Dial
319712358
Then unlock code
0821 for LG
996412 for skt
774632 for. Kt
Then select volte settings
Then select ims switching
The click every option... volte video calls.. the only option you don't select is supplementary options
Close window. Reopen dialer. Will show
. Hd dialer. And video call icon

Thanks for your reply. I already tried that. Since my phone's firmware is SM-N950F/DS, and the CSC is not Korean CSC, this secret code is not working.

Hi, when I go into IMS Switching, it's asking me for OTP Authentication
I can't go in there.
I had Volte enabled before, I disabled it somehow and want to enable it again, but forgot how I had disabled.
The main reason why I had disabled was that, with this Korean version while Volte was enabled, I could not make conference calls. Now I can. But I want to know how to enable Volte again and how to make conference calls / merge calls

As it turns out with Oreo. If you turn off developer mode the phone will automatically switch into volte when available

Hi folks,
Recently flashed my Omnia 7 to the generic retail UK rom to get rid of the T-Mobile splash screen and search.
Trouble is, I have lost the 3G toggle option.
I have the option to toggle 3G data, but not the cell.
Any ideas? Is the T-Mo UK rom the only one that can switch between 2G and 3G?

That's for 3G data, not cell. Like I said in my thread post. *Facepalm*
If you are homebrew enabled the Samsung Tools app can add this for you (regardless of the rom that you are using)

I don't think it's possible without homebrew unfortunately. It's controlled by a registry setting, which there is no way to modify without a homebrew program of some sort.
Edit - If you don't mind having to use an ugly GUI then you could try this to toggle 2g/3g (doesn't require DEV unlock):

I have US Cellular N920R4 (NOTE 5) and trying to get it to work on Cricket -
Step 1- The phone was factory reset before putting in Cricket sim, after booting under setting >> Mobile Networks>> Network mode - I set it to LTE/GSM/UMTS
Step - 2 Under Network Operators - I selected the manual option and searched for providers - the search showed AT&T, Verizon and US cellular - I selected AT&T
Step -3 Under APN - I manually added Cricket APN -
Now I do get AT&T for a short time, I'm able to make and receive calls and SMS - Also get 4G in my menu - but after a few minutes I loose AT&T and the phone reverts to Verizon -
Can someone suggest what could be the issue ?
Also can someone share how to get to hidden menu band option (On other versions it is possible to get to it using *#2263#) and is there an option to change "System Select" under mobile networks to be changed from "CDMA roaming mode" ?

There's an app in the playstore called Samsung Phone Info and it has a function that will launch the full service mode root menu allowing you to get to all the available service screens, I'd just search that and download the free version by vndnguyen....

Sorry, but did you click enhanced LTE services? It should bring up a icon to your desktop. Click it then it should take you to a additional page where you can check/uncheck the option.

Nice trick. I wonder why this isn't available in the regular menu anymore. Any other hidden settings like this we should be aware of?
Does VoLTE make any difference in call quality? HD Voice with T-Mobile users seems exactly the same, and calls with other carriers sound terrible with VoLTE to begin with. It does not seem worth leaving VoLTE enabled, since you lose out on conference call management features.
Edit: I just tested a call with someone on a different carrier with VoLTE turned off, and the call quality was significantly better than when VoLTE was enabled. Seems like there is no advantage to VoLTE except maybe signal availability in areas where there is no GSM signal?

HD voice is volte man.... Hence the HD part. It's using your data network to make the call. If you call someone that doesn't have volte capability, it's going to sound a lot worse, but they use to have it baked in to not use volte if the other person didn't have it. I guess now they just re convert the signal instead
HD Voice and VoLTE are not the same thing. VoLTE is merely the carriage of voice over LTE. It's use is mandated by the GSM Association, and it uses the HD Voice codec to turn your words into a digital signal. HD Voice is what has become the trade name of a particular voice codec, AMR Wideband (AMR-WB). HD Voice operates over UMTS and GSM, it is not unique to LTE.
Even with VoLTE turned off, we still get HD voice calls between T-Mobile users and it sounds generations better than other calls.

Turning off volte also turns off HD voice in tmobile phones.
Volte can be disabled from Settings, Connections, Mobile Networks, 4G Call. (if T-Mobile let it there)

Not all, and even then for the ones that behave that way, if you drop down to 3G (HSPA+) you still retain HD-Voice (AMR-WB)
HD-Voice is not VoLTE
VoLTE is not WiFi calling

No I know that. But while I was in the settings menu for it, whenever I turned off VOLTE, it auto turned off HD voice and grayed it out
Thanks for this, for whatever reason my VoLTE was disabled by default. Was wondering why my outgoing calls dropped to 4G all the time.
Guys
I am planning to buy Samsung Note 8 HK Version 256 GB, but i need your help to tell me if it will work in the middle east specially the stores
From my previous experience in other phones -(LG), the LG store didn't work in my country
Thanks
any help please ??
Well I always recommend to get devices in the country where they are going to be used, mostly for warranty claim
Just assume/count on it that Samsung in your home country will not provide any support whatsoever if you bought the phone from other country...
Hi,
I have the HK version 256GB and it works fine in the Gulf, no issues. The only problem is Samsung Pay and VOLTE. If you care about those 2 features, don't buy it. Otherwise, it works like a normal GN8 without any issues whatsoever. As for the store, if you mean Play Store, no issues either, I can download any app. By the way, all Middle East versions are Exynos and the HK/Chinese and US versions are Snapdragon. In comparison to my friends Exynos, it seems to consume less battery.
Regards,
Moe

I've never used Nova Launcher so not sure if it has a similar feature. Try this....
Install Shortcut Master & launch 467 IMS Settings. If you have Phone INFO installed it has Shortcut Master built in.
Under IMS Service Switch see if you have toggles for VoLTE & RCS & if they are not greyed out. Enable all the toggles or at least just the VoLTE ones. Should enable instantly but you can a reboot would if not. If this doesn't work then you'll probably need a CSC change to get it workingg.
my samsung note 8, 6+256, sm n9500 can not used volte. There is no option for volte. Please tell me how to do and how to enable/support volte. kindly text me in the following mail. [email protected]
would it be possible to get the samsung called ID imported to the tmobile firmware? Tmobile offers there own but samsungs option is far more superior and free.
https://www.samsung.com/global/galaxy/apps/smart-call/
The unlocked firmware offers this but of course they are still on 8.1 and tmobile firmware offers RCS, vvm and video calling.
For anybody who is still curious about this question, it would seem that carriers like T-Mobile and Verizon that offer who own paid Caller ID service remove Smart Calling from their official firmware.
The only way around it is to flash a Samsung ROM with Samsung Smart Call baked into the firmware. No way around this since some carrier specific firmware removes the feature from the device all together.

Screenshot? Is Samsung Phone your default dialer and Caller ID & Spam app?
yes default samsung phone caller id app
Smart call is grayed out? Under Phone settings, there should be a "Caller ID and Spam" section. There you can select the type of spam blocking you want. That is the Smart Call feature.
What exactly is grayed out?
Also, word of advice.. it's crap. It used to be good but now it's terrible. It can't search places nearby anymore either. You're much better off just using Google Phone. As with most Samsung features, Smart Calling is an outdated feature
