Change service provider - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Guys I am trying to change my service provider from o2 to INS , can anyone let me know how I can do that , thanks.

You're aready on INS. The first 2 is all that matters. The last code is the factory retail CSC of the phone & won't affect anything. You can't change it, well you can but you need root & it's not simple, risk screwing up something if you don't know what you are doing.

I am in a major fix...Can anyone please help me

Hi Guys,
I just snagged a T-Mobile G1 off eBay in India and turning it on I found that pattern unlock thingy. Not knowing what the pattern was I did the wrong pattern 5 times and then got stuck on the username/pwd screen.I couldnot go anywhere after that.I consulted some guys on the net and they asked me to give it the alt+w treatment. An voila, now my phone is asking to be reactivated via google. I neither have a T-Mobile SIM, nor am I in T-Mobile coverage. How do i unlock my phone? Is there any way I can flash some unlocked ROM into it so I could get some actual service out of my device other than being a friggin' paper weight. Did I completely fry it?Is there any hope? Please help me....
Thanks
Its not fried... but you will need to flash a modified firmware. But in order to do this you need root access. So, you will need to borrow someone else's T-Mobile sim card. Change your APN at the login page to use the Edge network (there are guides on here on doing that) and then login. Gain root access with again, another guide we have written on that. Finally, flash a modified G1 firmware, preferably JF or Haykuro builds which allow you to skip all that. However.. what service do you even plan on using with your G1? Understand that likely only ATT/ Cingular will work minus the 3G coverage which abolishes pretty much half the functions on the G1, but either way thats what you need to do first.
You dont need tmobile to unlock it from that screen, you can enter apn settings for your area and connect to any local network.
I'm in norway and I could activate mine just fine, I just had to put in my carrier's settings in the apn screen. Also worth noting that you can only get to the data roaming screen if you restart the phone (it'll say "you have lost network connectivity <something>" and allow you to open that screen).
downgrade to rc 29 using dream img from how to downgrade. then look at how to activate without sim topic. activate and voila ur good to go

[Q] Isn't Galaxy note automatically identifies APNs and stuff?

I live in toronto and trying to buy a white galaxy note .
i previously had 2 black galaxy notes, and they had no problems at all to find the APN settings for rogers, bell, and telus automatically. data and everything worked perfectly without setting up. those phones were from germany.
I went to the pacific mall yesterday, and i was looking for a white version.
first of all, she lied to me that the phone is from europe but when i checked its firmware it was the latest Hongkong firmware not european.
second, when i put my simcard in it, it did not detect rogers APN and she manually typed it in setting. i told her the phone is supposed to find APN settings automatically but she said it cannot find it automatically and she was typing APN for every single phone she sold. (she probably didn't remember me buying 2 phones without having to do that kinda stuff .. )
My question is.. that is it related to more like firmware problems? then I could just Odin it to the european firmware and it will be automatic?
Please, if you have any kind of informations.. please let me know...
Few days without my NOTE have been just miserable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks
I can feel your pain
I have a European version, and it automatically finds all the apn numbers.
But I thought that these were preprogrammed in the simcard? Did not know that the rom-version could have anything to do with it?
Not sure if it helps you but im using xxkl7?

I thought so too until yesterday... but she was literally searching and typing right in front of me
conversation was like
She: all the galaxy notes are supposed be like this!
Me: what about 2 of my previous phones i perchased here?
she: we always do it in the back before we sell it to customer
Me: I thought you gave me brand new in box SEALED
and then she couldn't say anything and after 5 seconds she said ..
i don't know if you don't want it don't buy it.
seriously...
Its not the phone's fault that it dint detect the apn.
Its the firmware.
When i got note almost 4 months ago, i had to configure the settings by myself and i stil have to do it , when i install certain roms.

the one i am trying to buy is an international version and two of my previous ones were working perfectly without creating my own apn setting..
looks like you are using the LTE note released in canada..
if your phone originally was locked with other phone company than the one you are using right now, your phone might not have any other apn setting other than its original one, As far as I know.
I have the international version (I assume, I bought it from expansys), and it worked first time out of the box.
I have a Hong Kong Note with 2.3.5 and it found the Telus apns for me. I was surprised becasue I was expecting to have to enter them manually.
APN is related to CSC
If your CSC is not set correctly, It may not set APN automatically.
*#272*IMEI# show your sales code. If it set correct to your country code, it should have no problem
If your country code not appears, you have to flash CSC separately
NOTE : Flashing CSC or Changing CSC will wipe off data.

[Q] SKT SHV-E160 Admin Code Problem...

Ok I'm wondering if someone could help me out here. I picked up a Korean SKT Galaxy Note today, however the LTE isn't compatible with docomo's network. I did some searching online and found that there is a code you can put into the dialer to access a STK hidden menu, which ultimately let's you alter the phone to accept WCDMA frequencies and such. The code is:
319712358
However the phone then requires a password. I found 774632 as the password but when I put in the sequence, nothing happens.
I bought this phone used for 65,000 yen (about $720) and it is apparently unlocked, as I can use my docomo number without a problem. I desperately want to keep the phone (the store said I could return it) but have no use for it without the data, and thus would be incredibly grateful if someone could help me out...
May be try to use 996412 instead of 774632

anyone know a way to add an apn?

I'm trying to use an AT&T MVNO with the watch, but i need to add it's apn. that doesnt seem to be an option in android wear, so does anyone know how to add an APN without root?
There doesn't seem to be one, it definitely should be an option though!
Bought lg Watch sport a281
Bought lg Watch sport , got unlock code from AT&T , but I don’t know how to unlock it ? Could anyone tell me ? Thank
They aren't locked in the first place, so you don't need the unlock code, well mine from AT&T wasn't (a280)
Fortunately my carrier in the UK, Giffgaff, automatically creates the APN, which I use in my international version (a281).

Question How do I disable "Switch and Restart" for a new SIM/CSC?

I have SM-G998W XAC, Currently on BMC. I used *#272*IMEI# to switch my CSC to RWC because One UI 4.1 just came out on Rogers. I just wanted to see if my Bell SIM will still work on RWC. And now my phone is telling me that the CSC is RWC as expected, but it's detecting the Bell SIM which is good, however, it won't let me do anything, it's stuck on this forced notification telling me I have to wipe my phone because the CSC/SIM is changed.
What in the actual hell is this? I switch CSC and suddenly the phone wants to delete everything? Can't even switch SIM's now and the phone forcefully wants to format?!
I can't even backup the phone now because of this. I can only hit Emergency call, and then quickly go back, which gives me a brief 10 seconds of use before the Notification wall pops up and blocks all user input.
I tried doing this over and over in 10 second intervals to get to the backup screen and start the back up. But once the notification comes up, it pauses the damn back up on me lol.
Samsung is getting kind of brutal with this Apple tendency forced update behaviors. I have to format my phone just to use a different CSC/SIM. Ridiculous. Not to mention the fact that this is XAC, and on setup, it forcefully installs all of the Carrier bloat apps as soon as a SIM is installed. So now there's no point buying direct from Samsung, unless it's specifically for a limited colour only. You get bloat apps no matter what on One UI 4.0/4.1.
/rant
Anyway, does anyone know how to remove whatever it is causing this notification using ADB? Cause as long as it's not there, the phone works fine, can access whatever like normal, and I still have fully working 5G. I just need this savage notification to stop coming up, and I'll still be able to switch CSC or SIM at free will like I should be able to with my own damn phone instead of forcefully being told I need to erase all data just to use a different carrier.
The procedure with the imei you need to wipe the phone in order to work correct . Why did you change the CSC with this way and you did not flash the rom with ODIN ?
Are you able to get 4.1 by this methog? i am on telus but no update yet.
I just used an old Rogers Sim which was deactivated and immediately got the update.
After update I just popped in my telus sim
No data was erased.
I dont know why your ranting when you've done something to your own phone that is clearly something you shouldn't do as just an experiment. Even then, any experiment begins with a full backup. No ifs, no buts. Your rant is on the basis that it wants to factory reset which I am yet to see a guide on CSC that DOESNT warn you about this. The only person to be angry at is yourself I'm afraid.
You clearly have some idea about CSC to do what you've done so far but you have also failed to understand the full extent of what CSC is and its implications for changing it. Its primary function is if you change country but countries like the US have carrier specific CSCs too. When you change it, it updates various things to ensure the device is compliant with that countries regulations such as changing how the modem operates (which frequencies to use). These are low-level adjustments which need a factory reset to work correctly. You say 5G works but that is because you've gone from one carrier CSC to another that happens to use the same infrastructure. Thats just being lucky. This wouldn't necessarily be the case if you changed your CSC to another country. An example is if you use a UK CSC. Because we don't use mmWave over here the UK CSC will switch off that part of the modem. Your modem would still get 5G but never mmWave 5G. As far as the phone is concerned, the CSC change means your in a different country even though your not but thats because of how CSC has been hijacked by networks for something it was never designed to do.
I will say this though. The fact its letting you boot your phone and asking you to reset is something new to me. CSC changes I've done before have reset the phone immediately which would make it too late to do anything.
The moral of this story is two-fold. Firstly, check, check and check again that you know what it is your doing. A lot of people read guides that say doing X will result in Y but dont realise that it will also cause Z (or ignore Z) because they're too focused on making Y happen. Secondly, don't experiment on your daily driver and certainly not without any backups beforehand. I know no solution that won't reset your phone any way so I think you're resolved to resetting it and learning a valuable lesson.
