I was wondering if the dual tone flash has two seperate LED's? or if its only one LED powering the two coloured plastic parts. Based on close inspection mine only has one led powering the two slots. A quick reply would be appreciated, thanks!
Anyone?
Mine has 2 . One is white and the other is orange .
I got 2 also. It flash white and then orange.
Two LEDs here. It produces pure white light while focusing and nice warm tone flash later. Single LED is not capable of doing it.
When using the torch, does the White LED only turn on?
Both on mine

That's how it works on pretty much every single Huawei/Honor device. Why? I have no idea.
I'm not an expert, but cooler white LED's have lesser power consumption (Lumen per Watt). So if you want to use the LED as a flashlight, cooler light is more efficient and they don't need to cool the module too much. I like the warm one as a flash, but I still miss the Xenon Flash from old Sony Ericsson Phones
Noone uses it long enough to make 7-10% difference neigligible. Turning the flashlight on for couple of hours makes no difference either.
More - LED efficiency depends on the current. Split the same current for two diodes and they'll make even more light! And since the other one is a warm one, light itself will be much higher quality. There's absolutely no reason to use just one LED as a flashlight.

I almost trade in my cruise, but I noticed that the LED on the earpice does not blink..we tried to plug the charger, does not turn orange or green..so I back out..the store dont want me to open a second one.
I saw a guy buying in Fortress (in HK, it's been here since last Friday), and it does not blink as well... well but it really looks like a LED on it..
looking for the brochures.....to check
Sure it's not just the light sensor?
It probably is, the scroll weel thing seems to do all the blinking.
its definitely a light sensor
Cheers
LB
Yes it’s a light sensor. I mentioned this in an earlier thread. It allows the backlight to adjust automatically to its surroundings.
Sorry evryone..just got mine...
It is the light sensor...too much on my Cruise...
ok, so there is no led on the diamond? that s not common for an htc, and that s not very convenient to know if you missed some calls or if your device if fully charged etc

Lol there is an array of lights around the directional control. It lights up veyr nicely, and much more noticeably than the tiny LEDs on previous HTC devices. It glows with a slow pulsating when charging, and flashes when there is a missed call or SMS (according to your preference settings).
"It glows with a slow pulsating when charging" and when charging is over it stops pulsating or is a solid light ?

It's smarter and it blends in very nicely with the look of the phone.
Very nice at night when the phone is being charged in the dark

especially for the color blind folks like me. i could never determine whether my device is fully charged without turning on.
thanks to htc, i can do that now...
Hello everyone, I'm new to these forums as well as a new Xperia X1 owner.
I love pretty much everything about this phone except I find one issue that doesn't seem up to par to my previous phones and I can't seem to find a way to adjust it.
Basically, if there is a missed call or a new text that I don't see right away, and my phone goes black (stand by), the 4 lights that light up around the phone seem to have really long intervals and barely flash. I feel like I have to stare at the phone for a good 5 seconds before I see a flash and it's not even that bright.
Is there an adjustment that I'm not seeing, or a way to adjust the intervals and brightness? I can't be the only one with this problem, my old phones had very bright and quickly blinking lights.
Thank you.
advanced config offers some options on that (at least patterns, not sure on brightness), illumineria in themes&apss even more
have a look, best
What sort of notification LED does the Galaxy Note have? I've used three different Android phones since the original G1 and it feels like they're turning into pretty useless two or three colour things now. The G1 had a multi-colour LED, something like six or seven colour choices, as did my Motorola Milestone but my current phone, the HTC Desire HD, has a pathetic tri-colour LED. I was seriously considering the new One X but that has a dual-colour LED!
Anyway.. getting sidetracked. Can a Note user please tell me what, if any, notification LED the phone has and what colours it can display if it does have one? I know this won't be a big deal to a lot of people but I relied pretty heavily on the multiple colours in the past.
it has none.
None.
But, you can install a custom kernel that supports notification light and software to enable indicator light, such as when you have a new email. Then your soft buttons will be lit up.
I think there's also variations of quality on those soft touch lights. I had two Note, one had clear soft light on the soft button, the other had dirty looking light on the soft buttons. Both works fine, but just something to know.

as what jeremy.chan and hp79 have said that the SGN has no notification indicator. but if we are taking about custom kernel to have the touch key light as the indicator, it will be white in color.

The only notification LED you can have is the soft touch keys backlight. It will be white in color and you can change the blinking rate to your custom setting.
You require root and a custom kernel like abyss which supports this and attain the said functionality by using this app - https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDEsIm5lbGRhci5ibG4uY29udHJvbC5mcmVlIl0.
Hit thanks if it helped
If your on stock rom, install Noled app from market.
Thanks for the replies everyone, I appreciate it It's strange to see such a useful feature missing or reduced from what it started out as but I'm sure there are reasons behind it.

Bad Samsung user interface? Samsung arrogance? Silly patents? Doubt there's a good reason.
But you aint gonna change it, so you'll just have to live with it!

i never noticed it until i read your post. it's actually amazing!
It's possible make a notification like the iPhone 4 ?, whit the flash led, if you have a notification blink two times or something similar.
PD: sorry for my english
Hi, I think that the notification LEd of our HTC One is really poor. It really small and also not very bright, so it's very hard to see if you are not in a dark place.
But I noticed that when the battery is empty, or nearly empty, and you plug in the charger with the phone turned off, the LED is much brighter than usual.
So I wonder if it would be possible to make a hack for increase its brightness for every notification.
Thanks!

+1 here. No solution yet...
My led died last December. I don't miss it. But I was on the search for a brighter light too. I know that there are some hacks but I don't know exactly where and what.

Are you sure it's not just covered with dust or something? Try cleaning out with a toothbrush, some people "recovered" its led and loudness after cleaning

Yeah I'm pretty sure. I cleaned it very often it's dead and I don't care anymore. It's not worse to me.
Okay, I fixed my LED brightness.
It really was very very dim in phone's standby regime. Entering the bootloader or and other on/off procedure was setting orange led ON FIRE! That means there is a lot of power getting lost somewhere. In the /system/sys/class/leds/amber and /system/sys/class/leds/green there is a file named "pwm_coefficient" that determines LED's strength. I was unable to edit it on my (stock 5.0.1) kernel, but somebody may be able to do that, and alter the default value of "5" to something like "255" which I believe is maximum.
Anyhow, as a last resort (being so frustrated not being able to see my notifications on time) I decided to physically clean the LED's hole. I used an extra spiked toothpick (just give it a nice touch with a sharp knife, to make it super pointy and thin) and stuck it inside, rotating vigorously. It turns out that was it, it's as bright as new.
Still I wonder why dirty LED was shining brighter prior to boot?
Is it just me, or is the LED on the S5 disappointing? Compared to the S3 (my last phone), it is dimmer and smaller. Why would Samsung do that? If anything, we should get a nice big bright LED with customizable blink and color patterns for different notifications. The stock notifications blink really slow and are real dim. In fact, when they came out with Android 5.0, they made it even dimmer. Major bummer! I just don't understand WHY they would dumb down the LED and why there's so few (if any) settings to customize it. Now we have to install battery-hogging apps like Light Flow to customize the LED, but it's still dim. Very disappointed!
Maybe it is like this to save battery life.... but it's annoying

i use light manger and its amazing
Not sure if its just me but the flash is brighter on the S5 in camera mode but when using as a torch the led is a lot brighter on the S3. I would assume its to do with slowing the battery drain as mentioned by @sefuleo
