Hello fellow Sprint S5 users!
I'm back with my recent findings while snooping around. It looks like you can decrease the time it takes the phone to search for LTE.
1.) Dialer app
2.) ##3282#
3.) edit
4.) enter MSL number (you get this from sprint) (just say you are running diagnostics)
5.) BSR
6.) Timer Menu
7.) nextLTEScan timer
8.) Mine was set to 5 (minutes?)
9.) Change to lower minute value for quicker scan.
10.) Restart the phone.
It looks like it has workd for people in this forum post: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/4201-3g-to-4g/?p=167339
When more towers light up in my area I may lower this down to say 2-3 minutes. Can anyone confirm this lowers the connect time in a Spark launched area?
*Dont change anything you are not comfortable with!*
This has been happening randomly for a few months. I can go days when notifications are fine and they come through on my phone immediately. Then, for no reason, there are days when no notification show at all until I wake my phone.
They're clearly being blocked and my phone only attempts to pull them in when I wake it. Like a doze setting
It all started around the time Marshmallow 6.01 landed on the phone.
All battery saving optimisation settings are off.
All notifications are set to on.
I have tried EVERY app that I can find to set the Google heartbeat interval to a lower time. None solve the issue.
Factory reset doesn't fix it.
I have (always on) fiber internet so idle timeout settings on the router cannot be to blame for killing the Google heartbeat check.
I have tried it on mobile data only and it is the same
Other people online have had the same issues on other Samsung devices but I can't find anyone suffering from this on the Note 5.
Could it be an issue (somehow) with my Google account, since all notifications have to be pushed through this?
Worried that if I get a new phone I'll still have the same issue.
Any help would be appreciated.
are u using greenify??? what android u have 6.0.1 ??? did u try on smart manager / battery / to not optimize app u want get notification????
N920c/64g/cc n7 port v3/ arise sound/ doulby /xposed greenify+powernap+amplify
Not got Greenify.
Not enabled any power saving at all.
All apps are set to notify
Either the phone is blocking notifications randomly, or my Google account is.
Looking for some help on two issues.
1. Att Samsung stock messages app shows u read count 11 when I get 1 message and 12 when I get 2 messages etc. Called att and did clear cache, clear data, toggle advanced messages on off. They recommended dumping the system cache but I cant get past the boot download screen on the phone to do so. I have also done a factory reset with no luck.
2. Google location accuracy pop up keeps coming up. I toggle my location on an off and the agree disagree to improve location services Google pop up comes up over and over again for apps, wifi calling, etc. If I hit agree it changes the phone into high accuracy mode with wifi bluetooth and location. If I disagree makes phone only location method. It seems to never stick when I hit agree. It like each time I turn off the location and turn it back on it forgets what I chose the time before.
Any help would be appreciated. I love this phone but these issues are driving me crazy.
Hey guys
I've not been impressed by the battery life on my phone and so I decided to give it a test. I charged to 100% and unplugged it when I went to bed. I suffered 39% battery drain over night
Amy suggestions on what I should do here?
Device info
I suggest you to install better battery stats to check what's the issue. Android stats are too generic
*#*#4636#*#* Set your primary sim to be the correct setting and set your secondary sim to be same(even if you don't have one).
Setings->Sim cards & mobile networks Turn off Dual 4G. Select your sim and under Preferred network type, select LTE.
I'd noticed on a battery drain thread someone talking about how aggressively these phones try to jump networks. Once I told mine what I'd like to do, it seemed to massively help my battery life. Every update I've gotten seems to have reset all these settings and so it's pretty easy to tell(on my phone) when I've gotten a big update(as my battery goes to the crapper and I have to fix my settings). I'm down to 24 hours till I can unlock my phone and I'm hoping eu rom is going to stop doing this crap.

OK I will do that and let it discharge while I'm at work.

When you say "set your primary sim to the correct setting" do you I should set it to just LTE under the preferred network type on this screen?
Wifi is active forever = you might need to remove "allow wifi search" in "location services"
You need to set both 'phones' to LTE/WCDMA in that 'Testing' menu, even when you only have 1 SIM because in that case the 'Phone 2' is the SIMcard-less 'emergency only' mode and will cause drain when set to the wrong protocols (for your region). Secondly, after a reboot these settings get reset, so you need to do it on each boot for the stock ROM (at least I have to, on the latest global ROM in the EU). That solved my 'Cell Standby' drain, now it only uses 1 or 2% over night (I still get a lot of messages during the night from certain chat-groups, so ymmv).
Thanks for the help guys this seems to have done the trick
This is definitely the battery life I was expecting!
May i ask you which settings did you applied ? I have same problem. Also do these settings effects anything about mobile data, network or sim usage ?

Changing the network through the dialer menu seems to be the fix for it. I got an update yesterday and had my battery drain 44% over night.... That was the only setting had changed because it reverts with each restart.

Set that to LTE/WCDMA (make sure you don't do just LTE or phone calls wont work depending on your carrier)

There is no fix yet with the official ROMs; after each reboot/restart the setting revert back to that, so you have to change it everytime.
As far as I've read- I still have 3 days to go for my unlock grace-period to test it myself - the custom ROMs don't revert it back on restart.
If you're not into custom ROMs, your best bet it reporting it as a bug as frequently and in as many official places (Mi Forum, Mi Community, Feedback app in phone) as possible; so that they hopefully fix it in an update ....

was thinking of buying this phone but seems too buggy. Thanks for the heads up
Something similar I suppose. Battery is draining fast and seems like "Android" is the culprit
