I am looking into buying HTC one when it comes out here in the US. But, i was wondering if Google Wallet is part of the HTC one and if the HTC one supports it.. Can anyone who tried the phone share any info?
Is Google Wallet installed or you have to install it from Google Play?
Did you try to buy something with it?
any info will be great...
thx
I buy via google wallet all the time.

So do many people but that does not answer any of my questions !!!
It would work depending on if Google has released it to work in your region.

Seriously now, did you try it or are you just guessing? and for now, please focus on US region..
It has NFC, it will most definitely have all the hardware to support Google Wallet. The problem is whether or not your carrier/region is willing to play ball, and/or whether or not XDA can hack Google Wallet into working with the ROM of choice.

Whether or not your carrier is willing to play ball. AT&T has never supported Google Wallet.

I have a Dev Edition. Google wallet is "not compatible with your device". I have not tried side-loading the APK yet. I may return the device due to many small nagging issues like this.

64gb dev version here. I tried wallet with modaco's toolbox to disable checks and it still doesnt work. However, wallet is not a big deal to me, at all. Cool to show off, nothing more, in my opinion.
just noticed the app is no longer available on the play store. i checked last to week to test, but uninstalled as the phone was listed as incompatible. anyone else not able to find the app? i assume google is not accepting the info on the build.prop as a compatible model?
It is a big deal to me... sort of. I will probably get a GoogleWallet swipe-card when they are available though, as most stores don't have NFC readers anyway here.
I hope the HTC One is eventually added to the list (does anyone know if it has the "secure element"):
http://support.google.com/wallet/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1347934
Code:
Eligible devices for use with Google Wallet
Google Wallet with tap and pay requires an NFC enabled Android device with a Secure Element chip running the most recent Android operating system. Google Wallet is available on the following devices on select carrier networks:
Phones
Samsung Nexus S 4G on Sprint
Samsung Galaxy Nexus on Sprint
Samsung Galaxy Nexus GSM/HSPA+
Samsung Galaxy Victory 4G LTE on Sprint and Virgin Mobile
Samsung Galaxy SIII on Sprint, MetroPCS, and US Cellular
Samsung Galaxy Axiom on US Cellular
LG Viper™ 4G LTE on Sprint
LG Optimus Elite™ on Sprint and Virgin Mobile
LG Nexus 4 GSM/HSPA+ (available for purchase on Google Play)
HTC EVO 4G LTE on Sprint
Tablets
Asus Nexus 7 (available for purchase on Google Play)
Samsung Nexus 10 (available for purchase on Google Play)
International Devices
At this time, Google Wallet does not support devices purchased internationally. The eligible device list above only applies to devices purchased from the listed carriers next to them. For example, an unlocked Samsung Galaxy SIII purchased internationally will not work with Google Wallet.

Did you get "Insufficient secure element privileges for this system image (release-keys)" as your error? I tried with the tool box and that's what I got on T-Mobile version.

I used this mod to get Wallet on my AT&T Galaxy S3 and I loved it. Hopefully someone can release an installer for the M7 too!
FYI, i was able to activate wallet today with no mods to the build.prop or etc. as i'm rooted, it does show the message "unsupported device" on the top, however it appears to be functional and synced to my wallet account. i'll try to test it soon to find out if it fully functional.

Kind of bizarre it isn't working on the Sprint version. Always thought Sprint was all in with Wallet, and it works on the One's predecessor.
Not a good sign, hopefully it's just a matter of something not being set up properly in the rush to get the phone released...

Would you mind sharing the apk with us? I've got root but each version I've downloaded just exits after warning that the device is not compatible.
Running TrickDroid on T-Mobile UK if it makes any difference.
Tried searching but didn't find what I'm specifically looking for; if there is a thread about this already please post a link!
I'm considering buying a N6 and I am currently on Verizon. I'd like to avoid all the Verizon app junk that usually comes on phones. Could I buy a "Verizon" N6 and flash it with the Google factory image to get rid of the Verizon junk? Or If I buy it directly from Google or Motorola and pop my Verizon nano-sim in, will lollipop start installing all the Verizon apps? Will I still be able to use Advanced Calling 1.0 features if I don't have the Verizon stuff installed?

Either way will work to get you a VZW app free N6. I also belive that if you just exit the setup wizard on initial setup of the VZW model then it won't install the apps either. Advanced calling works regardless, as long as it is enabled for that line.

I have a Verizon bought N6. And I have to say, there isn't really any Verizon ”junk" on it. Only 2 apps. Verizon Visual Voicemail, (which you may want), and My Verizon Mobile Nexus (for managing your Verizon account). That's it. If you really don't want those two apps, you could flash a custom ROM or a factory image from Google, but I know I always use the Visual Voice Mail app no matter what I'm running on my Nexus.

There isn't anything from Verizon preloaded on the phone. If you do get Verizon apps, they'll install from the Play Store because of your SIM and you can just uninstall them and be on your way.

Correct information right here.
I was worried about this as well as i purchased mine at a verizon store, but it had exactly zero verizon apps on it.
needless to say, i was extremely pleased by this.
And you can disable apps too. Like I use hangouts for my messenger so I was able to disable the stock messenger. Not rooted or anything. Yet.
I updated my S8+ to an Iphone xs maxx but keeping the S8+ as a backup. I never updated to android 8.0 and was wondering if theres a way to update the phone even though its not activated with verizon anymore? Thanks in advance!

I figured it out. I was able to update my Verizon Galaxy S8+ while using it on AT&T. There's a guide in these forums on how to do it. If you can't find it, or have trouble figuring it out, feel free to message me, i'll upload the files to Google Drive for you and walk you through it
Hello. Recently left Google Fi and a Pixel XL for Spectrum Mobile's $45 unlimited plan and a beautiful black Note 9. Spectrum Wireless runs on the Verizon network. My question is does anyone know what way I'll be getting updates for the phone? Will it be Verizon updates and security patches? Or will Spectrum wireless have separate firmware updates?
I've searched every where for answers and even called Spectrum. No answers.

Go to About Phone in Settings. Then click Software Information. Finally, scroll down to "Service provider SW ver" and tell us what's in there. Based on that, I'll be able to tell you where your updates will come from.

Your updates will be delivered through the Samsung FOTA servers, as approved by Spectrum. They are, unfortunately, still on September patch (ARH6).

I get that this is likely covering old ground, but, have you contacted Spectrum regarding updates?
https://mobile.spectrum.com/support...ions-about-spectrum-mobile-we're-here-to-help
Granted, whoever you speak with is likely clueless..... just ruling out any/all possibilities & giving Spectrum CS the benefit of the doubt that they may actually have accurate information regarding who controls /issues the actual update for your device.
My guess would be if this device has carrier specific apps/etc.... & the update will come from Spectrum.
Yes I have contacted them. They have no idea. The phone is bought straight from Samsung thru them I think. So they have no info on the devices they sell. Which is ridiculous.

He can't. Unfortunately Spectrum wireless won't allow you to bring your own device. You have to use their phones.

Hmm...that's POSSIBLE. I'm not sure as I don't have Spectrum, I just did some research on them ironically yesterday.
I would think that would work; however, remember Sprint is capable of blocking Unlocked phones from other carriers. You can't just stick your SIM in a non-Sprint phone. They have to whitelist the IMEI before it will activate.
I realize Spectrum is a Verizon MVNO, not Sprint, I'm just using Sprint as an example to say it's possible.
Plus I'm not sure Spectrum has any cheap phones.

Thank you. Very interesting. I hope it doesn't mean slower OTA releases.
I'm waiting for them to accept unlocked devices, I don't need another one. One thing to note is that Spectrum(TV/Internet end) employees do not know anything about the mobile end of it.
The new system supposedly updates through Samsung servers with some type of Android / Spectrum oversight! I like the current UI 9.5 but look forward to more darkness. When I talked to Spectrum support before/about the last wifi calling/security update they indicated late January for the next major android 9 update ?

Searched all over the internet and can’t find the latest answer.
I am ready to pull the trigger on Note 9 but dont want to deal with VZ bloatware. I know when Note 9 was originally launched, the unlocked version didnt have the wifi calling for Verizon.
I know S9/S9+ were the same but with an update back in August, wifi calling on unlocked version became available. Has the same update came out for Note 9 yet?
I have the Verizon 8/512 version.
There really is not much bloat, like in the past.
4 apps that I wouldn't use, with only the Verizon Voicemail app that cannot be disabled.

Unfortunately Note 9 unlocked/unbranded firmware still does not have Wi-Fi Calling when using Verizon. This is true even on the latest Pie beta. It's something I am actively tracking. For the tech folks in the room, it's turned off in customer.xml.

Yes. My Note 9 is Verizon branded.
If you are looking for Verizon Oreo, I believe it is in this OP. I believe the patched version of odin must be used.
