I was wondering if anyone has spotted a extended battery for the magic/ion yet? I should be getting my Ion any day and I'd love to have one. I've found no useful results on google.
The device is only a few weeks old, so don't expect to see one for maybe another month or 2.
Actually now that I have had time to play with my Ion; It gets better battery life than what my G1 did with my extended 2600mah Innocell battery. I can't believe the difference. This is what the G1 should have been.
1760mah Extended Magic Battery
His transaction history seems sound and he claims it is 1760mah. I ordered one. I'll let ya know what happens.
Is the size the same that original?

Not sure if from this seller but its 1760mah, its the same physical size as before.
I need a decent battery app that will show all the tech details which I'll post screenshots of, any ideas

The item is coming from Europe. I ordered it at the end of June and I'm still waiting. I'm pretty disappointed in the time this has taken. This completely goes against the feedback left on his account.
I never did receive the battery. I'll be getting my money back. Although Yoobbao is now offering 2600MAH Batteries! I ordered one and should be receiving it shortly.
Look forward to hearing back from you.

The Magic already handles battery life a hell of alot better than the G1 but with so much battery... I don't expect to need to charge it that often.

True that, if I was just making some calls or text messaging i wouldn't need to charge it for at least a couple of days. Some occassions, for example hiking, I tend to leave GPS on all day to record my tracks as well as access some data apps here and there, which I notice the data usage is usually the one to blame that drains the battery fairly quickly. If a bigger battery could rest assure that would be awesome.
The thing with owning a phone like the magic, is that you don't want to stick to just a few calls and texts, when you have so much more at your disposal. Otherwise I would have stuck with my old Nokia and only charged it once every several days.

Exactly, my Sony Ericsson C902 normaly lasts from mon-fri no problem with texting and calling.
With a phone like the magic you do want to make most out of it, and mine normally gives me a full day of continous use. Originally i only used to get half a day as i hammerd it but a few good tweaks make a MASSIVE difference.
- get a brightness widget and just adjust it as required. i have it at 40%.
- get an over clocking app and underclock it when screen is off or having less use. (root needed)
- get a task killer, apps runing in background can drain it too. Well they seem to. (root needed).
Anyway, whats the update on the new battery Gimpeh mate.

It shipped monday with expedited shipping. Keep in mind it is coming from China. I've been using the donation version of Advance Task Manager forever now. Whats the difference between that and Task Killer? I've looked at the description and it appears the same. I wish one of these could be set to auto kill apps that start up. Throughout the day I'll open up task manager only to see that Foobook and a few others are idling again after killing them earlier in the day. Annoyances!
No real difference really, just that task killer has a widget aswell that shows number of apps running and upon clicking it, it kills everything.
I only went over to tasKiller as the advanced task manager app expired.

Damn! Looks like I'll be getting the 3650 now. Anyone want a 2500?
Hi guys,
this is my first post on this board, so i want greet all first.
Looking on the mugen power site, I've realized that with 2600mAh or 3650mAh extended battery you are force to change the battery covery due the size of the battery, and also your phone will become much ticker, it's right?
While I'm pretty happy with the stock Magic battery, looking on the mugen power site i have seen that 1550mAh extended battery doesn't require a cover battery change, so i would be happy to give it a try and mantain the thin shape of the Magic. Anyone can confirm me that the 1550mAh battery doesn't require a cover battery change?
Last question i'm in Italy and i hasn't been able to uderstand where this company is located on both about us and customer service there is some dummy text ,and there are no information on the contact page. The only information that i have is that domain is registred to an'Hungarian man.
So in few word is this site trustable? anyone here has experiece with this battery? They ship from Europe North America or Asia?
Sorry for all this question, but about a month ago the local national tv reported the case of a woman which changed the battery of his phone whith a chinese one, and the phone/battery exploded in her hands.
Thanks all in advance
Found this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/Extended-Batter...Accessories?hash=item3caa886764#ht_1708wt_899 The door looks kinda weird if you ask me
I have the siedio 3500mha battery I wonder if that door would fit it..
I wouldnt get that huge battery/cover for only 400 more mah... There is a thread on here now that is for the touchpro2 battery that will fit our phones. ITs 2000mah and 10 bucks shipped. Cant go wrong brah. and it keeps the stock door. Now I would settle for a bigger door for a 3500mah battery.

I'm running Fresh 1.1 with Gumbo's kernel and SetCPU "ondemand". I've used the phone pretty light/moderate today...Up time is at 12 hours and 36 minutes, Awake time is at 3 hours and 36 minutes, and battery percent is at 30 percent. Seems to be just like my stock battery. I'm a give it a few more days of observation before I make any final judgements. Hope that helps!
hey can ya give me link to that kernal? isnt that for better battery life and faster phone? Whats this setCPU?

Search the forum for Gumbo Kernel....it's probably on the first 3 or 4 pages of the forum. SetCPU is a paid app in the market for root users. You buy it and set it up as stated in the Gumbo Kernel thread. It scales your processor to use only what it needs...this way it saves battery when you're phone's sleeping, because it's sleeping at 160mhz instead of 540mhz or whatever. Then when you wake the phone up the batter scales up to 540mhz. It saves a ton of battery and helps with performance. It's totally worth the 99 cents. Hope that helps!

Let me summarize the whole thread for you: This is all you need to know:
Just download the zip file from the first post of the thread...put it on the root of your SD card....boot into recovery mode (ie: turn off your phone and turn it on holding power and home button at the same time), and click flash zip. Select the Gumbo Kernel Zip and flash it. (If you've never flashed anything before, than you are right, you have some reading to do. If you have...you'll know what I'm talking about).
Once it's done flashing, reboot your phone.
Then download SetCPU from the market. Open it, click menu, select Hero/Tatoo from the list of devices...then adjust the sliders to Max 540mhz, Min 160mhz. Then check the little box that says Set At Boot.
There you go...all done! you should have great battery life now! Like, WAY better than stock!
God bless!

I've had my Bionic for the past 3 weeks now but I actually haven't used it since I didn't have a method for root access yet. Now that I realize how simple it was and did it (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17251186&postcount=19), I'll be actually using the device as my daily.
I realize that it's super late and close to release date anyway but is there anything the XDA community would like to know about the device? I'll be happy to give my opinions. I'm coming from a Thunderbolt if that makes any difference and am a rather die-hard HTC fan but I will try to be objective with the Bionic.
Edit: I also have a plethora of accessories (extended batteries, HD docking station, car dock, etc.) and will have the Webtop in a few days time if you'd like to know about them, too.
Don't know why no one believed me
I too used the same root method but no one believed me because i didn't have a picture of the phone, so i just pulled one of the net lol. Have to say that I am completely satisfied with it, much better than my DX
I just got word from my friend who runs a store, my Bionic will be ready for me on release day. Been running a Droid 2 since it was about 3 months old and it's done me well (since getting off blur and going to GB CM7, or even when it was Froyo). I am beside myself with anticipation right now.
i too am waiting for the release of the bionic,i m coming from the DROID x2 which is also a good phone. so whats the verdict on the Bionic? inquiring minds wanna know.

Do any of the tethering apps work?
Questions I have:
1. Is pentile as bad as the Atrix? That thing was blocky...
2. Can the phone actually draw the color yellow? Atrix could NOT. It was always a gold or brown color.
3. Hows the battery life? Realistically speaking can it last the whole day with average use?
4. Does the bulk around the camera hamper the feel of the phone?
5. Wireless tether app work?
Really really trying to get rid of this thunderbolt...

1. Yes, it is just as bad in my opinion. Coming from strictly HTC phones (although my brother does have an Atrix) it was unbearable at first. Given some more time though, I've gotten used to it. The notification bar and battery icon are especially noticeable.
2. Yellows seem acceptable to me.
3. Battery life has been fine, even with fair usage I can get through a 12 hour day easily.
4. I actually find the bulk to work out well. Your finger can rest underneath it, and the phone is surprisingly light (especially compared to my Thunderbolt; it weighs way less with the normal battery and is no heaver than the TB with an extended battery in) so it holds well in the hand.
5. Neither Wireless Tether or Barnacle worked when I tried them.

Given a small amount of time it will be possible. The problem is truly VZ cracking down on people tethering with unlimited data, putting them on a tiered plan and charging them the extra 20 or 30 or whatever a month for the tethering service (which is bull****!).

I imagine there'll be a workaround once more devs get a hand on the device. The Thunderbolt (and I imagine other Verizon devices) have the same issue and a modified app was available to tether with. That's honestly one of the few things I miss going from the TB to Bionic. All in due time, I'm sure.

Yes. Again I can't imagine it's not already in the works from the few devs that might have gotten their hands on one early. If not, I'd give it a couple weeks.

Time without a signal is at 0%. If it hit 20% or more, it'll affect your battery life negatively. I imagine when you took this screenshot, you probably only had 1-2 hours of screen time? Cell standby will be higher because, well, it was standing by.

Actually I had this too. I changed my APN to "phone" instead of "nxtgenphone" along with the other values associated with traditional ATT LTE under "phone". Fixed it right up, get fantastic battery now.
I'd seen this as well, getting high usage by "Cell Standby" even though my time without a signal is usually 0-1%. I'm on the Pure Edition version with T-Mobile though.
Second straight day that cell standby is using as much battery as screen. That's with currently 1.5 hours screen time.

Same here. Off charger for 20 hours at 11% with 2 hours screen time, and cell standby has had good signal all day, but shows as the same percentage as screen (17% each). Cell standby seems to eat way more battery than it did on my HTC One M8. Not sure why, but would love to have a fix because battery is barely acceptable on this phone - typically with any meaningful usage I am struggling to get through the day.
Same thing is happening to me, pure edition on AT&T

Can you give more details about what you changed about your APNs? Did you revert to an older version or just an alternate version? Any more info would be helpful. I don't know what "phone" vs "nxtgenphone" mean since I've never had an AT&T device, but I am familiar with USCC APNs.

I hardly think 16% is high. Mine is usually higher than that and I still get over a days worth of battery. Something has to be using the battery, even when you arent using the phone.

It is high. Check against any other device with similar usage patterns and you'll see standby around 5%-10%. The radios are definitely using more power in this device than others.

Yes it's a radio on standby that uses 20% if the battery. Yes I realize that number is relative. But if at the end of the day my battery is completely dead and cell standby use 20% then that's 20% . Maybe you are okay with you phone wasting you battery, but I get a little aggravated. Cell standby was a battery drain in some of the early android phones and it was an actual bug.
I read somewhere that the pure edition will get an update to enable a few more LTE bands, could this possibly help with the cell stand by?

Could they do something else at the same time to improve it? Possibly. But adding LTE bands by itself wouldn't make the radios use less power.

Look how much current it's drawing with screen just on.
This phone stinks
I took the train today so I didn't use maps. I'll be driving tomorrow so I'll get a chance to see what using maps will do to my temps. This thing is liquid cooled so this shouldn't be getting hot like that unless they have the warning threshold set to low.
I have a screen issue that's not aligned correctly and now this thing is getting hot. It's going back. I don't know wether to buy a new one or go through RMA hell. Had to do that with my 6T and OnePlus is giving a bad taste in my mouth.
This is abnormal, meaning this isn't the case with every device. I haven't had a single heating issue - it could also be cause by a 3rd party app. You'll have to do a root cause through process of elimination to determine if it's the actual device.

For those getting 40C+ temps with light usage, does it feel warm?

I saw your post about the asymmetry of the bezels. Not surprised that you are the only person with these issues. RMA would be my suggestion, but just return if you want/need a faster solution.

There RMA is the worst. I have the 12gb version so it's on back order.

Could be one of your apps causing it. If you're rooted you could run top in a terminal and see what's going on. Did you recently transfer a ton of media to it, possibly it could be the media scanner. But I would definitely figure out what's going on because those temps aren't normal and will affect your battery health long term.
I haven't had mine get hot yet.
Temps on mine. My Pixel 2 XL got much warmer.
Sounds like yours is just hot blooded. Bummer.

Not rooted. Did not transfer anything. Already boxed it up and ready to ship back. Back to my 6T. I don't have any luck with OnePlus.

For those who can purchase outright, this is probably the only benefit of getting from T-Mobile.
But...you have the 12GB version. Not an option for you, I guess.

Taxes too are a benefit when buying online.

I know. But how much is peace of mind worth? At least you have a face to hold responsible (figuratively and literally...although, I don't suggest the literal).
