and how about if you don't have a samsung device? I'd like to try to mess around with it a bit, try to get it working with a non-samsung machine

Interesting. I installed the app on my HTC one running omj rom. And everything works except for svoice. Just turn off the hardware keyboad function so you can text. Awesome

Installed the app on HTC One with official 4.2.2 and tried to connect to the Gear. There seems to be a control mechanism that kills the connection. It says on screen for a second that it was connected, but then a message pops up stating smth like "validation check failed".
Can someone who has access to both devices give it a try?

I think you must have Android 4.3 to support Bluetooth 4.0 profile.

I have the Note 3 but have not got the gear yet.
I downloaded the gear manager app but cannot open it.
When I try to open it, it tries to connect to the watch but all I get is message "device not found".
How did you guys manage to open the Gear Manager app?

So with 4.1.2 omj ROM you CAN conect the Gear with the HTC One, whereas with the official 4.2.2 you cannot.
Have you tried to install the s-voice app (from GS3 i think should be the one that works) and see if the watch can do s-voice?

I tried pairing the watch with a Nexus 7 tablet running AOKP JB_MR1 4.2.1 and no-go. I tried a Galaxy Nexus running CM 10.1.0-RC2 4.2.2 also a no-go. Both devices prompt an error message that says device not supported.

The link cannot download the file already. Anyone can post a new link for it?

This application required Samsung libraries to be present.
All gear apps that work for phones other than Note 3, will work even without gear manager installed. All you need just initiate your gear with Samsung phone, that pair with phone you want to use it with. But all you can do without note 3 is just calling functions, pedometer ( not phone related ant all), etc. Notifications won't work, you won't be able to install any additional apps....

The recent update of Gear Manager is now causing a application startup error on the Galaxy S4, not sure if anyone else is experiencing the same issue on other phones tho !
Im running 4.3, XXUEMJ5.

What rom are you running ? What firmware ? Are you rooted also ? i9505 or i9500 ?

Very interesting, seems like Samsung have implemented more checks !
Im running a debloated i9505 rooted rom.. I want to try isolate what exactly the new gear manager requires.
Could you please post a screenshot/type the information you see on your about screen, you can get there by going into "Settings -> More -> About device".
What I'm interested in is the "Build number" line.
If you could also be kind enough to go into "Settings -> More -> Application manager", find "Gear Manager" in the "Downloaded" section, open it up and post the version number located at the very top of that screen.
I do appreciate you taking the time helping me out here.
EDIT: I got impatient and decided to download a bloat filled rom, gear manager successfully installed.. Samsung now are checking for certain APK's to exist in order for gear manager to install/operate.
Im going to attempt to isolate which APK's exactly and make a CWM.
EDIT 2: I believe I have isolated the needed APK, it seems "GearManagerStub.apk" is needed ! Seems quite obvious when I think about it.. LOL.

I had seen this in my system/apps and assumed that it was installed by gear manager. Looking a the make up of gearmanager apk and files in rom, it doesn't come with the apk, but does with the rom

After the update I had "connection error", I simply restore the gear and everything is working.

I notice issue after last update to P7-L10V100R001C00B121SP01, my navigation buttons overlap on bottom app line(screenshot).
Did someone experience this issue or know how to fix it?
Hard reset doesn't help.

[Solved] Second Factory Reset, this time from Settings menu, solved the problem.
[Solution] It was "Commandr for Google" accessibility option that cause this!

Try Using IOS 7 Theme From Here
Apply Theme and Reboot ..... If it DOesn't WOrk i will upload Launcher and Odex File :laugh:

Guys the problem shows when you enable a program or even a wearable in the Accessibility menu. It's a bug that show only with the stock launcher, to avoid it just use a different launcher from Play Store (like Nova or Apex or whatever...)

Why so quick to update? Is the system that unstable on the s5?
Risk your root for a little security fix and stability. I think not. Why not just ask a dev if they can get you current rom stable with a update made by someone not trying to screw you around...... ATT.......

A guy in the comments, on the Android Central post about this update, said that he took the OTA and it did not break root.
I'm still kind of scared to do it though.

That's what everyone should do.

I tried to update...and it failed after rebooting. Not sure if it is because of root. I have nothing else customized... I think.

I am aware that G900F NF/NG firmware enables VoLTE in S5. Not sure if the NG firmware for G900A does that also.

I think it will too. It's just that this guy claims that he updated while being rooted and still has root after the update. Maybe he's trying to pull a fast one on us.
I'm running Dynamic Kat anyway, so there is no way I'm taking a chance at not being able to flash safe strap again.

I did some cleaning after and the cache got wiped.. sorry

My wife's S5 successfully took the update but the kernel version is Jul 22nd, so this will most likely break root or at the very least break towelroot...

Go to Play Store and download the app "App Backup And Restore" and install it. Open the aplication and click on the three dots that has at the top of the screen, go to settings, and check the box "Show system apps", go back and select all the application an press backup, wait until its done. The apps will be on internal storage in a folder named "Mobi_Usage_AppBackup", compress all of them into a Zip file, and share it here

No! No need. I've tried these apps on my v40 and apart from some system apps, all other apps work just fine including new settings app

I compared the apks from the Velvet and the V60 and these are the ones that are different in version numbers. All are newer on the Velvet. That Dual screen launcher on the velvet doesn't show up on the V60, which why I left it blank, but most likely it is the Dual SCreen Home apk with version number 9.20.20.

After trying to install the new LG keyboard, the app crashes.
Logcat related errors reference an app starting with com.lge.lgdynamicactionbar.
I could not find that app in your zip. Could you check if you have it and upload it here?

You should be able to go to app info, click 3 dots and select uninstall updates, it should revert to system apk from the phone.

Just curious, will the velvet's accent color apk (whichever it is) work on the lg v60? I would assume so but I'm a bit lost with this.
Which apk (out of that huge list) should be installed for accent colors? Hopefully there is some hope for me lol.
