It would be awesome if someone can port the g5s plus night mode to the g5 plus.
Impossible.. wait for oreo
Sad.....I thought since even the e4 plus has it....it would be easy enough to get it on the g5 plus ;_;
Just use this:
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.prospectu1.nougatnightmodeenabler
Turning on battery saver will also further reduce the minimum brightness.

I don't know what's up with your device then because I'm on the January patch too and it's working fine. Another app you could try is called Twilight. It works differently by using a screen overlay though.

For anyone facing the problem that your screen doesn't change: Try playing with the switchers, you'll need the bright and tint one's enabled but sometimes it doesn't work, so you need to force them by turning on and off all switchers
CF Lumen doesn't work for you?
If it's the WHITE of everything - substratum and the Swift Dark theme works well. Best $3 or so I've ever spent.
I installed oreo 8.1 official update by Motorola yesterday on moto g5 plus via OTA but now there is no night light or night display option. Not even in moto display. Is there a way to enable it. In moto g5s plus it present under Moto Display as "Night Display". Is a port possible.. ?

I don't know about a port, but currently there is no way to enable it on the 8.1 stock rom.
Same issue with 8.1 stock.
How to enable night light?
I am also looking for way to enable night mode on Moto G5 Plus Android 8.1

I read about the issue of Stamina Mode blocking the usage of the LED. I like the LED, it's the best thing for notifications. But without Stamina Mode, I'm getting poor battery life. Is there any way to bypass this? perhaps a third party application or mod? I'm rooted and on an unlocked bootloader so I'd have no problem messing with it to get this working.
Thanks!

Light Flow with root and alternative mode works with Stamina Mode, but you only get 3 LED colors unfortunately
Thanks! But it didn't work, what did you mean by alternative mode?

It's in the settings of the app. 2nd or Third option from the top.
Tried it but it's very crippled. Only 3 LEDs and you can't control the blink speed. And the LED itself is very dim. Extremely hard to see it and I tried all 3 different colours.

Yeah, just figured it out, and it doesn't blink at all for me it just stays continuously on and it's very dim like you said. Well, this sucks..... I don't understand the idea behind disabling the LED in stamina mode. It's just a tiny LED, how much power can it consume?!?

The low battery light still works, so it will change with the next proper update most likely
Do anyone know how to access this menu? I'm sick of screen dimming every 5 mins because they phone thinks it's overheating.
That feature works so well on both G2 and G3 unfortunately it's not accessible on the G4 ?

Go swap it my T-Mobile G4 never dims when I'm at 100% screen brightness, my phone has never hit 50°c which is extremely good considering I've had the g3 which would always be above 60°c

Man that sucks.
Don't know if the problem I have relates to this issue. I bought the phone today and for some reason I'm having brightness issues where I have it at 50%, it randomly dims and brightens. I tested at 100% and it would also randomly dim and brighten.
I'm afraid to exchange it and the problem would still occur in a new exchange.
This feature is turned off by default on the T-Mobile version. If you have root, you can change it using trickstermod.

I'm assuming its the option under "specific" on the left side drop menu.
It lists: "Temperature Throttle"
SOC Temperature limit toggle
and it's set to off.
Did this work for you? The screen dimming is getting irritating
You guys having this problem may want to look in to getting your units replaced. I drove for 3 hours a few weekends ago using navigation, screen brightness 100%, using bluetooth to stream audio while charging it, and it was on top of my dashboard in the hot South Florida direct sun light. Screen never dimmed at all.
Have you guys tried unticking the auto brightness settings?mine never dims while unticked but i usually leave it on because it saves a lot of battery

I believe it actually works. But it is a charging/battery LED. Charging when the phone is off perhaps. Low battery maybe. I don't recall under what situations it actually works, and maybe I am mistaking it for one of the Moto X devices but I am pretty sure there are situations where it works.
Regardless though, it is there, it just isn't a notification LED by default.
Root your nexus and install light flow.
Dears,
I'm a new owner of a brand new x2 pro, everything's fine so far, but there's just a thing that hassles me and it's the missing notification LED.
I'd like to use one of these workaround apps designed for super Amoled screen but so far, can't find any properly working on my x2 pro.
Tried with AOE (always on edge) but it seems to work randomically... All I need is an app which, in case of screen turned off and with an incoming notification (e.g., a WhatsApp message), automatically switches on a notification effect on screen which should continue blinking until I read the notification itself.
Basically, something that recalls the good old rgb led on phones of some years ago... Is there anything which you tested on Realme phones and it's 100% working?
Thanks a lot
Try this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xander.android.notifybuddy
Yeah, notifyBuddy did the job
I'd love to have a bit more chance on the notification type (only pulsing spot is available here) but hey, it's from a developer from XDA devs
Edit : nevermind, it doesn't work in a stable way. Most of the times notifications are ignored.
anyone knows if this working https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.used.aoe

NotifyBuddy works perfectly fine on mine!
You will have to exclude it from power saving.
On my X2Pro, notifyBuddy works 1 time out of 4 notification, approximately. I guess it's due to the lockscreen as I disabled any battery optimization for the app.
On the other side, AoE works even worse... Still waiting for a solution for notifications.
I bought Mi 11 ultra yesterday and I found that in-camera app when I enable the auto-flash option and take photos in dark/night scenarios, flash doesn't work at all, even if it's complete black or pitch black, and works normally when it's enabled. I'm not sure whether it's a hardware issue (I hope not) but I started to feel a little concerned about this issue.

LOL, this thread and responses are a joke. Before starting a thread about help for some app, you should at least first check settings of that app for a solution. Just go to camera settings and disable "Enhance image quality". It says in description that in low light conditions it will turn on night mode if that option is enabled and that is what you do not want, you want normal capture with flash light. Yes, you can argue that this design is not logical, but that is MIUI for you. Still, no excuse for not checking settings.

Firstly, you can be a little more respectful when you're actually trying to help someone and not joke about it because it can happen to anyone.
Secondly, normal capture with auto-flash still doesn't work even after disabling the "enhance image quality" option in camera settings. I don't know if it doesn't work the way it should then IDK why that option is still there in the camera.

When it is easy solution, jokes are with justification.
And normal capture with auto flash works when you disable "enhance image quality". Just tested it myself. Flash turns on in low light scenes only. Try to cover your camera with hand to make it pitch black. It should display yellow flash icon that tells you that it will turn on flash when capturing that scene.

in the worst case scenario, backup everything and do a factory reset. then you can be sure which is the issue to your camera.
I have noticed one thing, when I switch to 5x then auto flash works and it also works in dual camera mode but doesn't work in 1x or normal capture mode.
