Media Provider (Manual Scan via ADB) - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Curiously the dev tool option on Lineage 15.1 ends in a force stop once "scan SD card" is triggered. I was inquiring to see if there was a manual way to do this via adb commands. I use this method to move media over to my devices all of the time and normally the dev tool works.

In the past I've found that rebooting triggers a media scan, if that's of any use.

That's always my fallback, but I've noticed it's not as instantaneous as the trigger under dev tools.

Remote Locate doesn't work

After a few initial tests, where it worked, I cannot get the remote location tool (https://myxperia.sonymobile.com/) to work anymore. It'll load and load and eventually tell me it will send me an email once it can reach the phone. This is independent of whether the phone is awake or not, and also stamina mode on/off doesn't matter.
Under the official Google tool (Android Device Manager) I can see the phone, but it also doesn't work. I allowed all the security restrictions on the phone.
Does this work for anyone, or someone maybe knows a way to 'fix' it (at least on the Sony site, it used to work in the beginning)
Do u have your gps, google location turned on? Can it be locked by remote? I tried it and it works for me.

side loaded apps

In the past I have uses adb to side load apps successfully. Now after I hit the return button after the apk name, the computer just sits there. No installation. I had rebooted the watch and the computer. No luck. I am on stock.
Any ideas?
I know it's a stupid question, but do you have USB debugging enabled?

Yes. All the steps went fine. Cd
Downloads, fastboot. adb devices adb. Install
It just stood with a blinking curser
It worked fine before. Now it just stops. Tried several apk
Sorry, cannot help with that issue, but Wondershare works very well for me. So good that i paid for the program to use long term to sideload. Has some other good features too, such as export, so I can download something on the Note 3, export it, then install on the Gear, all in a very short time period. Easy to use too.

[Q] Connection to PC Problems/Retrieving Deleted Files

First of all, my HTC One is not rooted. My PC has Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 64-bit.
Here is how my problem started (the phone not being seen problem may have existed prior to this). I connected my phone to my computer (a sound played during connection). Autostart opened Windows Explorer showing the phone storage. I double clicked to find the folder where my videos were. I right clicked the video I wanted to transfer to my PC, chose 'cut', right clicked the desktop and chose 'paste'. The video disappeared from the folder on the phone, but was not on the desktop. I refreshed the desktop, but the file still did not appear.
I restarted both the PC and the phone. Tried reconnecting and started getting notifications in the taskbar 'installing drivers', as if the phone's driver's had been uninstalled. The driver installation failed. I tried a Windows update and found updates available, but the installation failed (code 800F020B). I ran System File Checker and repeated the above, but the update failed. Strangely though, if I opened Explorer, the phone showed up (however on some occasions it didn't).
I therefore installed 'Undelete 360'. Tried to access the phone to retrieve files, but the program couldn't see the phone (even though I could access files via explorer). I thought it may be the software, so I tried 'Remo Recover', but the same happened again.
I have also tried uninstalling drivers (unknown device in Device Manager) and restarting, but to no avail.
I have the latest version of HTC Sync Manager installed, but this program seems to be of no use.
The phone is in USB debugging mode and when attached to the PC is showing 'MTP Enabled' (I can't find anyway to change this). Android version 4.3. The only other noticeable problem on the phone is that HTC Sync, which was supposed to be in sync with Gmail, is hsowing 'Sync Off' and I can't switch it back on.
I would appreciate any assistance in resolving this. My objective is to retrieve the video files I tried to 'cut' and 'paste'.
You probably can't get the file back, sorry. The device connects with MTP which does not support the required low-level operations. I highly doubt an app from the Play store would work, but its your best bet.
In future you'd be better off copying and then deleting.

Thanks for your reply Ben. That's bad news.
So the fact that it only connects with MTP means that the device may not be visible in certain circumstances and I'll have to live with that. This doesn't explain why from time to time when I connect the phone, my PC starts to install drivers and sometimes the instillation fails. There seems to be something else afoot.

Panasonic Image App and Oxygen OS 4.0

Hi All,
After I updated my 1+3T to Oxygen OS 4.0. The App stop connecting to my Lumix GX85 camera. Panasonic says their app is compatible with Android N.
Anyone know what is going here?
I reinstalled the Image App from Play Store, tried connect using wifi and QR code. Still not connecting. Is there any wifi setting on the phone that I don't know. Please let me know if you have the same problem and solution.
Thanks

Same problem over here. Anyone know what is going on?
Also have OS 4.0.2 and had the same issue - unable to use with QR code.
I've instead was able to connect via Wi-Fi Direct by going into OP3T Wi-Fi Direct option, changing my G7 connection method to Wi-Fi Direct and selecting my phone. Afterwards, the OP3T asked if I wanted to allow the camera to connect.
This is the only way I was able to connect. Previously, I enabled developer mode and enabled legacy DHCP client which is no longer available.

Just spoke to Oneplus support. They advised that the issue is on their side and asked to be patient as this should be resolved in one of the next updates.
Oxygen OS 4.0.3 doesn't fix this problem.

I have similar issue on 3T, it can never able to make connection with Leica Imagine Shuttle app.
With the nougat open beta 3 released today my OnePlus 3t finally connects to my Panasonic gx80 without a hitch.

Still problem also with new update
I just update the OP3T with O4.1. Now the smartphone freezes after read the QR code. New firmware, new problem, same results... :crying: :crying: :crying:
Turn on airplane mode. Turn wifi back on. Connect to camera. After a few failures you'll get a prompt that the WiFi access point doesn't have Internet access. Check the box to stay connected.

File transfer does not work (keeps falling back to "USB for charging" always)

File transfer does not work (keeps falling back to "USB for charging" always)
Hi,
as the title suggests for a very long time (>1 month) my file transfer does not work.
The only way I can transfer files from PC to the phone is reboot into recovery (TWRP) and there it works normally, but it's a pain in the a...rm.
I've also tried different ROMs with the same effect, although I remember it did work very briefly for one boot cycle before I finished setting everything up and now it doesn't work again.
My suspicion is that some hidden setting that I'm not aware of is in conflict with the file transfer feature. Or maybe Xiaomi doesn't like it when you deny Mi Cloud permissions etc. and that's the way they get back at you, IDK!
Nobody else experiences this? Cause I didn't find too many complaints about this in the forum.
Happy new year and a very good and successful start into 2020, everyone.
If you not sure what cause the problem, just switch to another rom or do a hard reset.

First, do you have the correct drivers installed on your PC to identify your device?
Second, you can always turn on USB Debugging and see if that allows you to use FTP.
Third, if you have turned on USB Debugging, you can use adb push.
If I wanted to transfer Roblox to my phone, I would do this
adb push C:\Users\SenseiCheekClapper\Downloads\Roblox.apk /sdcard
To make it a hell of a lot easier, just type adb push, drag the file into the terminal and it will autofill the file location, and then type /sdcard.

When I have had this problem it has always turned out to be the USB-cable that was the culprit. This phone is very picky when it comes to cable, both for file transfer and Android Auto, at least for me! The original cable doesn't always work all the time for me, but a good quality cable of another brand always works for me.
