No Notifications - Android Auto General

Hi,
since one month i have a Xiaomi Redmi 4X with Android 7.1.2
My headunit is a Kenwood DDX9716BTS.
In general AA works fine. I'm just getting no notifications, for example from WhatsApp.
Also i get in the "Home Screen" (the Button in the middle) no info when i'm navigating.
I gave all apps the authorization's they wanted.
My old mobile was a Vernee Thor with Android 6, and it worked with the notifcations.
Is this a well know problem, or has it something to do with my setup?

Android Auto Waze problem since Pie

Hi everyone,
This week end I updated my P20 pro to Pie. Since then Waze in android Auto doesn't work. When I input any routes it always get stuck on: "Proceed to highlighted route". Google maps works fine but I prefer Waze.
Waze on the phone itself works flawlessly. Only appends on Android Auto. It was working fine before. I also had this problem with my old phone: "ZTE Axon 7".
My car is a Honda Civic SI 2017 if it matters.
Anything I can try to fix this?
Thx
Turn off automatic power management for AndroidAuto, Waze (and anything else you want not to be stopped constantly) Settings -> Battery -> App launch.
Also, go over the app (AndroidAuto, Waze) permissions and make sure everything is in place Settings -> Apps -> Apps.
P.S. If it doesn't help you can try clearing the phones cache or reinstalling the apps.
Thx for your suggestion.
I turned off the automatic power management.
The permission seems to be ok. Android auto has permission to everything and waze to "location".
I will try it after work if it makes any difference. If it still doen't work i'll try to reinstall. But I did that in the past with the Axon 7 to no avail.
thx

Android Auto voice Command issue on Tablet

Hello all, I am coming here because my limited Android knowledge and Google search has failed me. I am trying to make a voice activated Google Maps GPS for my father to use while trucking. He specifically asked for Google Maps because he uses it on his phone and knows the voice commands, but the phone screen is too small and a new law that just went into effect in my state makes it illegal for him to have anything in his hands. For a trucker, that violation could cause him to lose his CDL. SO I am trying to help him out with this.
NOTE: there is no Truck/headunit interface in this deal; simply the tablet acting as the Android Auto command point. The device has wireless data connection.
The hardware:
Galaxy Tab A 2016 7" 32-bit architecture
SM-T280
Lollipop 5.1.1
Kernel version 3.10.65-12484970
Google version - 10.92.10.21.arm
Google play services - 19.8.31
Google play store - 18.3.24-all [0] [PR] 288734092
Android Auto version - 4.9.594933-release (Sideloaded)
With that setup, Android Auto works, is stable. However, it is unable to do any voice commands. For example, if I say 'OK Google, open maps' it simply responds that is does not know how to help with that command yet. On My galaxy Note 8, this exact command works fine. I am wondering what service or item I need to sideload to force these commands to work. I am not averse to Rooting and ROM'ing if it is absolutely stable and as close to OEM as possible. I am trying to make this tablet GPS setup as seamless for him as possible, I will be using an app task launcher for when the device wakes up or boots, it will automatically launch into Android Auto for him.
Please, any advice or options would help. I was thinking to try and sideload/force everything to match my phone, but the tablet is 32 bit, and the phone is 64 bit so almost nothing can be matched due to architecture.
Interesting. My Tab S4 will not let me run Android Auto (tells me device is not compatible), but I was trying to AA into my Subaru head unit. My impression is tablets, or at least Samsung tablets, are not well supported in AA, either through intention or neglect. That said, does he really need AA? Can the tablet be set to never screen off if plugged in and he just run google maps straight-up on the tablet, using voice?

That's another idea I am going to try now. I think I can have Google Assistant and Maps launch at boot, and then google assistant might allow him to use voice commands such as 'navigate to xyz address' or so I am reading on Google Website. I am also experimenting with tethering widgets to make turning the data connection on and off easy for him when he pops in the truck. Plus downloading offline maps to the device as well, but I am wondering if there is voice navigation when offline.
I have exactly the same problem. I use a Lenovo Tab A7-10F with Android 5.0.
I installed the latest Google App, Google TTS and Maps (all 3 requirements for starting AA). AA v.4.5.592853 is working fine, but the assistant function in it not. It always answers "I don't know how to help with... navigate to New York" or similar. The same problem happens when using Maps directly.
Whereas when opening the Google App and ask something there works fine. F.e. I can start maps navigation with "Navigate to New York" or set an alert or similar.

Hey CJ, I haven't tested this in the hands of my father yet, but the solution I have been testing in my own car is I have Google Assistant and Maps launch at startup/unlock. Then, I have the google assistant voice matched so that it recognizes my voice and can be used at any time while the tablet is on. I then say 'OK google; Navigate to XYZ address' and it will open maps, set the navigation and begin in right away. This seems like the best solution I've come to in order to get around the stupid limitation on the AA voice command not working. I also downloaded the offline maps so that navigation will work even with weak cellular data signal.
So far that setup has been working. I had it tethered via Wifi Hotspot. I plan on finding a widget that will work for turning his wifi on and off so he doesn't have to navigate through Settings or worry about sliding down on his small screen when he is driving truck to activate. I have Android Pie on my phone and it seems like all the widgets for this stopped working after 8.0, so I can't test the viability of this tethering widget until I get his phone in front of me.
One thing to note; depending on the performance of your tablet, the autolaunch of Maps and Google Assistant on startup can be slow and cause errors. In one case I started using Google Assistant too fast and it just said 'something went wrong' and closed out. I rebooted and waited an extra minute and then it worked fine. This is on a Galaxy Tab A (2016) which is some very basic hardware compared to many other tablets.
I'll reply to this once I get this in my tech-challenged fathers hands and see how it works out for him.
Hi XTwarrior! Thanks for your answer.
Ok, I will probability also go this way and just use Maps with voice commands without AA.
Unfortunately I can't install Assistant on my tablet (Tab 2 A7-10F) due to Android 5.0 limitation, but the Google App works. With Google and Maps I still can use voice commands like " Ok google navigate to XYZ" and maps opens with navigation. But what is (mostly) not working is to further ask details during navigation such as:
when do I arrive?
Help
Exit Navigation
etc. They all are answered with "not sure how to help with [command repeated]..."
But strangely that works
How's traffic ahead?
Here is another nice trick described in this video : you could modify your Tablet such that it boots automatically when a charger is connected (i.e. starting the car) and shut down automatically after 20 sec of no charging connection (with a task of AutomateIt).

Rooted Android 9, what is your working setup?

Guys, I've a rooted Moto Z2 force, I'm plannig to use it as an android auto device only. AA is not available in the play store, but I can sidelode any version (I've downloaded the 7.2.62).
I'm tried a couple of tools, AA Tweaker, AA installer, etc, but so far only the cartube application is showing in the car screen (but e.g. fermata auto is not)
I'm planning to use the some official AA applications
- spotify, gmaps, waze, abetterrouteplanner
and would like to have
-youtube, netflix and maybe carscanner on the car screen (in motion as well for the passengers)
Please share you working setup, which tools and which versions (including android auto) are you using with android 9 - or point me to a thread where it is already discussed
Hi.
I have a non root samsung note 9(android 9) with wireless AA set up to aftermarket smart module connected to OEM headunit in my peugeot. Uninstalled AA. Installed screen2auto with AA Ease. Downloaded and installed AA 6.6xxxx version. Activated developer options and selected download from unknown sources. Playstore forced update on my phone to latest version 7.1xxxx but kept original settings and third party apps. Enabled wireless projections on settings and this works quite well provided bluetooth pairing. So can use voice control to for maps, music apps and receive and send messages.

Thank you very much, the android version was the problem I've installed AA version 6.9.613744 (instead of the latest 7.*) and everything started working instantly.
Sorry to bring this topic up again, the solution works for me for a few days, than AA is not showing the extra apps anymore. If I uninstall and install android auto again, it works again for a few days. I have no idea why, is there a blacklist AA downloads?

My samsung note 9 is non root. I installed as described above and still have apps on galaxy note 8(android 9) and note 9 ( recently updated to android 10). You can try clearing cache of AA. But you should read through screen2auto rooted thread as you will probably find solution and/or somebody will offer good solution.

Yes, Google blocked again all 3rd party apps with Android Auto 7.1.
With 7.1 I have the 3rd party apps for about 2 minutes. If I don't start Android Auto in this time, I have to clear data and cache of Google Play Services and Android Auto and do all the setup again. That means I have to do this before every car ride.

Screen2auto 3.6.3 Xiaomi Note 8 pro black screen

Hi there, i have installed the screen2auto through the AAAD app, i did the right settings (i think so) and gave the permissions on Xiaomi Note 8 Pro (no root) but when i run the screen2auto 3.6.3 via Android auto i cannot see anything. If for example choose the instagram app or gmail app i can see only a black screen. Is there something i can do to resolve that issue? Or a good tutorial to watch and setup the right settings step by step?
Best regards.

Hi.
I have non rooted Samsung note 9 and using s2a 3.6.2 /wireless Android Auto connection in my car. I have been using it for the last 5 months and it works very well and the s2a app has not dropped off my AA apps. I started by uninstalling AA and installing older version of AA 6.6.xxx . Playstore forced update to newer version of AA. Under settings menu tap the 'Version' 10 times to enter developer settings. Under these setting select(tick) 'download from unknown sources', 'developer mode' and 'wireless projection'.
I know there is a newer version of S2A but I am using 3.6.2 version and will not upgrade because 3.6.3 may not work on my phone. Download S2A 3.6.2 and AA Ease page 94 of this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...rroring-only-for-root-devices.4062787/page-94.
Install S2A with AA Ease and this should install in Android Auto and S2A should show in app list or as one of apps under AA Version.
This has worked for me and not had to reinstall it on a non rooted samsung note 9. I can watch youtube, bbc iplayer but only get sound on netflix because of DRM protection. Also try AAAD because I paid for pro version and Carstream and Fermata Auto work on my phone/car head unit.

Android Auto updated to 7.8.622514-release --> "Google" app now available on Android Auto

Hello,
Today I was unfortunately forced to update Android Auto to 7.8.622514-release. My Android Auto was running really stable with 7.5 (and I had really bad experience with 7.1 and 7.3 --> therefore I'm absolutely no fan of this forced updates).
I checked the functionality with a second phone with the app "Headunit Reloaded".
I noticed that I have a now the "Google" app available in Android Auto.
But it seems to me that the app has no function at all. I just have the message "no new messages during your drive".
Moreover it also does not appear in the launcher settings on my phone. Therefore I can't even deactivate the Google app.
Does anyone else have this? Does anyone know what kind of function the app should have?
I really do not think that I need this app. I prefer to have a clean Android Auto. Is there any other way to deactivate this app from Android Auto?
Thanks a lot.
Update: I also noticed that the Google Assistant shortcuts vanished and can't get brought back...Where are my Google Assistant shortcuts now?
Update 2: now after using Android Auto today for some drives in my car, everything is normal again. The Google app was gone after the 2nd drive and I could add my Assistant shortcuts again after the 3rd drive. I'm really curious why this happened...
I just hate these forced updates.
