GPS won't lock on!! (FRF91)

after updating to froyo using the official OTA EPE54B - > FRF85B - > FRF91 my GPS will no longer lock on in the Google Maps application.. its pretty frustrating has anyone else experienced this and/or found a solution? I feel if it was a widespread issue their would be a big post about this already but I wasn't able to find much when searching the forums any help or advice would be most appreciated!
I have the same problem. I made a thread before but no one responded. Here's what I posted before:
Whenever I use the navigation feature in Maps, it gets stuck on "Searching for GPS." I've left it like that overnight and nothing happened. The entire time, the GPS icon in the notification bar is blinking. I've downloaded the GPS Status app and it can't seem to be able to find my location either.
I've tried wiping everything, installing different roms, reinstalling the radio but nothing seems to be able to fix the problem. Navigation worked fine before. This problem just popped up out of nowhere. I've tried it when I'm outside, in different cities, but that hasn't helped.

I also went back to 2.1-update1 to use the older version of Maps but that still didn't help. I've tried searching for others with the same problem but no one seems to have found a solution yet. I don't think it's a hardware problem though since people with different phones have reported the same problem.
I actually had the same problem with my previous phone which was the milestone (aka Droid) and the problem just randomly resolved itself.. so for sure I agree it can't be a hardware bug just wondering where the problem could be coming from then since by your findings it doesn't seem to be OS specific since your able to reproduce it on 2.1 as well.. and your also saying a factory reset doesn't fix the problem, so that rules out 3rd party apps.. I read on some other forums that some ppl had similar problems with the G1 and some people reported a battery pull as a temp fix. I tried it but it doesn't seem to make a difference.. have you tried this? also is the problem intermittent for you? or has it just stopped working and you haven't been able to lock on since?
just did a factory reset and still the same thing
no one has anything I could try to attempt to resolve this issue ?
Happened to me. Fixed itself in about 4 days.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
im having the same problem since FRF50... my gps is slooooow and inacurate... ive tryed everithing, changing radios, several wipes, flashing all kinds of roms and backups... still the same...
when im in my house, the blue triangle appears at my neighbors house!
When I first got my phone the GPS wouldn't seem to get a fix (OTA FRF91, totally stock), but it essentially fixed itself. I took it outside and let it sit for 5 minutes trying and it eventually did get a fix, and now it gets fixes quickly like you'd expect. I should note that when I got to to make the first fix I had cell tower assist turned off.
Happened to me in FRF83. Went back to CM5.0.8. Started working again. I am on CM6.0 RC1 (based on FRF91) and it is working without a problem.

I've tried that too. I've had the problem for almost two months now but I never had it before. It's really starting to get annoying since none of my other apps can detect my location either [weather, news]. I hope it just magically works again some day like it did for everyone else.
could this possibly be faulty hardware? should I try sending it in for a swap??
Settings -> Location & Security
Make sure that "Use wireless networks" is checked.
I was having a similar problem.

[Q] Screen problem

Hi all,
I have an S3 mini but i'm having some heird screen problems... When I am at the keyboard, sometimes some letters doesn't work... If i go to the menu or something the phone have a strange behavior... for example swiping between homescreens blocked at the midle... but if i lock the screen and then unlock the letters are already working...
What could it be? Software problem? Or hardware?
The phone doesn't have any modification...
Thank you (and sorry for bad english).
try at first to reboot your phone and if this don t work, back up your data and perform a factory reset to configure if it is software or hardware problem.might be also one of the last apps you installed. good luck

Already done that... The problem continued only with the default apps...
But I figured that when I lock there isn't the 5 second rule (pin lock)... I removed the pin password, no more screen problem... How is this possible?

[Q] Screen not waking up while on phone call

Hi,
I have a brand new Xperia SP, manufactured on 2013/W50, so it's really new. It contains the latest stock firmware.
After I start or answer a call and put the phone to my ears, it's screen doesn't came back and remains off until the call is ended by the other party. No matter if I'm moving the phone away from my head, not even the hard buttons are turning the screen back on. The touchscreen is not working either. It's just stuck as if it's near to my head. I can't even hang up the call...
It happens about 80% of time. Sometimes it works as expected without any problems. Happens more often when having an incoming call after a longer period (30+ mins) or if the call takes more than 1 minute (auto screen disable time?).
As a workaround, I turned on the function that power button hangs up call, but I cannot use my touchscreen while call.
I checked the proximity sensor with the phone's diagnostic function and with cpu-z and the sensor is just working fine 100% of the time.
Is it a known bug or a hardware problem? Does it have a workaround?
hmmm

I have the same problem. It is one of the few bugs in 12.0.a.2.254 build. Guys using unofficial release of 4.3 are not facing such problems. I suggest you to wait for the official 4.3 update which will be released soon according to SONY. :good:
really?

thanks!
so, this is surely a known bug in the 254 firmware? I'm just wondering because I asked this on other xperia sp forums but no users complained about it.
is there a workaround for it?
yes

I experienced this problem once.I think it was fixed after performing a SEUS repair...Not sure though :silly:...
Try performing a factory data reset on even reset app datas

thanks to both of you, I'll do factory reset and repair via PC software, and some more factory resets. that should solve the problem.
I'm wondering why an out-of-the-box phone needs a reset, but let's see

I hope everything goes fine
no success
I reset applications, did a factory reset, reinstalled phone's software with sony pc application, checked after each step, but no success...
sometimes working, sometimes not (mostly not) but the proximity sensor works fine.
out of ideas...

Bring it to a sony service(or how's it called to your country)
it seems it's related to deep sleep. when I am called after the phone was left for 30+ minutes, it's more willing to not turning on the screen, but it turns it on after a while if having a long call. when I start the call, it mostly works. not always, but most of the time.
so it seems it's not sensor-related but something like the software is bugging.
what I don't really understand, why the hardware buttons are disabled while phoning when the phone is put to the face. it'd be enough to code that power button turns on/off the screen no matter what the proximity sensor says. I'd program it like that as a backup solution.
I wouldn't send it for repair, here in Hungary I always hear that mobile phone services just reinstall software and don't care about testing or finding the problem (if not deterministic), and do it again and again while you get tired and accept the failure. yes, it's sad but in the time of MNCs, the user doesn't matter at all after bought the product.

Try flashing custom firmware(not sure if it will work try it)...
If it doesn't work again then it's a hardware fault and not a software bug

yes, that's another option. the other option is to cry off from purchase (I can do it within a week), they return the money, and I buy another one. I'll see as this is not that disturbing problem and I have no other problems with the phone like wifi bug or anything else.
someone said it's a bug so I hope 4.3 next month will solve it.

Nokia 9 crashes after screen unlock

Hi,
couple of days ago when I tried to unlock my screen, my phone immediately turned to black. I was not able to perform a fingerprint scan or use my pattern to unlock my screen.
It kept on flickering.. from unlock screen to black. After some time the phone restarted and came into recovery with the message: "Not able to start android.. Retry or factory reset."
After 3 times I did a factory reset..
So far so good for now..
Anyone experienced the same? I know someone in the Netherlands (I am from the Netherlands) had the same issue!!
I happen to be Dutch too. I don't normally use security for my phone, but I used that fingerprint scanner for two days to see if I would get the same problem. Unfortunately I have not encountered a problem. I hope you don't get this problem anymore either. Success with it

Note 9 turns off when using fingerprint unlock

Hi,
I have a N9600 Snapdragon, currently on Pie.
The problem started occurring 3 days ago, for no particular reason, phone wasn't under water or dropped or anything.
When the fingerprint unlock is on, and the phone goes to sleep it shuts off.
Turn off the fingerprint unlock and everything is in order.
The fingerprint scanner functions within apps and for gestures.
Samsung support post here with people having the same problem on all 9s.
https://us.community.samsung.com/t5...f-when-usinf-fingerprint-security/td-p/346174
This cant be a hardware problem when its happening to so many people across models?
And yes, Factory Reset doesn't fix it, Its still there in safe mode as well. Ive even tried flashing a different region firmware, problem still there
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Send it for repairs until fixed

Either disable FP, or wait for a software update.
A quick search found this:
https://us.community.samsung.com/t5...usinf-fingerprint-security/td-p/346174/page/3
revert back to orio. Orio is most stable version.
Maybe make a factory reset with Odin
i had tried all of these ( Factory reset, back to oreo ) nothing fixes, to be honest, the problem begun on oreo.
Already sent it to samsung, they didn't find any problem, but after 3 times they gave me a new phone since those are the rules in my country
Open a RMA request and see what happens, ppl say that you should turn off FP, but it does make a substantial difference, at least for me, its pretty bad, using another method since i really don't like the iris scanner.
Same
My phone started shutting down on its own while in sleep mode out of the blue just the other day. Found this thread and discovered that this was the problem. This is super annoying. If a software patch is all that is needed, it can't come soon enough.
