Does anyone else have this problem with the clock on the lock screen after the 4.2.2 update? Every other power cycle, it looks really different. Also when rotated, it looks normal. Yes I know the normal look is hours in bold and minutes in regular font, but this is something completely different. Yes I searched xda and google and could only find people having issues with the bold font. FWIW, I used adb sideload to install the update. Video below.
I'm seeing the same thing on my Nexus 4. When I turn the screen on the time is offset to the right and the hours are not bold. If I cycle the screen off and on again its back to normal.

I am using Dash Clock now. Way better than the standard lock screen.

Interesting. I haven't updated my N4 to 4.2.2 but I see no issues with it in 4.2.1. The N7 did not have this issue on 4.2.1. either. Anyone else having this issue? Maybe I need to reflash the update?

I wouldn't mind using another widget on my lock screen, but since I am connected to my companys exchange server, I need to put in a password which effectively locks me into using the stock clock widget. I am looking for a fix to this issue as it is bugging the crap out of me.
So I did some more testing and found out the bug only occurs if I have my MS Exchange account linked. If I remove the account the bug disappears. I tried this with every screen lock option (minus face unlock).
MountainDrew, are you also using the Email App for MS Exchange?
Noticed this as well, but I use deskclock as my main widget, so it doesent really mater

Someone has already started a bug report on this issue. Seems as it is 4.2.2 specific and not just device specific.

I have been using HD Widgets lock-screen widget for a long time but Dash Clock has definitely better usage.
Though HD Widgets has a beautiful look and more customization options..
Just personal preference. I personally just really dislike the way HD Widgets and Beautiful Widgets look.
Sorry guys but this thread is not a discussion about different widgets. Another bug report on google code has this issue correlated to the lock screen widget set by device administrator policy. This means the lock screen widgets are frozen and not changeable so any alternatives are essentially useless.

So you're saying the replacing lock screen clock with DashClock isn't possible, and those of that did must be imagining it?

Did you read any of my posts or the bug report at all? It is clearly explained that lock screen widgets are frozen if you have device adminstrator policy set (usually by a MS Exchage Server if you want to access work email). If I remove my MS Exchange account, I can do whatever I want and this bug goes away.

No. It's a pretty silly bug. Considering how awful the stock lock screen clock is, I would consider it an improvement.

Again, I do not have the option to change my lock screen widget because I use MS Exchange for work. I'm stuck with the stock clock widget and this bug is annoying. I would honestly rather have the weather there instead, but again...I am stuck with the stock lock screen because of my work email. Silly bug or not, it needs to be fixed.

I have changing clock too. But if i enable lockscreen widgets again (app lockscreen policy) it is working fine. So im pretty sure its because of lockscreen policy (deactivated lockscreen widgets)

Hello,
I'm on 5.0.2 Sony stock FW, rooted. I'd like to be able to add custom widgets to my lock screen (Power Toggles) and to be able to enter my pattern without having to swipe up first. (The dot grid only becomes visible after swiping up from the bottom of the lock screen.)
So basically, I'd like the lock screen to immediatly show a widget and the grid. Notifications are not necessary.
It used to be simple to customize lock the screen... Does anyone know how to get this done?
Thanks!

Well, it looks like you're right. I have even tried several apps. (CM Lock, SnapLock, AcDisplay, Keypad Lock) While some offer better customizability, none show the dot grid without swiping.
I'm starting to miss KitKat already. Who could have possibly thought of this as a good idea?

Lollipop does not support lock screen widgets like KitKat did. I use Power Toggles too and now use the notification feature to show toggles on the lock screen. The reason you have to swipe up is to get past the notifications so you can unlock the device.

Scott, I hadn't considered using the notification feature of Power Toggles. That solves one problem. Thanks!
Also I must admit, coming from an Xperia V, the facial recognition works pretty fast in lock screen. (Found under security > smart lock) That means one swipe usually does the trick towards unlocking.
Sony's not off the hook as far as I'm concerned, though. Reducing customization options is never a good thing.
Besides, I don't like some other decisions they've made. Next up: finding a way to get the kill all apps button back

Glad the notification approach works for you.
Regarding customizations, if you are referring to the lack of lock screen widgets, that is not a Sony customization. It is a change to Lollipop. My Nexus devices to not have lock screen notifications on Lollipop either.

I wonder why Google decided to disable widgets on the lock screen. Surely they must know Android users love customization Security perhaps.

I found a way around this, for anyone who's interested. This thread links to stock firmware that has a "close all" button. As far as I understand, it is currently the latest version and localization doesn't matter. But I'm no expert, so please head over to that thread for any information and questions.

So I know we've just gotten our hands on this phone but is there any way to change the rediculous stacked clock other than a theme? I think the S8 is same so maybe there's an app for this.
Settings>Display then scroll to bottom and you'll see the option for Always on Display, Smart Stay etc.
Not the aod clock, I mean the actual lock screen clock.

I have an S8 Plus and this is what worked for me to get the awful stacked clock off of the lock screen. 1) go to settings, choose the option for Lock Screen / Wallpapers. 2) Choose the option for Information / FaceWidgets. 3) Choose the option for Contact Information. At this point, you can enter your contact info if you want to, but you don't have to. Simply hit the space bar a time or two, and save. You should now have a much better clock when you look at your lock screen.

I just put a weather widget on the lock screen under the clock and that took care of it.

Choose a theme. I know it's a bit of an annoyance, but I changed my theme and it changed the lock screen clock.
If you turn on notifications in settings, lock screen and security, the clock will be horizontal. It could go back to vertical when there are no notifications, but i have viber icon enabled, so there's always one notification active.

I’m not sure this is exactly what you mean, but I figured I would post it and if not you won’t use it. I didn’t liked the digital clock either because it was stacked. I also already have a digital clock in the notification area. So I chose the analog clock and picked a different color as well. This has nothing to do with a theme because I actually set this up and Nova before I looked for a way to get a dark background and found a decent then that worked for me. I hope this helps and it’s what you are looking for. I would’ve answered sooner, but I just noticed this thread. If you meant something else and you haven’t solved it, please let me know.

AOD (Always on Display) is not what I'm talking about. The option your talking about is for AOD not the lock screen clock.

Yes, it was. Like I said, I wasn’t 100% certain exactly what you were looking for. However, that being said, I do have an analog clock on my AOD and a normal digital clock on the lock screen. I think there are only 2 possibles on why that working on my phone:
1.) I have a free theme downloaded and installed because I wanted a black background. I was concerned on doing this because I have my phone setup to look a certain way as I’m sure you do as well. I use Nova Prime and Cobalt Icon Pack. I was afraid that if I installed this it would change what I had set up, but it different. In case you wanted to try it, the name of the theme is Material_Black
2.) The other idea that I have heard that works and ironically I’m using one, is to install a Weather app. I have Transparent clock & weather installed. I also use the a widget from this app on my home screen to show the time, weather, and lots of other stuff. I’ve read from other people mention 2 or 3 other weather apps working as well. So if you’re using a different one, maybe you could try that first.
The reason I am assuming it’s one of these 2 ideas is because I changed my AOD clock to be the stacked version and my lock screen clock didn’t change. It stayed it’s normal digital. So obviously what you have set on your AOD has no bearing on the lock screen. If you try the theme idea, I don’t believe there are any special settings to enable. However, using the weather app may require a specific setting that I’m not sure of. I’ve been using my weather app for years on numerous phones and I really haven’t changed any settings on it other than some aesthetics.
I hope this helped out. If not, I can look again in my phone because obviously something is working on my phone to accomplish what you want. I would also appreciate it if you try these ideas, if you could let me know if it works and which one/specific settings. This way in case I come across other people with the S8/S8+ and Note 8 I can be more specific in helping them. Good luck! I hope one of them work!
One of the things that I miss from my Nexus and other prior pure Android devices is full screen lock screen album art. Does anyone know of a hack or workaround to get that on one's Note 8?
Thanks

If I remember correctly, there is a plug-in to muzei app which is a live wallpaper app. The plug-in give you the option to set the appropriate albom cover as a wallpaper with or without blur effect. You can try and find it and set it as your lock screen.
Hope it helps, update me
Samsung got rid of full screen lock screen album art in Lollipop.

Firstly,
it depends what "Samsung phone" you got.. a Note 9 or what?
Secondly,
as far as i know ? ,
if you use a 3rd party lockscreen app, you canot use Fingerprint etc to lock/ unlock and certain other apps eg like some banking apps.
You have to use a stock (Samsung) method.
Good lock 2018, is only available to certain markets,
worldwide.
I do not have option to install Good lock 2018.
I have installed standalone, NavStar app (Samsung)
(ApkMirror website)
which i believe is part of Good lock 2018.
It has navbar lockscreen option.
Works fine, no issues.
I'm sure there is other Samsung options also. eg Edge panels etc.
See screenshot
If you don't mine an onscreen floating button, you could use the Assistant menu found under Accessibility, Dexterity and interaction to get a floating always on button. You select the features that you want or turn off all the features except the lock one.
you can just set it to lock after 5 seconds when the screen goes off.
Nova Launcher Prime is another option - You can use gestures to screen lock by double-tapping screen or double-tapping the status bar.
Sorry not mentioned , it's Samsung Note 9. I tried install Good lock 2018, but can't use.

Then you are in same boat as me.
I couldn't install Good lock 2018 directly, due to market restrains, etc.
I had to separately in install each standalone app
that's included in Good Lock 2018.
I downloaded these standalone apks.
from ApkMirror website, also i had to download
Activity Manager (free) from Google Play .
It's an app to create shortcuts, to enable you to access each standalone app settings, as it the apps
won't appear in app drawer.
See screenshot, for
some of standalone apps (Good lock 2018) and Activity Manager app.

Use the Navistar "add a button".
Just on screen lock put the nav bar with the off button.
