While I'm eagerly waiting for the Oreo OTA, I would like to know somethings regarding the following points from you guys who already installed the update,
Did the screen dim issue got fixed?
Is there any optimizations to the camera? (low light, shutter speed, noise reduction, bokeh effect on subject edges in the wide aperture mode)
Did they add a 16:9 ratio to the 12mpx and 20mpx resolutions?
The bokeh effect on the front facing camera, did they improve it?
Did they add an option to control the notification volume separately?
Is there an option for changing icons shapes like on the pixel?
And finally Battery life better or worse?

Hello , for me the camera has been optimized, there are more details and contrast especially at night.
The protrait mode and bokeh is better manage.
16: 9 mode is not available for 12 and 20 mpx.
There is no option to separate the notification volume for each application (if that's my understanding).
There is no option to change the shape of the icons.
And finally the battery is worse than the previous version, knowing that I participated in the beta of android oreo and the battery was better than now with the final version B360.

Thank you for your reply! So about the notifications volume, I mean is it possible to control the volume for ringtones and notifications separately? Currently in Nougat they are merged together, because in many other devices you can actually for example have your ringtone volume at 100% and notifications volume at 20% but here in EMUI you can't do that so changing the volume will apply to both ringtones and notifications.
As for the battery life, I saw that many people reported that it's great and even better than Nougat, so maybe you have to do a factory reset.
Also you are you aware of the screen dim bug? Currently in Nougat if you switch between some apps especially a browser, the brightness will go darker even if you set it to manual, so I hope it gets fixed with Oreo.

Yes indeed it is possible only when to receive a notification ..!
As for the battery i have already done a reset and it's not better. As for the bug with the screen, I did not notice anything about it.
In general the update has improved the fluidity of the interface and the phone takes better pictures

For changing volume for both Ringtone & Notifications, I use an application called Volume Control +.
This app allows you to edit your volumes. Unfortunately when you first open the application your notification and ringtones are still joined together, but this is simply sorted by going to the in-app settings and toggling the separate the ringer and notification volume.
Edit: You will have to edit your volumes in the app, but if you would rather have seoerate volume levels, like me - you'll get use to it.
I'm eager too I'm on B162, brand new from argos unlocked and on 3 network. I really happy with the phone but hate the 13 hour battery life. What do you get out of it?
Wondering the same....
With Oreo I got the DIMMING issue especially when in bright conditions like outside. Another issue is Bluetooth music where the music info is showing the former titel on the Playlist after song change. Anyone else with the Bluetooth issue? Else the battery was better in Oreo. Now I have rolled back to Nougat because I often play music in my car using Bluetooth.
Another strange thing is when exiting an app sometimes the homescreen icons come back very slowly.
Can't find anywhere if there are bug fixes yet.

The Main Camera works fine with this rom. I tested it over the day and the only issue i found was battery life (again). You will make it through a day, but Idle takes a lot of battery (compared to original MIUI). So if you hate MIUI as much as i do, than you may have to charge your phone once a day, even with a SOT of only 2h, but if you can live with MIUI, you should wait a few more days (or weeks). I will flash non MIUI Roms until i found one with great battery life and without anoying stuff.
Edit: I believe I've found the reason for the bad battery life. The phone doesn't enter deep sleep and is always awake. I will try to reflash the rom, maybe I can solve this problem that way.

There is no menu to configure them, but you could download one of the many apps from the playstore or even from xda. Whatsapp, for example, has its own led light configuration and that works. For me normal chat messages are white and groupmessages are blue and both works.
The battery issue seems to be gone. After wiping the dalvik and cache again (first wiped, after flashing the rom), it seems, that the phone enters the deepsleep normaly and the battery doesn't drain as fast, as it did before. I'll look how much battery i will loose tomorrow, but i think, that this rom is the best out there to avoid MIUI

Audio over Bluetooth works and voice calls on every speaker (including speaker over bluetooth) works fine as well. I will try to remove the bloatware of the zip tomorrow, so if you can wait, you will get a clean rom for flashing
You just have to flash the zip and gapps and your phone will be MIUI free, without any noticeable bugs (HDR is not working, but i dont use it, so not noticeable for me )
Flash this ROM..
Better than other from my perpective...

Just one thing that bugs me is the center clock, as I am unable to remove it. Using gravity box, I can move it to the right, but then it overlapps user selection on the lockscreen. Any ideas?

Hi everyone,
Coming from a rooted and modded G2 , It was weird for me not to have 60fps video recordings as I mainly used 60fps before.
This weekend I took it upon myself to find a solution for it.
The good news:
It works, we have FHD 60fps video recording.
The bad news:
It comes with a tiny limitation - I couldn't make the wide angle camera to work with 60fps.
What does it mean?
1. Even if FHD60fps mode is chosen, wide angle will only record in 30fps.
2. If you will start recording a video using the main 16MP camera on 60fps, and during this recording you will change to the wide angle lens, from the moment you change to the wide angle the recording will use 30fps (even if you go back to the main lens after).
Screenshot:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-D1R0L7NVDIdnJzZ3FPMmxWb2s/view?usp=sharing
Note:
-I own an H850 European variant. As far as I know, it should't make any difference as long as you are rooted.
Update: Tested also on H830 (Thanks lordodin912).
I've tested the "60fps camera mod + 64Mbit UHD" and the "Restore original" zip files. "60fps camera mod" should be identical but I haven't tested it yet.
-If you encounter pink screen when HDR is on, xbenjiiman updated us that 10d fixed the issue for him. Thanks.
Important:
-If you encounter hiccuping in the video (and you probably will), turn off "steady" in the camera settings. You should see "OIS" icon instead. The hiccuping should be gone and you can enjoy smooth 60fps.
Warning:
As always, backup your device before. Just in case.
I am not responsible for any damage to your phone from using this mod.
That's it, enjoy 60fps!

Instructions:
-Make a backup //recommended, not a must.

*No need to delete cache \ dalvik etc..
If for some reason you're having any issues with the camera, first try to delete the camera app data in the phone's settings.

Not sure about "many" optimizations but it includes all the optimizations I know: 100% photo quality , higher bitrate, 60fps.
Keep in mind, disable "steady" (so the icon will show "OIS") setting when recording 60fps to avoid glitches.

OK then now you don't need a second app for that. In addition, you get better photo quality for photos and higher bitrate for video. Your choice of course.

It seems that the wide lens hardware is not capable of 60 fps recording. I tried put the 60 fps profile in video_sub_rear_supported in camera_config.xml, it let et me choose the FHD60 in camera setting, but it just record at 30 fps

Okay it's weird, because I test it first with clean install before uploading and it's fine, I'll see what I can do.
Okay, I have found a problem with video stuttering and I have a work around for video stuttering issue. Here is the explanation:
1. The problem is when playing video the power hal is not locking the rqbalance state for omxdecode, and when something trigger the rqbalance to lower performance mode (balance mode) the video start to stutter. The work around is to see if the current power mode is omxdecode or encode it will lock at that until it finished.
2. The problem for video recording is pretty much the same, the camera cannot acquire the performance lock so the video recording is stuttering.
I have attached the fix, just flash it in twrp. This is a temporary work around, because I think my code implementation is not that good, but I think Sony developers will have a better implementation.
For developer correct me if I'm wrong or you found someting else about this issue. Thank you.

Also, is this build pure sonyxperiadev or did you modify some things. I don't see a link to your github in the op, hence the question

This issue happen because of the active array size and sensor size is not initialized in cropregionmapper because active array pixel size < sensor size. My fix is just to comment the return at cropregionmapper update when active array pixel size < sensor size condition happen , so that it will still initialize. It's a bad implementation but it works until the better work around is found.
Code:
void QCamera3CropRegionMapper::update(uint32_t active_array_w,
uint32_t active_array_h, uint32_t sensor_w,
uint32_t sensor_h)
{
// Sanity check
if (active_array_w == 0 || active_array_h == 0 ||
sensor_w == 0 || sensor_h == 0) {
LOGE("active_array size and sensor output size must be non zero");
return;
}
if (active_array_w < sensor_w || active_array_h < sensor_h) {
LOGE("invalid input: active_array [%d, %d], sensor size [%d, %d]",
active_array_w, active_array_h, sensor_w, sensor_h);
//return;
}
mSensorW = sensor_w;
mSensorH = sensor_h;
mActiveArrayW = active_array_w;
mActiveArrayH = active_array_h;
LOGH("active_array: %d x %d, sensor size %d x %d",
mActiveArrayW, mActiveArrayH, mSensorW, mSensorH);
}

Thank you.
edit: sorry, mess something up, for you who have downloaded it, please download again

Hey! I'm the one who developed the RQBalance-PowerHAL.
Yes you are absolutely right, the logic for what you explained is missing.... actually, the PowerHAL is not finished yet:
1. Some optimizations are still missing
2. Support for timed optimizations has been pushed, but this has to be used with the .. missing optimizations, mainly for camera.
If you have any ready code to address the issue, I will be happy to review it and eventually help you to make it better.
We're always open for contributions!
Hi, are you planning on making F8331 builds? would like to use your Oreo version with the camera offset fix.
Thanks
Is this ok to flash through twrp?

Right now my problem is my laptop storage space, it's almost full, you can use fastbooking or clshortfuse build, just flash the stutter fix, it includes the camera hal too.

No, it's not a flashable zip.
Hi everyone,
my p30 Pro seems to have a limited manual focus range, in particular when pushing the cursor to infinity.
When I point the phone to something very far away the autofocus works well, the resulting picture is perfectly sharp.
Now if I switch to manual focus and slide the cursor all the way up, I can clearly see a difference ! It seems to be occurring only when using the main 27mm lens.
Here is an example. Left manual focus, right AF-S :

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
I just updated my phone to .161, the problem still exists. I am pretty sure it is software-related as the AF works perfectly, but I didn't find anything about it through the internet.
I also tried with another app, 'HD Camera Pro', which allows to manually set the focus and it is still the same.
Any ideas ? Am I the only one ?
If I remember correctly, this "bug" was already present in the P20 Pro's Software last year. The work around was not to drag the slider to the right completely but leave a little wiggle room (like, focus to 95% of infinity). You could try if it still works.
Yep I read something about this, it happened to the Pixel 2 also if I am not mistaken ! Sadly it doesn't work for me, my focus isn't past the limit, it just can't make it to infinity ... and beyond
Could some people please try to reproduce this on their p30 pro ? If I am the only one (which I hope to be), I'll ask for a replacement of my unit ...
Have you checked if its ok if you stop short before hitting infinity?

It happens for me too. In manual focus it does not reach all the way to infinity.

Yes I did ! Here is the test :
The first picture is with Autofocus.
The second one is with Manual Focus, with the cursor all the way up to the maximum.
The third one is theoretically the exact same focus level as AF, as it keeps the setting when you open the Manual Focus Tab. So this one was 2 little graduations before the maximum.

Thank you ! I feel relieved in a way, at least I'm not the only one :laugh: So, I guess it is indeed software related.
Thing is, it happens with other apps I tried (HD Camera Pro, DeepSkyCamera), so I reckon the issue exists at the camdriver level...
Anyone managed to get around this issue? It's really annoying when I'm trying to take multiple pictures of the night sky, I cannot fix the focus. Auto focus keeps changing it between pictures. (I'm using an intervallometer app.).
Is there an official Huawei site to report bugs.
Thanks.
I tested this on both p30 pro and P20 pro with latest 9.1 patch, if you drag the manual focus to the top it lose all focus on both devices . So it's software related.
This is a common "issue" with lenses. AFAIK all DSLR and mirrorless lenses behave this way, no matter the price tag.

Can you upload your camera folder with fx explorer from system/odm/camera via copy. Fx explorer link is here. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.fx may be some help...
I have this problem too, I thought my phone was damaged! Autofocus gives a clear image but manual doesn't go far enough out. It happens in Filmic Pro too. Kind of disappointing that this bug exists in a phone designed around a cutting edge camera system. And why can't we use wide angle in manual mode? Or disable the EIS?
I had a LG V20 before this and it's stock camera app was soooo much better.

On my normal P30 I can use wide angle with Pro mode and manual focus

Yes with photos I can, but in video mode the option disappears.
And if you use wide angle in Filmic Pro it is far wider. They need to give us an option to disable EIS.

There is no Pro mode for video, at least on my P30 anyway, video is it's own mode, fairly basic
Might be something to do with Android 9 though as the Galaxy S9 did have a video pro mode on Android 8, but was removed in Android 9

Yes go to Pro Mode and then hit the video button beside the shutter. I'm using Android 9. You can control focus, white balance, exposure.. 1 to 10x zoom, but no wide. They really need to add focus peaking too.

Ah ok I see it now, but I do have the wide option too (Normal P30 not Pro)
EDIT - Wide only shows with 1080p, not with 4k
p30 main camera incapable of focusing at infinity manually
I have the same problem with the main camera on my p30 too. And this is really bad for me because I shoot timelapses of the stars. Unbelievable! I'm looking now to seee if I can send the phone back.
Huawei has shown off this feature when announcing EMUI 10.

Anyone has this feature in their version of EMUI 10?

Many users are complaining this on the official Chinese Huawei forum as well. https://club.huawei.com/search.php?mod=forum&searchid=83908992&searchsubmit=yes Seems like Huawei is ditching this feature on P30 Pro

No they won't, it's a Noweiway move to get users to buy kirin 990 Mate 30 pro. Even the old Samsung S7 from three years ago had a better more functional AOD than a 2018 Huawei phone. Shame on them.

I agree. Poor for a flagship device.
From what I read by them on their forums when someone asked about this NOT being seen on Emui 10 P30 Pro. They said its only on the NEW Mate 30. And they are happy to hear our requests for new features blah blah blah in coming updates. So.. yeah.. not coming..unless they change it
It's possible that they decided not to roll out this feature for the P30 Pro even though their promotional images show the P30 Pro running their new AOD. Personally I just ended up building my own custom AOD with third-party apps. Probably more customisable than the official option too.
Glad I don't use AOD. Very weak AOD for a 2018 flagship, when other manufacturers had better useful AODs back in 2015.

Welcome to 2016 Huawei. Yet, seeing it would be believing it in 2020 as nearly all their official comments and statements in recent times has never materialized. Lame excuse that only kirin 990 can support it.

I used Always on Edge to build a custom AOD setup. I set it up with a basic clock/date widget that displays a pulsing light at the top (similar to a notification LED) and app icons below the clock. It's also got a notification summary below that will display the app and notification title, but not the actual notification message content. Here's how it looks:
Originally the app is supposed to flash the edge of the phone screen for notifications but there's the option to replace the edge lighting with a more subtle LED effect. You can also customise the widget layout, size, and content (such as adding music playback controls that only display when music is playing). You can also set which apps are whitelisted or blacklisted from showing up in the notifications list as well as timing of the AOD. Instead of making it constantly display, I set it to only show up when notifications come in or when the device is charging. The app is free with the full feature set but you have to watch an ad every time a setting is changed. You can remove this with an in-app purchase though.
On there web site forums someone asked about this for the P30 Pro. They said.. it was not for the P30 pro.
