[Q] Tablet UI - Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Questions & Answers

Good day Mi Max 2 users!
I'm currently running ashwins LOS. Does our device have tablet UI? I've set my DPI to 289 and the UI is still the same. Has anyone tried to activate the tablet UI? If so, at what DPI?

As i know mi max 2 support dpi ranges 325-440.

Cause, when you have a lower dpi, the things on screen look smaller and give an impression of a high resolution, i changed cause the things are so bigger, and i dont like that i prefer Little things.
Look here is a nice example of it: http://www.android-hilfe.de/attachm...other-density-changer-200-320-dpi-preview.png
You can see that in the 240dpi things look smaller but in 320 dpi are bigger.
Another example: http://thecellularguru.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/appbrain-lcddensity-screen-before-after.jpg
I think it looks better with the lower dpi.
I am using 210 dpi for some time.
On mine previous phones I had changed it also. It is not possible to damage the phone with this change.
If you have problems with starting system, just restore build.prop file

Thanks men, is just that i read that this will forcé the gpu, and then maybe i can damage, i am scared cause in my last pone (Galaxy mini 2) i also change the dpi, but i dont know why my pone damage, i think it wasnt by this cause i get some issues when i began to overclock it, so i am a Little scared, my s3 mini has lik 2 weeks o use.
And if i use lower tan you?, im using it on 150 dpi, this will make some negative changes?
Thanks bye

Men sorry what are the toggles?
im using 215 on CM11 and no problem i got
no problem
i haven't read the comments yet. i don't know what others told you.
i am using the phone with 190 DPI and it is awesome. i haven't encountered with any problems, i am playing games too. but when you decrease dpi in stock roms there would be some problems like decreased in size of contacts or keypad . but on the custom roms there won't be any problems..

Yeah, i notice that with my last phone (Galaxy mini 2) when i was on stock and change the dpi, i cannot enter to play store or make calls cause the dial pad make forcé close, and some apps didnt work, also the stock launcher make forcé close, but i do it on cyanogenmod and it looks great, i mean problems maybe if the screen can damage or maybe the gpu burns, cause i read that when you change the dpi the gpu forces to show more things on screen, so i think for that reason i see some animations slow.
Thanks, sorry for my english

Xperia Z GPU, low graphics?

Hello, i come from Indonesia [emoji1]
May I ask a question, I know that xperia z has adreno 320 GPU, that clocked max 400 mhz, it seems this GPU is one of the best..
I use official 5.1.1, and I have used from 4.1 to 5.1, why game line let's get rich is seems bit laggy, especially when a little hot?
Any one can improve the graphics?
My brother uses on android one that use mediatek, it's fine to play this game [emoji25] ..

Didn't encounter such problems. There are occasional lags here and there, but its mostly because of game is self(crappy coding, lack of optimization, or use loots of totally useless light/shadow effects to hide bad models and textures).
But on my XZ I have no real problem with that, I tried most of games, Real Racing 3 load few years and after that it lag here and there, but its playable.
Even if I dont like PC Minecraft, MC pocked edition is my only paid game that bought and with everything on high its work really nice.
Did you tried changing GPU/CPU settings i Programmer Options in settings? (Graphi Acceleration/force GPU etc)
And yes, its gonna be hot as hell, my record is 78*C after that its FC most of apps, and when it reach more it restart phone... On summer in Spain I could play games maybe for 20min because I literally could not hold my own phone in hands xD
Yeah, maybe software optimization, but I think it's still cpu or gpu problem, I stated that android one that has mediatek with same clock gpu 400 mhz, can run this games so smooth ?..

But it if I know good Android One devices don't have FHD display. If you want better perfomance change resolution to 1280x720 and DPI to 320.
I recommend 360-380, after almost 5 years of playing with DPI on every device, 360 looks best on XZ, not that big as stock 480 and still not that small to squeeze face to screen to read something.
But to be honest changing DPI dont give anything in terms of performance, unlike resolution...
For changing resoultion I recommend this app(root of course is must have):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nomone.resolution_changer&hl
Didnt had any bootloop with it.
But be warned that changing res can mess your app. Its best to use after fresh installation OR after reseting apps/games settings.
Also its can mess soft keys(bottom nav buttons) and Stock Launcher. So its better to use custom one(I recommend Aviate launcher. clean, fast and with nice category tab).
I will try change resolution n DPI, let's see what it goes..
Thanks for your answer ?

OP3 vs Honor 8

I know this is not everything but damn that Honor is fast.
Wouldn't have expected that.
https://youtu.be/HvRFaIEUba0
If you are regular user just use the phone without flashing with ROMs, e.g. my mum, please go with Honor 8 as for faster performance. However, if you playing with ROMs, then OP3 will be the right choice.
I had a mate 8(kirin 950) and a mate 2 and they were quick but emui 4.0, 4.1 has it's issues. Some apps just wouldn't run in the background correctly unless they were converted to system apps and you need root to do that. Also, almost no development. The mate 8 would get security updates.

Huawei phone was set to performance mode thus it was set to max frequency all the time. Sure, it is faster in this mode but battery life would suffer a lot of used like this.

I also thought this but by the end of the video you can see the frequency of every core in idle and they are all settle down to the idle frequency and the battery usage is the same than the one plus 3 as you can see also in the end.

I'm not sure if the performance mode works that way on emui.. Emui is a different beast.

Kirin = Mediatek = No custom rom supports
honor phones are generally good but the skin is something i cant get hang of and there is no whatsoever support for custom roms.

Thats not worth if you already have Mi max 2 already. If you just want to have upgrade android version.
Simple buy mi a2 android one.
You will get all the android updates quick then to other device.
Even Android P (Pie) too.

Like you i love this phone and i like to buy it. But because of HiSiliCon CPU i'm sure this phone won't recieve any Lingea OS custome rom.
I prefer to buy a phone with SnapDragon CPU.

Sadly, it's confirmed that the bootloader of the honor note 10 cannot be unlocked, so it's near impossible for a lineage OS or any custom ROM to be on the note 10.

correct. ALL Huawei and Honor phones from now on onwards will have locked bootloaders that cannot be unlocked. and thats the very first step u need for custom roms. so thats it for alternative software, its ALL stock.

my redmi note 5 pro shipped with 7.1 but last week I had an update to MIUI 9 with android 8.1.
The same with my mother Redmi 5 plus (snapdragon 625), now updated to MIUI 9 with android 8.1
Is there any chance for Mi Max 2?
A bit OOT but just bought a Mi Max 2 4/64 for only US$170, Mi Max 3 4/64 is $260. I didn't think it was worth it, esp I dislike tall screens n non capacitive buttons

My Max 2 is fantastic with an OC to 2.8GHz, no need to worry about ARB and China version.
In fact, I'm buying another Max 2 :laugh:

It was just Huawei who stopped provide us the unlock code. But if we still wanna take some benefits from the a unlocked device, we can spend a few bucks (about €5, I used it 2yrs ago) to use DCUnlocker's service. Sometimes, Huawei's unlock website has been down due to the maintaining, so I switched to DCU (I'm a patient user :silly:, unless the website down when I got a new phone :laugh, and one more thing,l: I hope that DCU will not increase the price of the unlock service :laugh:
P/s: @jbmc83 , I'm asking a ETA, but can you update me on the info about P for Max2 :laugh:. This time of year is my high demand sale season, I don't have enough time for my online-life -__-. Thanks.

I've upgraded to Mi Max 3 and compared it with Mi Max 2. Take a look here
Here are the main differences of Xiaomi Mi Max 3 (comparing to Mi Max 2):
18:9 aspect ratio;
a bit thicker but more comfortable to keep in a hand;
slightly better screen;
improved performance;
fingerprint sensor works a bit faster;
better camera;
bigger battery.

funny thing though: due to the bigger screen, the MM3 actually seems to sport less battery life than the MM2, even though its got a slightly larger battery capacity. thats according to reviews and user reports.
