I'd recommend you to use the Flashtool and flash the original base ROM via .ftf file.
Read the sticky guides in the Troubleshooting and Development areas. If you try to flash a rom and it goes wrong I would reccomend using flashtool to just go back to stock and start over, flashing them on top of each other can create issues and make it hard to pinpoint where you went wrong.
Are you locked or unlocked bootloader? If locked you can only run roms designated as such.
Are you on the same firmware that the rom you want was based on? If not, get the.ftf file for that, flash it in flashtool, thenn root..recovery..then try your rom, a lot of them dont like it if you are cominy from a different firmware.
Get real comfortable using flashtool before moving on to the custom rom, so that you know its set up right, and that you can change fw, flash radios, etc smoothly. Finally.delete the sony companion from your pc, and only install it if you run into an issue you cant solve by reverting to stock with flashtool.
i send my unlocked and water damaged Xperia Z to the service center here in Germany.
The Water indicators are all white and my phone was dead !
After 8 Days i get a brandnew Xperia Z included Charger, Smarttags Black Dockingstation and Datacable !
I've got a more or less big problem. My Xperia SP cannot recognize, that my SIM-card is inserted. If I turn it on it doesn't ask for the PIN and furthermore I can't receive or send SMS's, I can't receive calls or call somebody and I haven't got mobile data. I tried to insert my SIM-card in another sony phone and it didn't work. I also put another working SIM-card in my phone and it also couldn't recognize it. I think (I'm actually sure) it's caused by the non-functional phone apk, but maybe also the SIM-card is broken.
What shall I do? I have a TWRP backup, but I'm not 100% sure, whether it is from before or after. What is a less- or non-risky possibility to replace the phone.apkor is there a better method to repair the phone?
edit: I found out, if my phone is turned on and I remove the SIM-card, it realizes it, and reboots.
Please help me!
???
Sorry, but why is my post ticked with a hook??? The problem isn't solved yet!
Get a new sim card.. This will fix most simcard issues

First of All thanks for your reply. But I already took another SIM-card (which on Xperia L works fine) and put it into my device but there were the same problems. Yesterday I downloaded the SemcPhone.apk file, pushed it to /system/app and changed permissions to rw-r--r-- and rebooted. Then it asked for the PIN but after unlocking I got a bunch of Force closes and they didn't stop.. Even after rebooting again I had the problem, so I deleted the apk file again. But it's now the same like I described there above :/
Reflash ROM.. You have phone.apk problems aswell so this should fix it
Okay.. And the stock ROM, is this the "Deodexed stock ROM" (777MB) from android development or the "normal" stock ROM (odexed) (12.0.A.2.245) also from android development section?
No, to prevent any issues just open Sony Update Service (can be downloaded from the Sony website) and "restore" your phone..
So go back to full stock
Okay cool thank you I'll try it

The last version of Sony Update Service misses the XSP.
I have contacted Sony Mobile to point this out. Untill we recieve a new update you need to use the PC Companion to restore your phone or you need to use Flashtool

Okay, then I'll do that
:/
I tried it with PC Companion but when it had to start repairing and it booted the phone into flashmode (I think so, because the LED was green) and then PC Companion said: "The phone contains modified software, which cannot be updated" and below "Error 2003" ..
I tried it 2 times and both the same :/
My phone has unlocked bootloader, is rooted, and has the DoomKernel, no custom rom.

Well that is unfortunate. You need to relock bootloader and reflash with flashtool.
You cannot use Sony software with unlocked bootloader

Oh! That's actually bad. But then I first have to flash back the stock kernel, then relock bootloader, repair with PC Companion and eventually unlock Bootloader again if necessary for me, right? Just for being sure.
Yes correct you need stock kernel then lock bootloader, then re flash/repair phone

Ok good. Now the last question: from where can I get the right stock kernel? I found a post from DoomLoRD, where he wrote, that you have to flash stock kernel.sin and no FTF kernel but I couldn't find a stock kernel.sin and in another post from alivanov79, alivanov79 posted a link to an FTF kernel. So Do you know which one is the right one?

Hello! I hope you're still alive!
I am facing the same problem, but before I start doing stuff, may I know if your problem has been solved?
My Xperia SP as well on occassion doesn't detected sim card. Sometimes when I need to make phone calls the most, it starts to do it. I am planning to send it for warranty, as I am having another 20 days before the warranty expires.
Surprisingly, many Sony Xperia models users have experience of having a phone that doesn't read SIM cards. Google reveals it all.

Hey,
yeah, I'm still alive
So, the thing is, my problem there had been caused by myself, fiddling around with some root stuff, so it hadn't been my phone's fault.
But what I did is I just flashed another ROM because I didn't see another solution and it really drove me crazy not being able to use the SIM card related functions.
Well, keeping your post in mind I don't think you'd like to flash another ROM (I probably shouldn't have done that, too).
So if you didn't already try to repair your phone with PC Companion, that'd be the first thing, I'd do in your case.
Otherwise I'd send it for warranty as you considered it already.
Yeah, my sister's Xperia L also has that problem and that's really unfortunate.
So I hope, my "advide" could help at least a bit although there may not be plenty of hints, but yeah.
If I shocked you with that essay I'm sorry, too

Lol I don't think ROM flashing is the root problem, as I have been using CM11 for a month (and maybe more). The problem starts appearing lately..
I will flash stock ROM and relock bootloader and then reflash stock via PCC to see if it will fix the problem
Anyway thanks for the reply!
No, that's not even something to be called "essay"....
Hello guys.
Almost 2 weeks ago I had a really strange issue with my SP. I force stopped a Sony Select app, and then my device got in bootloop - over and over again, never stopping. I got home and repaired it successfully with PC Companion.
Now, it happened again... But it wasn't Sony Select Force Stopping now. I changed my theme - to a downloaded one; the wallpaper wasn't showing. Redownload the same theme - the same issue. Then I also got no wallpaper on the other themes... I thought of restarting the device. Then, SURPRISE! Bootloop.
Now I am repairing my phone again using PC Companion.
If anybody knows what causes this issue, please let me know, I never ever rooted this device, only upgraded via PC Companion, not other sources.
Thank you.

Even if I updated with PC Companion, the firmware might be corrupted? So I'll. need.to flash another one from a different region?

But I'm from EU. I'll probably try another one from EU.
Even so, what really caused this?
There is not always a cause we can point out. Sometimes the systems gets messed up for some reason. You can Flash General EU from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2645939
Okay Community, I think you need more infos.
The Xperia Z is not my first phone, I flashed rooted and modded my Xperia Arc S before, so I know what I do im not a total noob but not a pro, so please use full words no shorts, that will help me to prevent more questions ^^
Okay lets go ....
INFOS: My Phone is 100% Stock and untouched, direkt out of the store. No Root no Bootloader unlock no branding.
Please foregive my bad english, I give my best sry for that I hope you can read it
I just tryed to install the new Kitkat 4.4.4 Via OTA direct from my phone, it fails, but starts normaly. So I had the idea to try the pc companion. It starts to flash up to a exact point. I got an Error could not flash and I should unplug my phone an retry, so I did. But PC Companion don't find my phone anymore.
I downlaoded flashtool 0.9.14.0 64x version
I downlaoded the 4.4.4 stock rom tft the flashmode works fine it began flashing. but exactly like companion it stops by flashing system.sin. I restarted my pc tryed again but same story.
So I thought it could be the firmware and downloaded 4.4.2 but the same with this.
I flashed 3-4 firmwares before this failure, I bought the xperia z with 4.1 jelly bean, it worked fine jet. But now I can't flash ANY firmware but every time it freezes by flashing system.sin, so I don't know whats the problem, flash mode is fine and the previous files before flashes fine too im extrem confused.
thank you guys for trying to help me :good: :highfive:

Hi
there is something wrong with the OTP even for me it reboots after 5%.
don't worry just download latest flash tool and and Generic FTF of your choice and then flash it the you want(with or without data)
for me it worked.
Make sure to install drivers from the ones that come with flashtool as well.
Just try to flash ur old firmware and see it works or not
Always have a multiple flashtools installed
TapaTalked from my Xperia™ (C660²) Z running Dirty Unicorns ROM!
Okay I don't know why but I just tried it a third time and reinstalled flashtool, then it goes. Now my phone works fine and got the brand new 4.4.4 kitkat
so thanks to you guys, you're amazing, I love this forum :highfive:
Forgive the separate thread, I haven't found someone who has had the same problem with the ZR, and I hope this will hit the keywords I was searching for.
Yesterday I tried to update a bootloader locked ZR to Lollipop using PC Companion. After downloading the update, I connected the phone to begin. A couple minutes in, PCC started giving an error that the server was unavailable (?!?), but not to worry-- restarting the computer would fix it. It did not. The ZR was now stuck in a bootloop, and PCC (and SEUS) was of no help at all.
I finally fixed it by grabbing the 4.4.4 kernel ftf from here, and flashing via Flashtool .
It's now back to normal. I'm not sure I'll try the stock Lollipop update again.
Flash the FTF using Flashtool next time, that'll almost definitely work.
