Works great on 7.1.1 also, it changed the UI and looks much better now.
Edit: When you look at your contacts profiles, it freezes up then force closes on 7.1.1 but the app works still.

Been using it for awhile, I really like the new update..
Just ashame about the dark themes on the Samsung store as it makes the colours in the messaging app unusable. White text white box.
Been running for a few weeks now...and there are many changes....can record and send audio from messages, gifs, couple other new things too

I'm not.
I hate that it doesn't play nice with dark themes & that you can't change the background anymore. Wish messages was still like Lollipop where you could change bubble style & background.
Is this the S9 message app?

I was receiving duplicates also and my suggestion is to go back to the stock message app lol. I like the way it looks but it was making my contacts app freeze up and giving random soft reboots. Also when I tried dialing a number it would freeze and then the messages app would force close before the call would go through.

There are two different type of screenshots. The screenshots don't have the same type of font. The most recent screenshot (Two of them) I took are those that I am showing the keyboard with the emojis on the Hangouts app. The other one was taken a long time ago but I can find the font file for you.
Specifically which one are you referring to?

This mod should work with Hangouts. However I believe that if you tap the smiley icon on the text field of Hangouts you will get Google's emojis. To get the iOS emojis invoke the smiley screen via the keyboard.

got it to work w/o root. use the app iFont Donate and just use the ttf file. works on hangouts, snapchat, my notes, instgram, my twitter timeline but for some reason it reverts back to the samsung emojis in the twitter compose box.
is there anyway you can just use the emojis and not the font? I've been using Roboto Light for some time and I feel like it better suits the 4.4 design. the font that comes w/ the ios emoji ttf files is ugly.
Missing Preview of Smileys
So from the link given above I downloaded the file under /system/fonts/AppleColorEmoji.ttf and flashed it via Philz touch recovery 6.25.0 and this is what it shows on my keyboard.Smileys Preview are missing for many but when i click on the question mark the smileys do show up in the message box .I deleted the applecoloremoji.ttf from /system/fonts on my phone, rebooted and i was able to see the default emojis that come with samsung keyboard. So anyone got any ideas why the smiley previews are missing on mine?I see a bunch of other files from the download link, would i need to get one of those as well?

Do you have Facebook messenger opened with a chat going? Or perhaps another app like that? I always have to remove the "chat head" from my screen when I get that message.
when I get it, I usually jump to settings, app permissions and setting the permission there. That almost always works.
Same anoying thing here. I had to Disable everything to make other apps work. I even had to change the message app to get around this issue. Hope so done finds a solutio. For that annoying issue
, put the phone in Safe Mode and then when it restarts you can do whatever you need to do if the apps and then take it out of safe mode

Is this what you mean by screen overlay? Everytime I get a notification while my screens on it's hidden in the background, only a portion of it pops up until at the very end it pops up but then it disappears and I can't even read it.

i dont think you can. You also cant turn screen off with it anymore without root (unless you PIN back in)
Go into the security settings, iirc the very bottom should have a toggle regarding screen overlay warnings
There is probably just one or two of the apps you have to disable. I have an app called swipepad that is always accessible by swiping the sides of my phone from any screen. When I turn this one off, I'm able to confirm app permissions. Super annoying though, as I then have to give swipepad overlay permissions again after the fact. You can get back to this settings menu by going to settings - applications - menu button - apps that can appear on top.

Turn off the blue light filter. That will get rid of screen overlay warning. Also if you have the twilight app just pause it

Nope. Happens on my Nvidia shield tablet now too after updating to the latest marshmallow. It's a MM thing. For now I stopped using swipepad and using the built in apps edge instead. You will have to do the same with whatever app is causing your issue if you want the problem gone permanently. Or wait for root.

Thinking about you this, I didn't realize why I was getting this prompt regardless of disabling all the apps with permission.
But I use the Edge panel, I will try disabling next time I get this prompt; should take care of it.

What is this Bixby Briefing?
If u go to the clock app on the S8 or the Note 8 and set up an alarm the Bixby briefing is a choice instead of picking a alarm tone. And when selected then the alarm goes off the Bixby Briefing will give u a news and time and weather briefing instead of just the regular boring tones that we get used to it even when u keep changing them

If anyone has gotten this to work, can you please mention as to what versions of what you have installed on your phone. i.e., the Samsung Clock, Weather, etc?
Like many others, this worked the first couple times, very cool and a change to wake-up to. But then after numerous app updates, Bixby Briefing would no longer tell me the news headlines. In fact it, it would no longer display that it read the news aloud anymore only time and weather. After uninstalling updates to the clock, I then installed version 7.0.80.40 which brought back the text about reading news aloud.
Long story short, It didn't read the news or even the weather for that matter. Just read the time, all the other apps apart from the clock are updated to latest.
Is it possible to get a Bixby news briefing without the alarm? What I mean is not the briefing when the alarm goes off, but rather a briefing available upon request from Bixby at any time.
If so, how?
The apps below on my toolbar section are all none functional now. I tried clearing the cache but to no avail. I tried dragging the icons out and the following also occurred.
I was attempting to remedy the phantom voicemail icon that was appearing on the top left area of screen. Basically, I installed T Mobile VVM and deleted all messages that were stored and then did the same with the baked in VVM app.
Any ideas?

isint this the old "take a screenshot of the desktop and set it as background to screw around with the end user" trick ?
i work in IT and have seen/done this on people's computer back in the day. what was even funnier was hiding the taskbar, disable desktop icons ,flip the image desktop upsidedown save it and set ask background then inverting the screen so the image was back right side up( on intel video displays ctrl+alt+down) and last but not least, invert the mouse buttons.(yeah... might want to invert buttons before flipping screen lol)

Some apps like mood messenger let you change how the emoji looks inside the app. But the note 8 default emojis show up everywhere else. I don't really like some of them, particularly the roll eyes emoji. It look looks a smirk haha
Is there a way to change it? Say to iOS styles or even the old Android blobs?

I use nextSMS (hancent) and it has very nice emojis, even animated emojis. Been using it for years and wouldn't even think about using another messaging app. Best feature is the popup notification so you can reply from the lock screen.

you should try Mood messenger. It does all you mentioned and even has floating head notifications. Animated emojis, and great customization for chats balloons and colors.
The emojis look fine in mood, it lets you choose what type but for other apps like Line Messaging, Viber, etc....it uses the defult Note 8 emojis...

Textra is a nice alternate messaging app. It has the ability to change the emoji style along with a lot of other customizations.

; When you install the first link, go to description, and go to the link for version 7.0 and up. You need to install that as well. So basically, you install 4 things, go to settings, change font, and that's it.
I've tried it on two note 8s, both work fine. Non rooted units. Both latest os versions

Hmmm... The two notes I've tried are stock. Philippines.
Did you go to stratum, choose the sans font, and press the circle at the bottom right to install the font in stratum. You have to install the font inside the first app you downloaded...

Ok..I can't get the pics to work...or even to show a link...what's wrong w this..tsk
Anyways, I'm just wondering if no one else got this to work. My phone and my friend's still working well.
I'm actually worried if the next OS update will put the emojis back lol
this worked great! any way to get stock Android Oreo emoji tho? ahah
haha glad it worked for someone else...took me a long time to find a solution that works...think it'll still be ok when we get oreo?
problem
I flashed zip file with emojis with twrp and now everything is changed (I can even use those which came with Oreo even I'm on MM) only smilies stay unchanged (still htc style). Can someone guide me how to make them Oreo-styled too?

Have you installed Substratum, paid for Sungstratum (Andromeda if you are on 8.0), enabled USB-Debugging, enabled ADB on your phone, given Substratum and Sungstratum/Andromeda access, paid for the Status Bar icon for Samsung + extra app / substratum addon, enabled the theme, scrolled down to font and chosen the iOS emoji option, built and enabled it and then gone into settings where you enabled this as a font and restarted your phone?
Make sure you have followed all these otherwise it will not work.
It works. The fonts that is. Didn't have to use ADB command. Using a few Substratum themes inc Wings
I'm so damn lucky. I changed the Emojis to IOS 11 a while back with a custom overlay and I updated to Pie forgetting the overlay was there and to my surprise the Emojis are still IOS.
Idk what kinda bull**** is this but I'm not complaining ?
Google, F*** you for blocking overlays in Pie.
