I would like to know if this is possible on the Note 8 without root capabilities.

Has anyone been able to disable the wake function by pressing the home key? The method I used for the note 2 (and which apparently also worked for the note 3) doesn't work. I tried editing the home key in system/usr/keylayout/gpio-keys.kl but it doesn't work. I also tried doing the same in qwert.kl...no dice.

Yep...found that as well. Was hoping it was a simple file mod like with previous devices as Wanam sometimes causes issues. So far seems to be working well. Thanks
I created this app for my own use because i feel that i misclick the recent app button quite often while playing some landscape game like vainglory which is quite annoying.
This is a very simple application, it would be straight to use it, click on the disable button to disable the recent app button or click on the restore button to restore it.
Note** after click on either of the 2 button your phone will be reboot immediately, so please save your work before proceed.
Note** This app required root.
Installation guide
1) Download the apk and the rar file.
2) Unrar the rar file and extract the whole folder to the root of your internal memory.
3)Enjoy
Awesome app! It totally ruins the VainGlory game on my phone and tablet when it reloads. I wanna start playing on my Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 (SM-T320) but this doesn't work. Any way you could figure out how to get it to work on a 5.1.1 stock Google rom?
Thanks again
Hey Dude!
I'm making a game and was wondering if you could share how you implemented this.
It would be sweet to be able to amalgamate this function directly into the game,
Cheers!
I seriously need to disable the function of recently used apps. I can't even make a call or text while it keeps changing to the recently used app and it minimize and maximize few times. I don't need this app. This is a Samsung A310
Um you guys do realise that the game tools can disable back and recent keys?
Help
Hi, I do not know if this post is still active.
I'm having a problem, my galaxy s6 flat recently started to constantly activate the recent button.
I have tried everything to disable it, when I comment "#" on the 254 APP_SWITCH key line it deactivates all the buttons, including the power button.
I do not know if this is a sansung problem, but I'm desperate and I can not find a solution.
Is there any possibility to disable or put a new function on the button?
sorry my bad english, I'm using google translate to communicate
tks
Does anyone know if it's possible to activate call recording using ADB? There's now so much can be done without ROOT, I wondered if call recording was now possible. I'm using ACR (app) which is working well when the call is routed through the loudspeaker but not so much when it's through the handset. It would just be nice to have it through the UI.
Yeah, I too am looking for such optuon without Xposed for my Note 8. Don't really mind if it requires root, just want the native call recording feature enabled...

I'd rather not root my Note 8, not much reason to these days with Substratum. I've asked over on Reddit too but folk just give suggestions of apps that work for them. I find no app works as reliably as the native feature. Well at least that was the case on my Note 4. If I find anything out I'll let you know and vice versa please.

So far, I've come across this XDA thread pointing out apps with no root required, several saying Boldbeast is something to give a shot:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/help/call-recorder-t3674386
And this methodology which requires root:
https://youtu.be/KuO3yfFGaoI
However, I'm still not able to use the one that requires root, 'cause for some reason (maybe due to me flashing CSC changer on my SM-N950N to change to a Canadian CSC) there's no CSC subdirectory in the System on my Note 8:
https://sck.pm/r3u
There's some strange CSC_Contents file though (as you can see at the bottom of the image), but not sure how to make use of it...do let me know if you or anyone has any ideas.
Thanks in advance.

I tried Boldbeast on my Note 4 before I rooted it and it didn't perform well for me so I've never considered it again.
I'm not clued up enough about all the CSC stuff, I only grab the basics, no idea about that image, sorry.
Of course, I'll let you know if I stumble upon anything.
Cheers.
I'm wondering if there's a way to change the sound that plays when you remove the S Pen, I know you can with root but I'm more interested in non root methods.
I did it with my old note 7 and tasker.
I do it with s pen toolbox app

Use this app. No root needed and works perfectly for changing the sounds. ( I don't use any of the other features so I cannot speak of their usefulness)

:good:
Worked for me, loving the light saber effect I now have! xD
The link is broken. It doesn't work for me.
The link for me just says "This item is unavailable" whenever I click Install. It seems either my Note 8 or country isn't supported.
Hey everyone!
I've wanted to use Maximum Power Saving Mode on my Note 8 for a while, but I haven't done it yet since it doesn't allow me to use custom apps. Spotify, specifically.
Has anyone been able to make other apps work on Maximum Power Saving Mode? This would be a huge plus if this could be done.
Thanks,
Jonathan

You need root to do this, and the procedure is simple make Spotify a system app, reboot and profit. afterwards you will notice Spotify is now available in max power saving mode. I had the same problem few months ago.

Easiest way is to move the app to
/system/app/
I always just systemize the apps using TitaniumBackup. You could also try the module "App Systemizer" *if* you are rooted using magisk.
However, spotify won't work as you'd like to, as there is a background process limitation. This unfortunately means, that background playing won't work.. I might create something to get rid of this issue
i am trying to get Messenger into the max power saving mode but no luck so far, tried all the above suggestions...
In the past the "ultra power saving mode" for the galaxy note 4 o the S5 it was possible to add apps to the list in very easy way just using the app "UPSM+" (having the phone rooted)
