looking forward to what the MM3 will bring to the table hardware specs are looking VERY promising indeed!
however, MM3 owners will then have to wait again for kernel sources to be released and custom roms to be developed. so its always the decision between matured dev community or the latest hardware

@jbmc83, How long have max and max 2 waited for kernel sources ? Max 3 will have one big adventage : project tremble.

Mi Max 1 took about 5 months from phone release to kernel sources release. For Mi Max 2 it was about 6-7 months.
Project Treble you mean, yeah Still hoping that it will be ported to MM2 as well, things are looking promising for that actually

Is this release initiated by xiaomi official ?
I am not sure if porting treble to MM2 is possible because of intel soc in old and qualcomm in new.

inofficial. redmi note 4 was the very first phone where treble functionality was ported. hardware is almost identical and the partition table needed for porting treble is also there on MM2. we would just need a dev to actually fill the vendor partition with the necessary drivers

same screen area as 6.8 1920x1080 p8max, asus z3 ultra
narrower, taller screen (dislike the narrower format, good for holding and maybe looks but not for viewing pages)
EDIT the above is based on 6.99 diagonal...if it is a 6.9 diagonal then it will have a smaller screen area than the above two models (albeit with better band coverage am sure, and upgraded h/w and improved s/w)
A while back I had read somewhere that a 6.98 (not 6.99) was the threshold for the highest diagonal size for phone versus tablet classification (anything greater was a tablet per the carriers etc) So maybe this a 6.98 or 6.9 or something else ...maybe even smaller.

as long as the display area is not smaller than the mi max 1&2 its fine by me

A 6.6 diagonal for the 18/9 format is maybe the limit at which it just gets to be about the Mi max 1/2 total screen area (narrower though) (but smaller than the honor note 8 pro 6.6 diagonal with the 16/9 format)
Huawei is supposedly working on a Mate 20 pro at 6.9 diagonal
https://www.gizchina.com/2018/06/11...en-from-samsung-destined-for-the-mate-20-pro/
so maybe the max 3 will be a 6.9 not 6.99 (anyway speculation will end soon in a couple of weeks or so it seems)

So if it don't have play store we can just add it anyway and when a global rom is out we can just flash it over there is no hardware differences ?

Mi 5 vs Mi 5s custom rom and software developement

Hi all !
My Mi 2s seems old after 3 years old (two batteries KO, the phone stills fast as the first day ), and then I will buy another Xiaomi.
The Mi 5 is a very popular smarthpone, has a lot of ROMs and kernels in comparison to his announcement date, but the Mi 5s has a bit of improvement (Snap 821, LPDDR4 at 1866Mhz, Sony IMX378, 3200mAh battery ect...) and has the same hardware of the Google Pixel (821 and IMX378), but at first look seems not popular as the Mi 5 for the marketing.
In your opinion, if I can buy Mi 5 and Mi 5s at the same price (version 3/64), wich of those has more chance of still supported from developers of custom roms like Cyanogenmod ecc..?
Will be possible a porting of some features or ROMs of Google Pixel to the Mi 5s?
I don't want to buy a phone like the Xiaomi Mi 4S, wich don't have any custom rom!
So thanks for the attention, have a good day!
The point that you've made with the marketing is why I don't think the Mi5s will have a lot of ROMs. This and the fact that Xiaomi released the kernel source for the Mi5 6 months after its release, so even if there will be, it's not gonna be so soon.
As of now I'd recommend you to stick with your current phone for some time and watch the progress of each phone's development section, but if it's custom ROMs you care about, you should probably choose the Mi5.
Even though the Mi5s has slightly better hardware, it's still soon to talk about its development.
I think that the Xiaomi MI5s won't have a succes like to the MI5 and the MI5 has an official cyanogenmod build and Mokee build and some plenty of port ROM wich work great like RR, OMNI ROM, SLIM ROM,...
Mi 5s Development didnt start yet, xiaomi will release it's source Code after a few month maybe a year. For now i think mi 5 has better development

Mi Mix 2 or Mate 10 (MIUI or EMUI?)

I know this is the Mi Mix forum and there'll be an obvious bias but I'd like to get some opinions.
I got a Huawei P10 as a gift and I'm very impressed by EMUI despite what the detractors say. As a Redmi Note 3 owner I also like MIUI a lot (once I changed that horrible launcher). It also begs the question as to who copied who in terms of functionality and customizations. Let's just say they're equal but EMUI just edges it for me.
Given that the Mix2 and Mate 10 will both be near bezel-less with excellent battery life (by reputation), which one would you get? Pros and cons of each and why? No custom roms or modding. Both stock.
It depends what you're looking for.
The Mate 10 will definitely have one of the best cameras (2 ISPs, a first for smartphones), it will also have a separate AI unit.
Kirin 970 will have 3 Cortex A73 cores - definitely no slouch in terms of performance.
BUT, Huawei is known for not having developer-friendly devices, in contrast to Xiaomi. Especially if you're looking at recovery options.
The fastboot images guarantee a restore from nearly every possible softbrick scenario.
Coming from a bricked ASUS Zenfone 3 Deluxe, I am quite happy with my Xiaomi Mi MIX & will probably skip the upcoming generation to climb on the SD845/Kirin 980 train.

Touch screen latency problem??

Does anyone having issue about touchscreen delay or lag or latency or whatever..? I hav mi 6x brandnew and i hav experiencing slow touch compared to redmi note 5 zzz
Why no one is complaining about slow touch and latency of mi 6x mi a2 :3
Is there any ?
Yes, I also experienced high latency on my Mi A2 64gb, it did not feel good at all! I compared it to a Huawei P20 and my iPhone 7 Plus, and they was light years better in touch screen.
I've noticed it and it's usually very noticeable when swiping left on the homescreen to look at google now cards. Specifically scrolling up or down sometimes leads to no action actually occurring. I enabled the developer options that shows the touches cause I thought it was a touchscreen problem and was actually able to see the touches drawing (so my gesture was being recognized) but the app did not scroll up or down at all. Removing the finger and scrolling again fixes it every time but it's certainly annoying.

In this review they actually test latency and yes is it very high compare to other phones. It is around 110ms on Mi A2! Redmi Note 5 has 91 ms and phones like Huawei P20 has 68ms and iPhone X 41ms.

Big thank Fyi, one thing i hav noticed that i hav three ph redmi 5 plus ,redmi note 5 and this shhit mi 6x ,and mi 6x hav very much high touch latency and its really PROMINENT everytime scrolling to everythings even in setting app. so i hav compared with redmi note 5 side by side and redmi note 5 is doing a lot more faster and really typing accurate ..so what does xiaomi got this..?...and anothet thing i hav experienced that when i first handled redmi 5 plus ,i got exact same problem like that ,so high touch latency ,alot of ppl at that time also in our country Myanmar complaining about touch ,then i decided to wait FIRMWARE updates and really it got fixed in recent updates ,then i started to check engineering menu and touch panel firmware version is increased and it got fixed, so now its faster than mi 6x ,lol.....then i got redmi note 5 which has the exact same material with redmi note 5 (Tianma TD4310) and its touch is fast ,So we can conclude that xiaomi fixed touch latency in redmi 5 plus and then released to redmi note 5 bcz the same touch sensor is used ,So i hope that mi 6x touch got fixed by getting updates in the future .xD

i hav mentioned about Mi 6x (and of course Mi a2 is suffering also..,)touch latency eariler before.and now here is what i got like in Oneplus 3T touch latency, i always got above the greenline everytime i typed in keyboard and everytime i scrolling to smth.. so Plz check it by developer options and scroll down all the way to Monitoring tab and then Select profile gpu rendering To On screen bars and then check it by typing fast or scrolling smth.. i m having very bad experience for now in Mi a2

This may b that u may not notice to what i mentioned the problem..So plz scroll in setting app.and the content r moving slower than the thumb reached to the point. U may scroll everything backward and forward fastly and u may noticed, or compare with another devices like redmi note 5 side by side and scroll smth on both ph, u will notice, and Plz test type fastly and u may notice too much words errors
For Those ppl who didnt believe me ,here is the Test of Mi a2 from France and kindly use chrome and check the screen section they did really tested about latency and mi a2 ,same at my mi 6x hav too much high about 110 ms.,quite unacceptable tho..

and here is poco f1 test..also hav same with mi 6x too much high latency.

If you've got the NVT screen (Tianma), I was able to overclock it to 70HZ. It should definitely help with response and latency. I also optimized my kernel for latency using a lot of tweaks. Take a look at the beta group if you wanna try:

And yes this is screen refresh rate, and all we want is to reduce touchscreen latency and response time when fingers move one point to another.bro..,poco ph and mi a2 or mi 6x hav the exact nt36672 digitizer And that is used in Oukitel ph...what a shame.

OnePlus 6T user here migrating to a Pixel 5. OnePlus updates slow significantly over time. 18th months after device launch your phone is 3rd tier for their development team. Below is the device update history from T-Mobile for the OnePlus 6T. Notice the change in release frequency from launch till current. I'm buying the Pixel 5 because of poor update support from OnePlus. Samsung has superior device software support to OnePlus.

as far as i saw from camera examples, the differences for regular people where not compare to SLR cameras are not so high , they improve the camera at the onePlus 8 pro, do i wrong?
about the updates, the onePlus 8 pro have the android 11 , the onePlus 7 have the android 10 and will get in month or two the android 11, also the onePlus 6 as far as i read, so whats the big deal?
at the other hand we are getting higher battery size, stronger processor, and larger screen , isn't it?

The oneplus does not have official 11, it's just a beta release
-P5 is a more managable size.
-Updates, 3 years of updates too.
-I've never ran OxygenOS on my OP6 because I've always had issues with it not giving me timely notifications. People probably think I'm crazy when I say that but AOSP roms don't have that issue for me. I'd prefer to run stock, maybe rooted at this point.

Disanvantages p5 vs OP8PRO
1. SD 765 vs SD 865 ( way more powerful SoC on the 8pro)
2. FHD/90hz vs QHD/120hz
On all other aspects P5 is better ( software is the big advantage for the pixel5 , where Google is unbeatable)

3. camera sensor is butt old and lens is medicore - its all just software (which has its limits, that in my opinion already were reached 1-2 years ago, but some people always will disagree because they "like what they see and think the past equals the present and the future")
4. no telezoom lens, for thats quite a big negative no matter if it's just 2x or 5x optically there are many many situations that such a lens is usefull for anyone
5. these updates - are enforced, so you're constantly nagged and maybe at a time even forced ("auto updates") to take them even if you know they're unstable despite being marked as stable (and they were for months f.e. on the Pixel 3a - 9>10 and now again 10>11 - just google yourself ). That got worse on Android 10 and likely will on Android 11 and 12 (for the better or worse of it) ...
6. google support is horrible
as for 5+6 - some examples:
https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/70324090?hl=en
https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/69968712?hl=en
https://www.reddit.com/r/android_beta/comments/h0qznb/any_major_issues_so_far_on_android_11_beta/
https://www.gizchina.com/2020/09/26...sh-broken-multitasking-black-screen-flickers/
... and countless others if you search on Reddit. So yes there are downsides (!), especially regarding software (ironically).
Only buy when you can live with that (not saying it's unmanageable, just being honest).
Another example:
Android 11 made matters worse in that they don't allow apps to access storage outside of their domain. So naturally you're forced to Android 11 and get lots of apps that are now incompatible (Stable not Beta). That in itself isn't bad - what's happening is by using the Pixel-Line you're basically a Beta-Testers for Google. All other vendors may adapt slower, but also will have less bugs solved by the time it reaches you. If you can life with that it's fine. I rather don't do that anymore.
Also using their beta builds and release candidates go so far as destroying their phones in an unrecoverable state (and interestingly all searches on Google regarding that lead to nowhere now, but I know it was quite a big thing from 9>10 back then). Thanks to hardware encryption with the Titan M that will like be worse in the future ... I don't trust Google any longer to be honest. Which saddens me, because I'd still like the Pixel line to be better and ... in the end Adroid being more successfull. But for me Google is becoming really evil, that includes Guerillia Marketing, but that's just my personal opinion that I don't want to reflect here ...

3. camera sensor is butt old and lens is medicore - its all just software (which has its limits, that in my opinion already were reached 1-2 years ago, but some people always will disagree because they "like what they see and think the past equals the present and the future")
4. no telezoom lens, for thats quite a big negative no matter if it's just 2x or 5x optically there are many many situations that such a lens is usefull for anyone
5. these updates - are enforced, so you're constantly nagged and maybe at a time even forced ("auto updates") to take them even if you know they're unstable despite being marked as stable (and they were for months f.e. on the Pixel 3a - 9>10 and now again 10>11 - just google yourself ). That got worse on Android 10 and likely will on Android 11 and 12 (for the better or worse of it) ...
6. google support is horrible
as for 5+6 - some examples:
https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/70324090?hl=en
https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/69968712?hl=en
https://www.reddit.com/r/android_beta/comments/h0qznb/any_major_issues_so_far_on_android_11_beta/
https://www.gizchina.com/2020/09/26...sh-broken-multitasking-black-screen-flickers/
... and countless others if you search on Reddit. So yes there are downsides (!), especially regarding software (ironically).
Only buy when you can live with that (not saying it's unmanageable, just being honest).
