Hi does anyone have huawei messaging APK?
I preferred that to Google sms app.
Anyone else prefer Huawei messaging app?
No, not really.
If you really want the Huawei sms client, someone has to extract it for you from an older handset. I don't believe the app is released on Google Play.
I've searched apkmirror, but I can't find any.
i searched for it but couldn't find it as when i used phone clone to port my messages across it said it had done them, but there was no messaging app, so not sure where stored as not in the google android messages app - luckily i have sms backup+ to backup text messages
Nope only Google Messaging, I prefer Textra anyway so use that instead.
yeh i like chompsms which is the daddy of textra - i have both, but there were some things missing from textra but are in chompsms
Hello,
I used to use the Huawei app. I managed to extract it from a Huawei Mate 10 pro. But impossible to install. Is it possible to make it compatible for the P20 Pro.
Sorry for my English

Glad I'm not the only one who prefers Huawei messaging sap.
Prehaps need to root phone.
Don't know why Huawei didn't give the option to install either.

I've not tried chompsms in years. I think it's the intrusive ads which puts me off and eat great fan of the ui.
I'll revisit it see if it had improved much.

Chinese version of p20 pro is using stock Huawei message app instead of Google... Maybe someone can find a way to find it and install it

I agree with you. Huawei messaging app is far better than the Google one.
So I extracted the Huawei messaging app from the P20 Lite model and sent it via bluetooth to my P20 pro but the phone doesn't let me install it.
It doesnt have to do with unknown sources. I think that the phone is programmed to block this app.
The must have had an agreement with google to use their messaging app instead.
It doesn't make sense that the P20 Lite model has the official one and the P20 Pro model doesn't.
Hello. Im looking for the same thing on my p20. O have Huawei messages on my mediapad m5, instead of ugly Google message. I couldn't find a way to install the original app...
Yeah, I used the Huawei Messaging app too on my P10, and when I moved on the Mate 20 Pro I was really disappointed to see that they replaced it with that ugly Google Messages app...
If there is a way to get rid of the Google app and install the Huawei one instead, please tell us how !
Am so eager to know this as well... Google messenges is not worth at all.. Just dissapoited
Where can I download apk from P20Lite?
Here is the latest Huawei Messaging app created with App Backup & Restore. Taken from a rooted Huawei p20pro running EMUI 8.1.0.
Good luck and hope it works.

Thanks a lot! I installed. This is unfortunately the same application as in the google store (not Huawei) I would like my old version from Lite. I have accidentally removed it. I tried to install from p10lite, but I can not.

Hi All,
I have order a Oneplus 3T that will be delivered today. Now have the Oneplus 3T a dual SIM option, but can i use WhatsApp two times? By Huawei you can use the option 'app twin' that Huawei have build in his EMUI skin.
With app twin you can use Social media apps: Facebook, twitter and WhatsApp 2 times, so you can use 2 numbers with WhatsApp.
I hope i can use this option (personal number and work number).

use any third party apps bro. They give more option than stock one if it was available.

Could you share a link to this APK via PM?
Right now I am using Parallel Space which works perfectly (also notifications) but drains battery. I used to test Island (Play Store BETA-section) which is great but I couldn't get it to properly work in combination with an applock so I switched back to Parallel Space. Maybe you modded APK will do better? Happy to hear from you! Some link would help
I use this application for second sim: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.disa
It doesn't have all the functions but it's ok for my job sim. If anyone has another better option, please share.
Thanks.

Hi all,
Unfortunately with the EMUI 8.1 on Android 8.1 with the P20 Pro the widget updating is still not working (see also the thread in the Mate 10 Pro).
Or is there something I did not consider?
Any help is appreciated.

No, you are not alone. Many many users have this problem. I think there is a problem that all apps are to much sleeping and dont wake up. Can be a bug in EMUI 8.1

Make sure you go in to Settings > Battery > App Launch then pick the app and choose Manage Manually and allow to run in background, I found that helped with some of my widgets that should update.

I cannot confirm this. The Huawei Calendar widget works fine and will be updated as soon as you start scrolling. Unfortunately I don't like the widget neither the calendar app...
There must be a solution for the programmers available from Huawei.

There is only a message "problems loading widget", not scrollable. You can remove/re-add the widget, and after a short time this happens again. EMUI makes most widgets useless, even when using another launcher.

Just got the phone and noticed this as well. I have my current S8+ running with an identical setup using Nova Launcher and I can see its widgets updating correctly while P20 Pro does not.
Any solution?
i'm using KGWT for widgets and seems to be working fine
The 'solution' so far is to go in to settings and change your display resolution and put it back, this refreshes the screen and also the widgets, other than that, no one seems to have a solid solution.
It seems like it is a bug with EMUI. The developer for Calendar widget pushed out a new version with a potential workaround fix for the widget on Huawei devices, but it still seems to not work correctly. Given Huawei's track record, I fear a fix is not close.
C782 latest update fix

Did you test this at least for three days? No? So, wait and watch, before starting to cheer.
Pessimistic, much!
It will be 3 days by 8am tomorrow morning so I'm pretty confident......most of the bug reports were noting the scrollable widgets stopped between 1 and 24 hours after activation.
I did wait 2 days before I posted.

Allowed to cheer?
So its now been 3 days 2 hours and 20 mins with widgets working correctly, for me at least I believe its properly fixed.
Huawei has also closed my ticket in agreement.
Happy Days!

I think XDA should close those Funky paid services (if any) forums and threads, and ban every user advertising it.
Hi all,
I used to have the Huawei p10 lite and one of its features was to cancel a message for 5 seconds before being sent. Now on my Huawei p20 pro I can't find this setting, was it removed as a feature please?
Thanks
That's because on earlier devices like p10, mate 10 pro and many more. You had Huawei's own message app and that app had different features, while on p20 pro and newer phones you got Googles default message app called Android Messages. So then feature you're looking for doesn't exists there because Google hasn't added that feature to their messages app yet or it could be in another way aswell.

I've been a android messages user for a while now, but since emui 8 on my p20 pro, I've not been able to set customizable notifications for different contacts. Thought it would work the way as Gmail app, but no luck. I'm using 3rd party app for the moment (TEXTRA), but I don't like it. Anyone have any answers?

Does Android messages do the same thing on other phones?
Yeah it does, I've used it since my P8, and my wife uses it on her P10. Checked again yesterday, can change notifications to whatever she wants. Its like they made it the same as their old sms app.
For some reason huawei has removed this option from android messages. One of many unexplained software decisions with emui

google made this rules
as new Google rule all messaging should happen via Google messaging app only
Wasn't Google, had a chat with the other week. They have no control of what Huawei did. And Huawei just said sorry, I'll ask our Devs team to look into it but they are looking into 9 pie, so they may never fix it.

which is fine, but it still does not answer why you can customize notifications in the google messaging app on any other phone, but not on huawei.

Tried it and it took me to the App Notifications Setting screen - selecting Messages does not show any settings to change the notification tone.
You should see an entry called Other notifications, click on that (the text not the toggle button and you will then be able to set the Sound and other options.

Thanks. I tried using Googlefier (on my Mate Xs) and I had the issue where I did not receive any notifications. And I had to always downgrade to EMUI 10.1 to install Google services. With this method I understand you can do it directly with EMUI 11 correct?
