Hi Guys
I've searched long and hard and now I think I'm at a loss.
I've bricked my new P20 Pro by successfully rooting and installing magisk but stupidly I've tried installing Viper4Android via selinux switch method....It's completely messed everything up.
I can get into erecovery fine but even after factory data wipes, resets, cache wipes, numerous resets....to no avail.
Is there a factory image I can flash laying about? it's my last effort at fixing this I think
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!
Cheers
Hi. Sorry to hear that.
I once unihstalled a Magisk module using the uninstaller in recovery mode. I'm not sure about viper4android but that's probably your best bet, if available.
Thanks huanhoho, I think I'm going to have to wait for an image to flash or something as there is no option available for an uninstall.

As great as the tool is and I get there are costs, but it's pricey, however so is the device we are using, so price worth paying?

When I unlocked the BL sunshine stayed on the unlocking part, after I paid, for almost an hour. So I hit exit and tried turning off the phone, and my phone hung up on the turning off. So I rebooted i, with vol down and power, and then the bootloader unlock warning poped up. So then I went about and got twrp through flashify, and everything seems to be working ok. Did anything similar happen to anyone else, and should I be worried it messed up my phone?
This happened to me also and if
your bootloader is unlock there is nothing to worry about. I would put money on your bootloader is unlocked.

Turbo Support has been merged into the main APK, and no longer needs mofo/Kingroot to work.
This version requires you to be on the 5.1 SU4TL-44 with the matching 3.10.40-perf-g90ddf4a Kernel.
Code:
Happy Holidays !
[B][COLOR="Red"]SunShine 3.2 BETA for Droid Turbo [/COLOR][/B](All other devices use the 3.1.XX release for now, as this is untested on other devices). Again DO NOT USE THIS ON ANY OTHER MODELS.
This is a beta, why? It needs more testing and has some bugs, but it is safe and it works. We wanted to get it out today, over the next day or two we will patch some bugs and push another version. (No need to upgrade if you get unlocked).
This version requires you to be on the 5.1 SU4TL-44 with the matching 3.10.40-perf-g90ddf4a Kernel.
You must either be rooted with Mofo, or Temp rooted with the latest kingroot from [url]http://kingroot.net[/url] (yes it works on the 5.1 SU4TL-44 release, it may take a couple tries, and is free).
When Kingroot finishes rooting, go to the setting and uncheck and recheck the option called "Root Authorization" (or something like that), than go into Sunshine,
You MUST have wifi on, even if not connected to wifi.
If it gets "stuck" for more than 5 minutes on a test, turn phone off, then check your bootlaoder. If its not unlocked, try again. It can take a couple goes (you only get charged once, and we guarantee it will work). KingRoot can also cause it to fail if their root bugs out for some reason, solution is to just try again. Uninstalling Kingroot , rebooting then reinstalling may be needed in some cases if it fails.
FYI. Pete

If you flashed twrp you're unlocked. all is fine.
Ok perfect it is all unlocked and running fine, I figured it was OK but I just wanted to share this. I wish I had seen a post like this, because I was a lil worried. Thanks for the reassurance and Merry Christmas!

A few had that issue.
You're not a first.
Yeah, mine did it, too. After it was stuck there for like 25 - 30, I just rebooted. Don't know what happened, to cause it stick, but it worked, so I didn't think to investigate further.

Why no body mentioned that you must pay $25 for Sunshine. I just lost time for downloading and installing it. Thanks

If you use the method described in the thread DON'T flash the SuperSu zip mentioned until you delete Kingoroot s 'superuser'.
I did this and bricked my phone for about 10 days until I could manage to keep the system running long enough to get rid of all the KingCrap from it.
Better yet NEVER USE KINGOROOT FOR ANYTHING EXCEPT AS A LAST RESORT
I've spent many hours fixing the damage it can do to a system.
Recommendation?

Hi, Steven
As a new forum user, what do you recommend to use to root my phone instead? I have just done this and am having a terrible time with it! I can't move any of the bloatware or anything yet.
Thanks in advance,

Did you replace the Kinguser (it might be called something a bit different like Superuser) with SuperSu or another SU? That is the first step to get out of the Kingroot trap.

As probably to be expected with this website, yet another complete failure.
Absolutely NOTHING will ever root an N817. Why are people still pushing the obvious lie??
15 attempts. ALL resulted in "root failed".
If you do not know what you are talking about, try NOT posting suggestions because they all lead to the exact same non-functional outcome.
Tried literally everything. All steps posted throughout the internet. NONE of them actually function as advertised.
I am sick of the lies. It is clear that no one on this site actually knows what they are talking about.
The "apps" suggested on this site, along with dr.fone, and even the debloater apps are ALL non-functional.
What is it going to take to stop the lies????
Face it. The N817 can not be rooted nor cleaned up. It is the sole intention of ZTE.
When you call ZTE and navigate past their red tape, you find out the truth.
The device will never allow ANY user access over the device.
STOP the lies and remove this entire topic already.
---------- Post added at 06:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:07 PM ----------
Well, you asked for it. NONE of these suggestions, and NONE of the other suggestions this site has offered works in any way what so ever.
"root failed" is the only outcome for everything this site has claimed.
The N817 can NOT be rooted, nor debloated. ALL N817's are blocked. Meaning that there is no possible way to clean up nor root them. ZTE will tell everyone the same if they bother to investigate the claims made by users of this site.
I have tried everything this site has stated numerous times. The only result possible is "root failed" or device not recognized.

Well, some people, like the poster above can't seem to do any critical thinking for themselves. If it doesn't go 'just like the video' heaven forbid they would have to synthesize their own methods.

I also ran 360root but I tried to run Root Checker and System App Safe Remover and neither worked. Root Checker didn't even pull up the prompt, yet SASR brought the prompt up but still wouldn't remove system apps. Any thoughts from anyone? When I ran kingoroot it brought the menu up at 70% and restarted and nothing changed. I'd like to remove the bloatware not just disable it.
I have searched countless forums and have tried kingroot, kingoroot, 360, the PC version of kingo, I have tried adb root exploits. I have tried fastboot (I have never been able to type "fastboot devices" and receive recognition) I have downloaded Qualcomm drivers, adb drivers, zte drivers. I have used the software for flashing zte devices which failed when I tried to flash. I have enabled developer options and ticked OEM unlocking and USB debugging. The device I am referencing is the ZTE sapphire from qlink. MODEL# Z3001S. If anyone knows a method I'm all ears and would greatly appreciate some help here
Ive got root before on this device. Helped me girlfriends mom out.
Well today I decided to unlock my bootloader using the service from ministry of solutions. Ultimately I only wanted to do it to enjoy some root apps, in particular viper4android.
Well....things got a bit hairy! Unlocking bootloader. No issue. Installing twrp. No issue. Installing magisk. No issue. Then came the troubles.
Flashed viper4android. Worked fine. Rebooted and got to install driver notice. Tried and simply didn't work, even with SELinux enabled. So figured I go try a tried and tested audio mod....Dolby Atmos. Went and flashed the zip. Omg.
Bootloop.
Crap.
Tried to use a Dolby uninstaller. No dice. Tried a number of things. Nothing. Round and round I went! Tried downloading stock firmware but twrp wouldn't flash due to me having fingerprint security enabled. Got home and somehow managed to get erecovery to work. Hooked into WiFi and after a while it managed to download and restore my phone!!! Few hours later and I'm back. Ok I have lost photos and messages, but the main thing is it hasn't crapped out on me!
Yes I was dumb and didn't take a twrp backup first, but I really didn't think Dolby would screw everything up so badly!
Anyway, just wanted to share. Oh, and if anyone has some tips on good root equalizers please give me a shout!

Hi to everyone
Today finally I bought my new mi 9t pro and I would like to ask should I update to android 10?
Is it better to update and factory reset for clean Installation before setup my phone for first time?
Does worth to update on mini 11 on mi 9 t pro?
I would do the upgrade.
I updated without wipe and everything was fine. Then i noticed poorer battery performance, so i did a reset, but nothin' changed. Then i debloated tons of xiaomi bloatware and improvement is crazy so: yes, update, if you want you can wipe, I don't think it's necessary, and after, but most important, debloat every useless spam they put into your phone
No harm in running factory reset on the phone as far as I'm aware. It just clears the /data partition. You'll lose your files as far as I'm aware.
However -
If you're using MiFlash (on Windows) then it's a different story - not sure if it's still available but "factory" is sometimes an option in MiFlash and it's not meant for end-users. If I remember correctly it bricks devices. "Clean all" and "clean all + lock" are the ones meant for end-users and essentially put the phone in a "brand new in box" state. "Clean all" is the one to go for if you're unlocked; there's no merit in relocking the bootloader (except for Widevine, RMAs and selling the device on) and if you're running unlocked it can get you out of some sticky situations that'd otherwise require testpoint (opening the phone up, spending money on a soft repair). Relocking can also brick if you're not on the correct region ROM for your phone.
If that doesn't make sense then it probably doesn't apply. But just thought I'd add it just in case.

I already answered to this question in the "screen on time" thread, real life review section, last Page. Check it there. As already said, everything shown is safe, but if you need some of that apps maybe you use, you can leave them. However the apk remain in the memory, so you can reinstall back whatever you want any moment, be free to try without risk

Thank you mate, I will give it a try. I was a little bit concerned about debloating, I don't want to make a mess with it, my concerns come with the possible situation of updating to another MIUI/Android version (I'm still on Android 10), I don't want to brick my phone or something like that.

Hi all,
I'm hoping someone here can give me advice on how (or if!) I can recover from a bootloop after a failed Magisk update attempt, without losing the data on my tablet...
My Tab S8 was boot-looping constantly after I tried a Magisk update; trying the plugged-in-volume-up+volume-down trick from this thread gives me the screen with options for Continue, Device Unlock Mode, or Cancel. Before I go any further, I really want to make sure I don't do something that will accidentally wipe all my data!
I'm a long-time Android user and generally just competent enough to follow instructions (like the incredibly helpful howto guide in this forum!) and root my various phones and tablets, but tbh I don't have a full understanding of the various modes and what does / doesn't wipe the data on the device. I have a handful of documents on it that I would really like not to lose, so I don't want to screw this up by choosing options I don't fully understand... Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
(Or if someone with actual clue is willing to jump on a web meeting and help me recover it without losing data, I'll gladly compensate you for your time...)
Thank you in advance,
Lisa
Have you tried the Root How-To's instructions to update your firmware without wiping, only using the same version of the firmware your were on already?
Apologies if you already tried that.

Thank you! I looked at that, but haven't tried it yet - my concern is that I don't know why the Magisk update failed, so I don't know whether trying the Root How-To's update would run into the same problem. The bootloop is incredibly difficult to interrupt - I had to try the volume up + volume down multiple times before getting the timing right.
If that's the best way to proceed, though, I can certainly give it a shot!

I do believe it's the best option since Magisk needs to be updated in the AP file. You likely need to dirty flash to stock first, if possible (not rooted, without wiping), so that you can have a working system to use the Magisk app to manually patch the AP file, copy the AP file back to the computer as the instructions say, then flash again.

THANK YOU for your advice here! I was just able to restore it to the original firmware simply by following the Root How-To's update-without-wiping instructions. Currently debating whether I really want to update it and risk further problems, or just stick with the working firmware... But either way, I was able to recover the documents I need and it's great to have the tablet working again. I really appreciate your help!
Be well,

You're welcome, glad that helped! I know I was nervous the first time I updated Magisk, but I did it at the same time I updated the firmware. That is, I would've had to update the Magisk app first, so that I could apply that updated Magisk to the new AP file.
