Does anyone have a list or a link to a list that we can refer to for removing/cleaning bloatware that comes with stock Sprint LG G4?
I've tried bloatware tool but that doesn't remove anything, it simply hides it so its not visible.
Thanks!

Seconded, we should have a community list of apps that are safe to remove from the Sprint version of the G4 without breaking anything vital, now that we have root. OP if you haven't, I'd suggest you go and root your sprint G4.

It was rooted within 10 minutes of public release I am on the fence about debloating tool until someone compiles a proper list.

Debloating tool is obsolete if you have root because you can directly freeze or even uninstall unwanted apps with root apps like Titanium Backup. There was a list floating around somewhere of apps to use the debloating tool on, but now that we have root I'd rather see someone compile a list of apps or apks safe to completely uninstall.
Running list of apps safe to remove.

It isn't much yet since I'm trying to be safe about it, but I started a list here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...itial-list-removable-apps-using-root-t3168299
Testing LG apps with freezing and disabling intents so far has either broken something or caused a dramatic impact on battery life. But I have only just begun!

@elsamuraiguapo quick question. I have Titanium used it on my Nexus 5 and I suppose I got spoiled not having bloatware. I'm kind of fuzzy on the freeze option in Titanium since I've never needed it. What does it do? I know you can uninstall apps with it even though I never needed to.
Waiting till tomorrow to root this phone! I can't live without root!

I would personally hold off on rooting the device until we have a KDZ/TOT file to return to stock in case of a soft brick. I have personally bricked 2 devices now trying to freeze/uninstall via titanium backup.
Just a word of waring!

Is this post what your are talking about?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/guide-lg-g4-stock-firmware-to-stock-kdz-t3107848
I've been spoiled so far having a Nexus devices. Had Wug Fresh's Nexus Root Toolkit. Everything was a breeze. So if you'd be as so kind to tell me what KDZ/TOT is. I've see that acronym quite a bit the past couple of days.
Using Titanium I would more likely freeze rather than remove. I don't see how that could soft brick the phone. Mind you I'm no expert so try to understand my ignorance in the matter.
So is this just a matter of the phone being really new and if I just sit on it for a few more months rooting and recover may change?
I just saw that URL you left about the Debloater. I'll have to check that out.

Yes that's the post about KDZ, and Basically KDZ/TOT lets you re-flash your phone back to stock like you just bought the phone from the store.
And evening freezing them may cause an issue, not 100% sure haven't been able to play with it much lol. Because yes the phone is so new, not a lot of development going on.

There is a way. sToRm//'s Sony Xperia XZ Premium TWRP + KERNEL + ROOT + DRM fix/restore is an app that works on our XZ1 compacts. But read the thread carefully before you decide if you want to continue. The app works, I have used it on my phone and everything works perfect, with root. But to get to the point where the app works perfectly is quite difficult. Reading the thread, lots of people have unlocked their phone, broken their camera and now can't get the fix to work.
Personally I wouldn't recomend it.
Edit: Take note that unlocking your phone (required to root) is one way and can NEVER BE UNDONE. You break your phone for forever, you then have to hope that the developer will support you through further firmware upgrades.
Kingroot or any apk?

Kingroot don't do the XZ series and if they did I still wouldn't recomend it. Some Kingroot users have reported that their IMEI number has been cloned.
No apks
No quick easy root
What about xperifix ? see also
Oups, next time I'll put my brain "on" before posting
Has anyone tried xperifix 2.2 / 2.3? Supposedly some XZ1 compact updates were made.
You mentioned "to the point where the app works perfectly is quite difficult", which issues did you have?

Xperiafix 2.2 works and I used it to root my phone. But I'm now on out of date firmware (.75) as OTA stops as soon as you are rooted.
Also, I am sticking with .75 for the moment as it's the last build that Xposed works with and I have some Xposed modules that I am fond of.
The issues I had with the software were to do with getting the right drivers installed, particularly the USB drivers needed when you plug the phone in with TWRP running. Windows chooses the wrong drivers by default and you have to manually assign them or it’ll never work.
The software itself works, but ignore the progress meter built in. There are lots of posts on the Xperiafix thread of how to, so I’d say just read up first and you should be fine.
Xperiafix 2.3 is now the only option if you want up to date firmware on your phone, but it’s €20 and several users have had problems getting it to work, I’m sure the Dev will fix it soon.
So just be aware that if you buy into Xperiafix, you are dependent on the Dev for the rest of the life of your phone and forced to pay whatever he charges for the Xperiafix program

I tried the 2.3 Update (https://forum.xda-developers.com/xp...xperifix-47-1-12-145-aka-april-patch-t3777185 last entry).
I had some trouble with it, because I needed several tries and everytime I had to force close XperiFix.exe, adb.exe and fastboot.exe.
The Problem for me was, the downloaded Temp TWRP for XZ1C doesn't worked with the XperiFIX process.
If I used the downloaded temp TWRP it didn't happened nothing inside twrp.
So I had the installer from XperiFix 2.2 and extracted the Temp TWRP which I knew it would work.
I tried different ways to download the extracted TWRP into the XperiFIX.exe 2.3.
At first I got the MiniWeb HTTP Server, copied my TWRP Files into it and started the miniweb Server.
Then I Created the correct URL for me and I could download my twrp into XperiFix after I edited the devsettings.xpf file.
With my modified TWRP the installation of XperiFIX inside TWRP worked, and now I have the new magisk and XperiFIX working.
I uploaded my Files for you to get XperiFix working on XZ1C (G8441) .145 firmware.
Download it:
https://www115.zippyshare.com/v/Guov8WiU/file.html
Extract it into C:\XperIFix, Overwrite DATA/devsettings.xpf.
Start "C:\XperiFIX\miniweb\miniweb.exe"
Accept the Firewall Rule.
Start XperiFix.exe
Shutdown your Phone.
Plug in your PC and hold Volume UP to get into bootloader.
Set the Hook in XperIFIX and click on "Fix my Device".
And after 2 Minutes you have XperiFIX and magisk 16.3 working on your XZ1C (G8441) .145 FW.
At last close XperiFIx and miniweb.exe
Best regards.
Raz0Rfail
I tried Xperifix 2.4 and still have .NET error. I contacted the developer but so far no solution.

Hey man,
I lost my phone last week and finally bought XZ1c. XDA is not allowed at work and i am having trouble doing research and going through the threads to understand what all to do. Since I am not getting time to do research but i want to be able to start using the phone for now, do you think it is easy/worth it to root? from what you wrote it seems difficult and not a good idea for now but our goals are same because i want it solely to be able to run xposed. I had been using moto phones for the last 7 years now, so i know how bootloaders/rooting/flashing etc works. But i am completely new to the sony world so i was wondering on what is the downside (or what i lose) of me trying to go through a lot of trouble to get xposed working, and how much time will it take me overall to get there.
Any help is appreciated, I know it sounds like a lazy man asking for a hand holding, but apologize in advance!!

I forgot to mention that I am already going to flash the .145 UK firmware today to get fingerprint on my US phone (to be used in India). I got a link from reddit where that guy has done a lot of times so i am going to trust him on it and follow his steps.

Not much has changed since I first wrote on this thread to be honest.
It depends on what you do with your phone to say if you need to root it or not. In the past you needed to root it to kill the battery hungry apps, but that's long gone these days. The other reason for rooting was customising your phone, but you can do that without root. So to be honest, if I were to come down on one side or the other I'd say don't bother. You also need to check that you can unlock your bootloader, as some phones bought from a provider are locked and this can't be circumnavigated. (type *#*#7378423#*#* in your phone to get the service menu and then service info/configuration)
Sony have given developers the finger with this bootloader, unlocking breaks the phone, you lose your TA keys, no way to back up and lots of functions stop working, like the, err, camera.
The good news is that there's a DRM fix out there, one that will work with the latest .145. There's no loss of quality on the camera, everything is as stock.
The bad news is that the developer sToRm// has put his DRM fix app to be paid for. This app works and as long as you have the right drivers is relatively easy.
There are a couple of people who have posted a free DRM fix for XZ Premium, but as yet, there's no one has posted a free fix that works with the .145 firmware for the XZ1 compact, although there might be some tips on the previous page, you'll still need a copy of Xperiafix
There are a couple of roms that have the DRM fix built in that are good daily drivers. Check out ResurrectionRemixOreo or LineageOS 15.1 UNOFFICIAL.

Yeah, for me rooting is so that i can use xposed, i have a couple of modules that i need almost daily. (used to :'( )
Thanks for the info, i think this is what i get -
1. I can just stay stock (and flash the UK .145 firmware and get fingerprint)
2. I can use xperifix, pay that guy and get root and xposed along with a good drm fix. Down side is that i will not have any OTA or anything like that and will have to stay on .145 itself as long as i want to keep this option.
3. I can go all the way custom with DRM fix and not use stock sony at all and directly start using custom roms where everything will work (i am assuming camera and fingerprint will work as well there).
Well, i've used RR before so i would very much like the option 3. I have always felt restricted in stock in any phone i've used, i have been so used to custom roms i like it. But since the phone is new, i do want to see what sony offers. So i think i am good with no ota .145 paid option as i will only have to pay it one time now. And then i am good for at least 3-4 months (post which i will mostly get bored and move to a custom rom). Thoughts?

Xposed won't work with .145, it's a know issue with no workaround as yet.
.75 is the last firmware that Xposed works with.
Edit: sToRm// says that paying for Xperiafix will mean that it will stay up to date with any future firmware releases, so you will be able to go beyond .145, but not until the problems with Xposed are fixed

Bollocks!! I don't think i know how to go back to .75 then. Guess i just have to stay on stock till i get bored or xposed runs on .145 right? or whatever is newer out there. Apparently whenever i want to flash an OTA i still have to flash it in flashmode since i am on custom UK firmware so i think i will anyhow get bored and move onto custom pretty soon :fingers-crossed:
I haven't really been much of an OTA person. I usually keep formatting full phone to put new ROM or new release version every 3-4 months. I like a clean slate, keeps the phone in shape
Btw i did buy Storm's utility in morning so guess i am future proof :silly:
One question - I keep reading "you will lose DRM Keys" I thought it meant that Sony removes/disables/dissolves their own files which are required for apps/apks to run like camera. But is that something phone specific? like specific to me? The way everyone keeps saying you will lose that and you will never get it back - i want to know what it means. Like I cannot get it back for my specific phone? or Sony in General is not going to give it out but it is just a generic key/file. Sorry, just trying to understand what it exactly means. I earlier thought it is like that CID i had to backup for my motorola phone because it was my device ID number or a key file specific for my own personal device which once removed made it generic to flash.

There is a partition on your phone called the TA partition with a set of encrypted keys on it that are unique to your phone. So far no one has worked out how to copy the partition and backup the keys. The keys engage with the DRM software and enable higher function apps, like the camera, X-Reality, etc etc.
Unlocking your phone deletes that partiton, you can't get your keys back, gone forever.
Xperiafix engages with the DRM software and fools it into thinking keys are present, all higher funtion apps work as per usual.
Lots of people who don't understand suggest a loss in quality of the camera, but it doesn't work like that. DRM is broken or fixed, the camera is broken or fixed. Simple.
Edit: Magisk 16.4 is working and that has many modules you can add that are similar to Xposed modules. Just don't try adding Xposed until there is a new build released.

That actually makes sense now. Reminds me of the time when my moto razr was not allowed to unlock bootloader so a hijack was invented and it did so much just like a normal unlock!
yeah, i got bored of the fingerprint scanner in like <24 hours. Guess it is not for me :silly:
I feel like i like I might get bored of sony pretty soon and just get RR. although would you know if people have found a way to keep the 3d creator or sony camera app etc on custom roms? or what exactly do people use as camera app? I feel like other app should still do pretty much same things for taking the photo as hardware is same? Anyhow i will finally get some time over weekend to research all that before taking the plunge. So far only the 3d creator impressed me, camera settings seem pretty same as other phones so probably won't loose much by going custom?
I did not know magisk had modules, that's new. Will research on that over weekend, who knows maybe it will get me what i need :fingers-crossed:
BTW, sorry i am asking more questions, but do you know if i can install 2nd rom? I mean with recovery i should be able to dual boot right? The idea would be to keep primary stock with rooted .145 without xposed to go back to whenever i want to do the 3d stuff and use custom rom as daily driver. Do you know if that is still possible? I do have a spare 64 GB card from my gopro that i can use here to get more space for other stuff.

Apparently Open Camera has lots of good reviews as an alternative to the stock.
Speaking from personal experience, the 'superior auto' isn't all that good, sort of ok if you're in a hurry. But most of the time is doesn't shoot HDR and for some reason a lot of the pictures are 'soft'. So manual is the way to go, HDR on and try and drop the ISO down to 200 and the shutter speed down to 1/15, which is pretty slow, so you might need to rest it on something. Sounds daft saying a mobile phone camera works best if you tripod it, but there we are. Turn of the object tracking and shoot in native 19Mp, edit it to letterbox later if you want that shaped picture, but at least shoot one to one pixel ratio.
No 2nd rom boot option for Oreo TWRP as far as I'm aware. I'm not even sure you can do a successful restore from TWRP, maybe the data partition, but you can't restore a build, there's something to do with encryption that gets in the way. I'm not an expert, maybe ask on the TWRP thread. So TWRP is really just a way of flashing stuff, I don't think you can use it for backup/restore, but I'd love someone to correct me on that.

Finally weekend is here!!
I agree on the camera thing you are saying although I don't get what shaped photos mean. I haven't used letter box.
You brought up backup restore, you thought I am talking about switching ROMs using backup restore ?? Yeah I don't think I will) go through that much pain if I cannot just dual boot.
I am just thinking j will read up through the threads this weekend and put lineage or rrr based on what I find out
.75

Hello Guys, I would like to confront a problem I encountered during my time with this phone.
I bought it a week ago and I unlocked the bootloader right away and then rooted it via magisk.
The phone UI felt quite laggy since the first time I used it. I come from a Oneplus 3.
All the reviews state that the experience with this phone is snappy, but it is much slower than my (now dead) OP3, so I need to check in to know if it's a placebo effect or if it's true.
Scrolling through nova launcher drawer is slower, pulling up the notification shade often lags a lot, scrolling through reddit stutters.
I'm on the V9.6.10.0.ODIMIFE version.
I tried reinstalling everythin from scratch, by further unlocking the system with "fastboot flashing unlock_critical" and then using Mi Flash Tool to install the rom found in this OTA dump thread.
I tried doing an antutu benchmark that returned a value of 113000, instead of the expected 130000 or so.
I checked some parameters via kernel adiutor and it all seemed in order (frequencies, schedulers and such).
The phone is original (as confirmed by xiaomi's site).
Please tell me this is software related since this is a new device and that it will be solved.
Edit: better english, added some detail.
Flash again everything to stock, don't root...and don't do an restore backup that google will offer you when you first boot your newly fresh phone.
Install and setup everything again manually, and then test your phone for a day.
I think that you messed up something with root, I did the same, and only fresh new install with manual setup and install of apps step by step fixed the problem.

Than you for your answer.
I should have probably mentioned that I chose the option " configure the phone as new", as I always do.
This leaves out the root part. Is it really that taxing? It never occurred to my with my previous phones.
I can try it and do without root for a day, but not much longer.

Just to clarify myself here, I did not meant that root can do something to phone it self, but the user when he is overplaying with the phone, like I did, and some app triggered something and made my phone buggy.
And, I don't use other launchers, I always use the default one that came with the phone itself, because I would always feel that "laggines" with custom launchers.
On Huawei for example, I would try google launcher, but it would lag, so I would get used to default one...
And yeah, here is also super fluid experiance so far with Mi A2.

I just tried flashing again with mi flash tool, I'm not rooted and I'm using the default launcher.
Pulling down the notification shade is still a pain.
I guess that I'll just wait for a working twrp and for custom ROMs.

Go to TWRP and erase dalvik, and try another source of stock ROM download, maybe something is wrong with that.
And flash all via fastboot like this

Questions belong in the 'Questions' section.
In your position i wouldn't do anything less than a run through of the unbrick tools. To my mind that's about as clean a reset of your software as you can get. Even then a stubborn virus might still linger. Have you tried any of the virus scan apps from the store yet?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.malwarebytes.antimalware
---------- Post added at 12:30 ---------- Previous post was at 12:10 ----------
Unbrick guides:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/how-to/unbrick-unbrick-tutorial-oneplus-3t-t3515306
https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/guide-oneplus-3-3t-unbrick.531047/
If you're not at all confident in being able to follow those guides, or if no apps from the Store are any help, you should send your phone to Oneplus, or have a friend run through the guide for you.
Question:
When you did the Factory Reset, did you boot into the OS without signing into your account and without restoring apps to check if the .zip was gone? Because if you do have malware it's most likely from an App you installed. Restoring the same app, or restoring a backup that has the malware would obviously reinfect you, even after a Factory Reset.
Try the reset and once done boot into Android, skipping all setup steps. Don't restore anything. Is the problem still there? If not, don't restore anything that isn't from the Play Store.
The name of that .zip sounds like you might have tried installing some custom voice pack for Turn-by-Turn navigation? Don't install random .apk files from unreliable sources!
There is no virus for Android and there is no way that anything harmful would survive after a factory reset.
Something else is happening and probably the OP has some other problem with his device.

People use the terms virus and malware interchangeably. Being a pedant about what term he uses isn't helpful at all. While it may not be a 'virus', Android can easily be host to any number of malware problems.

While i mostly agree, a Factory Reset leaves the /system partition intact. Malware could theoretically replace system binaries with malicious versions. I'm sure malware like 'DroidDream' were more than capable of surviving simple resets.

Could be, but I have no reason to doubt his claim. Sounds to me to be a simple case of sideloading a dodgy .apk. If the .zip mentioned in the OP is surviving a Factory Reset, it could be one of two things. Either some nasty malware or something that is being restored after the reset. Either sideloaded by the same .apk or restored via a backup method like TiBU.
As i mentioned above, he should reset and check before restoring anything.
I've seen adware recently that was displaying Ads in a users Dialer, generated by an infected Play Store app. They had to reinstall apps one at a time to discover which app had the malware.
Thanks Dirk
thanks for your answer the first question I have is why the unbrick tools
the second is I download the antivirus from the Play Store application runn the antivirus program to the system and did not detect any virus or anything It says my phone is clean
The third I did the Factory reset I even created a new email account and I did a clean installation I did not backup any application I downloaded them again from the Play Store I have never downloaded applications outside the Play Store what has happened is that after the factor and reset the first two days the phone is working the third day be using it starts to fail the applications that always installed on Facebook WhatsApp Google translator and others I can make a list If you want but everything has been from the Play Store and are applications downloaded by thousands of people
fourth and if I can not download anything from Play Store Then what I can do to download applications where you recommended to download the application I will do the Factory reset and follow the steps mentioned and not install anything from Play Store I'll let you know what happens
fifth I'll be more aware to see what is installed
sixth You think a headphone wireless can install a virus or malware or something like that I remember that something weird happened when I plug my headphones and by mistake I accept something that I'm not sure why was

I mentioned before that the .zip you named before sounded like a custom voice pack for turn-by-turn navigation. When i Googled it there were similar sounding .zips on a few fileshare sites. I assume these are malware. Now you get problems with "some kind of voice permission". You can see how these things might be related, yes?
Do you use navigation? What App do you use? Have you installed any custom voice packs?
I don't know what you mean by "the archive". Do you mean Internal Storage? Can you upload a screenshot?
My guess is that one of the apps you keep installing is bad. Malware or just bad coding, it doesn't matter. You should factory reset and only install Google Apps for now. Don't install anything else. That means during the setup process on the clean install, when you sign in and sync your account you don't want to automatically restore your Apps. Install only Google Apps from Play Store after setup and run the phone like that for a while to see if it fixes the problem.
To rule out a bad OTA/Install of OOS 5.0.6, follow these instructions to reflash the ROM:

It is not malware or a "virus", it required by Google Maps for voice navigation.
Had you open the archive and inspected its contents, or performed a simple Google Search, you'd know exactly what it was for.

And your question is irrelevant. I answered to your post about why people join XDA. U make wrong assumptions, which is not necessarily bad. It's worse that you try to convince about your arguments by posting incorrect info.

I had been looking for a new phone for awhile. Settled on a Note 9 because I wanted to try using the S Pen for work and dislike the Note 10 design. However, they are still sold at full price where I live, so I bought one secondhand. Everything seems generally fine with it, minus some freezing or weird reactions when it charges for awhile or restarts. But I have been skeptical of throwing passwords (personal and for work) on it to this point. Thats because I read an article about potential root level or firmware level spyware that remains after a reset.
I did a reset AND even took it to an official service center to flash new firmware (but they said they cannot do it there, but they did some kind of more advanced reset?). I checked my Knox counter in the Download menu and it reads 0x00000, maybe more or less zeros. Samsung pass, pay, health, and secure folder all seem to work (I can register for them, use the bio sensor). That all sounds like it has not been tampered with in any way, correct?
Thanks for the help.

If you are worried about remaining spyware of files, download the latest rom from sammobile and then flash with odin.
Just simply search how to use sammobile or how to use odin if you need help. Hundreds of years have posted how good and answered those questions already
I used to flip phones up until a couple years ago. I've bought and sold hundreds, maybe thousands of used phones, most of which had my accounts on them at one point and time. I think as long as the phone is running official firmware, isn't bootloader unlocked/rooted, and you've reset it, it should be fine. Of course you run the risk that someone has hacked it, installed spyware at the system level, and somehow overwritten the status to show as official such that the spyware persists even after a reset, but that's highly unlikely.

Thanks for the idea. I considered this but would like to avoid just because sammobile is unofficial, so it would still leave me slightly apprehensive even if everyone is using it.
Everything I read seems to suggest that the phone was never rooted if all of the Samsung apps work and the Download KNOX counter is 0x0. Just wanting to confirm by someone more knowledgeable about this.

Of course you run the risk that someone has hacked it, installed spyware at the system level, and somehow overwritten the status to show as official such that the spyware persists even after a reset, but that's highly unlikely.

Thanks. I don't think it has ever been unlocked or rooted, but is there a guaranteed way to know?

Thanks for the idea. I considered this but would like to avoid just because sammobile is unofficial, so it would still leave me slightly apprehensive even if everyone is using it.
Everything I read seems to suggest that the phone was never rooted if all of the Samsung apps work and the Download KNOX counter is 0x0. Just wanting to confirm by someone more knowledgeable about this.

Go to settings > about phone > status and it should say "official". That would tell you if the phones operating system has been modified (rooted). As far as checking for bootloader unlock, I'm not sure on Samsung's but on a Google Pixel once the bootloader is unlocked it'll show an unlocked lock on the bootscreen every time that you reboot the phone. North American snapdragon variants of Note 9's do not have an unlockable bootloader so if your phone is a carrier branded phone, the bootloader can't be unlocked. You can Google your model # to figure out which one you have.
You can also check that all functions work properly. Typically apps like Samsung Pay won't work if the phone is rooted. There are ways around that where you can trick the phone into thinking it's not rooted to get those apps to work so, again, that's not a full proof way to check. For example, I'm using an AT&T variant that's been sim unlocked and flashed with Verizon firmware and it works 100% like a Verizon phone.
I'd say, reboot the phone. If you don't see an unlocked icon it's probably not unlocked. Go into settings and take note of your model #
Then go online and research about Odin and flashing official firmware via your computer. Download the latest official firmware for your phone, flash it using Odin, and then you'll know that there's no spyware on your phone. That would essentially be the equivalent of wiping a computer and reinstalling Windows.

yeah.. i whouldint fall for that system/status official crap. as you can see in the screenshot i posted from my rooted n960n.
the only real way is to check if knox is tripped is in DL mode( turn phone off. hold bixby and vol down button while inserting a usb cable hooked to a computer.).
also flashing a stock firmware on an FRP locked phone wont do **** if someone has had their accounts logged in/registered on it and have not reset it correctly.
surprised you dont know this.

FYI - This phone does have an unlockable bootloader.
I'd recommend using Bobby's advice and flash the latest firmware with Odin. If the phone is not already on the latest update, you could flash one firmware less than current and then let the phone download and install an OTA to the current version. You'll know that its official if the phone successfully downloads and installs the OTA.

Not sure why you're trying to call me out when I clearly said there are ways for it show official if it's rooted. Also, no one said anything about FRP. If the phone was FRP locked they wouldn't be able to use it at all... Unless you know how to remove an FRP lock, which I do. At that point the phone would work/be a normal phone.

point taken on the FRP lock but the real point I was making is that the system status is bogus:

You obviously didn't read the entire comment:
"There are ways around that where you can trick the phone into thinking it's not rooted to get those apps to work so, again, that's not a full proof way to check."
Or this comment:
" I used to flip phones up until a couple years ago. I've bought and sold hundreds, maybe thousands of used phones, most of which had my accounts on them at one point and time. There are a lot of ways to check. I pointed out some of the simpler ways. None of which are truly bullet proof. Hell, back in the day we could reset knox counters so if someone is going to the extreme to install some spyware and they're smart enough to install anything that would persist a factory reset, even checking knox isn't a full proof method.
And your screenshot really doesn't tell me anything. It's possible to have an unlocked bootloader AND official firmware at the same time. The operating system and bootloader are two different things. It's only when you modify the system that you have to hack the status to make it say official.

fine but i mean, why ask a user to validate the state of their device via the worst possible method of them all?
he even already posted in OP that he went to DL mode to check the knox fuse status so would supersede by far the need to check via software/status.
edit
and the photo of my device status was just a way to show how i know device actual status and bootlaoder state aren't linked. especialy when rooted devices can spoof software status but none cane spoof fuse state in DL mode. so not sure why you are trying to convince me of something i just proved. u can say u agree next time.

No actually he didn't. He never said he went to DL mode, he just said the knox counter says 0x0. That can be checked via apps from the phone. If the phone was rooted, it could be manipulated to show 0x0 when it's really not.

Sorry for the confusion. I was referring to the Download mode by hitting the mentioned buttons on restart. The KNOX reads 0x0000. Also, it says OEM Lock: On. Then you are both saying the phone is safe?
Also, when I first got it, it did find an update OTA and installed it.

no confusion on my part. i read and understood you correctly the 1st time around.
at first glance your device looks ok but...
additionally, there are ways to check if the device is off a lease with a ESN check. meaning if someone sold you a device still on contract. some sell contractual phones and after a period of time they will get blacklisted since the contract is never payed off fully. so device would appear to work fine and one day they just stop getting a signal and esn/imei get blacklisted.
side note:
surprised that this was not brought up earlier in the conversation as a factor to watch out for by some "experianced in the field flipping devices" user instead of stating the obvious like device status and the unreliable means to check it. especialy since, said user stated buying and selling hundred and even thousands of phones...!? ESN state would be no. 1 in the check list if things to watch out for.
anyways back to the current case, there are ESN/IMEI check services in the web to see status of device: stolen, still on contract...etc. i cannot provide any suggestion to these services unfortunately. this is something you need to check yourself or ask around.
good luck

Reading this thread I've come to the conclusion that you should sell your rootable and boot unlockable device and buy a locked down USA model.
Thank me later. Least you'll be able to sleep well now.

It's about as safe, in terms of spyware, as you'll ever get from a used phone. I would assume you checked the ESN before buying it but if not, run a check with swappa.com/esn and checkesnfree.com to make sure it's clean. Screenshot the results and save them. Depending on your carrier you can likely run a check on their website and/or call support and ask them as well. As with any unlocked phone, know that you may not get all of the features that a carrier branded phone would have (i.e. I couldn't get WiFi calling working on a Korean S10 on Verizon).
