Hi all. I'm using a TMO S8 running non branded U1 code (Nougat AQL1). I can't find out how to deactivate the Bixby button. All the howtos show going into settings and under general there being an option to disable it, but it's not there for me. I've tried installing all the updates, and then tried uninstalling back to stock but it doesn't show up for me. What am I doing wrong? TIA.

Mine didn't show up until I updated all the Bixby crap thru the Samsung App store and rebooted the phone.

Hey guys, when I go to install an apk file, the "install" button cannot be pressed, but the "cancel" button can. I have used this method several times in the past and it has worked. I recently upgraded to Sense 6 on AT&T. My phone is completely stock (no rooting or unlocking). And yes my unknown sources button is checked. Hope this is a quick fix :/ I read somewhere else that "JuiceDefender" was causing that issue a while back but I use AVG and CM antivirus. So what could be the issue?
Thanks in advance!

I went and found a common app (instagram) from a 3rd party source and it would not let me install it either. ): I know instagram is compatible with my phone and OS.
figured it out

I read about how some apps that messed with the screen brightness may affect the ability to install new apps. I deleted apps until I came across the problem: Echo Lock screen. My package installer is now working again.
Hi!
I just bought a clone Samsung A9 here in Thailand.
The phone is not rooted and when I try to login to Snapchat I get this message "Oh no! Your login temporarily failed, so please try again later. If your login continues to fail, please visit... "
From what I've understood this is often caused by the phone being rooted but thats not the case for me.
Anyone has any ideas how to fix this? Would be much appreciated!

Are you sure the phone is not unlocked somehow. Have you tried running a root checked app? Or for fun just seeing if you can download and install something like SuperSU.
I don't know about phones, but I've purchased a lot of Android boxes from China, for various TV boxes or other little media boxes to hook up to TVs. The boxes do not come with a SuperSU app installed, but by simply downloading one they install without any special steps.

Yeah! I've tried some apps that need root and they don't work. So I guess that it's not rooted! So really don't know how to get around this problem

The last time we got an update I had to say remind me later multiple times...eventually I went to sleep just to wake up and find out my phone was updated without my permission.
Is there a way to stop the software update on a stock device?

You can disable it with BK disabler.
Have you tried This? What services would I need to disable?

Using it now.
Just go to the system tab and disable the blue coloured software update with BK disabler. Done.
Can't find a link to the app.
Is there a way to manually do it through settings?
uncheck Developers Options - Autoupdate system.

Yeah me neither lol. Just disable options through settings -> software update. It might still eventually push updates after a while though. Long-term you can disable Software update with Titanium Backup if rooted, or else use BK Package Disabler as described earlier.
what if you enable them back but when checking for a software update it just says "up to date", i am running the Nov 1st security patch, have had updates disabled since i use Sub overlays and have a custom ui, just tonight i went and u installed everything bcuz i heard there was a security patch out that was needed n order to get Oreo later this month..i know for a fact my phone isnt up to date.
anyone know what is going on??
my provider is AT&T, any help would b appreciated.
btw..i am NOT rooted or running any custom roms.
Just use bk disabler, disable everything related to software updates, this prevents even the forced updates that sometimes samsung or carriers push, when you re enable all, if there is some update, yo will be able to install it
yeah, using the app is no problem..it's when i enable the updates again thru BK my phone is saying its up to date and i know for a fact it is like 4 security patches behind..i have no idea how to fix it.
i enabled all apps including the update ones, uninstalled BK also.

You are just awesome, pretty and simple. Thank you so much.
For those who do not understand you need activate Developers Options (google it)
Then in Developers Option, uncheck Auto Update System.
I have had this checked from the start and still get update notifications?

Hi
I installed a lot of apps and it is very hard to find it on the home screen.
So I normally use the Finder to find the apps for me. However, since upgrade to Pie, It does not work anymore. The installed not show in the result.
I tried to search and find the setting but no luck
Please help.

Still works for me...
Works fine on my N950N after I installed Pie onto it. Try wiping the cache Partition in Recovery Mode.

I use a third party launcher, and I don't have too many apps installed, so I can't relate to your situation. I'm just curious, what exactly is it you wanted us to help with? What are we supposed to do to make it work properly for you again? Let's say it was a feature that Samsung removed, like they did so many others; what were we supposed to do to make your life easier, again?

Thank you for all helpful answer. I will go for a hard reset.
If you are using a Samsung smartphone, you must install all 3 Bixby upgrades in Samsung/Galaxy Store in order to continue using Finder to find apps.

When I go to the Play Store, there are a lot more than three Bixby apps available. Which ones do I have to upgrade?

I've installed another launcher that has a working search. I may downgrade to Oreo, which always worked fine for me.

Check to see if you hid it in the Samsung home launcher. That fixed it for me.
home screen settings > hide apps > remove hidden apps
Hey guys. So I'm wondering if anyone else has had issues with the Swift Installer that was pushed out today, or yesterday? I've read through the help docs, but haven't anything pertaining to my particular problem. The app worked fine on the previous version. After updating it had me go through setup again. On the personalization page it works fine, but I can't get to any other activity in the app it just force closes until I clear data and cache. I've tried reinstalling the themes to no avail. As it only shows two apps on my device. Unless perhaps I was supposed to uninstall all overlays before updating the app? I've seen no mention of that except for ota's n such.
I've got a N950F single sim running oreo. Thanks for any advice ya'll can give. Cause I really don't feel like flashing to stock again rn. Lol appreciate it guys.
Edit. I also tried flashing the recovery zip for pie (couldn't find the one for Oreo, but it did absolutely nothing.) Also I'm rooted with Majisk. I found a module that was added to majisk for swift, but I'm not entire sure what it is for.
Update: Problem wasn't on my end been fixed now.
