Anybody else's SD cards keep going corrupt? - Moto E4 Plus Themes, Apps, and Mods

I have a 64gb Samsung Evo+ SD card, and in the two months I've owned this phone the card has become corrupt - Android recognizes that there is a card, but I cannot read/write to it. I can take the card out and put it in my PC and do a CHKDSK and get the data off of it.
Any idea what causes this? Or is the card shot?

I have exact same card and haven't run into this issue.

I had issues with my SD card on the regular E4 (Non Plus Variant), popped it into the E4 Plus and haven't had any issues. It seems Moto has some bad SD readers floating around.

I'm using that same card for a few months. No issues.

Are you using that card as internal storage? That'll burn one out real quickly since they're slower than the actual flash hardware on the device

Nope. I don't see the point in that. I want to be able to take my card out if the phone gets damaged.

I have been having this issue for months now! I am using a E4 perry and it seems like when I torrent and save to the SD card (as portable storage) this happens.

I'm having the same issue with my E4 as well. I noticed that it's only the 64GB cards that don't play well. In all the other E4's I have, using a 32GB card seems to do just fine.

I was using a 32 GB in my plus and it went as did a 4 GB I tried to use until I get another larger.

Still no problems with my 64gb Samsung Evo. Working great.

2GB SD cards?

I have been seeing a lot of 2GB SD cards for sale recently. Does anyone know if they work with the Wallaby line of XDAs, or are the Wallabys maxed out with the 1GB SD cards?
Hmm. I guess no one has tried one yet, and I am afraid I cannot afford to take the risk so will not be trying it myself. Ah well.
Bwah!?!
2Gb! The largest cards I have seen are the 1Gb cards, 2Gb would be very handy if they work.
Hello, I've a 2GB in my XDA1 working quite well. But you should format the card in a CardReader for PC then your XDA can handle the 2GB size. You cannot format the card in your XDA.
Greetings Chris
works well with my xda2...heard that they're already developing (if not released) a 4gb card though...
4 gb cards are out and about,. friend got one for his jasjar - didn't work though (card was faulty - nothing to do with the jasjar!)
when you say "didn't work" does it mean that the machine couldn't access the card? or did it simply not recognize the card or hung trying to access the card? well, that makes me have second thoughts on getting one of them 4-gb cards...

[Q] 32gb micro sd freezes phone once inserted

Its been a week since Ive been desperately searching with no luck!!!!!!!
I just baought a kingston 32gb class 6 micro sdhc but when ever i put it in my hd2 it just freezes up and as soon as I remove the card it works fine again. At first i though that it was a fake so I:
1)performed multiple tests,
2)reformated a 1000 times,
3)even putting 20gb of data just to make sure.
Turns out that it is authentic and it works perfectly on my girlfriend's htc BalckStone it also worked when I installed NAND (which i later removed due to insufficient memory).Ive been searching for weeks, I think its a windows mobile issue, any tips??
HD2 freezing with microsd
I have the exact same problem.
HD2 + 32Gb Kingston micro SD card (bought from ebay)
Freezes on card insertion. Unfreezes when card is removed.
Found any solution?
Do a google search for SD Formatter.
Try reformatting using that program.
Also, when you're reformatting, don't use the phone, use an external card reader or adapter.

If you ahve bought a 32GB SD card from ebay there is a very high probability that you have bought a FAKE 32 gb card.
If it was cheap its 100% a fake card.
These fake card are actually 1/2/4/8/16GB card but have been modded to report 32GB, some of them you can use but data will get corrupted as soon as you get near the real capacity. Some will just not work from the offset.
Stick your card into your pc via reader/adapter and run it through a drive scanning software and see if its got any bad sectors you will soon know if its fake or not.
The same issue with my 16gb microsdhc. On my friends Samsung Galaxy S it works, on microsd carder it works. But not on my HD2.
I had scanned my microsd with few scanners all of them shown that my SD is in perfect condition.
What about formating? What program should I use? And what formating options should be(file system and etc.)

Fat32, 32KB Cluster, Quick is fine usually but do a normal format to test your card
I red somewhere says that HD2 are compatible with 32GB SDHC class 2 only..
Same problem here…..
Is there any hot fix for the HTC HD2 to solve this problem?
The card is Kingston 32g class 4.

This is an issue that has yet to be solved, unfortunately I cant get any real answer even after searching for weeks. My only solution now is just to buy a 16gb and use the 32gb for some other occasion.

Oh, yes it is. At least mostly true, if not even absolutely true.
I've been using a class 2 32 GB Sandisk micro SDHC card for a year now on my HD, and it will go into my Leo as soon as I get it. Absolutely no problem at all, of course.
It's also the one to use on the HD7 to get the maximum available storage memory.
It was quite expensive when I bought it, but it never bothered me, neither did the Sandisk Compact Flash cards I'm using with my goo old Canon EOS 350D camera.
Some Kingston memory card seem to have compatibility issues with some devices (I'm thinking about EeePCs, too, as it's a very frequently reported problem), but it may be essentially related to higher speeds, as those cards drain too much current. The symptoms are exactly the same : the device will sometimes boot when mains powered, but will crash as soon as you disconnect the mains plug, and won't boot at all from battery power.
The HD2 (and HD7, as it's exactly the same hardware) is known for not loving too much current consuming memory cards, so you'd be wise to stick to class 2 only, as it's supposed to be what HTC recommends.
If you still want to use class 4 or 6 cards... Then don't complain if it doesn't work.
And no, it is not "absolutely true". While the HD2 may not r/w any faster no matter the card, any class will work just fine.

Easy. I always first format my cards using a card adapter and a windows machine.
I know for a fact that class 6 microsdhc 32GBs work. It's what I have in my phone now. I also use a 32gb class 2.
I'm using a Kingston card. I've formatted, the computer sees a mass storage device with 30.2 gb available. However it locks the phone up in the boot sequence. Any Ideas?

What program did you use to format it?
One recommended app, outside of the built-in windows app, is SD Formatter:
http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3/
(Link leads to the SD Association, of which I have no affiliation.)
If you have a card adapter, format it there instead of while inside the phone. Good luck
You suggestion is right.
Correctly formatting the card first generally solves most of the problems.
However, most high class micro SDHC cards will probably drain too much current from the phone. You have to find a really serious brand, and a really good one.
I've tried the posted formatting tool. Is there a setting or something I'm missing? After an hour of formatting, nothing, same problem.
I put the card in a 3 year old blackberry curve I had before the HD2, and no problem. I then put an 8gb class 6 card I had in that same blackberry into my HD2 and it worked fine.
I'm trying not to have to return this card because I don't want to wait another week and a half for back shipping etc.. Please give me some hope

32 gb memory card?

I'm having issues with my tab not recognizing files from the sd card, Ill put media or videos on the card and they will be deleted whenever I transfer the card to my tab or disengage usb mode. It occurs when using oldmacnuts better than life rom or cm7. I thought 32gb cards were compatible with the tab, am I wrong?

Might be an issue with the card there are a LOT of 'hacked' memory cards out there. A 2gb card is firmware hacked to read as a 32gb card by PC/Laptop/Tablet, then a three is printed on the card before the 2gb to look like a 32gb card. Try formatting the card and only put a few files on it (less than 2gb) and try it to find out if the same problems occur. If the card works fine then its probably a hacked 2gb card, with the hacked card it does appear as if more than 2gb files are on it but on trying to play the files (once you go over the 2gb) the card throws up different errors and will not play the file or files.
I have a 32gb Adata class 10 card that works perfectly in my Tab. Stock, Better than Life, and now CM7, all read it just fine. Sounds like you might have a bad card like ericbt32 mentioned.. depending on where you bought it you might have been scammed.
Wally world. I'm returning it, try a different brand

For those who wonder if their card is fake or not, try the card in HDTUNE. Look at the attached pic , it's fake microSD 32GB, the curve shows the true capacity (here 2GB) ,then jump and display a perfectly straight line.

[Q] Samsung Focus S Microsd card

There are conflicting reports on whether the Samsung Focus s SGH i937 has an internal micrsd card slot or not, I'm thinking about buying one but I need more storage then 16 gigs and I would like to upgrade to 32 gigs.
No. There is no card slot in Samsung Focus S.

Check out the line below the first pic on the page.
I Called Samsung today and they informed me that it has a internal micro sd slot that is not user accessible.

That would be totally insane. I was thinking about getting one as well, but after hearing that, I'm not so sure anymore as I to would want to increase available storage space. Why would they do that?
I believe there is a 32 GB version available. Mine has no expansion slot accessible.
Only available in 16GB. No SD slot. The lack of. Sd are support was brought on by the way WP7 interacts with external memory. Which can hinder the user experience. Bing it for more info

its not insane, its irritating.
the inability of WM7 devices to support external micro sd cards has been known for well over a year now. it has to do with WM7 os reading/writing faster than the cards can handle.
...and considering all the cloud based services available now, why would you need more thatn 16 gigs in your device anyway? really, the only things that need to live on the device would be apps. music, pics, and video can all be accesssed from the cloud. imo.
additional storage space
There are success stories of those who replaced their 16gb card with a 32 gb card and probably only a matter of time before somebody explores the same on this device, but again, why would you with all the cloud services. Success stories, specifically, on the Arrive. There are those that replaced their 16gb internal card with a 32gb card and it's working at least as well. Good luck!

There's alot of evidence out there suggesting NAND is used - not micro sd - that I would personally deem more compelling than a Samsung phone rep's response.
Just Search for "focus s" and "nand"...

Avoid Lexar/PNY 128GB micro SD

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ..._128gb_hi_performance_sdxc_uhs_1_card_60.html
I read the feedback after I purchased it that it's incompatible with LG devices.
It works fine with Samsung Tab Pro and Xperia Z Ultra, but G4 cannot use this memory. It's either not show up or suddenly unmounted.
Let us know if you find a 128GB that your VS986 is happy with.
I use the 64GB version of that exact PNY card in another phone without any issues for several weeks months now., then bought a Samsung 128GB because I needed a larger card.
I am actually using a Lexar 128gb in my h815 no problems at all. Also have a second one in my v500 which works fine too. No unmounting problems at all.

Sony's firmware has a own sd card knowing system. I have used my Xperia Z1 for 2 years, whenever I plug a new sd card it was offering me format it or it was scanning almost 5 minutes.
I suggest you format it first ExFat then format it FAT32 in windows. After you plug in the phone format it in settings- storage-format sdcard.
If your sdcard is not broken or it had not harware problem, above instructions will fix all problems...

Have a question on my SD card in my LG G4. Not having any problems but thought someone here may know. Using a sandisk 64 gig and when looking at in ES file explorer or the stock explorer instead of it showing up as ext sdcard like all my other phones it shows up named 4C5e-5C17.
Any reason for this? Attached a screenshot. It's working fine just not what I am used to seeing.

I know a few people who use 64GB and 128GB microSDs from PNY for some time now. No issues so far. Chances are that some of them were fake. Happens everywhere. I bought a dozen of 32GB and 64GB of Samsung microSDs respectively. Two of the 32GB ones and four of the 64GB ones turned out to be obvious fake and surely enough, didn't work after a few write cycles. Also the colors didn't match, some didn't even had the S/N printed on the back. Wasn't even bough on some weird internet marketplace. I bought the from a legitimate local store in bulk.

Were you able to read the files from the SD card using your PC to save them? Is the phone unable to format the SD card?

1. Try formatting in the phone or another device without microSD adapter.
2. Try a different microSD adapter with PC for formatting and confirm write protect switch is off.
3. If one and two fail, return to seller or RMA to PNY.
Backup up data firstly, of course .

I also tried the PNY 128gbyte sd card (it was on sale). My G4 just spit it out no matter what I tried. Also an older 32 gbyte Kingston one.
What ony seems to be working is a high tier version, like the Sandisk extreme (90 MB/s)
The 128gb PNY works fine in my Note 10.1 2014 though

I'm using a Sandisk 128 GB card with no problems. FYI.
