Samsung SM-N920T Baseband Unknown and no IMEI - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I flashed custom roms as well as some kernels didn't knew what I was doing but kept on doing it. And it ended with baseband unknown error and wanted to check imei number (*#06#) no imei number blank,
serial number is written I don't know if this can help but I really need my device working if is there any one who can help......

You need to use Odin to flash the baseband again, or, if you have TWRP, and you have a back up saved, restore EFS.

Are you saying you tried using Odin to flash the baseband again and it did not work? If you don't mind explain what you were originally doing before the problem occurred.
Were you running a stock, un-rooted ROM?
Did you install TWRP?
Did you remember to perform a backup in TWRP?
Next, did you flash a custom ROM and Kernel?
Let me know what happened and we can get you up and running again.

Okay, since no-one has responded.. I have the sm~n920t with the same problem. I flashed a rom off of here using Odin and I managed to brick my note 5. My phone can't take SD card so I backed up to my internal memory. I never reset internal memory so I'm fine usually. But when I bricked it reset everything. I had a back up on PC but it's down too because of windows
10 black screen of death update. Anywho, I need to fix my note I just got a new SIM and it does nothing, no notifications, no SIM removed, nothing. Flashed stock 6.0 four Odin files. Still nothing. I'm getting frustrated. Any insight? Thanks.

BTW custom rom and kernel installed, yes twrp, cfauto root installed, I'm pretty I've tried every rom for the note 5 on XDA.

You said your note came from repair and it was on download mode. I think it was NOT REPAIRED AT ALL. Country or region has nothing to do with manual flashing. You only need region when using kies to update.

Since I am not able to connect to a network I am lost as to what to try. Any suggestions on where to go from here?

Hi
My stock JB official unrooted rom suddenly went to a bootloop. I looked up online for solutions and flashed an official JB ROM for my phone and Odin failed to flash it. I tried Philz recovery but Odin failed to flash it. I got a yellow triangle which I was able to removie through Odin. Currently my phone is stuck on the splash screen. Recovery doesn't work. Odin fails when I try to reflash with a md5.tar file. Please experts help me with my problem. would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

Just download the your original firmware from sammfirmware and use Odin to flash it and this will overwrite your recovery mode and your Root access
Then how about the yes optus?

Make sure before you install stock firmware that you install "triangle away" and reset you custom firmware counter otherwise they will see you've modded you s3 and the warranty will be void

Did you reboot after it? As the device checks for a custom firmware during boot so reset binary then restore without a reboot inbetween.
It also installs stock kernel if we did not mention that

[Q] Total Failure Installing ANY type of ROM

Originally, I started with just wanting to update the firmware on my phone because I read updating it to a newer version fixes the dreadful "low memory" bug, where the phone constantly thinks it has no internal memory left despite having plenty.
I tried updating the phone with Kies - says unsupported for updates. Tried updating the CSC, still couldn't get updates.
Then I thought, I always wanted to mod the phone but didn't have the time. I sat down to do it today, spent HOURS and HOURS on here following the guides and reading and I can't seem to get anywhere. Any ROM gives me a Status 7 failure when I try flash it and I notice that CWM doesn't boot up (just the default Android one). I can't even seem to get my phone to go into download mode for use Odin and put a new stock rom on it. And yes, I rooted the phone, deleted all the caches and data, tried unrooting it...nothing.
I read that maybe it's because I have a Koodo Samsung Galaxy Ace...and that it has a different ROM that can't be meddled with. I mean, the update software option under the Settings is even greyed out. It's hard for me to even follow the youtube guides when my phone isn't responding like the ones in the videos.
I'm literally going nuts. I've tried everything. Someone please help me.

You aren't able to boot in to downloading mode. So flashing stock via odin isn't possible that easily. You'll have to try Jtag or oneclickunbrick. But before that, are you atleast able to boot into recovery ? What version of cwm are you using ?

I actually managed to get the phone to go into Download mode this morning. I have Odin v. 3 on my computer, and right now I'm trying to flash CWM onto the phone. It keeps saying Setup Connection... for a long time then fails. I reinstalled my drivers... and the computer recognizes my phone.
I installed CMW through the google play app..I had the latest version (6) and tried using 5.2. The phone keeps booting back into Android recovery manager instead, even when I ask it to install a rom through the app.

It says in my phone (behind battery) the phone model is GTS5830D. Is this somehow different from any other GTS5830? People are saying to flash it with 2.3.6 firmware first, but the thing is, I can't flash it with anything. Everything I've tried to flash gives the Status 7 failure message.

Yes... S5830D does differ from S5830. In what way...? It doesn't matter now. Just go to the samsung service center & they'll fix it for you. But play dumb. Don't talk about roms, rooting, etc. Just say that it happened while updating via kies...
I used to have beautiful life before. Now I'm in engineering...!
Yeah, everything is pointing to this being impossible. It's not even a C/M/i model, just D which seems to have nothing behind it.
Guess that's why Koodo phones in Canada are so dirt cheap - some kind of weird, low-end international version of the regular phone. There isn't even updates on Kies for this model. The original ROM is still on the phone, so it works fine...but I know after a short time it will start getting really laggy and get the same 'low memory' message. I was hoping to improve the phone.

I'm with Koodo, have a straight old S5830. Bought it from them at the kiosk in my local mall. Currently running CM9.1 RC4.1 by Wayland_ACE. How were you flashing your stuff before you had issues? Via recovery or Odin?
How did you install CWM? I hope you flashed it from recovery.
DON'T TOUCH ROM MANAGER.
UPDATE: I'm sorry, I do have the GT-S5830D from Koodo. My ROM is for the S5830 though. It works fine.

Lolno. The d,l,m,b are similar because they are just nationality variants. i is an entirely different model. Nothing for the S5830i works with the S5830 properly. There is a reason that it has separate threads from the other variants.

If you want to go back to stock ROM then you will need to download the stock firmware from sammobile and flash with odin.
If you want it completely wiped then it's a good idea to format internal SD card aswell

Hi...noob question...wouldn't formatting internal SD card remove CWM and everything else (JB) as well?
If you want to be 100% sure do the restore in odin first and when running stock rom just go to settings and wipe sd card.. no worrys.

Thanks for your reply...I don't know very much about these android devices so can I ask some more noob questions?
1. Does JB exists on a separate partition so when you do a format, even from your pc, the formatting doesn't affect JB?
2. Would wiping / formatting the sd card get rid of every single file / directory not required by JB (including games directories n files etc)? Because this is what I want...brand spanking clean.

Thanks...I am not intending to return the phone or sell it or send it for repair so I don't need to make use of TriangleAway. I do however just want to have a cleaned phone with the stock rom. I've read that you can format both the internal and external sd cards but I am worried this may kill the CWM and rooted stuff I've performed on the phone. I intend to flash my phone with Pandoriam_v_4.5 and that is all I want on it...I've previously installed games and apps which have created directories on the phone which I do not want. Thanks for all your help in advance

using mobile odin by chain fire more safety for flashing
use cwm same safety way too
use odin in pc more dangerous IF you dont have many good usb connections or samsung driver inside your pc
dont forget backup your efs ,this very important from begining you have s3
There is a function called "Firmware Upgrade And Initialization" in your Samsung KIES if you are using the newest version. It will help you to download the newest firmware from the KIES server. You don't have to boot your device until you are told to start the download mode by the Samsung KIES.

[WARNING] I957 ICS Touchscreen Issues after Odin Flash

This has the potential to become a major issue.
I figured instead of two separate threads, the discussion can be consolidated here.
Existing threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069823
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2071206
This has happened to 3 people so far. I know there are many users who have successfully updated to ICS via Odin, but if more and more people have touchscreen issues I am going to take the thread down.
Some information to provide:
Was KIES used?
Version of Odin used?
What ROM was it being flashed from
What ICS ROM was loaded (course from sammobile or hotfile, etc.)
What Recovery was used?
Also please run a logcat through ADB to see if any errors occur during boot when the touchscreen does not work.
Hopefully someone like dan-htc or nrvate has some knowledge to share as well.
Thanks Orlando for putting this all in one place.
I'm one of the affected users.
Was KIES used? Yes. I used Kies for the initial update which completed successfully. TS worked before, not after.
Version of Odin used? I have tried at least 10 times after the initial Kies update with Odin 1.85. Each time completeing without error but TS still does not work
What ROM was it being flashed from? All I know is that I was on the stock ROM from when I bought the device Dec12 from AT&T. 3.2?
What ICS ROM was loaded (course from sammobile or hotfile, etc.) Sammobile downloads which link to hotfile. I have tried each (there are only 2) at least 5 times
What Recovery was used? I use the stock recovery, nothing non-stock has been done to my device.
Also please run a logcat through ADB to see if any errors occur during boot when the touchscreen does not work. I am not familiar with how to do this but if you post some steps I will do it tonight and post results, no problem.
Ill also add that after it boots up I am able to plug it into my laptop and see it in both Kies and my computer. I can drop files onto the sdcard.
I don't understand how a new Rom can break the touchscreen and reverting back doesn't fix it.

I don't know, but that's exactly what happened. I was using it right up until the point I plugged it into Kies and perfomed the update.
Thanks

it just doesn't make sense to me. it has to be a software issue and not a hardware issue
I'm one of the affected users.
Was KIES used? No. Kies didn't detect my tab initially, Then used Odin; TS worked before, not after.
Version of Odin used? Version 1.85
What ROM was it being flashed from? AT&T Stock 3.2
What ICS ROM was loaded (course from sammobile or hotfile, etc.) Sammobile downloads which link to hotfile. I have tried each (there are only 2) as well as the "Default (XXX)" Carrier. Tried afterwards CM10 and AOKP unofficial but both showed the samsung boot, then a blank black screen with backlight on
What Recovery was used? None for the intial load, then Flash CWM 5.5, TWRP also had no Touch working, then back to stock
Also please run a logcat through ADB to see if any errors occur during boot when the touchscreen does not work. Will do and post back in here later tonight hopefully
My device is still not detcted Via Kies but i can read and write now normally to the SDCard via cable from Windows and Ubuntu
Wamaonline, were you able to successfully flash the roms, cm10, stock, etc., with odin? And you only had auto-reboot and f.reset checked and Rom in PDA?

yes, all was green for flashing Stock. flashed CWM 5.5 using ODIN, then moved files for CM10, AOKP and GAPPS to sdcard, and flashed them using CWM
Even tried a custom kernel from the forums here using CWM.
Finally went back to stock HC Rom, but no updates so far.
And both ROMs didn't really complete a boot !
Custom kernel will only work for hc roms

it may be worth a try to format the entire tablet, and then flashing a rom. that means formatting everything in CWM.
Anyone know what these guys did? Any of them resolve the issue? Not sure if it could be related in anyway.

Interesting, I wonder if it's a cwm issue? Have you tried twrp? Orlandos official ATT ics thread in the development section had a link to it. It's what I use. You'll need to flash it thru odin. Might be worth a try.

it REALLY worries me that even a nandroid backup wont restore the touchscreen. it is almost if flashing causes hardware damage.

adb from my machine is not working when i boot my device normally, can only see it in adb when booted into CWM recovery.
Worth mentioning that the tab doesn't shutdown ! It always keeps rebooting

Maybe try flashing with a newer version of odin. I have been using odin 3.07 successfully without issue since I got this tab. May want to see if flashing with a more recent version actually successfully flashes correctly. If kernel doesnt flash correctly with odin then it could affect the way drivers are handled in all roms following.
