Figure out... A long story!
I bought a vehicle charger for my beloved Xperia X1. Suddenly, the fusible of the charger blowed.
I tried to charge in my original charger AND in PC USB and the phone showed AC indicator. But the battery was still being drained until it finishes.
Checked battery and it was in 3.7v (it should be 4.2v). So, o plugged the USB power straight in battery, to send 5.0v. Charged just a little bit, turned on the phone, then it was dead. Forever.
Ok, I bought a new battery. The stupid seller from MercadoLivre (Brazilian eBay) sent me a BST-40 (3.7v) instead os BST-41 (original 4.2v). Wasn't the same size, but I made the connection. The phone turned on!! Amazing. But, altought It was plugged in wall charger, the battery keeps draining.
I ordered a external charger and a new battery. It takes 15 days to arrive =/.
So, someonde could (PLEASE) use a voltimeter and measure the voltage from PHONE without Battery and PLUGGED in original charger? Mine is telling now 3.325v.
I'm still hoping that nothing happened to my phone...
Recently my X1 cannot be charged with USB cable through wall outlet & even car charger , but able to charge with USB cable through PC.
Anyone do encounter the same problem?
Well that's a strange one - how long was it connected to the wall?
Without getting into the discussion about volts and amps provided, and amps drawn by the phone, any method should charge.
In terms of speed, I would think the wall would charge fastest (see above), and the USB slowest.
Did the phone show on the top bar, the charging icon when attached to the wall? Or after a period of time there was no increment in the % charge showing??
If the battery was down to 0%, you probably wouldn't see an immediate increase in the % charge. The % charge is orientative, especially at both ends of the scale.

I do agree with you. Charging with wall outlet is faster. Therefore, normally I'm charging my X1 with wall outlet, unless in office, will use PC USB.
Top bar never show charging icon, but once I charge it with PC USB, the charging icon show up immediately.
It seems like no power for the USB when connected to the wall outlet. I've tested with battery removed, plugged in USB cable connected to wall outlet, there is no charging illumination light. I cannot power on it.
I tried to recall, it happened after I used a USB charger for my MP3 player. The next day, when I tried to charge with car charger. To my surprise, the USB connection notification showed up (I do remember, while charging with wall outlet or car charger, it will never prompt me for USB connection).
I don't think, it is the ROM issue. Try a few ROM still having the same problem.
From now, I got to live with PC USB :|
X1 Charging problem
I have same problem. I can not charge via both USB-PC and Wall. In order to charge the phone, I have to switch it off and then charge it.
This happened after I used CHEAP car charger from dealexteme.com
Now everytime I want to charge my phone, I have to switch it off.

I'm using the original SE charger!? I would not think the problem with the charger, but my X1 was screwed by the incompatible MP3 USB charger
Yep same with me, not sure why mine started doing that though, I never got used a cheap charger. Maybe its the rom... I am trying a new one now.

it's not caused by the ROM, I'm very sure. I've installed different ROM. The problem still exist.
I am having a similar problem. When the phone completely discharges , i am unable to charge it with any power adapter or even car charger. I have to initially charge the phone using a PC , then after the power is around 15% , then the phone gets charged with a normal adapter.. any suggestions??
same problem. It happends when the battery is completely discharged.
what I do is use a charger w/ low amp rating (.1) and plug it in for at least 10-20min. Give it some time, it will start charging after a while (indicated by the blinking lights). After that, you can turn it on and charge it normally
I had a similar problem twice. Both times I solved it by replacing the charger.
the same happen to me and i have another issue
my xperia doesnt work as usb mass storage!!!
the solution was buying another charger but..the usb mass storage issue still not working as a flash drive!!

It works with Z1 too. Thanks a lot!
I guess something goes wrong with battery controller
i got zapped by the dreaded broken power button.
ive read up on a lot of soln from app/widget/rooting work around to solve the lock/unlocking. these work great.
but
my phone wont charge the battery any more.
this happened the same time the power button stopped.
the charge light is red not orange.
ive tried a plug in charger, car charger, usb, and my desk charger.
the desk charger saves my butt because i have two batteries and i can charge one while the other one is used by the phone.
so my question is:
is this simply a flex cable replacement fix?
ive read lots about the power button problem but i have not seen any accompanying issues with charging that im experiencing.
Sounds like two unrelated problems. If you fix/replace the power button you would probably only fix that and not the charging. You could check where the short is by backtracking from the plug with a multimeter.
Is the device visible with usb plugged in and doesn't charge? If that's the case you probably just have a short in one of the pins. But if not, that would need to be replaced.
hey EK,
thanks for response.
yes USB connectivity works great. and yes it wont charge while plugged in. When the battery lowers to a certain percent like 90% - i assume thats when the phone starts to charge it and when it begins this charge cycle, the battery light is red instead of orange.
ill give the multimeter a shot. i havent looked but wondering if there are any instructions out there for this check?
HH
The battery won't charge if it is plugged in between 90-100% as that can cause batteries to age quickly.

yup, knew that.
an update. both batteries do in fact charge. it just doesn't register as in charging mode for about 5 minutes - weird!
I can live with this. I'll just do a flex cable swap.
thanks
Hello there,
Its a but weird but hey this is something very normal for the 2x I think. When I plug in the phone to the pc, this will identify the phone and all that, but it will not charge. I have tried different USB slot and other PCs but nothing happens. On Power the phone will charge as normal. I have also down a calibration of the battery..
Anyone?
I just had the same thing happen to me. I'm glad I read about your wall charger suggestion . Then I read about another person who pulled their battery out and long pressed the power button to clear any risidual charge, I did that and when I turned back on it had gone from 1% to 5%. This was after useing 'battery calibrator' which deletes that file. I also have battery monitor widget and wonder if it conflicts, I think I entered a random number when it asked me the wall chargers ampage. Who knows it charges from computer again. My mother had a problem similar on her nokia, she let the charge get to low and they had to 'shock' the battery into life.
- actually if you have the mode where the screen stays on then the phone might just consume all the power.
-nope, seems wall charger is super fast and computer is slow, maybe usb just doesnt have as many amps
check your usb cable, cheap china cable have problem with charging
I got another cable, GOLD!, and did more testing, its a slow charge on computer and charge goes down when playing counter-strike. Charge goes up on wall socket when playing CS. The charger says it puts out 1A and im sure that more than what my laptop USB puts out, maybe I'll try it with my desktop.. debug mode did nothing to change the effects.
I have had my m7 for almost two years and a half now. I faced a problem yesterday that my phone charges very slowly when connected to AC power output or PC USB even if i put it on airplane mode, and even discharges when not on airplane mode.
It charges normally only when connected to my charged power bank.
My power bank charges normally with the same cables and chargers.
Any thoughts on this issue would be appreciated. Thanks!

Slow charging on usb port is normal, most usb 2.0 ports only give a maximum of 500 mA and 900 mA for usb 3.0. Is your AC charger the official HTC charger or not? If not, you are maybe using a charger that doesn't deliver the same current output as the original one, or your orignal HTC charger might be defective. I'm not really surprised that the power bank can charge the phone faster but the AC wall charger should definitively be faster than usb and more than enough to charge your phone without having to set it in airplane mode.
You should change a new one
