After updating to Oreo a few weeks ago, my Google Feeds cards stopped loading up- you know the google app with the customized news feeds based on your searches/history/interests. I made sure the feed was on, but no luck. Hard reset didn't fix it....Anything i'm missing so i can turn this back on , or did google kill this feature? It just shows the search bar when i load the app ,and the preferences panel.
Thanks.
Mine loads but not as updated or interesting as before Oreo was installed. Also, selecting more stories just shows same as first page.

Just turn off the Oreo Fake News filter. Google will feed you again.

I really don't like the 7.0 version of Google Maps, so much so that I rooted my phone (HTC One) to install the 6.x version. I use the Navigation app all the time in my car. My problem is that no matter what I do, it keeps getting updated to the 7.x version every few days. I have it detached from the Market with TiBackup Pro, and turned off all Market updates for all apps on the phone. It doesn't matter, in a couple of days I'll jump into my car, hit the Navigation button from the Car menu screen and get "welcome to 7.0!". I can restore it from my backup in about 5 minutes, but who want to do that everytime I get in the car. Any ideas?

Playstore>settings>do not auto update, that's it.
Why did you go into so much trouble. I find 7.0 a major improvement. Anyways, just uncheck the auto update for Maps in the three dot menu

What can I say, but I (and lots of other) have a different opinion. But anyway, I don't see any auto update available. And it has been detached using TiBackup.

when you go in the playstore and you click inside of the Maps application,
if you hit the menu button next to the share button, make sure the "Auto update" box is also unchecked,
not just the one in play store settings. That's how I got my snapchat to stop updating.
Hope that helps!

Nope, when I do that, it goes to the same setttings page as the store, which is already set to 'do not update', nothing specifically for that application. I"m running 4.3, maybe that's different.

I had this issue with another app. The solution was to re-sign the app so that the Play store didn't recognize it. Check out this link and let us know if it works for you:

Good luck!

Ok, this is a weird one. On my Z3c, any shortcuts placed on a home screen using the Chrome browser's "Add to homescreen" feature only work if Chrome is not already running when the shortcut is used.
If Chrome is already loaded and has at least one tab open, tapping the homescreen shortcut only brings Chrome to the foreground, but no new tab is loaded with the web address specified by the shortcut.
Now for the weird part: removing updates for the Chrome app and reverting to the Chrome image shipped by Sony corrects the problem (at the cost of having to disable updates to Chrome in the Play Store to keep the problem from returning).
I've tried installing the Chrome Beta, but its homescreen shortcuts have the same problem.
I was about ready to file a bug report for Chrome, but decided to test my Nexus 5 to make sure I could reproduce the problem and, what do you know, the Nexus 5 doesn't exhibit this behavior.
Seems to be just the Sony running updated images of the Chrome app.
Can anyone else confirm not being able to get a Chrome-created web shortcut to work from the Sony home screens on the latest Play Store versions of Chrome, unless the Chrome app doesn't have any open tabs when the shortcut is tapped?

Did some searching and found other reports on Chromium project of this bug - everyone seems to be using Xperia devices that are reporting it.
https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=412405
Lack of responses here are kind of giving me the impression that either not many people extensively use home screen shortcuts to websites, or not all Z3c users are seeing the problem.

Also having this problem :/
I'm on stock rooted and I'm getting my Google Voice widget showing at the top of my recent apps screen. What is going on? Anyone seen this before? I've done a couple reboots and it's still there. I can always flash something, but just curious what everyone thought.
Try booting into safe mode. Then open recents, then reboot
Sounds like Google Voice invaded your Google Search somehow.
If you flash a custom ROM, you can hide that widget

I'm pretty sure this is on purpose. One of the focus points of 5.0 was better multitasking and I think that's the to help with it because when you click on a link it takes you out of that page

I flashed liquid smooth and it went back to the Google search widget. I couldn't for the life of me get the Google voice widget out of there. Thanks fellas!
The title might be a little misleading, but links are not opening in Chrome custom tabs, but the full browser instead. I have tried on CM and on stock. Meanwhile, just about everything opens in the Chrome tabs on my wife's phone (Galaxy S5), and this includes the news feed in the Google Now app. At first, it would open them intermittently, and now, it completely stopped opening custom tabs.
Did any of you get it to work consistently?

Chrome app provide the necessary stuff to apps to make them open their link into custom tabs
As an exemple the Google search remove this feature from time to time (don't know why in the last update the features is in it)
But It is an option in Google+ app check if it is ticked
In Google news and weather app it is force enabled now
So it's really depending on app i guess our nexus receive more update or maybe you're in the beta build of Google now?
Well...after no, and I mean, NO app updates, Chrome custom tabs are working on my phone from both the search results and the Now cards. Whatever...
And I wasn't referring to custom tabs from apps...I was referring to custom tabs from Google Now itself. Still doesn't make sense to me, but whatever.
Edit: But using the custom tabs for Google searches...it works a lot faster than opening the full app. The loading speeds are awesome!

I don't understand if you want them enable or disable
Anyway go to parameters -> account (the first one) look at the pic now the arrowed one is the switch for this
I wanted them enabled. I checked those settings, and it was enabled. I toggled it off and back on, and they started to work after a few minutes.
Thanks, though. Fixed the problem since my last post.

Here's another way for you to use custom chrome tabs. Just download this app from Google Play : Chromer
It's not a browser app but it forces links to be opened on custom chrome tabs. I'm using it and it works perfectly.
has anyone been experiencing their traffic cards for commute all of a sudden stop appearing? Ive tried going to a nandroid, clearing caches, clearing app data, etc. For whatever reason they will not show anymore. I havent changed anything.
thanks
I've noticed that sometimes none of my cards will appear (weather, news, traffic, etc.) and the only solution I have found is to reboot the device which brings them all back. (N6F26R 7.1.1 Feb. update)
Have you checked the "Customize the Feed" settings page? You should be able to set your work/home locations and select yes/no to getting updates for your commute to work. I noticed that my work location was set to the wrong location yesterday (I didn't change it) so it might be worth checking out those settings even if you haven't changed anything.

It was working as it should for the last month. Had all my locations set, everything enabled, etc. and they just stopped showing up. It use to be if i was anywhere away from my home the page on the right would tell me how far i was from home. that never shows anymore. My work commute would also show on that same page in the morning and that never shows up anymore. i have uninstalled and reinstalled the app. cleared the data, caches, etc. nothing works. maybe google is having problems on their end
My traffic cards are found in the personal part of Google now not in the main page

Don't think it has to do with Assistant.
I like the weather card with 5 days overview.
It changes to a smaller 1 day card.
Clearing all data and a new setup of Google App brings back the 5 days weather card for a day !
