A month ago I moved from Omni 8.1 back to Latest Oxygen OS Open Beta . The first thing I noticed was way faster application installs. Is it really so ? If yes, then what is holding Omni Rom , Nitrogen or other Custom ROMs from implementing the same. Is it because of F2FS ?
Is F2FS still a thing in 2018? I just moved from Oxygen to Omni and I see no difference in app install time. I'm on ext4.
It's all due to the data encryption

Hello Guys! I am receiving my OP3T tomorrow and wanted to know the list of the primary kernels or ROMs which support multiROM. I want to run CM14.1 and OxygenOS in the multiboot configuration and wanted to know the best config in your opinion. Seeing that the CM14.1 has bugs I'm thinking of running OxygenOS as my daily driver and booting CM14.1 as primary ROM (I want O2OS to be as stock as possible and this config would give me stock kernel).
few more questions :
1. Is it possible to run OxygenOS as secondary OS without root in the dualboot config? (I've read that O2OS will re encrypt data? Should I just root it?)
2. Does the default CM kernel suport MultiROM? I've seen people there using MultiROM but have no clue of their configration though)
3. suggested multirom setup in your opinion
TIA
It doesn't matter what ROMs you use as primary for multirom because it works without a patched kernel. The only thing is that some kernels have problems with touch on the multirom boot menu where you select the ROM to boot so you have to set it via TWRP. I know for sure that blu_spark kernel has this fixed, not sure about the others.
Oxygen OS as secondary should be possible but I can't tell you anything about encryption and stuff
Thanks for the reply. My OP3T arrived today and I installed a bunch of ROMS on it using the MultiROM mod. I think the MultiROM zip modded the OxygenOS kernel to support the touchscreen so everything is working fine with OxygenOS as my primary ROM with its default kernel
until now i have no perfect working custom rom....
CM14.1 from 14 Dec has LED issue
CM14.1 ResurrectionRemix from 14 Dec also has the LED notification issue
CM14.1 ResurrectionRemix from 17 Dec stops during flash
CM13 Sultan has display issue when it goes to sleep...
and Oxygen i don't like because there are a lot of settings missing
hope the next days the issues will be solved - until now i'm not allowed to post in the development forum
No offense but CM13 has no issue for me like you described and I've been running it since the day it came out. Works fine with multirom and oxygen also. I used it to compare cameras on CM13 and stock oxygen. Compared pics without moving my hand in both roms and then deleted Oxygen. Cam is equally good or bad in both so CM13 was the obvious choice for me.
Don't know about the others but my phone auto switches off on cm13. My best guess would be the undervolting / underclocking Sultan might have done. Didn't care about reading any log but this bug happened to me long back on other devices when I tried to undervolt. Also the display bug was there too.
BTW IMO it is only a matter of time before OP3 and OP3T get unified builds so I'd say just wait for a few more days for bug free ROMS
As the title says, Can anyone please suggest me a really rock solid ROM? My mom use this device, So i cannot personally experiment much myself. Any Android version will work.
I'm currently using XenonHD but it have some bugs like Force closing of Google now launcher (sometimes), Bluetooth don't work for me, Wifi keeps getting disconnected after sleep, Some apps freeze.
I've also tried RR rom (both official and unofficial) few months back but due to proximity bug, Apps force close (quite often on official one), I've discontinued it.
It would be a great help if anyone could post their review about bugs and performance and battery backup of Daniel_hk's Lineage & Carbon build and Vibe_UI final (Or other versions) or any other rom you use as a daily driver.
Your help will be appreciated.
Thanks.
Go for lineage
If you need the most stable one than i think the lineage os 14.1 .according to my exp the lineage os has got the minimum number of bugs with no major ones. As i too had the same experience with the RR rom when i used to use it i can clearly say that the lineage os 14.1 is much better than RR rom...

Reince have Wifi autoconnect bug and pixelblitz's link is down.
hi i own a mi 4x as a backup device and currently its on PixelExperience (non-treble) ROM. I have to use the device for several days and i would like to flash a Treble ROM. So i dont have alots of time to test various ROMs. So what im asking is kindly point me some most stable Trebelized ROM. i dont mind its weather 8.1 or 9.0. i wanna use a stable ROM.
Thanks
I hope you are referring to Xiaomi Redmi 4X if so then go for DOT OS 2.4 or HAVOC OS both ROM are based on Android 8.1 are much stable and have decent battery life. (haven't tried them with custom kernel but have learned that they give good battery life with it)
Android Pie based ROMs are quite good too but they do have bugs but can be use as for daily use ROM.
I am currently using official HAVOC OS 2.0 based on Android Pie it does have bugs too but they aren't major ones.
Sorry for the off-topic, Oreo Havoc OS is not on XDA, correct? I've searched and couldn't find it, only Pie version. Is this the Oreo version you mean @metelhammer?
https://sourceforge.net/projects/havoc-os/files/santoni/
Yes, this is the official Havoc OS download link.
Havoc 2.0 is based on Android Pie which is -> Havoc-OS-v2.0-20180903-santoni-Official.
All other old zips are based on Android Oreo.
As for now only first zip is Android Pie and all old builds are Oreo ones.
Later they should be named as Havoc OS 2.0.
Everything clear, thank you for your help!
Do you find Havoc 2.0 stable enough for daily use?
Your welcome ?
Yes, it is quite good for daily use certainly it has bugs but they aren't major ones.
Compared to Android Oreo based Havoc OS it has less customization but that's totally fine considering it is first build.
I am using it since when it released.
Battery life is quite decent not that good, I get around 6 hours of SOT and I haven't tried any kernel with it so it might give good battery backup with it.
On mobile data as usual like all other custom ROMs battery life isn't that good.
ROM is smooth though and can be use as daily driver.
Thank you very much for all the info @metelhammer
I've tried Havoc 2.0 last night, but my microphone didn't work, so I went back to Havoc Oreo, everything fine for now.
I think I'll just wait for a stable enough Pie build, can't wait for it though :highfive:
Microphone didn't worked that's strange, it is working fine here.
No problem I am too waiting for future update, cheers!
I have tried most roms on redmi 4x. My recommendation is Lineage 15/14
Hello all.
Im really tired of miui roms and i cant find a descent non miui custom rom for our device. I already tried havoc os gsi but notch is not detected and thats a problem for daily use.
Does anybody know what gsi works fully on our phone?
Resurection arrow octupos or?!
Or atleast a way for havoc os to detect notch?(i already tried the zip that someone posted in mod section but no result)
I think my question is the question of a lot of mi 8 se user.
Hi,
Havoc 2.0 has notch problem but havoc 2.2 is out now. Even its unofficial, you can try and report it here. If you want to wait for official, it will be out after march sevurity patches released.
Unofficial (Gapps inside)

Hi everybody,
So I tried LineageOS, CrDroid (favourite one) and EvolutionX 2.0 and while I liked the experience as a whole, I seems to me that apps launch time on custom ROMs is way slower than MIUI (tested on EvolutionX and CrDroid).
For example Youtube takes 5-6 seconds to open on custom ROM but only 1,5 second on MIUI, and it's the same thing with most other apps.
I always see things such as "lightning fast ROM" or "very fast ROM" in the comments, like no one has noticed that apps are much slower to load.
Hell, even my old Honor 6X does much better than my Note 7 on custom ROM in that regard.
So, is it just me or is that normal because of less optimization ?
I also noticed that the custom rom works slower, that's why I switched to stock miui
Hi, I used Resurrection Remix and did not faced any slowness. Youtube for example took 2-3 seconds to open.

I use pixel experience and youtube opens in 2-3 seconds, but this rom uses more ram than stock, in stock free ram is 800mb / 1gb, pixel experience is 800mb / 600mb. Sometimes it causes slowness.
Prefer stock miui.eu version over other custom roms . I also switched back after trying 2-3 roms to miui.
Weird, in my case the custom ROM (AospExtended no gapps, using MicroG, no custom kernel or firmware update) made everything way less laggy and more snappy in general. Apps open in 1 or 2 seconds all the time, battery life is exactly the same as MIUI, gaming performance is the same as before, I've got like 2GB of free RAM (I used to have around 1.5GB with MIUI) when not gaming and most importantly, 0 bloatware.

Interesting as I'm interested in MicroG/NoGApps [do not have the device (yet)]. Usually I prefer LOS, so if official LOS exists the MicroG builds from download.lineage.microg.org - because of hal1/3 issue on lavender official LOS does not look nearby. So best MicroG ROM options to avoid deodex services.jar seem to be [OFFICIAL][9.0]AospExtended v6.6 or Havoc-OS-2.6-[9.0]-[Official] or [9.0][OFFICIAL]crDroid v5.6[Lavender]?

They should all work nicely, all three of them support signature spoofing.

Smoother than stock miui?
I went back to global MIUI (debloated) since it's the smoothest but I do miss CrDroid though
However RAM was never an issue with both stock and custom Roms, always around 2 GB of free RAM.
I'll give Resurrection Remix a shot someday I think.
When I first set up Pixel Experience, it was considerably slower than miui. Turns out I mistakenly set up my super old 64gb microsd as internal storage. The os installed several apps to the microsd. I had to reimage and set it up as removable storage and all is well.
Miui 11
I think Miui rom is always the best.
Los16 is definitely faster than miui!!!
I have Havoc OS 3.2 Android 10 on my Redmi 5 plus and it is super fast compared to miui 10 or 11. Animations are fluid and the whole system feels like flagship. Miui 11 was a disaster on my phone and many other models.
