Hi everybody,
So I tried LineageOS, CrDroid (favourite one) and EvolutionX 2.0 and while I liked the experience as a whole, I seems to me that apps launch time on custom ROMs is way slower than MIUI (tested on EvolutionX and CrDroid).
For example Youtube takes 5-6 seconds to open on custom ROM but only 1,5 second on MIUI, and it's the same thing with most other apps.
I always see things such as "lightning fast ROM" or "very fast ROM" in the comments, like no one has noticed that apps are much slower to load.
Hell, even my old Honor 6X does much better than my Note 7 on custom ROM in that regard.
So, is it just me or is that normal because of less optimization ?
I also noticed that the custom rom works slower, that's why I switched to stock miui
Hi, I used Resurrection Remix and did not faced any slowness. Youtube for example took 2-3 seconds to open.

Interesting, maybe I'll give Resurrection Remix a try later sometime. Thanks for your reply.

I use pixel experience and youtube opens in 2-3 seconds, but this rom uses more ram than stock, in stock free ram is 800mb / 1gb, pixel experience is 800mb / 600mb. Sometimes it causes slowness.
Prefer stock miui.eu version over other custom roms . I also switched back after trying 2-3 roms to miui.
Weird, in my case the custom ROM (AospExtended no gapps, using MicroG, no custom kernel or firmware update) made everything way less laggy and more snappy in general. Apps open in 1 or 2 seconds all the time, battery life is exactly the same as MIUI, gaming performance is the same as before, I've got like 2GB of free RAM (I used to have around 1.5GB with MIUI) when not gaming and most importantly, 0 bloatware.

Interesting as I'm interested in MicroG/NoGApps [do not have the device (yet)]. Usually I prefer LOS, so if official LOS exists the MicroG builds from download.lineage.microg.org - because of hal1/3 issue on lavender official LOS does not look nearby. So best MicroG ROM options to avoid deodex services.jar seem to be [OFFICIAL][9.0]AospExtended v6.6 or Havoc-OS-2.6-[9.0]-[Official] or [9.0][OFFICIAL]crDroid v5.6[Lavender]?

They should all work nicely, all three of them support signature spoofing.
Using Resurrection Remix and its a lot smoother

Smoother than stock miui?
I went back to global MIUI (debloated) since it's the smoothest but I do miss CrDroid though
However RAM was never an issue with both stock and custom Roms, always around 2 GB of free RAM.
I'll give Resurrection Remix a shot someday I think.
When I first set up Pixel Experience, it was considerably slower than miui. Turns out I mistakenly set up my super old 64gb microsd as internal storage. The os installed several apps to the microsd. I had to reimage and set it up as removable storage and all is well.
Miui 11
I think Miui rom is always the best.
Los16 is definitely faster than miui!!!
I have Havoc OS 3.2 Android 10 on my Redmi 5 plus and it is super fast compared to miui 10 or 11. Animations are fluid and the whole system feels like flagship. Miui 11 was a disaster on my phone and many other models.

EDIT: Sorry, wrong subforum, I meant to post this on the Redmi4x / Santoni subforum.
Greetings, I think this is my first post here (sorry, I'm still practicing my english and this post may have horrible mistakes).
Currently I'm using the latest version of MIUI (9.x I think), but as much as I love this phone I've always been in love with the performance and customization... and this phone has a hell of a bloatware.
I'm aware of the latest Oreo roms and I know recently Xiaomi has released the source code for the santoni phone but still no rom is perfect, specially the Oreo ones, so I'm looking for the closest aosp/stock experience I can get with full compatibility, I think a nougat based rom will do fine but wich one?
I'm planning to install a rom, install greenify, have a good battery life, have more free space and still have full camera, gps and other compatibility with no issues.
Wich rom could you recommend me?
Thanks in advance.

Aex official Oreo or pixel experience
Mi-Globe MIUI based on the latest official or developer release. Can be customised to your needs.
Working beautifully and you can remove all the leftover MI crap with system app remover, free from the store.
None of the 3rd party ROMs have the excellent battery life as MIUI unfortunately.
Google search Loup 14.1 for santoni.
It is by noyer, father of development on santoni.
For some reason he isn't on XDA but his ROM is what you need you can follow him on github and twitter though. He even managed to port Sailfish Os for Santoni. I'm using Loup 14 with clarity kernel and experience is awesome.

correct..i thought to suggest the questioner...but you did before me. by the way, once rooted the Stock ROM? all bloat-wares from google and Mi can be removed...Battery and Phone performance everything is good.
even i tried a some recent official releases of Oreo 8.1 for R4x , first few days everything good, later Battery life tarts in consistency. so, i back to stock but removed all Google and Mi's apps ..only very few mi services still existing on my rom, if i delete them my phone gets locked and i need to do everything from scratch again, so i let them persist... Go for stable miui global 9.2 and keep remove the stock bloatwares.

i have used lineageos 14.1 on my mi 5 before, but it used to stuck sometimes and was not smooth and it used to lag when i try to record videos so i switched back to miui. i am looking for the best rom for mi 5 which dosent lag or hang and the camera, video recording works smoothly.i dont change roms frequently so i want a rom which i can install and use it for a long time without any problems.can anyone please suggest me a rom?
Thanks
I think the best rom is viperOS
Which build of LOS 14.1 you use? I use the latest build and everything is smooth, much smoother than MIUI.
Masik is awesome loving it i have tried alll the oreo and nougout rom but nothing comes close to that rom only cons are some of xposed modules doesnt work but other than that magisk is a total winner
I think you must install AOSP based ROMs. I am using ViperOS 3.1.1 and it is running smooth.
I recommend you to try Omni rom or dirty unicorns rom with gcamera & ruthless pixel launcher for an outstanding experience on Mi5. Both are fast, smooth & battery friendly.
Lineage is also very stable but DU 8.1 has many useful customizations built in.
Hi,
I'm using temporary this phone and can't stand the bad performance (stock ROM, Android 6 etc.).
It takes ages for daily apps to load (messenger, sms app, chrome).
I browsed some ROMs but can't find any info which is stripped down and super fast.
LeneageOS specifically says it's faster, but "faster than official Nougat installations". I assume Nougat requires even more hardware performance than MM.
But is there anything faster than stock ROM?
Thanks!!
Problem solved.
Installed latest Lineage (Oreo) abd the phone is rocket fast. At least compared to stock rom.

Where did you get Oreo Lineage from, unofficial version? https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-lte/orig-development/rom-lineageos-15-0-t3669081
There is no Oreo from the official developers as far as I am aware, still only 14.1: https://download.lineageos.org/thea
My phone has been so slow for over a year, it drives me mad that I barely use it, simple thing as opening an app just freezes up to a minute sometimes, have tried so many things. Been using Lineage since it was CyanogenMod.
Use Lineage for MicroG and replace you normal apps with open source from F-Droid. With them lightweight alternatives, it's the only way you`ll get a smooth experience.
Whats your choice ROM/Kernel/Mod combination for OP7T Pro?
After almost two years, and although we don't have a 100% functional TWRP, we have a good range of ROM's and Kernel available even on Android 11. What do you currently use? What is your favorite ROM and Kernel combination?
Have only had the phone for just under a year. I came from OP3 to a 7T Pro (HD1910) about a year ago and haven't gone into a flashing frenzy yet. Currently running Stock OOS 10.0.14 with Arter Kernel, Magisk and Renovate ICE.
Was running OOS 11.0.0.2 with blu spark. While I did not run into many of the issues that a lot of users have faced (seems concentrated on 7T devices), my two main complaints were battery life (I lost about an hour of SOT on A11 vs A10) and the phone overall felt a little sluggish so I ended up downgrading back to A10 with MSM.
tried many roms but always get back to RR. You can do almost anything with this rom, customisation is insane. Only drawback for me were sound of dolby like on stock oos and natural mode in display settings. this rom is by far most complete and stable othan any other rom I ever used on all my previous phones.

I tried them all but i always return back to OOS. For my daily use i found OOS + Custom kernel is enough
I keep jumping between latest OOS + eng.stk, arter97 or flar2 kernels

Well, I decided to give Custom ROMs a try so I just flashed Pixel Experience. I solely blame you for opening this door (LOL; well, showing me the door). Will report back after I give it a couple of weeks of use.
I just flashed latest DerpFest plus Dora kernel. Working well for now.
For me, the flash process is very time-consuming without a working twrp.
I last tested a few roms 4-5 months ago (RR, crdroid, havoc) but some things never really worked well, for example the vibrations are too strong, the auto brightness doesn't work, sometimes the phone connection dropped for no reason or WhatsApp voice messages sometimes had sound dropouts. I didn't like that at the time and stayed with OOS.
Is there currently a Rom that really runs smoothly? I need the device as a daily driver. I've been itching to flash a new version, but the disappointment that something doesn't work puts me off.
Pixel Experience 11 works great.

Haven't used OOS in a year so can't tell.
Battery life seems decent, but I haven't done a full charge test. And i think my battery had degraded quite a bit from charging a lot.
Went from OOS11 to PE+ back to OOS10 to OOS11 back to PE+ to OOS10 to dotOS back to OOS10 and now back on dotOS. Since my last post.
Gonna stick with dotOS for a bit.
It seems like if you want good battery life, you should stick to Android 10. All custom 11 ROMs and OOS11 for that matter can't compete with A10/OOS10 battery.
i have tried few roms but ended up with rooted/stock
i think its the best
though last time i 'm back to stock 2 days ago (was on los 18.1) then stock 10 using downgrade file 2 times then root
and finally go to oos 11 wiping every thing with clean net install
No battery issue so far no lags no negative things @All
on my opinion STOCK IS THE BEST (ROOTED)

I can't find a custom ROM that is as good as OOS for DT2S, single tap to ambient display, and gesture navigation.
Anyone running any debloats here? If yes, which one(s)?
if anyone wants rock stable custom rom, go for RR! it's a10 of course but none of the a11 custom roms come close in terms of stability and customisation. I running it with nemo v4 kernel and smoothness and battery life are improved even more! I like oos 11 but little bugs like low notification volume are bugging me. I think yaap, dotos, paranoid a11 based are good but have few things to fix like autobrightness, paranoid was smoothest rom I ever seen but camera is causing issues if you want other cam than one that is included in the rom. hope soon we will have more stable and daily driver custom roms...
still on oos 11 and stock kernal. i Dont think rom development is where I want it to be I wouldnt switch again. I think it's at its dieing stages. no updates for stock either yet we pay big money. I am over mobile phones what a rort market
I know this is a lame question. But which one is currently most stable rom for redmi 9 from your experience. I used corvus, nusantara, bliss, evolution x. Fist one/two week everything runs smooth. But then bug starts appearing here and there. Launcher keeps stoping, battery draining, hang etc. Debloated stock rom has very less bug but miui optimization and ram management stops me from loving miui
Pixel : Experience (A10)/Extended
For sure there is none custom rom without bugs, for sure at moment the last miui perform much better as any custom rom here, but with root, ive tested all and the latest miui android 11 is more stable, better battery and butter smooth, cheers!!!!
