Paint chipping after using official oneplus case in the box? - OnePlus 5T Accessories

Is the picture attached paint chipping?(the small dots)

+1 happens the same to me.
I can't take a pick tho, I can't clean it.
Enviado desde mi ONEPLUS A5010 mediante Tapatalk

Yes, it's happening for me too!

Same... looks like original case destroyed back paint for our phone.

I am using a Spigen case since I got the phone and I get the same result.

We can talk about this with OnePlus's support for a replace? We spent a lot of money for this smartphone and is absurd that the original cover damage our 5T

Hi all. I just chatting with support about chipping paint. They agree to repair under guarantee but they will inspect the phone for physical damage such as bumping the phone, dropping the phone, rubbing the phone to any sharp object etc. If they find any damage i will pay for repair.
Update: Support will not repair under guarantee. They say its normal when using case. So this is gonna cost.

When I visited the OP service center in Ahmedabad India for flashing stock rom, they offered me free replacement for the back panel and did not charged anything.

That's good. I have one month left of warranty. Maybe they can replace it for me.

Same here on Red Lava

Guys, they will replace it for free right?
I'm concerned if they reject by saying i used a case and all??

Yeah they'll replace
i got it replaced TWICE... For the same phone without additional costs or warranty... Will advice for putting a wrap on it preserves the beauty and feel too

Yes. I visited oneplus care and after some fight, they replaced it for free. Surprisingly they gifted me a new sandstone original case for all the issues occured

Going to try and get mine replaced but it was not purchased from Oneplus, I noticed this some time ago and it is getting worse

I have fewer than 4-5 "scratches" after having 2-3 different rubber/silicon cases since I bought the phone the day it came out (1 year ago).
since the cases aren't clear, I had not even noticed.

happened to me also and i changed the cover. now its happening to the slider which i rarely use. haha!

Happened to mine as well. I am out of warranty now but will see if they will fix it. At first I thought it was some residue but, it is the same issue as everyone from the case provided in the box.

Did anyone try to get it replaced after the warranty?
I did realise the scratches were getting worse even with use with a case ?

Screen scratched easily

I got my One just last Tuesday. I have been keeping it safe all the time but today while I was sunbathing I fell asleep for just 2 seconds and phone slipped out of my hand and fell from about 15-20cm on pebbles. I was hoping that screen will be fine but I have noticed a small square with about 4 tiny scratches right next to each other. They are very light but noticeable. It looks like I have a piece of dust on it but it's a scratch
Since I got the phone last Tuesday, do you think I'll be able to get a replacement?
It's ridiculous that screens from 2013 still scratch dead easily, I've dropped my One X numerous times and screen is in perfect condition looking brand new. Same with Desire HD...
Could it be possibly faulty?
BTW: It didn't fall directly on pebbles, it slid from a sunbathing chair and fell on pebbles so it really fell from only about 5-10cm. I am gutted
Pebbles/stones/sand contain quartz, a pretty darned hard mineral. Gorilla Glass is rated a 5-6H hardness, while quartz is 7H. It will scratch your screen every time.
Ah, I might give T-Mobile a call and see if I can get it replaced.

I'll just try my luck to see because they have 2 weeks return warranty or something like that. I'll show them the scratch and see if they can actually do anything about it. If not then I'll have to live with it.

No need to be harsh, I have been having several issues with it anyway including 3 or 4 dead pixels with which I was fine. I agree that it was my fault but since the device hasn't been in a perfect condition anyway it's better if it goes.
Thankfully they have this 14 days warranty which covers accidental damage as well so I should be getting a new handset later this week or early next week.
If you're still under the 14 day return just return it. Then buy a screen protector

Mine scratched after 2 days which was my fault however when I got mine the tmobile worker was very reckless with mine and she messed up the SIM ejector and sold me a refurbished one, so when I went for the exchange I was told about the 50 dollar restock fee but didn't have to pay (maybe because of the way the worker handled my first device) oh and proof she messed up the SIM ejector was he couldn't get my SIM card out for me! Lol so he activated the one in the box

Good stuff I have already ordered a new case and screen protector so I am prepared when the new one comes later this week. I gave them a ring again and guy from T-Mobile was extremely nice and he told me that I am paying £5 a month for for insurance anyway which I didn't even know since I get first 3 months free but because it happened between those 14 days he would have replaced it anyway.
I've been in touch with HTC and they said that every retailer has to take your old handset back within 28 days even if it's not faulty which is a good thing to know as T-Mobile said they only have 14 days.
So far my second one is good, every here and there I hear a crackle in speaker for brief moment and top front plate is a little separated but just very very slightly but it's better than that horizontal scratch I made which was deep and the jacked up SIM ejector refurbished one I had before

[Q] Replacing cracked glass on Note 4

My very late, in rush butt started running without realizing that my phone fell out. I got the phone back from a stranger after multiple attempts to unlock my phone and keep it. Anyways, my friends and I, we came to conclusion that my phone was ran over by a car, face down on the asphalt. Tech21 screen protector on it has multiple holes and dents from the surface of the asphalt. Luckily enough, everything is fine but the screen, of course. It cracked every where. Every tallest bumps of the road left a crack on the screen. I can barely read but actual screen is FINE. THANK GOD!!
SOOO end of story. I ordered repair kit on eBay but I was wondering if anyone went through changing the glass on Note 4 yet? am i the first one?? T.T
Edit: it's my first time replacing the glass but I've dealt with similar stuff before. If anyone would like a video of it, I could try to record it. If I crack my screen, people could cry with me or laugh at me.

It would work better if you had the machine to separate the glass from the screen. I will say if the screen is badly cracked up you might have a really low success rate.
why not just buy a whole screen? they are under $200 the last time i checked on ebay. less risk and less headache.
you can even try just the glass after you replace the screen just to do it and if it works you have a back up, if not no loss.
i have a machine and hardly use it cuz how bad people break their screens today, whole screen is the safe bet.
i don't know if its the same in your area but most places charge $100-150 to replace the glass and most places don't reapply new adhesive to the digitizer and glass . so the glass is being held onto the phone by the frame only.

I agree completely. I dropped the phone on the road while riding and except the top right corner crack on screen there is no damage. Somewhat surprising because i must be atleast 30 mph and the force with which it fell, should have broken into pieces. Not even the back cover came off the phone.

My screen cracked while snowboarding and Repairs Universe offers a new glass/digitizer assembly for $189. I contacted Samsung and they offered to repair it for $197.77, so for an additional $8 someone will do it for you. The only downside is you'll be without a phone for about 1.5-2 weeks.
I was worried about the stuff from Repairs Universe being genuine Samsung parts (wanna make sure I get a real 1440p screen and not Chinese knock off crap that's only 720p), so I contacted them. They assured me that it is a genuine Samsung screen, but they could have been lying to me just to get a sale. For that extra $8 I'll get genuine Samsung parts and it'll be getting done properly by someone that know what they're doing.
So for anyone that needs a new screen those are two options for you.

That's good to know, thanks for sharing. Yes, I agree, I'd go directly to Samsung as well, considering price is roughly the same.
Any chance you can share the phone/email of the department at Samsung you contacted? Would be good to have that handy.

I went to their website on my phone, clicked on contact us, and did a live chat with one of their customer service people. It'll ask you to choose which product you're contacting them about (phones, TVs, appliances, etc) then what kind of phone. They'll ask for your IMEI number and all that jazz. I found them to be quite polite and helpful.
The only down side is you'll be without a phone for about 2 weeks, so make sure you have a backup phone to use or prepare yourself for terriblewithdrawal from not having your Note...
Guys the people you want to contact isn't Samsung. It's their only authorized repair service in the United States. The name is RSI found in both Plano and Hurst, Texas. Here's their website: www.repairsvc.com
Dealing with them directly should reduce your wait time.

Yes, that's the price they charge. I was letting everyone know that these are the guys that Samsung uses. They use genuine OEM parts and are the only repair center in the United States authorized to do Samsung repairs. If you look earlier in the thread, someone said that Samsung charges $197.77 with a 1.5-2 week turn around. As you just said yourself, this method would be $5 cheaper and 2x faster than going through Samsung to get the same place to repair your phone. Just was putting it out there if someone wanted 100% assurance that they were getting genuine OEM parts but didn't want to wait 1.5-2 weeks that Samsung quoted them.

Yup same reason I haven't cancelled the tmo 'jump' subscription. You do have to factor in the $10 per month subscription price though, so if you break your phone in 10 months, it's $275.
T-Mobile insurance to replace phone is $175 I just filed a claim on Saturday and got a new phone not refurbished today. The only problem is I had a Note 4 in White but they sent Gray since White was not in stock. I called T-Mobile and complained and got a $30 credit applied to my account so I really just paid $145

Screen stops working after a drop

I just have a slight drop about 30 centimeter. Pick it up and everything look fines. No scratch or break line. Thought it's okay. But unfortunately the screen got like this.
I wonder it's just a small broken inside the phone which les the screen cannot display or the screen is really broken. So sad I just bought it two days ago after my Nexus 6p got shutdown problem.
Thanks guys.
Maybe the display cable was dislodged. Might be worth opening it up and checking the connections.
What surface did you drop it on?
It's pretty easy to open. You can take a look yourself or take it to repair shop for repair estimate.

Yah I just bought it from a secondhand mobile shop. Will send it back to them today. Just want to ask around that have anyone got the same issue. Thanks bro.
Not the same issue I had, but something similar. I dropped it, and no cracks or anything, but the touch stopped responding. I was worried as hell when I took it to the dealers. They took it in and later they returned it to me, fixed might I add, and told me a cable was dislodged. No charge was taken from me, but that depends on the shop you give it to. I was still under the Warranty period, so it was fine. Good luck to you, and try to get it fixed, even at a small cost. It's a great device.
Cheers!

How durable is this phone?

I'm not normally one for phone cases. I think they ruin the look and feel which are major selling points of flagship phones, especially the sleek and glossy P20 Pro. But this phone feels really delicate. It's like holding a slab of glass. And we don't even know for sure yet what kind of glass (https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20-pro/help/phone-gorilla-glass-protrction-yes-t3771328).
So my question is has anyone damaged their P20 pro yet? Anyone dropped it? Scuffed the body? Scratched the screen or back? I'm trying to get an idea of how vulnerable it is.
Tragic that I'm the first to reply to my own thread but I have actually cracked my screen! Not very badly. Just a hairline crack that sort of cuts off the top left corner about 1cm in. No not sure how it happened. I haven't dropped it. I may have put it down on the table slightly too hard, but nothing major. I'm a bit disappointed in its durability. I'm sure my old OnePlus 3t survived similar treatment many many times. Guess I'm going to have to use a case or be extra careful. I wouldn't fancy it's chances if I dropped it though!

Also, I have dropped mine from above my head while taking a photo at a gig and the phone bounced along the floor but suffered no damage, not even a scratch.

I'm with O2 in the UK, and I have insured my phone against pretty much everything so it is definitely possible to insure it. The phone should also come with a warranty, if you can prove the screen is defective and wasn't up to the specified standard then you would be able to put in a request for a replacement.

I'm curious about whether the phone was defective because I didn't really do anything that would damage it. Could have scratched it (can a scratch turn into a crack?). Seems very unlikely that I cracked it without noticing. But no idea how is go about proving that the phone was defective.

Genuine Screen replacement

Hi,
My little man threw my rog direct on its face with no screen protector on and the screen cracked, i'm actually quite impressed, it dropped from over a meter of height. and everything still works including the on-screen fingerprint scanner. however I need that screen replaced. Is there any place that have the genuine parts, are the ones from aliexpress genuine? will they still be 120hz? I bought from Asus UK, and they quoted me £300 just for the screen.
You can get it from Aliexpress for cheaper. My issue is the repair. Do we have to remove the back panel to get to the screen or can I just go directly in the front and replace it there? the tear downs I found don't explain as they use a lot of jump cuts which doesn't help.

Looks like you don't need to take the back off. At exactly 7.06 there is a hole thru the black separation layer under the screen for the screen connector for attaching to the mother board. :good:

A bit off topic, but his name isnt actually "Jerry" his channel name is Jerry-rig everything (as in to fix or put together using non-standard or improvised materials).
Do not repair your phone yourself! If you do it. You will void your warranty, please return the device to your seller and they will send it over to a certified repair place where they have certified Asus techs that are allowed to open your phone up and repair it without warranty being affected. But if you do repair yourself then hardware warranty will no longer be valid.
Keep in mind that the device has 3 warranty types. 1 for the screen, 1 for hardware and last for battery.
So even you cracked your screen warranty is no longer valid for that part, but your hardware and battery has warranty still. So this is why you should not repair it yourself. Unless you want to void your warranty completely.

there is a lip near the speaker grill and around the glass. I can not tell if he goes around it or under it.. I will look into it again later.
Thanks for the info. The screen is super thin as it dropped knee height and it did not want to turn on. I then saw a hair line and that was that. maybe tempered glass would solve this in the future with a better case since \i used the one that came with the phone.

So even you cracked your screen warranty is no longer valid for that part, but your hardware and battery has warranty still. So this is why you should not repair it yourself. Unless you want to void your warranty completely.

My phone is the tencent version and I live in Japan. I was not sure if the seller on Aliexpress would take it.

there is a lip near the speaker grill and around the glass.

They should unless you can try contacting Asus in Japan to find if there is any certified repair place in Japan or they could possible give you nearest one in next country for you to ship it to them so they can repair it.
I broke the display and glass of my ROG 2 by accident. Fell from my pocket when riding bike and was run over by vehicles. There are scuff marks in the frame as well. Lying in service center for last 3 weeks awaiting display to be delivered from head office. Cost of replacement INR 15000 all charges inclusive. The service center says all asus phone displays come with the frame but they are not sure about ROG2 as my phone is the first one they handled. Hoping display comes with the frame so the scuff marks are also gone.
I was told display will arrive next week
Warranty on accidental damages is useless, Luckily I have insurance and am waiting for them to respond with solution, I think they'll just replace like for like
My Asus Rog Phone 2 screen is broken
I broke my Asus rog phone 2 screen accidentally. Now it's all black but i can receive calls play YouTube etc(the touch works). The service center told they cannot retrieve the data. So I'm planning to install a screen outside using some other trained professionals. Where can i get a good screen? Please share the link. Also please let me know if the data can be recovered.

I don't think you understood my point. You have two warranty types. One for screen and other for internal hardware and when you break the screen or glass then that warranty is voided for the screen/glass end, but hardware warranty is still valid so opening your Asus Rog phone 2 yourself and replacing the screen will void the warranty for hardware side and that usually is 2 years warranty. Or at least 1 year.
So don't repair your device yourself if you want your hardware warranty voided aswell.
Only a certified Asus technician may open your phone and replace the parts. Since then warranty will remain on the hardware end.

Yes i did. INR 15000. I think the cost went up as i was collecting the phone. They charged me the old rate applicable when i gave the phone for repair
I also broke my ROG Phone ll recently. Sent it back for repair. I was willing to pay the £226. Then they sent me an email stating the screen part I need no longer exists. They will refund me the repair cost but I am not stuck paying £30 a month for a broken, un-fixable phone. Not sure what to do at this point.
So i broke my screen on a drunken night out and as i had the tencent edition I didn't bother trying asus UK. Bought a screen of aliexpress went to a local repair shop and fixed. It is worth noting that you do have to go through the back as the screen ribbon is looped through the main board just to squash that rumour that you can go through front whole only.

That's some bull****, I bet they took parts as to expensive to get so they tell you a lie by saying part no longer exists.
Depends where you sent it to. Proper certified repair place won't tell you such thing since they know this device is new and parts are still available.
After complaining, they said that in certain circumstances they can send devices to Poland. Got them to do it, and I received my phone a week ago with a new frame, screen and battery.
Not sure if it would have happened if I didn't kick up a fuss

Well lately battery is stuck strongly with adhesive tape. So removing the battery will damage the battery to, so that's why battery is replaced aswell free of charge.
Even Samsung does the same to their phones.
But good that you complained so it got repaired and is like new now

How is the screen quality? Do you have the link of the seller you bought? I would not like to try the lottery and get the same ass yours if it worked well. Thanks!
Looking just as good as the one I had before and the part looked identical to the one that was removed. I'm not gonna post the link here as I I'm not sure if it will get moderated away but sent you a DM.
