Bluetooth always discoverable - Xiaomi Redmi 4X Questions & Answers

Since a MIUI update the phone cannot be hidden on bluetooth. This is a disaster. Cause a lot headache for me. Is there any tweak/mod/way to get this option back and hide the phone somehow?

For me this app worked https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=by4a.bluetoothsettings&hl=en_US
After enabling bluetooth I run this and click "Limit to devices that are already paired" and no longer see my phone from other devices. This need to be run again after turning bluetooth off and on.
Redmi 4x, MIUI 9.5.10

Doesn't seem to work for me on Mi9. Is there another option? I don't mind if it requires root

Thanks for a great tip. Worked fine for my rooted Redmi Note 4 running global 9.5.10.0. I have an identical stay-at-home phone running Revolution Remix. The ONLY reason I keep MIUI on my daily phone is SecondSpace. Nothing I have seen so far implements a virtual machine as well.

WiFi Problems

I am running Global 10.2. I got the phone on Saturday and since then I am unable to get wifi working properly. It will work for maybe a few minutes and then cut off. I have tried two different routers.
I am unrooted. Is there anything I can do apart from returning the phone or waiting until I can unlock the bootloader? TIA

I am having the same problem as you with my Mi9 very anoying works fine with the Hotspot shared from my Samsung S9+ but not all apps work via the home routers tried on 2 routers same thing MIUI update server is not reachable I also find Netflix doesn't work via home wifi from the MI9 but both Netflix and MIUI update work from the samsung phone hotspot netflix works fine from my other Android phones I own on my wifi though
Hope the fix this soon its very anoying.
Same problem for me : Wifi sharing is not working for all apps. It works for Chrome and Dropbox on my pc, but it seems some apps are not working. Those works with regular wifi. For exemple, nodeJS is not working fine.
Is the Mi9 blocking some ports ?
I got this problem too
I solve with set the hotspot band to fixed, 1 or 2.
But I have to set this every time I switch on hotspot.
Same problem
hi guys i m using the mi 9t and i have the same problem on 10.3.11, have you solved it or do u have any ideas on what is causing this stupid issue ?
happen to my mi9t today and i think it's kinda related to the co-ex problem between modem & wifi (problem not fix even rebooting the phone and restart wifi)
u can try the following step: settings-->wireless &networks --> more-->reset wi-fi,mobile &bluetooth
it works weel for me

Q: Are there BT issues with oreo on the note 9?

Are there BT issues with the note 9 running oreo (I never updated)
I'm having HORRIBLE issues with pairing and the phone staying connected to my garmin drivesmart 55 GPS.
50% of the time it wont automatically connect, when it does, hands free mode is hit or miss, and then I have to repair it under a new name.
Ive never had such horrible bluetooth problems except with garmin devices, everything else works fine but I figured it was because of older phones.
I just wanted to hear if anyone else had ever experienced BT issues with garmin GPS's
I never had any bluetooth issues with my Note 9 running Oreo in the past..

I think i found the problem, it has something to do with knox and secure folder.
When pairing failed i noticed a secure folder headphone notification icon that would go away before i could see what it was.
If I go in the secure folder and pair the devices it works 100% of the time.
Why? who knows.

I'm still on oreo.

Im getting a fair bit of phoning home to China, EU/UK rom

So ok first off, i really do love this phone. I got it for the camera and for content creation and its great for it...
I had a Redmi note 4 before, and for a couple of years Ive been using a firewall since reading about a lot of chinese phones sending large amounts of data to china.
Now yes my old phone did phone home A LOT. So thats why i installed noroot firewall to keep an eye on things.
And literally every service phoned home. Many services that have no right connecting to the internet.
Now come 10t, i read that because this is an offical EU phone with EU rom and not a grey import, it should be following all the EU rules on data collection... So basically turn everything off it shouldnt contact home.
Trouble is..... even though I have turned most of the things off (outside updating service) many of the apps still phone home... Analytics, MSA DOWNLOADs, file explorer, mi remote, compass, clock security.... and other framework services. All phoning home to servers in china.
Ive not really done a deep dive into exactly what service is sending what data. But Why would downloads connect to a chinese IP every time i download something off the app store.... Or open Chrome?
Well using firewall now to keep things locked down.
Has anyone else seen this kind of activity on EU phones? Is anyone making a clean rom that remove this kind of sus activity?
That's what you have to deal with if you want to use MIUI.
Why not root the phone and flash Lineage?

Yes everything is working except DT2W.
There is minor bugs that will be fixed.
It's very stable.

Some 5ghz wifi bands aren't working
Auto rotate doesn't work
Bluetooth connection to audio devices fails after a call
Screen doesn't wake up when someone calls in like 90% of calls
Lineage Recovery bootloops
And yes dt2w doesn't work. Those are not minor bugs...

Don't know about 5ghz, I haven't have any issues with 5ghz. It's fixed in the latest version? At least it says so in the notes.
Auto rotation works fine for me. Have't noticed the issue with screen not waking up during incoming calls but I rarely receive or make calls.
I only used my bluetooth in ear for listening to music, not for calls but I se someone wrote it can be fixed by lowering volume a bit.
Lineage recovery bootloops if you flash it to recovery but if you fastboot boot the img it will boot fine every time.

That's all workarounds, that's why I say these are not minor bugs. I had all of those problems. I had 5ghz problem because my wifi router was set to a channel lineage couldn't read. Lowering volume, and turning bluetooth on/off couldn't fix it for me, only restart worked. Auto rotation and blank screen during calls were also my problems. Well to end offtopic, I'll wait for stable pe or similar rom before switching from global rom. I have pihole set up as blocking firewall at home so it helps a ton with phoning home...
ive also tried using noroot firewall, which worked fine on my old phone. but no matter the battery saver settings, it keeps getting shut down by the phone... So thats not secure.

POCO X3 NFS and Android Auto

Hi,
I'm having a lot of pain with my POCO X3 and Android Auto hope to find help here...
1. I need to connect my phone twice in order to connect to AA. I need to disconnect it twice from my car multimedia port side, if I unplug it from my phone side (USB-C) it takes more than 2 times to connect to AA.
2. After a phone call any audio (Spotify, streaming radio, other phone call) is routed to my phone speaker, I need to disconnect and connect my phone (twice) to solve it.
3. GPS signal is with a delay
4. Incoming call - it takes forever to show the call information (who's calling me).
5. Selecting apps via AA, very slow response time, even in app, for example I'm trying to add a report via Waze it's almost impossible, trying to make a phone call while using Waze.
I'm getting the same results in 2 different cars, I've tried different cables... I don't use Dual apps which I know is making trouble with AA.
I've tried Apple Carplay and it's working very well and very smooth.
Hope you guys will be able to help me..
Wow, I'm not the only one with your point 2! I thought it was my setup.
I'm running stock Android 10 MIUI rooted with Magisk.
@mosheva what's your setup so we can try and debug this?

what about the other issues? your Waze is running correctly? You plug your device only 1 time?
So frustrating...
Waze, maps, etc work fine. It's just the sound direction after a phone call that is the issue for me (your point 2)

What is your setting for the usb? File transfer? MTP? Do you use special cable?

Anyone got the issue 2 solved? I've been trying so hard on getting it solved it's so frustrating
For those of us having issues with sound redirection after a phone call, are you rooted? I ask because I'm trying to narrow down the route to a possible solution. If we are rooted, it becomes easier. I'm not worried about using 3rd party ROMs because I had this issue on stock.
I'm rooted
Seems it is not issue on POCO only. I have the same sound redirection with Mi11, stock global rom, not rooted. Bootloader is not unlocked yet, so once done, I am planning to flash xiaomi.eu rom as it seems the issue is fixed there.

I guess it's Xiaomi issue and not just POCO phone issue...
I'm using an old iPhone as a secondary phone while I'm driving just for the Apple CarPlay as all of my other old working phones are Xiaomi...

Hi, yesterday I installed the 12.5.9 eu version, confirm that the problem of the sound that is passed to the mobile after a call, continues to occur.
Today I installed version 21.6.30 as commented by the colleague and they have effectively solved the problem of the sound that jumped to the phone after a call.
Great!

Question Redmi Note 11 Bluetooth interferes with Wifi

Redmi Note 11
For the past three months, I am facing this odd situation where as soon as I turn Bluetooth on, the wifi disconnects. I have tried everything that I learned from Google and even reset my phone twice, but no solution so far. I have tried 5GHz wifi but still the same issue. I cannot use Bluetooth headphones or connect my phone to the laptop or smart watch while connected to wifi. I bought this phone in February 2022. It worked fine for a month and then this problem started. Please help.

If you haven't physically damaged your smartphone, then my guess is that you are experiencing a software (driver) problem -- in that case you have 2 options:
report this issue to Xiaomi & wait for the next MIUI release,
install (after unlocking the bootloader) a custom ROM (replacing MIUI) -- you can choose whichever you like:

a custom rom won't fix it i guarantee it , its a hardware issue . ive had the same problem with various devices over the years , phones , tables and laptops . the wifi and bluetooth signals interfere with each other . try putting your wifi on 2.4ghz bands b / g and see if it helps
I tested your issue twice just now. Connected the phone to a 5Ghz Wi-Fi then turned on the Bluetooth, after that I it paired with a sound system. The Wi-Fi never disconnected during the process. Maybe you have too many wireless devices in your area. Do more tests in a different location. Try flashing a different version of MIUI global if the issue persists.

Surprisingly your suggested solution was spot on. I had two smartwatch apps on my phone (one for Haylou, and the other for the Mibro smartwatch). I uninstalled both, restarted my phone and turned on both bluetooth and wifi. No more disconnection issue. Now have to figure out which app is actually causing the problem. Before your reply, I posted my problem on many forums and searched google, but no effective solution till your reply. Thank you very much.

Thank you for your reply, brother. But how can you test my issue when you don't have the problem in the first place? Regardless of which network I am using (home, office, friend's house) and on which band I am (2.4 or 5.0 GHz), as soon as I turned on the Bluetooth, wifi disconnects. Swapon88's suggestion really worked. It was the smartwatch app.

Alhamdulillah, happy to hear that.
Brilliant. I was having this issue and uninstalled "da fit" app and it's fine now. Thanks
I am also facing a similar issue. When I am connected to Wifi and Bluetooth simultaneously, wifi disconnects after a few minutes and no Access points shows up in the available networks section. Wifi reconnects when bluetooth is turned off.
I dont have any smartwatch app installed.

I think it's common problem when connecting to a 5GHz Wi-Fi and using Bluetooth at the same time, it kept happening to my RN9 too

Yup, that seems to be the case. Can confirm such 'issues' happened on my moto g3, moto g5 plus, rn8 too because of interfering frequencies that causes either Bluetooth or wifi to disconnect (shortly).
