download recovery flashable stock rom zip 9.5.4.0. (approximately 1.6GB in size)
flash it in TWRP recovery. (Data wipe not required)
don't forget to flash magisk else the rom won't boot.

Thanks a lot, already downloaded 9.2.1.0 and 9.5.4.0.
is possible do it next time throught ota? Maybe using Red Wolf Recovery?

You can certainly download the OTA through updater app however applying is not possible for rooted Mi5 witih TWRP.

Are both custom recovery AND root the problem for OTA, or just the recovery?
If I leave stock recovery, and do full unroot with SuperSU, will then OTA still work?

You would have to try that.. I didn't try this method.. I downloaded the full rom from en.miui.com and flashed through TWRP... and then flashed SuperSu.. this would ensure that data remains and rom is rooted and updated.
Moreover, generally MIUI OTA updates are same size as the original rom, so doesn't matter if you download full rom or OTA.
Thanks. OK then. So generally I can install both TWRP and root. And when I get OTA notification, i just download the full rom, and flash it using MiFlash tool, without wiping data and phone storage? That way I will still have all my apps, but will obviously have to root again (and maybe put TWRP?), right?

download the full rom zip file and flash it using TWRP.. no need to flash using MiFlash tool.. you'll flash to flash supersu zip again.. no need to get TWRP again as it is still there and ya all yours apps and data will be there.

No, miui ota are much smaller than full rom. They are just just 100 or 200 MB if you update regularly. There is a modified twrp called zcx. If has an option to flash incremental ota zip without losing root or recovery. Search on afh.

OTA updates are literally waste of data, no noticeable improvements at all. I'm on EUI 19s BTW

I flashed the latest version from TWRP. Haven't tried flashing anything from EUI recovery. I already have the latest EUI.

According to me you don't have to unroot and install stock recovery just to install ota update there is a way to install update for same kind of rom i.e. stock rom update on stock rom or Custom rom update on custom rom without losing any user data. (Note:- This method is worked for me to apply ota update. You can do it on your own risk but if you had any problem you can ask me anytime.
Following are steps :-
1) Download the latest ota update it should be located here (internal storage/data/com.letv.android.ota/files/otaUpdates) folder.
2) There should be a zip file just cut and paste it in root folder for easy process.
3) Now boot to TWRP recovery and flash zip file which is pasted in root folder.
4) Now format dalvik cache and if you want root, then root again because due to flashingnew rom root access and all other changes you have done in system will lost but all your data will be safe... (This method is usefull for same type of rom i.e. from stock rom to stock rom or custom rom to custom rom).
5) Just for your knowledge 5.8.0.19s update file is full rom file but if you want other versions such as 5.8.0.16s then use offline update packages which are full size i.e. around 1.7 gb.
Also you can flash root since twrp comes with inbuild root tools just locate it in twrp recovery in advanced/tools/root.
Also you can install stock rom just after flashing stock rom in place of any custom rom just wipe data and factory reset and then apply root and reboot normally.

OTA will not install if you are ROOTED.
only way to unroot is unroot from app and flash stock kernel.
download full rom LEECO website and flash it from twrp

Use the Chinese Developer's TWRP...
It will let you flash official Update also will replace recovery, root, basebend, firmware everything.
So you will have a new, untouched mobile... and can receive and install future updates...

You can search on google for that recovery...

Hi,
While trying to restore stock ROM my mobile got hanged. After that only stock recovery menu is showing it's neither loading the stock ROM neither ADB is detecting. I am unable to flash TWRP since ADB shows waiting for device. If by anyway ADB or fastboot will detect my device then I can copy the stock ROM Zip file along with TWRP recovery.
Thanks in Advance
Tapas
i am flashing with qfil in leeco le 2 x526 ,but now it was hangs in logo ....plz help me

Update to Nougat

Dear XDA,
Can I update my phone (OOS 3.5.4), to OnePlus3TOxygen_28_170114 via OTA?
It's been rooted and I'm using the TWRP recovery.
No custom kernel.
No, you need to download the full OTA and flash it in TWRP.
My advice is do not do a dirty flash.
I wiped Data and System and battery life has been amazing after.

Can I only download it via OTA on my phone then?
Do I get to keep root, TWRP and files?
Download the full rom from https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/how-to/rom-oos4-0-nougat-op3t-leaked-t3523482
move it to phone and load twrp

Which version of TWRP?

So, just got the OTA update to Android Pie for my Mi 8 Global, and want to try flashing TWRP again. Every single version of TWRP I have flashed before has always either fail to boot, or always reboots into recovery and the ROM never loads. Anyone can suggest a real working TWRP file to flash? Do I need to wipe data? Etc. Since TWRP hasn't worked for me at all, I have to root with a roundabout way. Install Magisk Manager, extract and recompile boot.img into patched_boot.img and flash that in fastboot. This gives me roo but no TWRP so I can't flash any custom kernels or ROMs.

Data deleted, twrp up and running, phone unlocked - HELP

I want a clean install on my mate 20.
I have unlocked bootloader and want to install stock rom with root prevs.
My current install process:
I first
flash with twrp
then remove encryption
then wipe cache/dalvik
then format data,
then install romaur v1.x from twrp.
when get into emui i use emui flasher1.1apk to go to the firmware i want.
This process takes to long and what file-format does the firmware need to be in order to install stock rom from twrp??
I love the romaur, but there are some components removed from the rom that i have gotten used to in emui.
The rom is ultra fast tough! (sorry Aur)
So how to makes this work:
TWRP
Format data
clear cache/dalvik
install 9.0.0.xxx (optional rom)
Finish with a clean install and then root with patched_boot.img
Then install magisk ++++
Any ideas? Hope my post makes sense.
Regards, Kenneth, Norway

I guessing there is no way to install stock rom from twrp then??

how about using hstool to upgrade to the latest firmware and then unlock bootloader and flash patched magisk to recovery_ramdisk partition.
and if you want twrp you can flash it to ercovery partition
