Samsung gallery app - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Does someone know what it takes to make Samsung Gallery app work on any devices, even not Samsung?

Don't know the asnwer, I can't test as I only have Samsung devices on hand, but just curious. What happens, fails to install, doesn't find photos, etc?

I have a galaxy S5 running Lineage Os 15.1, tried to install the gallery APK and also got the same result

I think Samsung's Gallery App is tied to the Samsung UI/Touchwiz

How to get standard Samsung video app installed?

Hi, I wondered if there was any way for me to get the standard Samsung video player app installed on my 3110 running [ROM][Hybrid][JB:CM10] Paranoid Android 2.51+ - Legacy?
I extracted SecTabletVideoPlayer.APK from a Samsung 4.1.1 rom and tried to install but it stopped part way through with a generic not installed message?
Thanks
Dom
You could try to copy that APK to /system/app/ and set its permission to rw_,r__,r__. Then reboot your tab. I haven't tried to install that myself, but it might work.

Send From nokia n9 QUAD BOOT : Maemo, Meego, NITDroid, and Kubuntu.
Thanks guys, will give the perms a try
It won't work... It needs the TouchWiz framework and other files, that don't exist in non-TouchWiz roms. I've also wanted that and tried, but no go. Not the video player, the music player, the calendar, the S-Planner, nothing done by Samsung works.

permission problem
I'm using a GS4 i9505 v4.3 and 4.2.2(both of them) rooted with CF-auto, every time when this app want to work i ask for root permission and I grant but at the end I get this error:
su-mksh: <stdin>[14]:cat:/system/bin/debuggerd.res:no such file or directorymount:device or resource busy
I also update the security policy to pass the app.
What is the problem?

Gear 2 Neo ROM compatability

So I have SGH-1337M S4 running CM11 which so far I haven't found a way to connect to my Gear 2 Neo. As I understand it the watch is only compatible with TocuhWiz. So does that mean that it would only work on the stock Samsung OS or any TouchWiz based ROMs will suffice? Anyone care to make a list of ROMs that the Gear 2 works with that aren't TouchWiz? Or is there a plan in motion to put custom ROM on to the watch itself and just forget the whole TouchWiz thing in general?
you can install gear manager but you won't be able to use all that samsung stuff (app store etc.)

Installing the gear manager is the easy part. For me it crashes all the time saying my device is not supported. What I came to understand is No Touchwiz = No Gear. I wish there was a ROM that was similar to CM but with touchwiz. Any ideas?

[Q] Where to download apps?

So I might very well be a little dense here, but I cannot for the life of me seem to find out where to go to download app for my (ex-)galaxy Gear running Tizen? There's no place in the Gear manager where I'm able to see any.
I'm running a CM based rom, and have edited the build.prop to mimic a S5.
What am I missing?
//M
You need galaxy (Samsung) app store and access via gear manager
OK. How do I get that?
I have downloaded the latest Galaxy App store from Samsung, and gear manager is in fact showing in it, so it does "know" both is installed. Yet I find no way to actually search for the apps in either of them.
//M
When you first open "gear manager" on the phone, scroll down a lil. You'll see "Samsung gear apps". Open that for "galaxy gear apps".
This is what you'll see which is different from "galaxy apps"
Hmm makes sende i cant find it then, i dont have that option
//M
Anybody able to guide me on how to enable that? I've changed the build.prop to reflect the S5, but only changed it one place as that was said to be sufficient.

You can only download from the Samsung store. If you don't have that, the build prop change is not going to do anything

If someone has downloaded the apks (like I've done with android based version), then you can install them. But if you don't have the store app, then you can't get them from the official source

But as I said I have the store it's just not showing up in gear manager. Does it need to be installed as a system app?

MS Word on 920C

I have a 920C and want to put Microsoft Word on it. The play store says my phone is not compatible. Is this because of the CSC and if so, can I change it (preferably without root)?
The current CSC is EGY; I am using it in the UK on Three.
Before you ask, I don't want to put one of the alternatives to Word - it has to be Word itself.
Thanks

Just download the APK, links below:
Word - http://www23.zippyshare.com/v/J1NGdeFD/file.html
Excel - http://www37.zippyshare.com/v/DJtFyMbB/file.html
Got both on my 920C and work fine. Not sure if they'll update via play store but they are the latest versions.
Someone else had this issue & I confirmed the same "device not compatible on the play store" on my N920T. I tried installing the microsoft apks from my stock ROM (BOH4) & for some reason they would fail to install when I was on BOH6.
Anyways, install it from the Samsung Galaxy App store, the Microsoft apps installed just fine for me there. I'm not a fan of those apps though & prefer using the old Quick Office Pro app better.
It isn't pre-installed in your device? I had the Microsoft apps pre-installed in mine. Strange =/

Galaxy Notes on M21

Hey all!
The only reason I changed to Samsung M21 was my need to read notes on my phone I wrote in Samsung Notes on other device (Samsung Galaxy Tab S4). And I was very surprised and disappointed, when I reallized they don't allow to update Samsung Notes app on M21 to the latest version. Now it's 3.* on M21 and 4.* on Tab S4, so it even doesn't show me my notes. It is funny, but cheaper A20 has 4.* version. It returns with error if I try to install latest .apk of the app, Galaxy Store shows only 3.*.
Are here any solutions? Maybe, some custom ROM or kinda forced installing?
Probably because M21 has One UI Core. Sadly, there's nothing you can do about it if you're not rooted.
Thank you for the answer, Fredin_. It is no problem to root the phone, isn't it? My previous phones were rooted, so I had a little experience. Could you please tell more about solutions after I do it.

It shouldn't be a big deal, nothing is broken for me and banking apps work after hiding the magisk app, using magisk hide and passing safetynet, though I did come across one app that refused to work.
You need to disable signature verification somehow (the easiest way would be to use luckypatcher) and install the apk using Split APK Installer using the root method. If that doesn't work, you can try installing the app as a system app, most apps should work with either of these methods.
But if you are happy with android 10, then an even better alternative would be to use Totsuka OS. It's a OneUI port, so you can just install stuff from the galaxy store or playstore.

Yeah, then Totsuka will be good for you, pretty much bugless. Don't forget to flash the keystore fix after flashing it tho.
Good luck.

Nice
Ditch SNotes now or it will bite you even harder. Samsung is notorious for lack of legacy support with this apk, as I know all too well. Cut&pasted more of these notes than I care to remember to salvage them
I use ColorNote now. You can hyperlink directly from them so you can use it for saving bookmarks too. It will store backups on a SD card and you can export backups to the PC.
This app it's self doesn't need internet connection to function... in fact I always block it with Karma Firewall.
Save an installable copy of it if you decide to use it... never trust Playstore.
