always listening Google Assistant - Nokia 7 Plus Questions & Answers

Hey, is there any way to enable "hey Google" listening even when screen is off as sd 660 supports Qualcomm All-ways aware tech?

even if it does, it will take toll on battery backup.

If you haven't set any Pin or password or fingerprint authentucation, then even with screen off and saying "Hey Google" will unlock the device.

K.khiladi, what if you set pin or fingerprint? And if you enable voice unlock in google settings at the same time?

"Ok google" with screen off while unplugged? (Lollipop)

Is there a way to get this feature working like it does on the Nex6?
Currently (with all the Moto crap disabled) I can only get this functionality while plugged in.
Did they kill the feature in the lollipop build so we'd be forced to use their junkie Moto Voice hand-off system?

I can't speak for the specific version of Google Search that you have, but for versions on the '13 X, they have hotword detection completely disabled.
It turns out there is an internal flag to blacklist devices from turning on the option. I think more recently the version on the 13 allows hotword but does not allow the "from any screen" nor "while screen is off" options.
You used to be able to edit the flags with "unleash the google" But I don't know of this still works and it no longer maps all the settings to their names (meaning you just see config 1 config 2,etc)
OK Google works from any screen and while device off.
Make sure OK Google Detection is turned ON for any screen and off.
You prefer Google voice search over Moto Voice? Why?

Do you have a link to a source/video showing that this works on the Moto X 2014?

Because the response is much faster without the Moto middleware. I'm pissed that they disabled it. Why shouldn't I have a choice???

its called google now. enable it, turn on all the options.. then, when the phones screen is off, unplugged or plugged in, say ok google, and itll wake your device up. if thats not what you meant, the nexus 6 doesnt have any other way to unlock your phone with voice. oh, btw, questions go into the q&a section, not into general.
My google now is enable but I can't see and voice unlock feature on my smart lock list . ?

I think you mean trusted voice. We have been discussing it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3080644
However, it seems Google may have stopped the roll out due to issues.

Fingerprint Applock which can use specific fingerprint?

Our device can have upto 5 fingerprints. Does anyone know if there is some app that can lock the apps only with the fingerprint I specify.
Like for eg. I have 5 fingerprints of two different persons and I don't want the other person to unlock a specific app through his/her fingerprint.
Instead I specify that say that so and so app will be unlocked through Finger 1.
Is this even possible??

There's a feature called app locker in security and fingerprint and that allows to set up different apps to be opened only with fingerprint or other secured methods like pin password or pattern

Yes but that uses all the available fingerprints, not a specific fingerprint which i can specify
Bump... Anyone??
No I don't think that's possible.
Bumping again with hope
Sorry
maybe download another app lock app from the play store and register only your fingerprints?

I dont think any such feature exist in Android. I had this feature in my jail broken iPhone where we can assign different actions for all registered fingerprints. I am also looking forward to get this feature in Android .

I see no developer has replied on this thread yet. The feature does not exist but if iPhone can have it then Android can too.
Hope to see a skilled developer here who can make this possible.
Thank you

Bixby Voice Wake up Set up?

Does anyone use Bixby? How do you set up it up to use Bixby voice to open up the phone?
In California, we can't use the phone while driving. I want to access the phone with voice using Bixby voice command to call someone in case of emergency without pulling to the sideroad to touch the phone.

I don't like to use any type of phone assistant (I do use and love my Echo/Alexa, though), but I'm going to use Bixby to get those points, too.
not had any issues unlocking my phone with bixby - the voice password thing works extremely well.
man bixby briefing, voice unlock, opening apps... all that ish works just fine!
i used to use the IFTTT but now with action commands, i dont need to do this. I just say "hi bixby , office" and she does exactly what i want her to do.
she is even smart enough to know if some of the actions i ask her to do are already set. she will say "hmm seems you are already using that.."
so, i have no qualms about this skirt.. :fingers-crossed:

"Hey Google" on Note 8

I'm just curious why the Note 8 has to use only OK Google and can't use Hey Google for waking up Google assistant. I really liked it when the option became available for my Note 5. Now its gone.... is it maybe because of Bixby? Doesn't seem like it would be the reason because we had S voice on the note 5 and they never conflicted.
I don't remember the option to be able to use "Hey Google" instead of "Ok Google" on my Note 5. But then again I never really used Google Assistant.
I just looked at my Note 5, I don't see that option, was that able to be changed using the Retrain Voice Model option? If yes, that option is still there on my Note 8, just in a different menu.

Yea its aggravating. Too bad it couldn't be like the gear s3 and train it to wake up on whatever command you want.
I'm following this thread... I was thinking that the 'hey google' option was now available with the upgrade to Android 8.

Nope. Irritating.
@Venom0642 do you have any idea why there's no option to use the hey Google wake up command for Google assistant on the note 8. Makes no sense to me. It's a more advanced device yet somehow it can't handle that?? Yet the Note5 could?

You should be able to. However I'm using a Pixel 2 XL that might make a difference
I'm guessing it's because they don't want it confusing "Hey Bixby" or their marketing team think they need to keep some sort of distance between the two assistants.

Well....it worked with Svoice just fine. The wake up command for Bixby is "Hi Bixby" which can't be customized either. Which is also a step backwards from Svoice, because I could set the wakeup to anything I wanted on my Note5.

In the same boat. After some stumbling here and there, I guess this option is device specific and only enabled or available on certain "select" devices which allow or would prompt to install the latest limited version of g-assistant.

Surprising to see Samsung Note 8 being a dominant white elephant in the room is casually ignored.
Even Samsung guides us to use the "Ok google" hotword as of now

The s9 recently got the "hey google" as a wake up command..... so here's hoping it comes soon since the note 8 follows the s9 in some respects.

Just fyi, I've finally got the hey google hot word to work. I'm on CRJ3 currently. I had retrain the voice model. I tried just saying Hey Google on the last two and now it works great.
