Recently I've noticed that the outer side of the sim tray of my Mi Mix is pressed in on one side. I'm not sure what is causing that effect. The first time I used the sim key, it took a certain amount of force to push down. Also, when i close the sim card... It doesn't close right away. I have to apply pressure on the indented side in order for the SIM tray to go in properly. Has any one had that problem?
The SIM tray key hole side is raised.

Not here, has the phone been taken apart before?
I didn't notice the the tray's placement until recently. Where the key ring slot is place, it feels rigid when closing and opening the tray... And it is not until the day before yesterday when placing the phone on its side.. the tray sort of curved. Now i know why one side is more rigid than the other. Its brand new actually, had to talk to the seller of the device and told me that they are going to send a new sim tray.

If you remove your sim card and look closely, there is a tiny switch that would normally be covered by your SIM. What does it do??? My manual says nothing about it.
I'm not sure but i think anyone here has written that if the switch is in one position you can replace sim card when device is on and on the other position device powers off if you try to replace sim.
The second is the normal position.
But i'm not sure
Can anyone Verify?
I flipped the switch just to see... and BAM, now my Tilt has 3D graphics acceleration! (j/k)
In all seriousness, I did flip the switch, but the SIM door will not close with it in that position. If you look at the SIM flap, there is a little metal piece (looks like an upside down U), and the switch fits snugly between the metal lines when in the original position, allowing the door to close and lock.
its a switch to replace sim
when you open the sim cover that little microswitch turns off the phone thus stopping it from getting problems with sim issues.then when you pop in a new sim and lock the cover the phone turns on and boots up.
just like o2xdaexec said its used to shut off the phone when your removing the sim card
... and ...
... and that little switch is why almost all of the "how to flash" guides contain an error.
Many of the guides, including "HardSPL v3.07, v3.28, v3.29 and v3.56 by JockyW", contains a step calling you to "remove SIM card" in the middle of a series of events. These guides never point out that it will immediately cause your phone to turn off, which can result in many a skipped-heart-beat by someone in their first flash (which is why they are following the steps to begin with).
... Sigh.
so you dont actually need to open then
I started having those msg's all of a sudden, although the door is locked.
The phone will not start coz while booting the msg appears that the sim door is unlocked and shuts down after 10 seconds.
Doesn't matter if the sim card is in or not.
I unplugged sim tray holder slot and the phone works perfectly fine.
Should I try to replace SIM TRAY HOLDER SLOT with the new one or it will not solve the problem ?
Is there anyway to fix it ?
any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Dmitry

I am trying to figure out which part of the SIM slot is responsible for detection of the open/closed door, so that I can try to fix it...

Look where the lock toggle engages underneath and there's a microswitch. It is possible for the toggle to not engage correctly with the microswitch underneath (the pin neads to fit into the gap in the microswitch rather than to one side of the gap). Have a careful look and move the microswitch independantly of the lock toggle and you'll see what I mean.

Thank you so much for your help.
You are correct about the micro switch. It is so tiny that I couldn't see it.
What is more it looks like the part of the switch that is supposed to be outside so that the lock toggle moves it, is broken.
I had to take a needle to move the switch that is inside.
Unfortunately I purchased a new sim slot on ebay yesterday. Will see if I can cancel this transaction
(I did cancel the transaction, the Chinese seller was very polite and asked me only to reimburse him for E-bay transaction 1.2$)
Once again thanx for your help !
Regards
Thanks for sharing this.

Okay so my girlfriend wanted to switch from the icult and wanted to try out my old phone. She has an iphone 5 and while I was making an adapter for her sim card with the correct sim tray she was messing with the phone and decide to try and put her sim tray in. She didn't jam it in all the way so the sim contacts should *hopefully* still be fully intact but one of them seems to be simply stuck on the tray. Could anyone give me some info on where exactly the sim contacts are and the little pin lock things that hold the tray down. Also if anyone has a good idea for something to slide in behind it to release the pin that's locked on please share.

you could try cutting a screen protector to the right size and sliding it under the card. make it 3 or 4 pieces thick
Do you know which side of the tray locks on? Which side do I need to slide it behind, the side towards the screen or the side towards the back of the phone?
My G5S Plus's volume button wobbles slightly, but works fine. Is this the same for everyone else, or is it common and should be fine?
anybody? power button just wiggles

It's very slightly loose on my phone too and wiggles in upwards and downwards (i.e. towards the screen and towards the back of screen) but I don't think it is a problem as I don't feel it's gonna wear anytime soon.
If you think it's really loose for your phone, get in contact with the service center.
Btw similar is the case with SIM card tray for my phone.

Yup, just a slight wiggle. Just wanted to check if it occurs in all units or if it is unique to only my unit. Should be fine
My promotional 128gb SD card came today but I had an issue when I went to install it on my Note 8. It seems that the expansion tray on the top side of my phone refuses to open. I inserted the key that came with the phone.... nothing. I inserted the key and applied a little pressure.... nothing. I inserted the key and wiggled it a bit.... nothing.
I'm afraid of applying too much pressure and damaging the phone.
Does anyone have a fix?
Thanks
Edit: Nevermind I fixed it myself. As it turns out the plastic pins that came with the SD Card weren't strong enough to unlock the tray, they bent when I applied pressure.
The metal key that came with the phone is what I used to open the tray. It does require more pressure than I expected, but it worked.
