Hello!
I am looking for something that does not seem to exist. I registered here in hopes that the brilliant minds of XDA might be able to offer me a solution.
I want Bluetooth hands-free calling on my desktop PC.
Let me explain: I work in my garage. I use my garage PC as my only music source. I use it for email and web stuff too, of course, but its main job is providing a streaming source for music from the server in my house.
When I am working and my phone rings, I cannot hear my phone. Tablesaws and routers and sanders are noisy, and the music is blasting.
What I want is the same thing my $200 car stereo does: mute or pause the music and announce the caller ID through my speakers. When I am done with the call, resume the music.
Seems simple, doesn't it? I have been googling this for quite some time. No answers anywhere, it seems.
If/when I push the button to answer, I want to use a microphone and my speakers to talk on the phone...simple as that. Yes, I know, there are a hundred ways of doing this other than my PC (stream to tablet, BT to tab, tablet to stereo, etc.) but nothing is going to live very long in all this sawdust (including my PC, but I don't care) so the goal is to have to buy nothing but a BT dongle and some software.
So...since I work on stereo stuff for a living, the stuff you guys do is a complete mystery to me, but I know what I want.
Does anyone know of an app that does this? If not, it seems to me that this would be a fairly marketable thing, does anyone have an interest in developing this?
Thanks for looking, and hope you have some brilliant answers for my dilemma.
Thanks!
Luke Fisher
well if you plug your phone into the speakers and play music of it like Pandora or even download your own music. Then when you get a call the music will stop and your ring-tone will play through the speakers till you pick up the call or miss the call.

Yes this is true, there are no cross platforms apps that really do what you want. This will happen probably in the next years it has to do with getting the platforms to work together.
I looked into this a couple of months ago, I did find a work around if you want to operate in linux........ then you can get the phone and computer to work together but then you are doing your own custom programming...... and you just want an app sounds like you do not want to be the programmer
Maybe someone else knows more and chime in............

Linux? Isn't that Charlie Browns best friend? Has a sister named Lucy, right?
Guys, my phone is a POS, ain't gonna go there at all. Samsung Instinct S30, until I find what I need a phone to do I am not giving up any money at all.
I know I can connect a cell phone to a PC with nothing but a simple BT dongle, but getting it to pause the music is the tough part.
Maybe I will just get another JVC KD-R900 and use it for shop tunes. I could run the shop stereo from it, just use the AUX in on the JVC from the PC.
Oddly enough, I listen to full albums, often several from the same artist, so I have no use for broadcast radio, nor sattelite or internet radio, just full CDs on my hard drive.
Thanks for the input so far, guys!

Hmm... I have just done something similar with my phone.
Here's the setup:
You'll need:
1. A hi-fi system
2. An Android phone (any would do, but some of the apps in Andriod is critical)
3. 16-32gb sd-card
4. Bluetooth dongle for answering phones
Plug your phone into the hifi using the stereo sound jack, and plug your phone into the charger. Play music straight from the phone, and when it rings, you can set certain music apps to mute the music while letting the ringtone through. I'm quite sure that the default music app from el Goog, does that well.
Hi Guys,
Have you used a new poweramp beta ? If yes maybe u have a problem like me...
At beta 501,502,503 after 2 calls, my microphone is broken u can hear only big *shhhhhh*, and my earphones broken too, Right channel is much silent than left... I made a support mail, waiting for request...
I downloaded it from here > http://forum.powerampapp.com/index.php?/topic/3189-poweramp-206-build-503/
Maybe you can help.. Or confirm (I dont wanna be alone)
I have bought poweramp unlocker, etc.
Soft u can see in signature, no root etc. All official
I have exactly the same setting and phone as you, also buy the key too. I got exactly the same problem. After i find out the problem, I use bluetooth to connect to the XL. The sound is adnormally small. At the beginning , i thought it was either the earphones or the earphone jack was dead, then, i reset the phone and going to send for service and found out it back to normal.
One additional situation is that, it will lead to the mic of the phone not pick up voice when answering call too.
I had a pioneer deh-x6700bt stereo installed recently that has Bluetooth and hands free wired mic that clips behind the rear view mirror. My son in law did the install for me and he works and mods all kinds of cars so I don't think it was the install itself.
Everything works except when I make a call people don't hear me speak and have to grab my phone and turn on the speaker on the phone to use. It pairs with Bluetooth fine using my music via my phone's sd card and pandora etc.
I sent pioneer and email and they sent me a new mic to install, but had the same issue. The phone I'm using is an AT&T S5 on rooted 4.4.4
Wondering if anyone else has had issues with pioneer systems and found a fix.
Ha, Ha 45 views and nuttin? I figured someone would have something to say on the subject.
Tomorrow I will have some time to play around with it and use my wife's unrooted S5. Also borrow other phones to see if they work.
I have a feeling it's a setting within the radio itself (I hope). I'm not ripping it out if I can't get it to work. It is what it is.
The only thing i can think of is you do not have the phone paired proper you should see 2 profiles in your Bluetooth one with a headphone next to it and ine with a telephone reciver next to it for the same unit

Thanks for the reply rurigokou. I actually do have the two profiles synced.
I tried everything and have come to the conclusion it is a problem with the head unit itself. I called best buy and the manager was very gracious and is going to have a tech do some diagnostics on the unit for me.
If they find a problem I'm guessing they will switch out the unit, since that is where I purchased it. I have studded tires on the front of the car and have to grab others for me to take it in (here in Oregon the tires need to be changed early this year cause of the good weather , March 30).
Thanks for the reply rurigokou.
I have exact same issue
Gonna try new mic
Is there someone who could test the compatibility of the P20 Pro extensively with Android Auto? I suspect the general incompatibility (waze, Google music, in call screen,...) of the Mate 10 Pro is still not solved and till now not one review pays attention to this glaring issue. Curious if Huawei has solved this problem with this new phone.

Interesting. I'll listen here before buying, because I use Android Auto quite a bit, so if it doesn't work it's a no go for me.
Unfortunately the first feedback reports the same incompatibility as with the Mate 10 Pro.

I'm having issues connecting the phone to the head unit now with the android 8.1. It is telling me that there is a error code of communication error 6
This is diabolical, for such a basic functionality!!!
I am awaiting delivery of my P20 Pro, and was literally 5 minutes away from ordering an Android Auto headunit!
You have just saved me a lot of money... thanks!
Hopefully more people on here will be able to test.
For me, the only thing that doesn't work is Play Music. The progress bar moves but there's no sound. BBC iPlayer Radio and TuneIn Radio both work fine. No problems with Maps and phone.
It's poor at best, if you get it working leave it and don't touch anything.
Had a trip in partners Ford Focus - Sync 3 head unit, works fine with Pixel 2XL/XZ1 Compact but this just either didn't want to play anything or when attempting to read a message would give the error "voice commands not available at the moment" same when attempting to use voice commands as well. Once I did get it playing music and maps I just left it as I didn't want to break anything but still no voice commands available.
Looks like Google will be making Android Auto fully compatible with the P20 Pro. Looks like our phone is a big enough launch from Huawei to attract attention from them.

I'm using a P20 Pro. I have been using android auto in my golf now and everything seems to work fine. The only issues I am having are that I can make calls, but I can't see the phone call on the screen which means I have to use the steering wheel to hangup. When someone rings me I can't see it on my. Infotainment screen. Also can't see all of my contacts. Only my most recent. Hopefully there is a fix coming for this

Just received my P20 Pro yesterday, and just like my all previous Huawei phones (P9, P10, Mate 10 Pro) - it works with AA fine enough (only issue - call screen is not being shown).
It's barely usable...
Well it's my first Huawei phone (coming from an S8) and I'm a big fan of AA probably because of Waze...
Here are my remarks:
- Google Maps works from time to time
- Waze doesn't work at all, I have a black screen
- and for the audio it's impossible to switch between the apps and there's no audio
So unless you're using Google Maps extensively, I don't see why you'd use the P20 Pro with AA.
For those who are thinking how it was with an S8, well it was kind of a all or nothing experience. I've had periods where the phone wouldn't connect to AA and suddenly start working again.
I have also noticed that the cable quality is very important.
Android auto working fine for me. Only issue is the phone charges very slowly when connected. My one plus used to charge much quicker when connected to car head unit
Hello I've P20 and vw sportvan, no map (waze or Google maps)... I've black screen. No sound when I want to use Google music... I hope Huawei make something to solve this....
I have AA in a Pioneer headunit, working with a P20 Pro, I get audio issues with Google Play Music, waze works fine...
Got a P20 Pro and Android auto is working perfect in my Volkswagen Passat GTE. Been using it daily and everything works fine for me including Waze and Spotify
Skickat från min CLT-L29 via Tapatalk
Doesnt Work
Pioneer X8800BT headunit worked flawlessly with Sony Xperia Z5 Premium so it's not the headunit.
Waze worked for a hour or so with audio then this became a black screen. Google play music "plays" but no sound comes out. In the end I had to unplug the phone from headunit (which I paid good money for) and use the unit as a dumb bluetooth speaker while using Waze directly off the phone...
I think I'll be returning it and getting a Pixel 2 XL unless someone can give me hope that there is work being done to solve this? I don't want to root it just yet because my credit card / banking apps stop working.
Shame as it's an otherwise excellent phone - but this is a deal breaker for me.
From my point of view is essential to have a quality USB cable. Everything (Waze, Google maps, call screen) works seemly with original cable delivered with charger. With another cable work call screen only, Waze and Google maps shows black screen. With cheap USB cabel my mobil phone (Huawei P20 PRO) doesnt connect to car (Hyundai i30 2018).
yesterday an AA update hit the play store. anyone tried after that?

Yes, no substantial changes...
Hello Everyone!
So after changing from iPhone 8 Plus i bought an Mi 8 , brand new , and using Oneplus Bullets Wireless.
I've noticed that the Bluetooth audio is so low that i can hear others better, than my music.
De paired, re paired the devices, activated Absolute Bluetooth Volume, tried restating the phone, i made my region To India, tried everything what i can find on the web, but still no changes.
Is there any Kernel or Rom which removes this feature? I'm using the latest MIUI i would stick with the original Rom so a kernel fix would be great. If its cant be fixed by kernel can you guys link me a good rom to use?
Thanks.

Updated
I had this problem.
I downloaded R.E. equaliser from the Playstore.
Now my Bluetooth volume and speaker volume are great.
I used the presets but turned the gain up,that's all.
This is a great equaliser for people like myself who aren't rooted,a couple of pounds to buy but well worth it.

Bought the re equalizer and the issue of low volume is still there..
