As long as bootloader unlock is not available, no enthusiasts will have a look at this phone. Sorry. I have same experience with Asus tablet.

Isn't there a way to root this device yet?

Isn't there a way to root any version of this device yet? I can live without cyanogenmod or many custom roms but without root would be really tough.
There is root and cyanogenmod 12 for g800f and g800h.

I know about cyanogenmod but I'm wondering about root. Where are the posts about root? Can you post them here? I looked in the development and original development (as well as the general forum) and didn't see anything.
I used this method to root my SM-G800F:
http://androidxda.com/root-samsung-galaxy-s5-mini-sm-g800f
It worked very well
Sent from my SM-G800F using XDA Free mobile app

Thanks for sharing !
But i have one small question: do you need to unlock the bootloader in order for this to work ? Because they always say that in rooting tutorials.

Just unlock bootloader in Motorola's devices, in Samsung's devices no need it but your knox counter will trigger like unlock bootloader (warranty is void)

Yours is still a G800F phone. There shouldn't be any problem using the method suggested.

Wow thank you for the swift response! I'm sure you are correct, but my only concern is the bottom of the post containing the tutorial states its ONLY for a build No. different from mine. Again any further advice would be a great help! Thanks

I hadn't notice that. I guess you can ask in some chainfire specific forum or wait for someone that has rooted successfully with a slightly different phone model number.

I performed a software update when I got the phone a few weeks ago - does this change the build No? Kind of annoying if so, haha - as probably could have rooted with the method mentioned otherwise!
Anyway, thanks a lot for the advice I'll check in a Chainfire forum.
Cheers

Have rooted my phone now! :good: Found the info on another thread - it would appear that the root file I used (CF-Auto-Root-kminilte-kminiltexx-smg800f.tar.md5) is identical to the one mentioned in this thread - so in this case build No doesnt seem to matter. Cheers

[HELP] About rooting on locked bootloader

I found a file in a japan forum about rooting Xperia Z4. I tried it but failed. There may be a member here who can edit it so it can be applied to do the rooting. I do not really understand Android. I hope somebody wants to try the file I will upload below. thanks.
Read all of the forums for this POS phone and you will learn you cannot root it with a locked boot loader. If you could, there would be an article in big flashing lights on XDA.
Sent from my Sony Xperia Z4/Z3+ using XDA Labs
I found an option to allow unlock bootloader in developer options (OEM unlocking), you can try this to unlock bootloader

Hey mrmazak,
Thanks for your development and the support of this community with Dirtycow.
To clarify, are you seeing any exploits that could be leveraged in order to root and it will take more time for development, or is it just out of the question?
Thanks,
kvn101

Blu has changed preloader since v6.6. no access to preloader from sptf, so no flashing, no root
Thanks mrmazak,
Anytime sooner will there be root ?
No, there will not be root. The security holes have been plugged. The tools used to modify the phones have been blocked.
If you installed a recent over-the-air update, you are out of luck - no recovery, no flashing, no rooting. Period. End of story. Done.
Never accept an over-the-air update for a phone that you want to root or modify.

Wow **** blu.
Guess I'll just return it, you know, cause **** sales too!
Sorry, I am new to rooting with many of my phones and I am getting very frustrated at how many developers patch the root. I used to think Android was friendlier for root than iOS is for jailbreaking, don't think so anymore.
Is there a root friendly list of phones new you have on this forum up-to-date?
Sort of hard to buy a phone requesting from the seller to have the "right version" on it. Ex.) blu phone prior to v6.6.
Thanks.

it is possible to root V8.4 if you're already using a custom recovery with dirty cows v11

If you have custom recovery , then yes. The dirty cow part is only needed to allow bootloader unlock. So once it's unlocked and you have recovery , should be no problem to root
Trash talk lol, nothing is impossible just that you can't do it simple!.

No - device will brick with no possibility for recovery if downgraded below 5.4 (not entirely accurate but good enough).
Is there any known successful downgrades from 5.3.6.4 -> 5.3.2.1? It's not within the 5.4.x code base. I'm in the same situation, trying to determine a way to get to 5.3.2.1 from 5.3.6.4
Thanks,

You can't; nor is there a reason to do so. If root is desired follow the guidance in this thread.
