Ok, I know that maybe it's too early even to write something like that, but I would like to get your opinions/experience on this topic.
I have been using a brand new Huawei P20 Pro since the day before yesterday (Saturday). On that day, I unboxed the phone at around 5 pm (battery was 55%), and after installing the updates and everything, at 11:30 pm it was gone. I plugged it and charged overnight, then used it the next day from 10am to 11:30 pm, being quite happy about the battery usage (it was 40% yesterday evening). This morning I switched off the airplane mode at around 9, and suddenly started to notice that battery usage was different, like the phone was dropping 1% every 2 minutes just scrolling on Facebook or browsing online. At 4 pm, battery was 16%, and after 1 hour without using it, it was 4% and phone shut off.
As I told at the beginning, I know that it's probably too early to worry, but have you noticed anything similar on your devices?
Thanks!
Almost no problems here. I've had mine for around two weeks and so far its battery life has outperformed all my previous smartphones (various Samsung models).
I did say almost because there was one day about a week ago where battery was dropping a fair bit quicker than usual, though nothing nearly as dramatic as what you described. If I remember correctly a charge and a restart fixed it. I've had similar experiences with my past phones once in a while, so I'm guessing an app or the OS itself runs wild sometimes?
If your problem persists then you might have a faulty unit of course.
Thanks for your answer...
This is my latest battery usage. I charged the phone to 100% yesterday and unplugged it at around 8. Now it's at 5%. What worries me is the fact that this afternoon, while screen was on, battery dropped about 1% every 2-3 minutes...
Current SOT is 4h 33m. I mean, that's okay, but so far from the incredible results I've read on the Internet (people posting pictures of 6-7-8hrs of SOT). Stats don't seem to report anything unusual: most consumption comes from WhatsApp, then Telegram and Facebook.
Have you ever experienced something like that on your device? I read on another thread here on XDA that people noticed a better usage of battery after a week... Should I wait before worrying?
Thanks.

I haven't been keeping a close look on battery use until now, and I haven't done any screen on-time tests.
I just checked my current stats in the system battery screen and from the Ampere app (and I just installed AccuBattery now that I'm curious) and when I put on charge now I still had 64% battery left after almost 17 hours of use and three and half hours of screen time.

That's amazing... Mine is nothing comparable to this. BTW, it looks we're on different builds. Which version are you using?

Have you found a fix to that? I'm getting 4-5h SOT MAX with WI-Fi ON, Data ON, Instagram usage, facebook, viber, messenger... Always on Display, face recognition.
Shut down always display

I have had my Nexus 7 (16gig) for a week now, bought it at a local Sam's. Overall I love it. My one complaint is a big one:
The battery seems to drain as fast when the tablet is put to sleep and when it is in use with the screen at 100% !
I powered up the Nexus 7 at about 11am this morning and the battery was at 100% after a full nights charge. I used it to read for about an hour then shut the screen down. It was undisturbed until it about 10:30pm and the battery was completely dead would not even display the charging icon, let alone boot up for about 5 minutes after put on the charger?
Do I have a defective unit or is something not set right? It is still stock 4.1.1.
My Kindle Fire had amazing battery life when in sleep mode, like more than 24 hours.
Cen5
either defective or an app chewing it up.
My battery life is brilliant. I charged it up on Sat afternoon, took it off charger at 5pm. Didn't touch it again until 11am on Sunday morning -- 18 hours sleep -- and came back to it with 93% battery, This sleeps well, unlike my Xperia S
The only complaint I have about he nexus is also battery life, although nowhere nears as bad as the op, it's not even close to the iPad, which I can leave on standby for a week and come back to with plenty of life left, i'm lucky to get 3 days of standby on the nexus.
a lot depends on what you have syncing in the background and what settings you have. I don't use social media accounts much at all and as a result am not logged into them or syncing them. When I shut off the screen I have very little battery drain at all.

Saturday night, I had 54% battery life when I went to bed. The next day, morning , I had 53%. Went to work...left it at home, came back 5 hours later 49%. Used it for a ittle while Went to see the dark knight, came back, 44%.
Now its at 10% after a few hours a constant use.
set your N7's wifi policy to "OFF when Screen is Off". i bet a dollar it helps.
Sounds like an app or something is keeping the system awake. Check battery use settings. Has lots of useful information like keep awake time for different apps and stuff. Not perfect but gives an Idea.
I like to use the app "Batterysnap" so I get real time tracking for battery level, voltage, temp etc and I can view it in a nice graph.
Might want check out Google wallet, sounds dumb i know. My battery seemed to drain more in sleep one day, went into Google wallet (this was an issue on the nexus s early on). Even though i had already set it up the app acted like it was never opened, and would sit there trying setup for first time use and would hang at loading the tos.
Might be in my head, but the device drains at a respectable rate now

I had the same issue on my HTC HD2 running android, turned out it was an app that was running in the background keeping the GPS radio on and searching for a sat lock, disabled it and fixed the issue!
just check your battery stats and see what's keeping the CPU churning.
Mine was losing 1% per hour until I uninstalled facebook and turned off GPS.
I have FB and GPS on mine and only used about 2% overnight last night (about 8 hours).
I had mine on standby for nearly 12 hour and it only lost 1%. I had WiFi and gps turned off. I don't know if this is because I rooted it or not.

Had mine nearly full charge, went on vacation monday, came back saturday and the battery was 68%. Pretty impressive if you ask me.

I'd you aren't using NFC, try disabling that in settings as well.

Left mine at 99% last night. woke up to it at 98%. battery life is great for me
My battery isn't anything like the OP, but I am a little disappointed in the standby power use coming from a Nook Color running CM7. With just the wifi policy set to "off when the screen is off", it would lose about 2% per day. My Nexus 7 loses about 10% a day with me going in and disabling location services and wifi. That isn't awful but you know what's better than 10%? 2%. I thought the Tegra 3 companion core would actually keep the sleep power usage the same between the two devices.
Better Battery Stats shows that even in airplane mode (which grays out the NFC check so it should be off) NfcAdapterManagerImpl is waking the CPU, about a minute for every hour of sleep. If you don't use airplane mode, then the ConnectivityService uses power too (even if Wifi is off). Finally, if you don't disable all the location stuff NetworkLocationActiveCollector and the associate subservices such as CheckinsNotificationService also eat some battery.
By far the worst potential offender is com.google.android.apps.wallet.pin.PIN_EXPIRATION_SERVICE, which can hold a wakelock for hours at a time that drains the battery at two percent per hour.
Like I've said, the battery life isn't terrible (unless the google wallet service stays running), but it certainly could be better. Battery life while actually using the device is fantastic and I love it.
airplane mode...
i just power off when i know i wont be using within 10 hours.
It really has brilliant battery life. Syncing to G+, Gmail, Facebook

Similar stellar results. Sips juice ever so slowly
Hi,
I just recently purchased a "new" Moto X from eBay. I've been trying to calibrate the battery, and it seems to be slowly improving, but the results are not what I was hoping for.
Day 1:
Battery drained from 100% to 70% in two hours of use
Day 2:
Charged 100%, left it unplugged overnight. Drained from 100% to 88% by the time I woke up. Could not make it throughout the entire day without having to supplement the charge by around 7:00pm. Minimal use.. maybe 2 hours of screen time, 14 hours on.
Day 3 (today):
Charged overnight. Took it off the charge at 11:00am. Battery remained at 100% until 11:30, and sporadically skipped 99, 98, and 97% and jumped straight down to 96%. It is now 3:04pm, and with light use I'm down to 65% battery. 1hr 40m screen on time, and 3hr 55 min on battery. View the 3 attachments for battery life information.
Is this normal, or is my unit defective?
Edit: I end processes as soon as I'm finished with them, I keep the screen on the bare minimum brightness, and I disabled most of the apps that I don't use.
Give it a few days and leave everything on auto. No need to close apps anymore and the battery saver setting is useless. The only things I toggle on and off are WiFi, Bluetooth, and NFC. Everything else is on all of the time. I use lux for brightness because I prefer brighter than stock.
Today has been an average usage day, no calls. Here is my usage

Battery life depends a lot on signal strength. I get horrible battery life at work because I can hardly get two bars to show. Great signal=great battery life. This doesn't apply to Wi-Fi connection because the signal does not have to travel that far.
Hope this helps.

Hi, I bought my moto g 2014 2 days ago, I bought it because I briefly owned the 2013 version and I had great battery performance on that device.
Yesterday, I got only around 2.5 hours of on screen time, I installed titan rom and today I got 3.5 hours so it did improve, but in the battery thread most people are getting 5 hours of on screen time so I know it can perform better.
Do you think is because the battery is still calibrating?
I have good signal most of the time so I don't think that's the cause.
When i bought this phone i had similiar battery life at first time. I would recommend you to wait at least a week, 3-4 battery cycles. Now I'm getting about 4,5-5 hours SOT on my XT1068 too.
Well, that gives me hope, I was surprised by how bad the battery was.
Hopefully a few more charge cycles will make it better.
I easily get 5hrs sot on 3g... Acceptable
I get 4-5 hours with WiFi on and 50℅ brightness, good considering its the same battery as the G 2013.

Same here. on lollipop i get 3hours of SOT while on kitkat i got 5+ hours easily.
Well, I actually got lollipop because the battery on my first charge was TERRIBLE.
I got around 2.5 hours.
Is everyone in lollipop experiencing the same battery life as I am then?
Wasn't lollipop meant to use a new technology to save battery?
I use my speakers on max/almost max volume for about 30 minutes, of which maybe 10 are with the screen on.
Do you think that might be the reason?
It seems like a lot of battery consumption for 30 minutes of music though.
I installed the captured OTA zip 5.0.2 XT1068 when i had 69% battery remain.. After a day i have 3SOT and 25% remain. Looks promising. Will report after few days.
I can only get like 2-3 hours sot 3g browsing and I'm using greenify and my brightness is one from the lowest....

So far everything about lollipop seems to make me want to downgrade to KitKat.
Better performance & battery on KK as far as I have seen.
Anyone knows how to set "Contacts to display" on this phone?
I have gmail, also add hotmail and yahoo and all contacts are displayed even ones without phone#.
Very annoying.
Any help on fixing this appallingly terrible battery life? :/
With me it apparently was an issue with google play services and data.
I turned off background data but smartlock is not working now.
Today is my first day with that turned off, I'll see how the battery holds up, but so far it's performing way better than before.
My battery drains when there's no wifi around too. . .
I'm glad you figured out what was the problem. I forget to mention you the app BetterBatteryStats which can help you find out which apps are causing battery drain. Btw. now I can confirm that I'm getting the same battery life on 5.0.2 like I did on kitkat, around 5H of SoT maybe a little more.
I only made screenshot's today, so here is my battery performance for today:
How did you manage to achieve that battery life? Do you use a very low brightness setting? I'm using auto brightness. Could that be the cause?
The best I've achieved so far is almost 4 hours.
I always use auto brightness, but wifi was on only when the screen was on too or maybe a little bit longer + about an hour of listening to music with headphones). I think I have a little bit better battery life than on kitkat.
You can try factory reset or BetterBatteryStats to see which app causing the battery drain.
Looking good, just like kk
please help me fix the battery life on lollipop
Can someone please tell me how to fix battery life after upgrading to lollipop? I use to get 4 to 5 hrs of SOT on KK now its lucky to make it to 2hrs.
Try wipe the cache or factory reset!
I've had my Moto G (2014) for a week now and have gone through quite a few full battery cycles now. Still on kitkat 4.4.4. Rooted.
I am only able to get 9 hours of use daily with 2.5 - 3 hours of screen on time.
My brightness is set at 60%. I may listen to music about an hour a day while commuting. I don't really talk on my phone much, I mean really, I don't (10 minutes max on a talkative day). Between 20 - 50 SMS messages each day. about 1 hour in total of social media stuff a day.
I don't use GPS at all, I have it turned off. Wifi is on so I can use wifi at home and work.
Any ideas on getting my battery life up to around 12 hours a day?
Can anyone help? In having issues with the battery. It drains like no other. I'll pick up the phone right off the charger at 99 or 100%. Use it for a few minutes and it will be down to 75%. No idea what is happening here. Nothing seems to be running the background and even if it did, it shouldn't be using this much battery I'm just a few minutes.
Thanks
Have you tried looking at your battery stats? Try BetterBatteryStats to glimpse at what's draining your battery.
Everything looks good there. I think there may be s glitch somewhere because I don't see how it is possible to use 25% of battery in a few minutes even with extremely hard usage.
I'm using chrome to read the news right and at the same time watching the battery. After s few minutes of reading the news, the battery jumped from 97 to 93 and immediately to 91. Then every 20-30 seconds it lost a percent.
I also noticed that the total battery usage time changes also. I took the phone off the charger, 10 minutes later, the battery stats shows that it has been on for 1 hour and 50 minutes. I waited a few more minutes and it shows that the battery has been on for 1 hour and 43 minutes.
I don't know what is going on here.

May I see the list of the apps which you're using? And always do remember LTE is a big time battery-sucker and it seems you've also turned on the location service
Don't have the list yet. Just did a factory restore and unrooted the phone. Didn't download any apps, phone is just like out of the box. Same issue is happening. Used the phone to make 10 minute phone call and battery went from 100% to 47% immediately.
Have you tried leaving it plugged in to charge beyond 100%? Like when it gets 'full' just leave it plugged in and trickle charge for a while and unplug.
Something is definitely being reported incorrectly if you can burn 20% of your battery in a few minutes.
I have a similar issue with a nexus 4 I play with. It jus discharges super fast even when it's off.
It lasts maybe like 4 days powered down.

Hi everyone, first sorry if my english is bad.
Here is the thing. I just bought LG watch urbane w150. First boot was very long, about 2 hours of syncing. After getting it to 100% charge and all Android wear updates, I started using it. After about 14hours my battery was at 70% and I was very happy, but then... It turned off... First tought was, ok..maybe I was accidentally pressing power button... But no, he was dead. Battery was dead.
So can someone explain me what is that? After 14hours of usage battery draind to 1% in allmost 2mins. Oh and yes, after 2 hour of charge he at 2%.. Sorry I can upload any of screenshots because I'm new here.
Any help?
Thanks in advance.
P.S. I'm running Andorid 5.1.1. on my Sony Xperia Z3 compact.
This happened to me to on first use. I charged it again, it took a lot longer, it stayed on 2% for half our. Since then its working as it should.

Same exact thing happened to me on first use. It got down to about 40-50% then it turned itself off. I watched it while it charged and it took an hour or two to get to 5%, then it instantly jumped to 100%.
The same thing happened to me... I receive it at midday today and I was setting the clocks, installing apps.. etc. Last time I checked the watch was at 84% battery. After 1h or so... the phone rebooted itself and then showed me that I have 1% battery.
I thought some of my apps (watchmaker) caused a massive draind and I entered settings and restore it to factory deffaults.
now is in the charger .. showing 1% after 1h in the craddle.
Shall I return this bad boy... any chance to happen again in the next days?

I would return it. After an hour, you should be nearly full. I have location on, 2 emails, 2 twitter accounts, Google plus all syncing with heavy use of replying to texts and alarms and I'm at 69% 12:30am here. 2 months running with this guy.

The last Android wear update app is no good either. Uninstall and reinstall this one.http://www.apk4fun.com/apk/73727/
Same situation here, after start all updates connecting to phone ect battery lvl goes down to 78%,
when checking after 2h it was 74% but watch switched off suddenly.
Started charging and it goes from 0% but v.slow, after 2h 5% but then after 10min shown 100%
strange now is 98% but will obserw why and what is wrong.

Had the same "problem" today.
Brand new watch received 2 days ago and fully charged by myself at 100% before use. (Watch was off during the night)
Wear battery stat has been installed at the first start. Allready have this app installed on my phone (had a Sony SW3 before)
As you can see on the screenshot below, LG Urbane switched off at 17h today with nearly 27% battery level.
Started charging at 18h30, was very slow going from 1% to 7% and then jumped to 100% at 20h00
Maybe due to the 1st full discharge and 1st battery calibration.
