Bricked and no way to get into fastboot - P8 Lite (2017) Discussion

Hello everyone,
An OTA update failed and it bricked my PRA-LX1C432.
Since then, it refuses to boot to fastboot, any other method fails.
Is there any way to get into fastboot with a special buttons combination, or even with test points?
Thanks!

Which method(s) did you try already?

when your device is off just run the adb on pc prepare your usb cable. just push 2-3 seconds the vol down button while you pushing plug the cable to the device it will open the fastboot.

Hi z1rqdym,
What does that means: "run the adb on your pc"?
Thank you

[Q] Format too much. Android gone and sdcard empty

Hi,
I did a stupid thing today I wiped a lot of things in recovery. Now Android is gone and my sd card is empty.
I'm using ClockworkMod Touch Recovery v6.0.3.1 for recovery.
Phone was unlocked.
CID: O2___102
fastboot is working but adb isn't. Probably because i have no android and can't check usb debugging mode.
Now i think the only way is to use an RUU. I relocked the phone and tried the following RUU's:
RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.7_Radio_4A.13.3231.27_10.31.1131.05_release_310878_signed
RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_BrightstarUS_WWE_1.29.1540.16.exe
It gives me a customer error. Probably because it's an O2 phone. I didn't find an O2 RUU. What can i do?

Can you get into recovery though? Just sideload rom through USB OTG
1) no panic
2) can you access recovery? if no flash recovery again in fastboot -> turn phone off -> boot into recovery
3) in recovery you should be able to use adb comands (push rom to sd-card)
4) flash rom

I have to flash recovery again. Will CWM do? Where do i have to go in CWM to use adb?
Do i have to use this command? Adb push file.zip /sdcard
I can't shutdown the phone now so i have to wait till battery is empty. I can press power as long as i want but it hangs at boot now.

When you say it hangs at boot, do you mean it reboots then hangs at boot, or it just won't shut down? I would try plugging in to usb and then unplugging a couple of times (connecting to your pc), then try rebooting by holding power button. As soon as it shuts down, hold volume down and power back on to get to recovery.
Do you have a usb otg cable?

It hangs at white screen: htc quietly brillant screen. No reboots. Normally it shutdown if you hold power for 10 seconds but not right now.
Don't know about the cable. I have got the original micro-USB to USB cable. I use this cable also for fastboot

OK, well if you don't have USB OTG, do what Hansbert says.
You could use the all in one toolkit found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183942
Reinstall HTC drivers, flash clockwork mod recovery (if you're sure it's not there) and then you could use the "ADB sideload a ROM" found in extras.
Edit: he_stheone will sort you out....he fixes everything :highfive:

I did relock because i wanted to try stock recovery RUU. RUU failed and recovery didn't work anymore.
Now i unlocked bootloader again, and flashed ClockworkMod recovery again.
Try holding phone under bright light while holding power helped me! Thank you redbull123.
I'm now in CWM. Hope adb will work too.
*edit*
adb sideload found. adb devices command also works now. i'm going to try the adb sideload rom.zip command now
adb sideload rom.zip command works! I tried a custom rom 2 times but CWM freezes a couple of times so i had to start over. The third time it says rom is succesfully flashed
I can confirm now after reboot it works. Thank you all so much for your quick replies.
Nice to hear that

Does NRT give you an error when it tries to reboot into bootloader? Another reason to stay away from toolkits, but that is another debate for another time. Have you tried manually running the ADB commands to boot into fastboot? Do you have access to a computer with Android SDK installed?
Not sure what you want to do in bootloader. Recovery makes more sense to me. Flash a non-force encrypt kernel, format userdata and you're away.
From a command prompt / termina (whilst booting and connected with USB cable)...
Code:
adb reboot recovery
or
Code:
adb reboot bootloader

Yes, tried manually commands before use toolkit, no luck "device not found", drivers are ok, device visible in Device Manager as MTP, before this "unsuccessful" flash works like a charm. And then is no way out, when device is on it show encryption message and still no luck with ADB. Maybe some script that override ADB and took me into recovery/bootloader??

Adb only works if the device is booted up or in sideload mode in recovery, fastboot works in fastboot/bootloader mode. Is/was the device recognised as a adb device when you typed `adb devices`in cmd?

No, it's not appear in "adb devices" on any process of boot, but Windows recognise in Device Manages as "MTP USB Device" even when phone off and connected via USB

I can't get my computer (Win 10) to recognize the phone. In device manager it shows up as (Device descriptor request failed). When I open the Motorola Device Manager, it searches for updates and comes up with "There are no updates for your device" Current version: N/A.
Ok, so I put a pry tool between the power button and the screen to try to remove the back to get to the battery/button. While pressing into the power button the phone restarted! I guess it was enough to trigger the button.
Thanks for your help, I'm still going to try to get fastboot and adb working, might be easier now that phone is booted up.

Nexus 6 7.0 broken screen not rooted - need to backup data!

Hi, so my phone's LCD and glass are broken and there is no display nor is touch working but the phone is on. I don't want to spend any money on it for replacing the LCD. It's on Android 7.0 stock, not rooted and everything stock and Wifi and USB debugging is NOT enabled although there is no lock code on the phone. I need to transfer my data to my pc (and no internal SD files are backed up in my Google account) but when I connect my phone to my PC, it doesn't show any files as i need touch to enable file transfer mode even though it recognized the nexus 6. Now i have 2 questions.
1. How to backup/transfer all my data? (preferably an alternative to the OTG mouse and HDMI solution since i can't find it easily in my country and can't order from amazon/ebay etc to my country).
2. How to reset the phone completely if i want to sell it to someone?
Any help would be highly appreciated on this matter...

I hate to say it but your getting them by replacing the screen. Without root or adb debugging you won't even have access to the directory or be able to issue the device any commands.

Maybe if you have it connected to the device the Android device manager. I disable it myself so can't say for sure. Other then that. No you are not gonna be able to. I really would just replace the screen. Not only will you learn something but you will be able to get all your stuff as well as the sale value will be higher.

ok so i've downloaded a fastboot compilation and i need to use fastbook device to check if nexus 6 is in fastboot mode and fastboot -w to wipe. I tried turning my phone off but i think it doesnt turn off until you press the power off button on the screen, even if you hold the power button longer. so ill let my phone fully discharge so it turns off and then charge it a bit while its off and then try to turn it on in fastboot mode by pressing volume down and power and then enter the commands. seems right?

Yup, if you plug the phone into PC before booting into fastboot, hold vol- then hit power button, while in your fastboot directory on PC, hold shift and right click mouse button, then click open command prompt from here. Then type: fastboot devices this will then tell you on PC if phone is connected and ready to receive commands. If it returns your phones serial number then proceed with the commands
If you hold power button to reboot phone, as soon as phone vibrates hold the vol- key and it should put you into fastboot mode

Need help to relock the Razer Phone 2 bootloader.

Hi, Im kinda new to this bootloader thingy. What happen is, i updated the razer phone 2 to Pie, but notice wifi and sim card cant be detect. Even factory reset fails. So i thought of flashing new image on it. KINDA easy on my oneplus, but im not sure where I gone wrong on this razer phone 2, i accidentally unlock the bootloader. NOW the problem is HOW to relock it back? i been follow all youtube and guides all over the place but still fails.
The state of device atm, cannot be boot into Download Mode. Everytime I plug in usb c from Windows, it will boot into unlock bootloader warning page, and continue boot into the homescreen. testing the adbtools, fastboot also to no avail. Can anyone help and guide me how to relocking it back? Maybe i type wrongly on cmd or maybe other android steps not similar to razer one etc....:crying:help much appreciated.
Hold volume down while turning on. Then fastboot flashing lock.
the stock usb doesnt send things correctly in BL mode, https://www.amazon.com/Blackweb-3-Foot-Charge-Cable-Connector/dp/B07SG7P3KZ/ worked for me. with the correct usb cable you should be able to perform the lock commands correctly. can you give us more detail of what you tried on this phone so we know if we need to provide you additional information?

"Locking the Bootloader
Locking the bootloader is recommended for security reasons. Some applications will not work with an unlocked bootloader.
Start the Phone in Download Mode with one of the following methods:
Using the adb tool: With the Phone powered on, execute: adb reboot bootloader Enter Download Mode:
Plug in a USB cable to connect your Razer Phone to your computer, Power Off the Phone, then turn it on and immediately press and hold the Volume Down button until “Download Mode” appears on screen.
Lock the critical partitions of the Bootloader first by running this command: fastboot flashing lock_critical
Your Razer Phone will show you a confirmation screen. Use the Volume Up/Volume Down buttons for navigation, and press the Power button to select. Your Phone will reboot."
