Have they really removed double tap to wake? Huge dealbreaker when the fingerprint scanner is at the back of the phone.

Unfortunately Huawei removed it. Coming from LG G3 it took some time to get used to it. But the placement of the fingerprint sensor is very good indeed. I do prefer the back of the phone to the front.

If you have root try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-8/general/enable-double-tap-to-wake-t3312676
I haven't gotten around to root mine yet, so will update later if it works. I've checked the files though (you can read them without root, but not modify) and all the entries are there, so it's supported just not enabled. Seems Huawei disables DT2W by default on devices with fingerprint scanners even though support is there. Makes no sense to me, but it is what it is.
I have a long list of things I need to do once I have root

dt2w setting appears but after enabling it does not work.
This is bad news but I'm pretty sure there must be a way to enable it somehow Since support is clearly there.
There must a be reason why Huawei is disabling DT2W feature..
Probably DTW has been disabled in all their new smartphones with a fingerprint sensor (ex. Mate 8): is it not compatible with lock/unlock security?
AFAIK the Honor 6 Plus which has recently been updated to Android 6 keeps the DTW function, so apparently it's not related to Marshmallow.
The finger print sensor is actually fast and good.
And it is actually placed beautifully. Easy to use
True, but when the device is placed on a table and you want to check time there is only the power button.
In 80% of cases the FP sensor is fine. For the other 20% it would be nice to have the option.
Hai dear friend if you are ready to use third party apps then we can have a solution.
Try this app it just works fine in unlocking the screen by double tap.

On my H7 with B330 Digirom 4.2 I have dt2w.
Go to Settings -> Smart assistance -> Motion Control -> Double touch (at the bottom)
Edit: Sry guys, not sure how I came upon the P9 forum, thought I was in H7
This kind of apps not need a rooted device or something?
Missing dt2w is the only flaw of this phone... Really hope they do something about it with nougat.

Kinda. In most cases it's fine. It would still be nice to have the option. You know when the phone is laying flat on the table and you want to check time or notifications...

If your screen is always on, your Huawei P9's battery will die really, really fast. You don't want your screen to be always on because it is a non-IPS display panel.
i told you guys use application like wave to unlock and lock
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kimcy92.wavelock
it use proximity sensor to wake the phone,no battery draining.but be sure to choose in the settings "unlock only" option.working very good
I have huawei honar 5a (y6 II )
How to turn on double tap feature in this phone
I played with a P9 on display in a store last week, it did have double tap to wake.
I use ok google all the time to send texts especially when driving. frequently i am getting an error where she says
"actually, i can't do that while the device is locked" after unlocking with fingerprint it isn't recognized that the device is unlocked for some reason
it seems to be a MIUI problem as there is a huge thread http://en.miui.com/thread-274084-1-1.html
anyone know a solution?
also, one suggestion from Google is to just turn on Trusted Voice so that you can use the OK Google command when the device is locked. when i turn this on the OK Google command does not work and is not recognized no matter what screen i'm on let alone with the device locked
anyone ran into similar problems with the Mix?
I have a similar issue...If I disable lock pattern and then re-enable it it will work. A bit of hit and miss really. Would love a proper solution if there is one.

Same. I can't get it working from a black screen. My other devices will wake up and "listen". On the Mix, I have to activate the screen and then say ok google for it to listen. I did the resetting the lock screen and it did help get ok google to listen on the lock screen. So thanks for that.
I also have the same problem with the latest Google app but it works with version 4.92.16 except that I'm not able to use ok Google from screen off. I hope there's a solution to this
Not sure if i just haven't used OK Google enough yet, or if it has legit fixed the problem...but after converting google to a system app i have not run into this error yet with over 20 times using OK Google. we will see if it holds up.
did you have this problem before making it system app and went away after?
I figured this out.
Browse to Google App > Settings > Voice > "OK Google Detection" and enable "Personal results"
Kind of a workaround, since this allows actions when your device is locked, but works well for me.
I don't have that option for enable Personal results.
I only have
From the Google App
From Any Screen
Trusted Voice
While Driving
All four are enabled.
personal ressults has always been enable and still no joy.
I don't even have while driving.
Only three options.
I don't think it's a MIUI thing. It happens on my Google Pixel XL with the latest Nougat. Same message.
Our device can have upto 5 fingerprints. Does anyone know if there is some app that can lock the apps only with the fingerprint I specify.
Like for eg. I have 5 fingerprints of two different persons and I don't want the other person to unlock a specific app through his/her fingerprint.
Instead I specify that say that so and so app will be unlocked through Finger 1.
Is this even possible??

There's a feature called app locker in security and fingerprint and that allows to set up different apps to be opened only with fingerprint or other secured methods like pin password or pattern

I dont think any such feature exist in Android. I had this feature in my jail broken iPhone where we can assign different actions for all registered fingerprints. I am also looking forward to get this feature in Android .

I see no developer has replied on this thread yet. The feature does not exist but if iPhone can have it then Android can too.
Hope to see a skilled developer here who can make this possible.
Thank you
Since my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 N910C had been starting to develop issues, while I am in Hong Kong. Which was probably due to the latest OS updates. Or it could be due to the fact that my N910C doesn't support the use of LTE-A bands, which HK Cell Providers are starting to adopt. I decided to upgrade to the Note 8. I managed to find the Korean N950N model with 256GB of internal storage for an excellent price. The only catch was that they only had it in Deep Sea Blue and they didn't know when they would get the Midnight Black version back in stock. I bite the bullet and got it. The shop owner was nice enough to give me a slight discount. He also installed a case friendly screen protector that didn't work very well with the Spigen Tough Armor. It is not too much of a problem. Just that the part that protects the sensors pop loose from time to time. I am amaze at how fast the Note 8 running, it can handle anything I throw it's way like it was nothing. The placement of the fingerprint scanner isn't as bad as I thought it would be. The iris scanner is pretty good when I have my Note 8 positioned properly. I was able to transfer everything(except my UK Whatsapp account) from my N910C to my N950N using Smartswitch , which was incredible. The Secure Folder is useful for storing my personal files and apps, I managed to put my UK Whatsapp number in there.
The only downside is that some of the old S Note features are now gone! I can no longer take a picture and have it converted into an editable document like in my N910C. Which was a very useful feature, I guess that Samsung must have removed it.
You can install the old S Note app, search for it

I paid HK$5699 for my N950N, which converts to GB£518. Which is a steal! As the 256gb UK model of the Note 8 cost around £900

Tried it. But even that doesn't have the photo note function. Which is strange as the S Note app on my N910C has been updated to the latest version, and it still has the photo note function.
After installing the Oreo update. I noticed that one of my games Texas Hold'em Poker 3 no longer takes up the full screen when it loads. Even if I have the game set to fit the entire screen. Other than that everything looks the same. Except the Settings Menu has been brought up to the S9S series GUI. There maybe some performance increase but I didn't notice any.
Still rocking my N950N. Even after the release of the N960N. My N950N is still a beast. The camera quality is excellent despite being a single aperture lens.
Just installed the Android Pie update for my N950N. I have noticed that when my device boots up it takes a few seconds longer for the keyboard to appear for me to enter my password. Besides that everythings seems pretty snappy. I am not fond of the One UI. I prefer Samsung UI, which came with Nougat and Oreo. One UI seems way too cartoony. The buttons and icons for all the Samsung apps seem to be designed with kids in mind. I like that you can just use swipe gestures to navigate the device, which eliminates the need for navigation buttons.
I have also discovered that the game launcher doesn't include the stretch to full screen option anymore, which is a shame as that worked fir stretching games to full the display very well. Figured out how to fix this problem in the Settings Menu.
Just discovered that you can no longer disable Bixby once you have installed the Pie update onto the Note 8. :crying::crying:

But you can now remap the button to any app you want.
Now there is a option for a single press and a double press.
Just got the Bixby update.
edit.
Know I have Google search open up when I single press instead of Bixby and if I want Bixby double press.
But holding down the Bixby button will bring up Bixby voice command.
Have you tried a third party app to disable it?

Go to Bixby voice settings and tap on voice wake up. It's there, look at my previous post with screenshots you can set the option.
If not there update Bixby.
Now the feature does it like Google style with voice unlock. Meaning it just unlocks when you say "Hi Bixby" without asking you for a voice password.

This seems to be a known bug. It will most probably happen again, I updated the Google Play Services to the latest beta and now it's working for two straight days in a row, before, it would stop and go white every one to two days.
anyone got it working?
I've found the setting.
You'll need a launcher such as Nova or use Tasker to send the intent. If using Nova Launcher simply add an Activities widget and select MirrorShare from the activities list. This will create a shortcut on your desktop.
If you want to launch with Tasker send an intent with the following:
ACTION: android.intent.action.VIEW
PACKAGE: com.huawei.android.mirrorshare
CLASS: com.huawei.android.airsharing.player.DeviceListActivity
If anyone would rather just have an apk to do this hit thanks and leave a comment, I'll compile my task into an app and post it here. Cheers!
[EDIT]
MirrorShare is in the regular settings menu. Doesn't want to connect for me though it could be my TV.
I was asking about smartlock. Mirrorshare is working in my case with no problems

Also mine seems to be limited to Bluetooth conditions only, you may need Bluetooth turned on and paired with something to activate it. If anyone has the old area based Smart Unlock from nougat working I'd love to know. I've built my own version of locale based Smart Unlock in Tasker and it works great. I can dig out my tutorial if you're interested in going down that rabbit hole. I have downloadable links to the tasks/profiles so all the hard work is done. But it does require Tasker and either a little knowledge or willingness to learn.
That would be perfect

Here's the link. I've got a few projects in that thread and the smart unlock is the one linked. Simple download the project file and import it into Tasker. It works better than regular Smart Unlock imo just make sure to
replace the placeholder with your SSID. If you have any questions please post to that thread and I'll answer promptly!

Hm, looks like you're correct. Huawei is odd...
experienced the same issue, after a few days from when I started using the mobile phone, and the only way to get rid of it was to enter in trusted agents, disable Smart Lock, reboot the device, enter in Trusted agents and turn Smart Lock On again. The Smart Lock issue is reported on official google Forum since more than a year on different models (Search for "SOLVED: Smart Lock options missing " on Google Help Forum). As only TEMPORARY solution is reported the trick on Trusted Agents I reported. As I mention it is indicated as temporary solution, since many users experienced this problem again after some time. It is unknown whether someone of the Android Dev Team is working on a fix, or ever heard about it.
