I've followed so many tutorials and none of them have worked. They either need you to edit the files with a root explorer, which refuses to let me edit the files, or it will install and the driver won't work and the profiles won't load. I'm tired of having to reflash stock every time this installation goes bad. Has anyone been able to get this working?
I've used Viper4Android 2.6.0.4 (now at 2.6
0.5) successfully. It's an apk. Maybe give that a try.
I got tired of messing with flashables that can't be uninstalled if things didn't work (I don't use Magisk).

Forgot to mention, I believe busybox is (was?) required to get successful installation of drivers.

It won't let me install the driver. It says it installed, but when I reboot, it tells me to install it again. I have Busybox installed and SELinux set to permissive. Also, when you say you don't use Magisk, do you mean you don't flash things with it or you are not rooted with it? I was trying to root with SuperSU, but it didn't work.
Yeah, I have SuperSU.
Ugh, forgot that you're on stock. I have Viper on the custom ROMs. I'm on stock now so let me see if it works...
@doodalydoo, ugh, you're right, things are not working out on stock. I didn't have BusyBox installed according to my root checker.
Flashed BusyBox. Then the root checker decides it wants to crash. Uninstalled and replaced with another. The other root checker showed BusyBox installed but would not return version or applet info. Not good.
Regarding Viper, yep, it continues to want to install the drivers after each boot. I feel it's BusyBox related but not sure at this point.
I don't have this issue with the secondary ROMs. I rarely boot into stock and keep it plain so never noticed it doesn't play too well with extras.
Recently put Xposed on it as a test resulting in long boot up times. Boot animation and jingle are out of sync, too.

Several, actually. Viper, so far, on Xtended and GZOSP.
I didn't realize my stock was not Permissive. Even with the change Viper still failed.

Can you link me to the install instructions for those two ROMs you said V4A works on? Also, how are they compared to Lineage? The only custom ROM I've used is Lineage.

Install instructions for the ROMs are the same across most (full wipe, flash ROM, gapps, root).
GZOSP is a bare ROM and serves as base for Validus, Bootleggers, and Xtended.
I can't compare anything to LineageOS as I never use it.
I only tried Viper on those two ROMs. Will check the others today.

Well, I wound up installing Lineage, rooting with SuperSU, following this guide ( https://tinyurl.com/v4aguide ), and everything is working fine now. I'm not sure if following that guide would work on stock, but I'd rather have Lineage anyway.
Nice. I'll keep that link handy and try it out on some test ROMs.

I am considering going back to KK because I miss the audio quality of V4A.
There is a version of v4a made for lollipop on the nexus 5 called lolliviper. Its a zip that needs to be flashed, so we should be able to flash this using fireflash.
I didnt make a backup before I flashed 5.0 so I'm hesitant try it. Maybe someone is brave enough to try for us and report back?

I installed a variation of the zip that i got from the OPO forums, it added some libs and changed a couple files and also added the viperaudio apk to priv-app, like it says in the thread, but i believe it was on older version, regardless it said the driver installed, and the option changed to uninstall driver implying it was, but i didn't notice much difference(didn't have much time to test though, bricked shortly after, unrelated) you can give it a shot though, it should work fine just do the first zip attatched, maybe the second, it says in the thread though that you NEED a permissive kernel so it working is doubtful.

You are correct. I read the thread and regardless of how V4A is installed, the end result is the same. We need SELinux to be permissive which appears to be currently impossible with our stock kernel.

multisystem for android ( found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s5/help/qa-multisystem-android-t3101217 ) says it supports selinux permissive mode, so perhaps we can use this to flash a rom to a secondary slot, enable permissive mode with selinux mode changed apk, and then follow the lolliviper instuctions to get viper back.
Ton of work for little reward but I really miss having viper.
I will try this method if and when I ever get a day off

I have SELINUX permission changer still backed up. Installed it. Applied it. Moved the files to system. Installed the drivers...changed the build prop...froze the adapt sound and still no dice. To be honest I see zero reason to be on lollipop and will be downgrading this weekend back to Kit Kat. I miss viper, xposed, and battery life. Lollipop and material design is the biggest farce of an update ever foisted onto a user base since Windows Vista.

Why didn't I think of that dah lol. On the first try it didn't work ss gave me incompatible data so what I did was a factory restore from recovery then try to flash but incompatible data still so I manually wiped everything and reflashed lineageos booted the device then enabled in dev.options root and then reflashed and it finally went through it flashed and I have root :good:. Im gonna see if I can get either magisk or supersu working after I make a back up. If im able to get one of the two working then I will let you know.

ok, i redownloaded your zip then downloaded the su addon from lineageos and placed those files manually into system where they belong in the zip of the rom then opened up build prop and added the code line persist.sys.root_access=1 and then flashed. no longer need to dirty flash to have root. Fresh install works after doing those steps. Just thought id let you know for your next build.

Mod is for CM, AOSP roms with OS 6.0-7.1.1 . It compiled me from various sources, primarily ViPERAudio 5.5 Sony Beats Edition. As well as applications, libraries and configuration Sony. Mod has a fully working application Sony "Music" downloading data on a track and album. Also, equalizer, Xloud etc... I strongly recommend that after the first run and settings to make updates to the app on Google Play. You can also download others Sony apps

Is there a way to make it work with this rom, or the best is to wait that CM becomes more mature?

Try install the magisk version that doesn't work on magisk 14 and install the materialized apk then when it says to install the driver from the app you do it and reboot after you enable everything you want. That's how I got it to work on my s6 using lineage os 15 Oreo 8
What does this do?

Don't you mean "alienoidmod that doesn't work with magisk 14"?
I first want to start off by apologizing if this is posted in the wrong section/area.
My goal is to basically allow playing Pokemon Go, and using Android Pay on my LG G3 with root abilities.
I've gone ahead and installed Magisk, which was a bit of a process. My LG G3 is a Sprint LS990.
The process went like this:
Factory clean Flash using LG tool -> Rooted phone using Stump Root -> Installed latest TWRP (3.2.1-0) using Flashify -> then proceeded with root stock rom flash ( I did not flash modem in link )-> Installed Magisk using TWRP recovery.
It was a bit of a hassle, but it was installed. But now as title states, I'm unable to pass SafteyNet even with troubleshooting that is found around searching Google.
Info:
Android: 5.0.1
Kernel version: 3.4.0
Magisk v15.3
Any ideas on what I could be doing wrong?

Take a look at the requirements for MagiskHide to function: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73145989&postcount=5
This is a huge bummer. Didn't even realize that. Looks like I'll need to go looking for a replacement phone after all.

Google Play is checked off. I'm not too sure what you mean by certificate. But I figured a screen shot wasn't worth it as my kernel version isn't supported.
Requirements:
A Linux kernel version of at least 3.8

Since mine is only 3.4.0, there is pretty much nothing I can do with this phone in terms of having it rooted with those apps.

Why not flash a rom? Lineage will pass. Phone is not useless, just stock is.

I'm still somewhat new to the whole "flashing" / "rooting" devices. It's been a fun learning curve so far.
So flash Lineage using TWRP? Is there a guide I should be looking out for? Would be awesome if I could use my apps with this.
Maybe install safetynet fix module?

If they've updated the kernel, yes it might pass. But it's far from certain that they have...

It won't make any difference if the kernel doesn't support mount namespace.

Yep, wipe system, data, cache, dalvik/art. Flash rom, gapps and magisk. Backup everything you want to keep. Better check in your device's forum for specific instructions. It passes on my Sprint see who's last official update was KitKat, but has official lineage 14.1

Do you have the LG G3 from Sprint as well?
I'll remove magisk and try flashing the LineageOS. Anything special I should know afterwards? My current version on LG G3 is 5.0.1 // Lollipop. So should I factory reset and go back to KitKat?

No you don't need to go to KitKat. Lineage is nougat. The usual procedure is, Download the rom zip for your device, download gapps for 7.1 and magisk. Then boot to recovery, full wipe and factory reset, then flash rom, gapps and magisk.
Check here
And this post says magisk works fine and passes safetynet.
Have fun
I will give this a try and report back on results.
Thanks so much for the help so far!
Just giving a quick update that SafteyNet is now passing, and Android Pay along with other apps are working like a charm w/root.
Thanks again!
