It would appear that Samsung locked the SELinux to Enforcing but I was curious if anyone was able to get V4A working. I have been unsuccessful.

unsuccessful here too.
I am considering going back to KK because I miss the audio quality of V4A.
There is a version of v4a made for lollipop on the nexus 5 called lolliviper. Its a zip that needs to be flashed, so we should be able to flash this using fireflash.
I didnt make a backup before I flashed 5.0 so I'm hesitant try it. Maybe someone is brave enough to try for us and report back?

I installed a variation of the zip that i got from the OPO forums, it added some libs and changed a couple files and also added the viperaudio apk to priv-app, like it says in the thread, but i believe it was on older version, regardless it said the driver installed, and the option changed to uninstall driver implying it was, but i didn't notice much difference(didn't have much time to test though, bricked shortly after, unrelated) you can give it a shot though, it should work fine just do the first zip attatched, maybe the second, it says in the thread though that you NEED a permissive kernel so it working is doubtful.

You are correct. I read the thread and regardless of how V4A is installed, the end result is the same. We need SELinux to be permissive which appears to be currently impossible with our stock kernel.

multisystem for android ( found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s5/help/qa-multisystem-android-t3101217 ) says it supports selinux permissive mode, so perhaps we can use this to flash a rom to a secondary slot, enable permissive mode with selinux mode changed apk, and then follow the lolliviper instuctions to get viper back.
Ton of work for little reward but I really miss having viper.
I will try this method if and when I ever get a day off

I too have flashed the lolliviper using FireFlash
I have SELINUX permission changer still backed up. Installed it. Applied it. Moved the files to system. Installed the drivers...changed the build prop...froze the adapt sound and still no dice. To be honest I see zero reason to be on lollipop and will be downgrading this weekend back to Kit Kat. I miss viper, xposed, and battery life. Lollipop and material design is the biggest farce of an update ever foisted onto a user base since Windows Vista.

wp_mod (system write protection disabling) should not be included, it is a crude hack that can result in data corruption. If you're s-off you don't need it.

If the radio was updated the kernel was almost defintely updated. The updater will install new modules for the new kernel. If you're talking about wp_mod, you don't need it anymore if you're s-off. If you're not s-off, then it'd need to be hexedited to load on the new kernel.

I cant set the ownership correctly the owner is set to root but when I try to change the group to shell root browser spits back failed sometimes this isnt allowed on some file systems
is this a problem? other than the group security thing being able to get root that seems like a security issue? should I be worried?
Keep up the good work!
Has anyone had any problems while changing permissions? I keep getting "Changing permissions was not successful. Please note that some file systems do not allow permission changes."
Thanks
I'm definitely a lurker and don't post when I have nothing of value to add but I wanted to say thank you for your work. I'm running your build now and so far it's great.
I would like to see moaab ad blocking host files built in and couldn't you also build I'm the xposed jar file? I got it working with some effort but it did fight me a bit. Ending up having to clear the cache once I got it working to get it 100%.
Still though you should consider putting up a donation page. I don't have much money at all at the moment but would consider donating what I could.
Thanks!

I am also getting crashes in both of these apps.
I am using a different image (the first one to get xposed working), and I never used the device before rooting it so I can't say for sure what is going on. Annoying because cyanogenmod made the maxx camera about useless, so I was excited to have good hdr again on the turbo .
Any ideas as to why I only get half root? I can use SU in terminal emulator as well as achieve root in a few apps, but others like titanium backup, adaway, busybox just plain say the phone isn't rooted.

Which version of lollipop are you running?
The kernel you installed is for the wifi only version on 5.1.1.
You shouldn't need to install the kernel if you are on lollipop 5.0.2.
Samsung has not yet released the source code for the LTE models, however I am in the process of modifying the t810 kernel to support LTE which you are welcome to test.
I have built a 5.1.1 kernel for you to test. See if it fixes your LTE issue.

We're you able to get things working with root yet?
I have root. Because there is no source yet (as far as I know) I used ashyx's permissive kernel for the 810. I have no LTE. I do have a wifi tablet rooted on 5.1.1 with xposed running. I expect someday to get a kernel for 815 or 817 that will work with LTE. I hope.
I don't want to lose my LTE, lol. I'll wait. I'm sure there will be an option eventually.

Why do people never read or make backups before attempting to modify their device?
How many times does have to be said that before undertaking ANY operation that you fully understand what you are doing AND you have a full backup or the stock firmware?
If you are on 5.1.1 you first need to flash a custom kernel.
More info is required, what os build are you running?
I don't know witch os build I'm running. I'm really new at these stuff. I only did it to my two phones and I always follow the instructions here. As soon as I get home I can take a screen shot and show you.
It's quite likely your tablet is running 5.1.1.
You have 2 choices here, flash the custom kernel or flash the stock firmware.
Yes it's 5.11. I just call Samsung and my service provider they both will charge me for replacing the tablet.
Witch one is faster and more reliable. I don't think there's a custom kernel available already

Why do you need to replace the tablet? :what:
If you don't mind losing LTE until Samsung releases the source code for the LTE model then you can flash the t810 kernel below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-s2/development/kernel-permissive-lollipop-5-1-1-kernel-t3205831
Or return it back to stock by flashing the firmware below with odin:

All code changes needed for N Preview have been rolled into the BETA releases starting v2.71 BETA. This thread is now closed. If a new N Preview release comes out, or N Final is released, this thread may be re-opened. For now, proceed to the BETA thread!
OLD CONTENT
This thread is dedicated to SuperSU on N Preview. With the first few releases I'm not merging it directly with the BETA branch, as there have been some invasive changes under the hood regarding SELinux handling, and there should be a little bit more testing done before going there. Still, I expect this to be done within the next week or two.
I've only had the chance to test on the 5X so far, so there is some risk involved. If you're not comfortable reflashing everything due to bootloops, crashes, etc, wait for others to play the guinea pig.
RC-SuperSU-v2.70-20160314191951.zip
As this hasn't been merged with the BETA branch yet, I'm not updating the main CF-Auto-Root distribution either. But as TWRP isn't working yet on all N Preview devices either, attached are test CFAR versions.
Note that you are also welcome to flash this SuperSU version on pre-N firmwares, and report back if everything still works as expected.
If you have tried other methods of rooting, you need to at least flash back your stock boot.img before flashing SuperSU.
Depending on how much you have played around, reflashing /system may also be a wise move.
If you came from SuperSU v2.69, you need to reflash via TWRP or CFAR. Installing just the APK and updating binaries will not fix all the issues!

N6, RC-SuperSU-v2.69-20160313161431.zip through TWRP 3.0.0.1 seems OK. Testing in progress.
How are ya'll flashing? I can't get any version of TWRP to run on my N9, it just keeps restarting recovery, and I don't know what else I would try.
Can i flash it over phh cause i already root?

This thread is dedicated to SuperSU on N Preview. With the first few releases I'm not merging it directly with the BETA branch, as there have been some invasive changes under the hood regarding SELinux handling, and there should be a little bit more testing done before going there. Still, I expect this to be done within the next week or two.
I've only had the chance to test on the 5X so far, so there is some risk involved. If you're not comfortable reflashing everything due to bootloops, crashes, etc, wait for others to play the guinea pig.
RC-SuperSU-v2.69-20160313161431.zip
As this hasn't been merged with the BETA branch yet, I'm not updating the main CF-Auto-Root distribution either. But as TWRP isn't working yet on all N Preview devices either, attached are test CFAR versions.
Note that you are also welcome to flash this SuperSU version on pre-N firmwares, and report back if everything still works as expected.
If you have tried other methods of rooting, you need to at least flash back your stock boot.img before flashing SuperSU. Depending on how much you have played around, reflashing /system may also be a wise move.

Thank you @Chainfire! Does this root method reside in the System Partition, or is it Systemless. Also, do we need to type in adb commands in TWRP before installing to force Systemless installation?
Thank you again:laugh:
Hey Chainfire!
Just a few question again from one of your supporters
Is it possible to receive OTA's after rooting N with your method? Or is their another way (like for example via your app "Flashfire")?
And can you flash new preview builds over a rooted build?
Thank you in advance

Android N OTA`s - it`s full system images, so it doesn't matter your device rooted or not.

I tested and it works.
You will need root and BusyBox
Have not tested with other than stock kernel.
How to install
Turn off your phone and boot into recovery.
Once your phone boots into recovery, navigate to install section and select*“ViPER4Android_2.5.0.5_guitardedhero.zip”.
Flash it and restart the phone.
When the phone turns on go to Play Store and install a file manager with root access. The best one is ES File Explore and Total Commander.
Open the File Manager and go to*/vendor/etc.Find*a file named*“audio_effects.conf”.*Delete this file or save somewhere just in case you want to revert back.
Now open Viper4Android on your device, and install the driver if it’s required.
Wait for the driver to finish installation and reboot the phone.
That’s all! You have successfully installed Viper4Android on Android 7.0 Nougat.
Driver wont install. Says can't gain root access. Didn't get a pop up to give it root access. Any ideas? Well set kernel to permissive and got past that part. Now have error saying no BusyBox... It's installed..
RSVP
Nice and thanks

I have busybox on rails installed. Got the same 'no root access detected' warning, rebooted and found driver installed. Tested working with headphones.

Just installed this and no issues so far. David H. Lite Stock 7.0 with systemless root and stock kernel.
Keep in mind that the driver will not install unless you move that file out of the /vendor/etc folder.
I'm on stock 7.0 without root/busybox. Is there not a way to install everything in recovery? I unrooted to play Pokemon Go. They started doing Safetynet checks to login... Stupidest thing ever.
This is probably the most powerful upgrade ever. I can't wait to do my Tablet install in my dash. Btw for people having issues saying it can't detect the root or SU, you have to switch your kernel to permissive. Use Kernel Auditor-Mod.

Good point. That worked for me!
Just wondering if anyone has used FlashFire to install this zip?
Thanks

Go down to Misc. If it's not there, use This
Everything working 100% with factory image NBD90Z, SuperSU 2.78, Franco Kernel
If you switch to permissive anyway arise numbers 3.5 with dolby is a good choice too
I keep getting the following error: Driver install failed: I/O error, please reboot and try again. I am rooted, BusyBox, permissive selinux and on Tupac nougat, elemental x kernel, removed the file from vendor/etc. Any ideas?
