I'm considering buying a second hand Oneplus 3T but I read a lot of threads about the camera focus problem. Should I be worried about it? Is it something common?

What camera focus problem? I've had the 3T since Feb 2017, and no issue with camera focus. In that time, I may have read a few posts here and there, but nothing common, I would say.

Hi guys. I want to buy this phone but i`ve read a lot of comments about the camera starting to show purple/pink colour .. most people say it`s a hardware/overheating problem.. how can I now if the same thing will happen to my phone ? Is there any way to avoid it ? does it have to do anything with the product release date ? any kind of answers is welcome

The purple/pink color issue is definitively an hardware issue. Its caused by a bad camera sensor (Omnivision) on early batches. Mine is an Omnivision sensor but did not experienced the issue yet, even if know I will someday. So if the phone you want to buy is equipped with the Omnivision sensor, you'll probably have the purple issue. You can replace the sensor under warranty.

How can I check if it has omnivision or not ?

Sorry the bad camera sensor is the ST microelectronic vd6869. You should be fine with the omnivision or sharp model. You can determine which sensor you have by browsing to /sys/android_camera/sensor
Ok guys, so after 6 months of a use my rear facing (back/main) camera started to take really blurry pictures.
Until now it worked like a charm, taking some amazing shots. But all of a suden, today, it takes awfull pictures.
Close ups aren't bad, but that distance pictures...
How can i fix problem? I tried factory reset, updating camera app, using 3d party camera app, cleaning the lense... and nothing worked... any suggestions? Thanks...

Yes, it looks like it's hardware issue. Replacement cost 20 euros where i live, says the guy in the store. Im just sceptical about opening the device, will he damage it because these phones are sealed and any force used into opening them can cause damages..
This ultrapixel technology really iritates

I feel the same about giving the phone to some random guy to open it up. As for ultra pixel - I just love it. My other M7 has amazing camera. I wouldn't change it for anything

So if I zoom in my phone will vibrate and the image is extremely blurry. It seems to be a known issue as Samsung forums are filled with threads about it but no solution except send for service. The problem reoccurs after service, cam module replacement, so seems like a software issue. Very unacceptable. Any fixes? Anyone else dealing with this?
Same problem here. Search the forum. There's already a big thread about it.

Same issue here, wobbly picture as soon as the x2 zoom camera is used.
It started 2 or 3 months ago (I bought my note 9 in December, 512GB European model)
If I focus on an object a foot or two from the camera it stops wobbling for a few seconds which allows me to take a shot quickly... The "live focus" mode doesn't work either (it uses the zoom camera for the effect)
I've also read that getting the camera replaced didn't help, but I wonder if these are real stories or just a rumour.
In any case, like many people I'm waiting a bit longer to see if Samsung publicly acknowledges the problem before getting it replaced under warranty.

The problems been around since last year. The Samsung members forum is full of these complaints. I doubt they'll make anything official now that we're getting closer to the note 10 release. I just decided to skip out on the next note

Ring Samsung and get it fixed via warranty ? As thats a manufacturing defect, if my Note had a issue like yours i would get Samsung to fix it.. if they dont fix it, i would get it replaced with a brand new Note-9 from Samsung. That's what warranty is for!
I have this problem also, i have no problem when using the google camera app zoom so i will stick with it it's even better than the stock Samsung camera app.

Had this.. fixed in samsung service...since im rooted price was around 110 euro..
Same issue
Yeah same issue here. The camera itself seems to be vibrating and making a noise like it's struggling to focus. I had the device replaced and the camera worked for 4 months and started to play up again. Honestly happened with my Note 4 as well, although the Note 4 could be slapped out of it at least. Very frustrating.
When I upgraded to android 10 my vibration camera problem disappeared.

Interesting, as Samsung usually refuses to repair rooted devices.

I never notice any camera zoom issues with my N960N, when I was using it running android pie. I haven't tested it running on android 10 as I have managed to fix my N950N. As my N960N is now a backup device, which I backup my N950N to frequently.
Hi All,
The primary camera lens has started making buzzy sounds, it vibrates very bad and because of these, the camera interface is all jittery and wavy now.
I guess its a hardware issue, may be adhesive for the camera lens is super weak.
Secondary lens is intact and works perfect and so does the front facing one. Its just the primary camera lens.
Need some expert opinion on what is going on here.
I am holding the indian tencent variant as everyone is calling it.
Thanks in Advance

Hmm well surely if the phone has a physically defective camera lens, it needs returning to the seller...
I heard Galaxy s9 had the same issue which was fixed with a software update. So I am trying to gain a second thought here.

Ahh, ok. :good:
I thought the Asus Zenfone 6 has the same camera module (excluding the selfie camera) and I doubt if there have been reports of such problems.
Hopefully, it can be fixed through software.
Have you tried using gcam to see if it does the same?

When taking photos from main rear camera the edges get blurred and, camera cannot focus on edges manually as well.

I'm miui 13.0.9 if that helps
Hi There
Same Thing Is Happening To Me.
A Few Weeks A Go i Noticed that main Lens is having issues when I'm trying to get photos! It was like blurry, the lens was making a Ticking/Rattling Noise!
Still Having The Same Problem!
I Thought Maybe It's The OIS Malfunctioning

While the camera app is running, hit the side of the phone against the palm of your hand. Does it focus after hitting it?

Yes that worked and made it focus, but each time I close the camera app and open it again it goes back to the same issue.
Do i have to hit it everytime now?
Attached below one after hitting it
and another after I close app and reopen
Annoyingly, yes. I had to live with the issue for about 6 months. Until one day, I got fed up and hit the phone so hard, it fixed itself. I have not seen the problem since that fateful day. I have been using the phone for a year and a half now.
