Not sure what's going on here. I rooted exactly per the guide last week but I have noticed sometimes when I go to use Android pay it won't work. When I go to magisk manager it's not installed. I have flashed it again several times but it will randomly uninstall.
I tried the patch that had something to do with file access but it's still the same.
Is there a fix for this?
Thanks.
Does no-one have an answer to this?
If Magisk just isn't going to work I would rather know about it rather than it just not being installed randomly.
Thanks!
I actually having a similar problem...
Are you in the beta channel? Might want to try switching back to stable
I've just switched back now. Let's see how it goes!

Hello everyone. I know I'm a noob, but am hoping I can get some help anyway. Tried searching and not too many people are having the same problem, so I started a new thread.
Anyway, I used the one click root found in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348557
( I tried to post in that thread, but can't since I don't have 10 posts )
I'm new to hacking and I'll be honest. I only wanted to root my phone so I could use wireless tether, and then use Titanium Backup to freeze a lot of the bloatware on the phone. I have no desire to install a different ROM. I'm happy with the one it has, and happy to take the updates Verizon pushes. Everything was good until the latest update came through. When it downloaded, and rebooted, instead of updating, it booted in clockwork mod recovery. No matter what I tried, I couldn't get the update to go through.
So I settled on never updating again and froze the updater to prevent my phone from trying to update and going to CMR at random times. About 4 days later, my bluetooth quit working. Couldn't figure out why. Thought I was going to have to send it in for warranty work, so I tried to undo all the mods. I unfroze everything, and then hit the one click unroot button. It said it worked. Problem is, superuser is still installed with no way to uninstall.
My first question is this: How do I get superuser gone so my phone can be back to factory so they'll never know it was rooted?
Next I tried to go ahead and get the update since the unrooting process was supposed to have reinstalled stock recovery. Well, it didn't. I still ended up booting up into CMR again. STILL can't update even after unrooting. Double checked, and wireless tether and Titanium backup both say "no root". On a whim, I try the blue tooth and guess what. It worked. May not need to send the phone off for warranty work after all.
So my second question is this: Would freezing the updater cause the blue tooth to stop working? If so, how can I either keep it working or stop the updates without freezing the updater? It's like I have to choose between having blue tooth or having my phone randomly boot into CMR whenever it tries to update.
Third question, pertaining specifically to the one click root I linked to above: How can I get rid of the CMR? Is it possible to root the phone without installing CMR? If I can get it unrooted back to factory ( without superuser or CMR ), how can I root it again so that it doesn't install CMR and keeps the stock one?
I know this is a lot of question and I'm a noob, but I'm a noob willing to learn. If this problem has been encountered before, I apologize in advnace for not finding the appropriate thread. I tried.
updater app
Yes freezing the software update app will cause your Bluetooth to stop working. I used a app called Gemini app manager to go change the permissions of the software update app so it did not have any permissions to do anything. I have not been bothered with update prompts since.

There's no need. MTMichaelson has come up with a easy way to keep your phone rooted during the upgrade from ZV7 to ZV8.

Yes it will. Several people have reported this in different threads. I'm not sure of a way around this, but I think others might have a way around it. If you follow MT's method to keep root during the upgrade, you want have to worry about it!

There's no need to do this either since you can keep root and upgrade.
Here's what you need to do.
1) Go here and root your phone again.
2) Go here to upgrade to ZV8 while keeping root. There's also a method for reinstalling CWM as the upgrade will remove it.
This will: keep your root, get you upgraded, fix your bluetooth and keep CWM.
Good luck!

Ah, thanks. I'll post again to update how that went. Though, I'd like to keep the stock recovery. I'll try to do it without CWM.

How did you change permissions in Gemini? I turned off all the autorun features and was able to get Bluetooth working but I didn't see anything about permissions in the settings. I could have missed it though being at work and all. Will turning off all the autorun features of the Software Update app stop it from trying to download the update in the middle of the night when I'm not looking like it sounds like it should?
In gemeni select block app. It's the same as freezing in titanium backup.

OK, so I've been trying to fix this for a while now wondering if it's something that I've done wrong but with no success.
Here's my problem.
I rooted my S3 mini (GT-I8190N) running on 4.1.2 using this guide. Everything worked great, had no problem using it to root the phone at all.
After I removed all the 3rd party pre-installed crap -facebook- and finished setting up the phone the way I like it, I noticed that the hotspot was no longer working!
So I tried using hotspot apps, re-rooting, resetting and even leaving it off for a while just to see if anything would happen. It did not.
After looking around a few people have had this issue but I've not been able to find a working fix for mine. Could anyone point me in the direction of one please or advise me on how to fix this as I use it a lot.
Thanks.
Nevermind. Fixed it, found a working recovery file and used ODIN to patch it.
Wait, no still not working. :/
Since Magisk 11 released and even now with 12, rebooting feels like a roll of the dice between flashing something or installing a module. I don't have any real development experience, but had tried building a module or two and troubleshooting another in the past few weeks, which resulted in eventually booting to the error SystemUI has stopped... This has happened several times in a day even. Now today, I push the April security update, install Magisk 12, and slowly start piecing my setup together 1 by one to make sure everything works properly. Then suddenly another SystemUI has stopped error... Only way to fix it is to restore from TWRP or factory reset. A timely process. Flashing zips in TWRP in the past hasn't resulted in this for me ever... That's going back to the Donut days on my Samsung Moment, LG Optimus, HTC One M7, and now my Nexus 6. I really want to love Magisk, but its very frustrating to get so far then to have to restore and start again.
Is it something I'm doing wrong? Is there a better way to resolve this when it occurs? Is there a way to avoid this error? Is this even a Magisk issue and the fact it hasn't happened before is a matter of luck? I don't even know what's causing it...
Use MagiskMount to mount magisk.img to /magisk and delete the installed module

Yes, I do that. That's not even the problem. It's when I finally boot after installing something or removing a module, SystemUI stops and I can't do anything.
Hm... I did notice this issue a couple of times on my Nexus 6 as well. It did happen a few times when installing modules that weren't quite compatible or otherwise had issues (I was experimenting and it was never quite reproducible), but mainly when trying to do a TWRP backup or restore (completely reproducible, 100% of the times). I figured it was my device acting up and never really connected it with Magisk.
I'm going to do some further testing...

I concluded it's a module I was using. Actually, the module I tried writing myself. Stopped using, no more issues. Well, at least not yet.
Hello,
The last couple of months and completely out of no where my 4g data randomly stops working. The status bar icon shows that it's stuck on upload and won't download any data. The only way I've found to fix it outside of restarting the phone is to change the cell band type from auto to wcdma then back.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
Second issue is with Magisk and I know this is for Samsung but I figure why not ask anyway. As of yesterday after a reboot I lost root. Magisk apps shows I need to install magisk and install the app even though I'm in the app. Also a bunch of my apps are acting like I've never uzed them before and they need to be setup again. I haven't installed any updates so I'm not sure what caused it.
I've tried completely uninstalling Magisk and reinstall and that didn't do anything. The install went through fine but after launching the app it still says no root.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Hi, I think it has been updated and Magisk is useless due to new layers of security. I guess we'll wait until a new rom is made for the new update, including stock. I don't know if Magisk can release a new version and overcome this.
Thanks.
Reflashing the custom firmware then also Reflashing Magisk did get it working for me again.
I've since updated to the newest firmware, flashed OneOS and Magisk and it's been working fine until a little while ago when Magisk randomly shows as not installed again after a reboot.
I take it no one else has had this issue still?
Thanks
Hi guys
After unlocking bootloader and installing the EU rom as I did previously I now seem to have a constant freezing issue where I have to keep rebooting the phone. Sometimes it works and sometimes you open a app and you just get a blank white screen just sitting there. The only thing different I have to to previously is use magisk delta rather than the normal magisk.
Anyone else having this issue?
Regards
Probably caused by magisk/modules . Try different magisk or without magisk.

No modules installed. Magisk used to be good but now it's a ****show where they changed the zygisk something where unless it's enabled you cant hide apps which then defeats the purpose of using banking apps as it's det xted some bull along those lines hence wanted to try delta magisk as it lets you also install and extract boot and root without using a pc. Much better at working than not al magisk.
I don't understand why good stuff has to go restarted rather than get easier and better.
Sorry I sound a bit frustrated as another issue I'm having is this bastard what's app migration of chats from iPhone to android. My gosh what a nightmare that is. Still haven't managed to transfer
