[Q] ICS SMemo and SNote for custom roms?

Hello Forum!
I am enjoying CyanogenMod on my Note and wonder why SNote and SMemo from the official ICS update have not been ported yet. Do those Samsung Apps require a special kernel and will they ever be implemented in AOSP ROMs?
Best wishes
suxi
It should be possible....
I'm not sure for sNote, but u can find smemo from this thread :

Those require TW framework to work, so it's a no-go at CM9 or its derivatives ATM.
The emphasis being on ATM. Be patient.
@chasmodo, do you mean they're working on porting tw_framework or about the opendesign implementation as seen on opendesign.droidbbq.com?

Yes, I was referring to opendesign project.

I was hoping you'd say that . I'm anxious to see what the devs will cook up, seeing that the CM9 ICS already functions much better than Samsung's official ICS.

OxygenOS after custom ROM?

I am considering to install a custom ROM on my OP 3T. I do have one question. Cause I like oxygenOS but I just want to try something else, but when installed am I able to revert back?
Sadly, nowadays custom roms brings more harm than good.

that was a subjective question and this is an inappropriate response
it depends on what you want out of a ROM and what your stock ROM is like. if a stock ROM doesn't suit your needs, sometimes there is an appropriate ROM for you. i have rooted every samsung device i have ever had and improved my experience greatly.
when you find a good developer, custom ROMs can be better. stock is usually most stable

I wonder what you want out from a rom?we are using/talking about OOS and that's suit my needs(It has all that is missing in stock android).
Sorry but Samsung software is garbage.
Midomad said:
As Android is further refined, there are fewer and fewer reasons to use a custom ROM for most users, custom ROMs will always be relevant to entry-level/midrange smartphone users, or those who still use older devices, that aren't receiving official updates from OEMs anymore.

OOS seems to have everything i want in a ROM too.
that being said, i may find features that i want and don't have. my moto has pretty much everything i could want, but updating to a custom 7.1.1 increased the performance of my device so much that i can't imagine going back.
i haven't used any custom ROMs for OP3T yet, but from what i'm reading we have some really good devs and it is worth a shot. for instance, RR offers customization to such granularity that i will try it because that customization leaves me feeling like i actually own the device (basically the opposite of what apple does with their products)

TW rom for T815Y?

I'm waiting for my T819Y to arrive and getting prepared with roms, mods, xposed etc like with all phone orders lol. But I can't find a TW based rom for this model, is there one?
Sorry I got the model numbers wrong it is the T819Y not that it makes a difference in this case.
You can install T815 roms as well. Few days ago I installed stock nougat on my T815Y based on T815, everything is working fine.

Thanks, i was meaning full roms, for example on the Tab S i was using IronRom but there doesn't seem to be anything like that for the Tab S2, I'm quite happy not to use Nougat as long as I get a rom lol

There are several in these threads:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-s2/development

I have no idea how well they work since I have a T813, but given their history I suspect they will do well.

Not your aging eyes but mine. :good: I missed the TW distinction in your request. Not sure what that means, but I assume it is the region code? My apologies.

Touch Whiz is a user touch interface that runs on top of Android. Not sure what you mean by Touch Whiz based ROM. Since Touch Whiz is Samsung proprietary it isn't likely you will find it in a custom ROM. It is not available for licensing by external parties.

:good: Got it! But it looks like you are limited to stock ROMs. I am currently on rooted Stock Nougat (T813) and I am very pleased with the performance and battery life. I was on Lineage for a while and it was good too, but I prefer the look and feel of stock.

can we flash this nubia UI rom?

thanks for the reply, anyway in the past i have smartphone with a lot of custom rom, it has cool UI, xperia UI, colorOS, MIUI, and stock android,
is it now the manufacturer restrict us to port rom to another phone? or its just impossible?

no restriction and it is not impossible...
we can port them too...but the main thing is no one is porting now days...everyone makes rom from source...
and thats now easy way to make roms and these manufacturer roms are not having source code ...so no one make them...
but i must say this device will also have these rom in near future ...
because many devs are trying hard ...
so we need to wait and watch

we need support for dev in this device

pls make a some rom for samsung a715f bcs other rom cant download Regards XDA fan!
If you already unlocked you bootloader could you please give me a hand here : [REQUEST] DRM info after relocking bootloader
I also hve the sm a715f, It is a 1 year old phone, so I guess in some more years we will get more roms
To be honest, I don't think there are going to be any roms for this device.
Somehow there were a few custom roms earlier, but the developer decided to abandon those anyway.
The only redeeming factor is that at least we have a modified stock rom. But I don't think we will be getting LOS or AOSP roms anytime soon
Have you guys ever even tried GSI?
I mean, I know they're not perfect but most custom ROMs aren't perfect either
