Hello everyone,
So my p20 pro back glass just broke :crying:
anyone have any idea how to replace it and how much the replacement should cost ?
Thanks!
I feel your pain! My rear lens just smashed. No idea how it happened. Was fine this morning. Checked phone at lunchtime and it's smashed !? It's the lens over the middle camera. Phone's only been in my pocket (not with keys etc.) or padded phone pocket in bag.
I can not find any replacment parts for sale. Huawei quoted 100 or so pounds to repair the lens, as they replace the entire back cover, so I guess that would be the cost for you too
Whilst googling for spare parts I came across sites complaing how difficult the phone was to repair and how easy it is to damage.
Guess i'll need to find a case that protects those camera lenses better.
100£ :crying:
I found this one on aliexpress
aliexpress[.]com/item/Original-GLASS-For-Huawei-P20-PRO-Back-Battery-Cover-Rear-Door-Housing-Case-Glass-Panel-Replacement/32883939820.html but I'm not so sure if I'm capable to replace it myself...
Only the lens it's cheaper tho : aliexpress[.]com/item/For-Huawei-P-20-pro-p20-pro-Replacement-Back-Rear-Camera-Lens-Glass-For-Huawei-P20pro/32872094518.html
Thanks for the links.
The lens looks interesting but I hope that pic isn't accurate, because it doesn't seem right.
On my phone the bevels around each camera are a different size, and there are two more holes for the lazers range finder things?
Yeah I just check mine, I guess this lens is not for the pro version
I just ask a Huawei's Service center :
The original one is about 90€ + 30€ fee = about 120€ :crying:
I've found a lens cover on ebay:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lots-OEM...-For-Huawei-P20-P20-Lite-P20-Pro/113025697876
And from the same place, a glass back:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-OEM-...ver-Rear-Case-For-Huawei-P20-Pro/123167686147
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhfzXeLu55k
I bought one yesterday. The rear panel should arrive in about 2 weeks.
I'll let you know
In regards to replacing parts on the this phone, if you need a tear down and i'm guessing you will, to retain it's waterproofing and your warranty, i'd either get Huawei to complete the works and or your insurance, if you have it.
Unless you're a wizard with phones i wouldn't even attempt it.
Not sure if this pics are going to work, but I've just replaced mine.
I ordered a few lenses and they arrived today. Relatively quick post given they came from so far away! (I'd ordered the quicker postage).
The procedure is the same as most phones these days. Sticky tape over the lens and peel off to get most of the broken glass off. Heat with a heat gun for a short while so it's hot to the touch. Then very carefully pick the glass off, holding the phone sideways to it doesn't drop in the lens. I did this over some newspaper to catch the broken fragments, then rolled the paper up and threw it away as soon as the glass was removed (otherwise it gets everywhere).
I used an air duster to get rid of any fragments.
Then I stuck the supplied adhesive over the lens, and stuck the new lens on.
Quick test and everything seems to work. Focusing, clarity of pics all seems fine.
You're probably right about the waterproofing though to be honest I wouldn't trust it underwater anyway, I just think of it as more splash proof in case of an accident, and I'm sure that's still fine. The new lens seems is a good fit and seems to be attached in just the same way the old one was.

Mine just arrived today. Very good quality, the look and feel is the no less than origin.
But I doubt it's original. CE logo and some text next to Huawei logo (model ..) is not there.
I don't think I can't change it my self, I guess I'll go to a repair shop this afternoon :cyclops:
For the warranty I expect it to be voided anyway... paying ~120€ is too much (1/6 telephone price...)
Here some image
Looks good @midnightsmurf, where did you find that back panel? Makes me wonder if i could use it to swap out my one at a later date
Cool @midnightsmurf, if you could share the source, that would be great. I like the cleaner look without the CE logo much better.
I bought the rear from aliexpress . On aliexpress there are some cheaper one tho.
So the repair store's guy replaced it for me for 9€. I'm actually quite happy with the result:
Sorry for the image's resolution, I took it with my other phone

Looks sick, might actually buy that as I like twilight.
How the fitting going? Sounds like a massive ballache to fix it and retain water proofing
Edit: omg just read your last post. 9 euro haha that's insane, must be quite easy then, must just be heat to remove it.
Fair play

Hi
i want to ask you
The YouTube videos teardown show that the original case comes with a flex cable for the camera, this cable is linked to a body port for camera zoom
did the case that you bought come with this cable? (i bought one on eBay but it doesn´t come the flex cable)
does you have notice any changes in the camera performance after the replacement?
Best regards
I bought a replacement (just in case... you know...) from eBay and it seems to be an original chinese part. No CE logo of course (it's not necessary there) but the model number states AL-..... and some text in chinese. I actually like it better because the CE logo is distracting - in my opinion.

The cable is linked with the sensor I think. Mine doesn't have the sensor in it. The guy who replace it for me must have used the old sensor one.
Here a picture of the broken part. And for your question, I'm not 100% sure but I didn't notice any different.

Goodday XDA members and Wings Owners,
I have a Wings myself allthough i am verry disapointed in the worthless quality of the phone, no gps, ram issue, and bad cover. The other day when i slided out my keyboard there broke a piece of my cover just on the side of the screen. There are also bursts in this place next to the screen, i returned it for warranty but its 13 months old. So the phone company told me to mail HTC what takes ages before you get a response.
Annyway i want my cover fixt with or without warranty.
Does someone know this problem or HAS it?
A relpy would be nice thanks.
Your best bet is finding a replacement housing for the S730, which are on ebay for like $40.
I must say that my S730 still is in perfect shape, but I handle mine really careful.
yes i have the same problem ....where i can find on ebay????
if you search on ebay
s730 full housing
you will find some cover (pad, keyboard, slider, front, back and display) at 40~60 dollars from honk kong.
i'd like to get one dark grey (like the atmos or softbank) but i cannot assemble it

out of curiosity, once i purchase the housing cover from ebay, how is it that it is applied on the phone?
glue?, screws? .....something i could do? or look for a guy at the flea market?...........i am about to buy the covers.....but am kinda skeptical
Ive been wondering the same, i got two htc wings with broken cover..
How do you put it togheter? anyone knows?
so i ordered the cover for 40$ from hong kong (it includes some cheap plastic tools also, one that looks like a plastic popsicle stick with several bends, another weird small scredw driver).....the package arrived at my doorstep 6 days later, I went to the guy at the mall with a cart/booth full of phone **** but said he could do it for 30$ and would take an hour...............2 hours later i returned to him telling me that taking apart the keyboard and back cover would be too delicate for him and could mess it up....all in all, he replaced the front cover, keypad and gave me a screen (from an old S720).....the face of my phone is flawless (except for one miniscule piece of sawdust)......the battery cover is also flawless ......i only have one small scuff mark over by the camera button........other than that im also lovin HTC BLACK by DJ OUB !!!
I recently bought this phone on ebay for 105$ with a busted cover, 40$ for the faceplate, and 30$ for the service ........i'll keep this s730 for a while....tho i also have my eye on the s740....is that much different?
i like very much the s740, but it is so expansive
but it is totally different from the wings, more slim, more light, stylish black chassis, the sliding qwerty is opposit respect the wings, it has RAM 256MB!!
of course it is the perfect slidephone, but it is expansyve...
wow, $60 is quite profitable, if you can show me the picture of the ebay auction, I think I could get the same one for u at xda-developer special price
But anyway, accessories for Wings is quite hard to find here in HK, I have been looking for a plastic protective case for it but I could only find some in Taiwan... and out of stock eventually
here is a pic of the phone housing cover i bought on ebay to replace my busted faceplate.....shipped from hong kong, mind you, the guy who fixed my phone only used the FACEPLATE and battery cover....apparently the keyboard half of it is very delicate and has very small delicate parts....who knows, maybe he was scared to try it...

about the case for it....im currently using a generic one thats padded to death, im takin care of this phone....we're in a recession so i recently ordered the most inexpensive phone case for the s730 that i saw for 10$:
i also got my eyes on this metal one tho too (
) its gonna be like 25$ with shipping and all....any thoughts
here are other cases i saw up for bids....do u guys have any of these?:
the metal case is super!! but our wings are really fat... and with that case i'm afraid that it cannot enter in my slim jeans pockets!!!

What about the small speaker on the backside of the frontcover, was that included in the full housing package you bought on eBay? It seems impossible to move that speaker from one front cover to another due to the rubber with glue going apart when dismounting it from the cover.
Update: I can see the the service manual for the S710 (Vox) that HTC calls this part for "Receiver". Strangely they doesn't write a part no. in the service manual for that specific part. I would REALLY like to have the service manual for the S730, but I can't find it anywhere...

Be careful, if the batteries aren't properly made, they can go off (if it has a bad overcharge protection circuit). In India many people used to buy fake/duplicate Nokia batteries and had/have similar results, giving Nokia a bad name in some cases. Not often but definitely occurs. Just saying because it doesn't even mention the brand.
Better off with zerolemon battery and dual layer case.
Sent from my LG-D800 using XDA Free mobile app
original battery is best
Do not take the risk
wonder if it fits the Verizon model.
btw the zerolemon one has issues with obstructing the camera and the buttons not working very well. (at least from the few reviews I can find)
hmmm if someone has the zerolemon one can you let me know if the portion around the camera is able to be dremel'd away a bit?
Might have to get one and see if I can 3d scan-edit-3d print a new one at a friends house

That would be so epic! Keep us posted please! Lol
I contacted zerolemon about the case.
Looking at pictures from reviews and amazon/their own site, I have a feeling they changed the case around the camera.
the reviews I have seen show it more of a contoured shape but the one I see on amazon its square and a little further away from the camera.
If they changed it I may order one and see, if it blocks the camera I will see about dremelling around the contour and see if I can "fix" it lol.
I've got a Kinect set up and ill 3d scan the parts before hand and look at modifying for a 3d printer.
Ok got a response from zerolemon.
Hello,
Thanks for your question. The camera part of the case has been widened to fix the obstruction issue, but the power button doesn't change.
So the camera is fixed. No dremel needed.
The button issue might not be a deal breaker, I usually use knock on to wake it. Volume could be the clincher.
I'm gonna think about getting it since its half the cost of the mugen one and I like how the zerolemon one doesn't have the plug dangling.
According to the video review the verizon g2 does fit.
I know this is a kind of old thread but seriously, the pics on that eBay listing look horribly photoshopped. I would be very cautious buying this case. Look closely at the buttons, and why is the entire case clearly visible, except the top. The top part of the case is extremely blurry. I don't know, something looks fishy about it.
Hi Guys Here is the same one but cheaper.

In a couple of weeks I'm going to give it a try the price makes me doubt of the product.
I have two ZeroLemon G2 battery cases (the seller sent an extra one and never responded when I emailed them), the second one is unopened. I'd be willing to sell for cheap if anyone is interested. It takes some work to get the case on correctly (specifically the volume and power buttons), but is otherwise about what you'd expect for such a product.

The one I'm using is square, so the unopened one is presumably square as well. I'll have photos up shortly. I'd be asking $20+shipping (I'm near Cleveland, OH). I can't imagine having a need for 7000 mah worth of G2 batteries in my house. The only time I ever use the case is when I'm driving Uber, I like to have Waze, Dash (connected to a Bluetooth OBD adapter), and audio going w/o having cords in the way, and that's the only way to do it.
I will pm you with details. Btw i live in michigan. Howdy neighbor. Haha

This is everything that comes in the package, minus a couple of items. One is the glued-on screen protector. I didn't like it so I took it off. The other thing is there is a backing plate with styrofoam on the other side. This goes in where the battery would be if you are choosing to use the phone and case by itself, without the battery. I don't know where I placed mine, and I can't really see ever needing it anyway.
G2 case next to my old Nexus 4.
The camera and power buttons from the outside. I apologize for the quality of the shot, that bathroom mirror is dirty. I guess I could have just used the Nexus 4 to take a better picture, or my QX-10 attachment, but I was lazy.
Why would you need to use this? In my opinion it makes phone too big which isn't as comfortable at all!
Durability. I work where it can be dropped on a concrete floor easily. Or if in my pocket crushed. Plus the extra battery is nice.
Thank you Sean35. Just got the case today. The Verizon g2 does fit with a little extra efort. Agree the screen protector is coming off lol. Only issue i have is the "incompatible charger" bug. I am rooted running a custom kit kat rom so gotta figure that out.
Hi,
after getting the back of my Z3 Compact replaced (directly by Sony Care cause Vodafone Germany neglected to fix it ) the magnetic charging port fell out during the last weekend (after a usage of around 90 days, 1 time each day). That is ridiculous for a phone in that price range in my opinion. Just have a look at the picture below.
I really feel like it doesn't matter how I'm going to charge my phone I will either destroy the charging flap or the magnetic charging port. I'm thinking about selling it and to go back to the S3 after reading some posts over at Sony Mobile.
https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z3-Compact/Magnetic-Charging-Port-Is-Not-Covered-By-Warranty/td-p/891158
Please excuse the picture quality taken by Nexus 7 (2013).

Superglue?
You're right - it's ridiculous to have such a new phone literally fall apart like this. If Sony offered better customer service, I'd suggest you call them. That will likely get you nowhere though. They believe they are perfect and that the customer must have done something wrong.
@OP: sorry to hear this. not the first time on the forums, either. were you using a dock? or a charging cable? and if so, what brand?
The same happened to me..
I charged my Z3 Compact on the Sony DK48 dock and after 1 week(one charge a day) it fell out.
What should i do? Send it to Sony Care to get a new charge plate with cheap glue?

IF you can live without the phone for 10 days, then give it a shot. If not, then it really shouldn't be too hard to fix yourself. A single drop of super glue should hold it permanently.

It's not like there are no pools nor faucets in Kansas, lol. Have you at least checked your phone's waterproofing with the pressure sensor in test mode?

Like I said, my charging port never had this issue, so I can't vouch for the fix. But if you can't wait for sony, it's probably your best option.
Sorry then, I thought you had
After having my z3c for a few months. This has also happened to me OP did you send it off or super glue? Also, I'm considering on supergluing it but does it affect it's water resistance/ charging? Won't the glue melt or even cause fire because of the electric current producing heat/electric?
Magnetic charging port fell out
I've had my new phone for 2 months and used the magtron x2 accessory and a cheaper one. My phone has now been sent back to Sony so a wait of 28 days. After only a few days use I was getting a message to say shut the port as it had come loose. Is this going to be an ongoing problem? I bought the phone because it is waterproof.
try B-7000 glue, find pict on google
My magnetic charger took it off too.
I was able to repaired though easily.
A few notes first:
I would not use superglue type (cyanocrilate). It is not waterproof itself but the worse is that it would be very difficult to maintain the device hermetic since it is hard to have a homogeneous glue layer.
To reintroduce the port back properly you would have lift frontal glass and the frame within since the internal port contacts needs to be sitting underneath the frame. I glued mine without this procedure, but this would be the right one for a proper contact between the port and the phone.
What I did:
First clean both the port and its socket from leftover sticking tape. Use alcohol and a cloth.
Then look that just by putting a light pressure there is contact between the terminals. (hopefully you dont have to meddle with the contact a bit)
Then apply a very thin and homogeneous layer of waterproof glue that does not dry increasing its volume like Gorilla glue does. I used Loctite Glue2 but other in that category will work. Important to use a very thing layer and homogeneous since a bit more in one side it would not glue properly in the other and if is a think layer it wont make electrical contact with the phone.
Then put in place the charger because it fits easily and surround the phone and charger adaptor with a rubber band tightly and leave it overnight.
You can verify right after glueing that it is charging and if not, undo everything before the glue sets.
After 24h, not before, you can check that the device still hermetic by typing *#*#7378423#*#* then tap on Service Tests > Pressure Sensor and press in the middle of the front screen to see if the milibar increases
Instead of pulling the charger off now I split the connection like you will split a chocolate bar since it puts lets stress than pulling. Half a year never had the problem repeated.

I'm not so sure about this. For black phones; Sony part number: 1282-3345 is the replacement port. Google it - lots of places sell it. I got mine from an ebay seller - came complete with the adhesive pad fixed, so you just have to clean off the adhesive and re-stick. There aren't any hooks on the component whatsoever - it has two blade-type connectors that sit in another socket which is retained in the phone.. It looks like Sony (very sensibly) designed this port to be sacrificial in the event of damage.
One word of warning; if you have a port which is only detaching at one end, and you need to replace it; try and pull the connector out as straight as possible (perpendicular to the phone). If you tilt it too much it might damage the permanently attached socket in the phone, or you might snap off one of the blades, which will be a bit of a pain to retrieve.
Can't believe this happened all of a sudden but I dropped my backpack with my Tab S 8.4 in it, and cracked the screen! First time I've damaged a device like this! A quick lookup seems to indicate that the glass is attached to the digitizer so I'd have to replace the whole thing. Probably not worth it?!

Of course it's worth it, but I'd send it to Samsung rather than replace it yourself.
The reason is when I first got my HTC m8 I smashed the screen and the casing within the first 2 weeks of buying it.
I sent it to htc and they completely repaired it, LCD, digitizer, housing, speakers, shipping both ways, all for £103.
This was less than what it would have cost for me to buy the parts alone.
It's not always as expensive as you think.
That is either a weird angle, some odd camera that to the picture, or when you dropped your tab s it hit hard enough to alter the shape, because the dimensions in the picture look off.
if your amoled screen is still working, it would be better just to replace the digitizer, way much cheaper than a whole new device
The exact same thing happened to me this week. I dropped my galaxy tab s 8.4 from no more than a meter high and the screen shattered. I was really surprised because I've dropped my iPad from much higher than that with no cracks.
Here in Australia the galaxy tab s 8.4 costs $400 new. I was quoted 400 to fix at an official samsung repair Centre. I couldn't even buy an after market screen off eBay for less than 280. So I bought a complete used s 8.4 from eBay for 250.

The picture is taken with a Galaxy Note 4 lol... I took it at an angle so you could see the cracks really well. If I am using it and not on a white screen you can't really see them.
Thanks for all the input everyone. I might just keep using it as-is because I was thinking of looking at the Tab S2 when it comes out. But, I might contact Samsung just to see. Thanks again

If that's the case why not just put a screen projector on it to make it smooth again?

The device came with a screen protector when I got it from someone on CL, then yesterday I pulled it out of my bag not knowing it had been damaged, saw the lines and thought wtf? I eventually took the protector off and was sad to see the lines were actually on the screen.... and now I actually ruined the protector. But it's alright, the cracks aren't very deep and it's still smooth enough. But yeah, that might also help keep it from cracking further..
I have the 10.5 with tempered glass. I really hope the same thing does not happen to me. I have been strongly considering an otterbox case or something for my device. *Wow*

Yeah, we should be careful with this device. It was in a padded backpack that fell from just a few feet and didn't even land right on the Tab I don't think. Had only a Samsung book cover case on it.

Lesson learned and point very well taken!
I know this doesn't quite relate but I chipped the smallest bit on my N9 right by the bottom speaker. Somehow It completely cracked the whole screen. Couldn't believe it. Reason I'm posting this is because the N9 is the same in the sense you need to replace like everything from what I've seen but I can't say for sure if thats what there going to do for yours. N9 is apparently really crappy to work on which is why they just pull the whole front panel off. Now I know there different devices but I feel your pain lol. HTC told me $125 to $350 depending which repair center lol ridiculous. Hopefully Samsung will give you a decent price and won't have to replace everything like they did to my buddies Tab S 10.5.
Atleast I know now to never put it in a backpack. I had mine in one a few months ago since I had to go to a place. Other than that my Tab S stays home (naked)

Thanks for the responses everyone! I declined the repair from Samsung, it was gonna cost 159 I believe. I've just been using the Tab as-is.. normally I hate any blemish on my devices but I'm surprising myself by not caring too much. Although I am setting my sights on maybe the Tab S2 or something..
It's too late now but for future reference next time consider buying damage insurance like Squaretrade. You can find discount codes and purchase it at a very reasonable price. I get it for all of my screened devices. I had to use it when I broke the screen on my Galaxy S4. There is a deductible but it is much cheaper then paying the full price of repairs or a new device.

Yeah thanks, I've used Squaretrade once and it was a decent deal. Mostly I don't really think of it, I just take my chances, and this was the first time I would have made a claim!
Hello guys i cracked my screen today and it cracked from topright corner and it has cracked lines till bottom left and right is there any suggestions what i can do? Is it worth replacing it what can i do?
I dont think so it worths, I had The same scenario with yrrchsebor. My 10.5 with gsm device was dropped about 2 feet height and first it looked like a smooth action to the ground but when i took the device i cant belive my eyes. I used it with screen protector glass but the problem was the screen didnt touch anywhere, devices housing corner first hit the ground and this made a pressure on the housing and yawn it. Also not bad like yrrchsebors picture my device screen was broken and there were so many cracks on the bottom right. Using screen protectors or covers doesnt protect those fragile devices. I bought my device with a good deal about 380 usd from Turkey and service asked 300usd for screen replacement. Search many many different special services for a month but there is no way to change the glass seperately because of the glued glass and lcd. Anyway i think im gonna sell it about 150 bucks and may be take tab s 2. My other tab is air 2 and it also looks like too fragile after this occuraance. Parallel to device improvements and technology it seems that we have to be more carefull when using this kind of devices. May be more thiny more light devices makes a sensation but on the other hand producers have to be focus on stability too. Take care and also devices
I have just ordered a new screen assembly from Ebay at £169, mine is the 10.5 4 G and I have seen how much these sell for and it far exceeds £169, so if you are handy with a screwdriver and wangle tool I would recommend it.
Hello people,
My phones body has hairline scratchs and point scratchs. So I decided to order a full body. And While I was checking it in AliExpress I got a manufacturer who produces HTC ONE M8 body. And I ordered this

i buy my stuff at etradesupply, because ther eis easiyer paypment and it seems more reputable for me. if you have a bigger budget go on etradesupply, they should have better stuff.
But if you want to buy from aliexpress, then watch the seller rating, dont buy from new seller or sellers with like 20 reatings

I started off with a gunmetal M8. Since I've had it I've changed it to black, then to red and I've now just ordered the blue! I hate scratches, even small ones. That's what's prompted me to change again. I got a whole set including rear, top and bottom, plus card trays for a bargain £25 off AliExpress. All my orders have been with AliExpress and all have been superb quality and great service. I can't complain.

yeah allumiunium body has a big disadvantage, ****ign scratches like hell arghhhh. ohh nice to hear , that you onle had posotiv experience with ali express. i have the problem of paypment methods.
i live in germany, dont have a credit card and dont want to pay the high fee when you pay with money transfer. paypal is for me the best option, so i am going to buy at etradesupply.
i am going to make, as already said, a silver blue combination. hopefully it looks as great as your iron man

Dropped mine the other day, slid out of my work trouser pocket onto tarmac Was so gutted! Took nicks out of the red paint in several places. Hence purchased blue.
Guys though, check out this thread for wealth of information.

Hardest part is heating up the top and bottom speaker grilles and getting something thin underneath to start lifting them off. After that it's just a case of removing the screws under them and gently easing open.
Points of caution:
1. Watch you don't damage the black plastic which ever so slightly sits proud running the length of the edges of the handset. This is not replaceable (well, not easily) and forms part of the main chassis. It's pretty weak plastic so likelihood is you will 'nick' it a little but don't worry too much if you do, small nicks are barely noticeable. Take a chunk out though and it will be!
2. Don't forget to heat the NFC chip and peel off and apply to new case.
3. When reapply the speaker grilles, with the top one ensure no dust gets between the front camera lens and the grille because once stuck down, you'll have to go through heating up and peeling off again!
4. Careful with the power button. It's the trickiest piece to keep in place while re-seating the cover. I find holding it upside down and letting gravity help keep the power button in place helps.
It really is quite easy and difficult to break anything really.
As for AliExpress here is my order history:
Never had a problem with any of those sales. Just awaiting the last one, blue case.
