I'm wondering if the compact version will also suffer from 4k video/image processing overheating. I just now have discovered that the Z2 and even the Z3 on IFA during some hands on's had overheating issues while using the camera.
Does anyone of you with a Z1 compact had this issue or is this maybe only present on Z2/Z3 with Full HD?
I guess i will be waiting until someone reports that everything is fine before i buy that. I was very disappointed years ago by the X10. I really like xperia phones but they had always major flaws. and this is something i cant regret if i pay so much money for it.
hope also it will have also gorilla glas or dragontail for the glass. on back and front.

Well it depends what you mean with overheating.
All phones will become hot, especially when using the camera or playing a game.
It's normal. Really all phones have that "issue" some can mask it better then others tho

i dont mean that its gets a little bit warm/hot. i mean overheating. So much that the camera app force closes with a message that the phone is too hot for another video recording or image shooting. just take a look at z2 forum. this is not normal. im just curious if this happens only on the big brother or also on the compact series.
First, I don't know if it will overheat or not.
But I think it does not depend on the resolution of the display, because the device has to calculate the input from the camera. And that input is massive for 4k.
One review said the Z3 Compact in 4 K Video Mode shut down automatically after 10 minutes but auto saved the Video.
Other functions no reports of serious overheating.

Hey guys,
I need a new Phone because my old one (xperia sp) died of water damage...
I made a list and now I've removed the LG G2 (no expandable storage, only 16gb model available) and the S4 VE (too much issues on custom roms). And the only Phone left is the xperia Z1!
Does the xperia Z1 still perform well? It has a cm12 build now, is it stable for daily driver use? Should I give sony another try because the xperia SP is an absolute POS it lagged like crazy, even on custom roms!
It is water proof so I can't kill my Phone again and it seems like a very nice Phone!
Any issues with the device?

i my self have xperia sp, and looking to buy xperia z1
my friend has one, and it's uncomparable to sp
lightning fast phone, all my attempts to make it lag failed lol, if you buy second hand, mak sure it still has sonylogo, beceause it's ugly without it , camera is superb, my sp's camera feels like a vga camera next to z1 camera
also all z1 phones have touch screen issues when the phone gets little hot from use, your screen will respond to ghost touches, so you have to turn it odd, then on and continue using it

Just got my Z1 put cm12 on there and I'm happy as hell! Best phone I have ever had! No lag at all! Almost got the same antutu score as 1+1! So happy I didn't get the one, got a device with much better build quality and similar performance!
I also came from an XSP. i bought my z1 at december and i happy with it. The price was good, and the phone is a beast.

I am thinking of buying this fine technology and moving from xperia ZR (my first foray with Xperia is with xperia active) and aside from VGA front Facing and not so good battery life, my main gripe with the ZR is that when I use the phone long, the back portion heats up... very warmly...
So i read on another thread about issues encountered with the Z3 and I think, for my use, they are acceptable... however, I am happy to read that battery life is good with the Z3 even with heavy use... with this in mind, I would like to ask if, with heavy and long usage, does it heat up high? or is the heating acceptable? for ZR, continuous gaming for about 10 minutes would be heating up quite high.. which is not acceptable to me.. how is the Z3?

I came from the ZR and that phone was awesome then I moved to Z1c and now to Z3c. I have to say the Z3c would be perfect for you and the screen is much better quality while you will have the better storage option for Z3c. Moving from ZR to Z1c was not as good as moving to the Z3c as screen size and weight are much better, battery life is awesome and the camera is the biggest change from ZR. You won't regret it especially for gaming.

Thanks for your reply.. but what of the heating in the back? i presume you do not have a problem comparing the heating of ZR vs Z3c since you did not mention it?

It does get a little warm on the back when intensive gaming, but I would say its not greater than the ZR heat wise and its not noticeable to me. I normally play with emulators such as psp, gba, ps1 and the occasional RPG so I might not be the best person to advise you on this.

Heating of the backpanel is really acceptable. Already playing Colin McRae Rally (childhood's coming back, yay ^_^) and works like a charm while being just a bit warmer.
I had the ZR and it got quite hot with just browsing the internet, let alone gaming. The Z3C has no heat issue but I think you should wait a few more months as there'll be some better alternative you might consider.

I had a ZL (same family) and it heated up a lot (record 46 Cels.)
The z3c heats up but not even close to that level

have you oppened the device? happened to me when i changed the display, it was due to the heat on the back cover that i aplyed too close to the camera when i removed the back glass panel.
resolved it by buying a new one on ebay. i Bought first a chinese camera, but quality was ver bad, second was a refurbished one i sent from uk and works perfectly now
